Walter Lad Obal, 87, Bethlehem, died December 7, 1998 at Kirkland Village in Bethlehem. He was the husband of Mary (Vasievich) Obal, to whom he was married 58 years on June 15 this year.
He was born in Taylor, the son of the late Paul Obal and the late Anastasia (Pastashenko) Obal.
He was employed by Bethlehem Steel Corp. in the Coke Works Division for 35 years before retiring in 1976.
He was a member of St. Josaphats Ukrainian Church of the Byzantine Rite in Bethlehem.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, W. Doug Obal of West Chester; a daughter, Maryjane, wife of Samuel Newman of Stroudsburg; a brother, Paul Obal of Boyton Beach, Fla.; five sisters : Anna Price of Taylor; Olga Morgan of Alexandria, Va.; Sally Early of Vandalla, Ohio; Helen Greco of Watchung, N.J.; and Sylvia Chuprun of Taylor; and five grandchildren.
He is predeceased by a brother, Michael Obal and a sister, Mary Praschak.
Panachida services will be held in the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad Street, Bethlehem, Friday, Dec. 11, at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Office of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Josaphat's Ukranian Catholic Church of the Byzantine Rite, 1826 Kenmore Ave., Bethlehem. Visitation will be on Thursday, Dec. 10 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday, Dec. 11 from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Parastas will be on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Cemetery is Holy Saviour in Bethlehem.

Dorothy J. Spacht, 92, formerly of Hamburg, died Monday evening at 7:25 p.m. in the Easton Manor Care, Easton, where she has resided for the past six weeks. She was the widow of the late Carl E. Spacht who died December 27, 1983.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Mary E. (Bell) Johannsen. She was a 1925 graduate of Lititz High School, Lancaster County.
She was a member of Salem St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kresgeville; charter member of the former Hamburg B.P.W.; 50 year member of Blue Mountain Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #443; Hamburg Women's Club and Ladies Auxiliary to Union Fire Company #1, Hamburg.
She is survived by a daughter, Geraldine, wife of Robert Johnson of Kresgeville; two granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; and a life long friend Wally Long of Bethlehem. Shewas predeceased by a son, Douglas L. Spacht in 1947.

Betty J. Knorr, 72, of Saylorsburg, died Monday, December 7, 1998, in Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Harold E. Knorr Sr.
Born in East Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Dorcas (Martin) Repsher. She was a lifelong resident of Monroe County.
She was employed as a housekeeper for the former Holiday Inn in East Stroudsburg for many years.
She is survived by a son, Harold E. Knorr Jr. of Saylorsburg; two daughters , Judy Knorr of Saylorsburg, and Joyce Bond of Brodheadsville; a brother, Harry Repsher Jr. of East Stroudsburg; three sisters : Lillian Nasqula of Stroudsburg; Nora June Fish of Kunkletown; and Lois Smith of East Stroudsburg; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 10 at 11 a.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Raymond Poortstra officiating.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Stroudsburg Cemetery.

William Sincavage

William Sincavage, 81, of Plains Township, died Sunday evening at North Ridge Medical Center, Florida.
Born in Plains Township, he was the son of the late Thomas and Ann Smacher Sincavage, and was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School, Class of 1935.
He established Sincavage Lumber Company in Plains Township in 1949, and retired in 1978. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Plains.
He was past chairman of the Plains Township Planning Commission and participated in organizing Civil Defense and Planning and Zoning Commission. He participated in the donation of and development of the land for the Plains little league field, and was a developer and part owner of Parkview Terrace, Riverview Terrace and Birchwood Hills, all of Plains Township. He was also the developer and owner of Green Wood Acres on Lake Sinca in the Poconos. He was a former member of The General Advisory Board and charter member of the Wilkes-Barre Area Vocation Technical School; past board member of the Luzerne and Wyoming Counties of the Aging, board member of the Wyoming Valley Crime Clinic; past director of the Metropolitan Area of the Former First Eastern Bank; past director of Pennsylvania Vacation Land Development Association; past member of the Western Pocono Vacation Bureau.
Mr. Sincavage was a charter member and past president of Plains Rotary Club, where he attained 44 years of consecutive perfect attendance and was a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award, the highest award in Rotary. He was a founding member of the Top-O-Poconos Rotary Club, where he was currently a member. He was a member of Fox Hill and Pocono Hershey Country Clubs.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Thomas and sister, Emily Gildea.
He is survived by his wife, the former Emily Sindaco and sons , William of Blakeslee and George of Plains; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. from the Corcoran Funeral Home, 20 South Main Street, Plains Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church in Plains. Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery in Plains.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Elizabeth B. Krams, 90, of East Stroudsburg, formerly of Swiftwater, died Monday, Dec. 7, in the Lehigh Valley Hospice Unit of the Lehigh Valley Medical Center, Allentown. She was the widow of Joseph Krams who died in 1980.
Born in Weehawken, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Harold and Gertrude (Stroh) Barton. She had lived in the East Stroudsburg area for the past 3 years and prior to that lived in the Swiftwater area for 40 years. In her early years she resided in the New Jersey area.
She was employed by the New Jersey Bell Co. for 40 years, retiring in 1963. She was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by a sister, Edyth ZurHeide of East Stroudsburg; a niece Edith Neidert of S. Ozone Park, N.Y.; and two nephews, George Barton of S. Ozone Park, N.J., and William Barton of Ocala, Fla.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Magee officiating. Burial will be on Friday, Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. in the George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, Paramus, N.J.
Visitation will be on Thursday evening, Dec. 10 from 6 p.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.

Joan Haberdank Koeppel, of Long Pond, died suddenly Monday at her home.
She was the wife of Robert Koeppel.
Born in Weehawken, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Loretta Reilly Haberdank. While in New Jersey, she was employed by the United Jersey Bank.
After moving to the area 19 years ago, she was well known by many friends in her community.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Keith of New Jersey; a daughter, Karen, at home; a sister, Sandra Rowland of New Jersey; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Thursday, Dec. 10 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of Routes 940 and 390, Paradise Valley.

Frank D. Starr, 93, of East Stroudsburg, died Tuesday, December 8, in his home. He was the husband of Roberta (Conley) Starr of East Stroudsburg.
Born in Westfield, N.J., he was the son of the late John and Nicholina (Trione) Starr. He was a resident of Monroe County for the past 12 years. Prior to that he resided in Blairstown, N.J.
He was the owner, operator and butcher of Starr's Market in Martinsville, N.J., for 12 years before retiring in 1978.
He was of the Catholic Faith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons : Donald Starr of S. Plainfield, N.J.; Robert Starr of Rahway, N.J.; Frank Starr of Irving, Texas ; and David Starr of Clark, N.J.; two daughters , Noreen Spitzenfeil of Wind Gap and Carol Brown of Middlesex, N.J.; two step-sons , Richard Woehrel and Robert Woehrel, both of Bridgewater, N.J.; a sister, Margaret MacKenzie of Westfield, N.J.; a grandson, Noah Jon Woehrel, with whom he resided; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased in death by a son, John Starr.
A Prayer service will be held on Friday, December 11 at 10 a.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, with Fr. Daniel Yenkevich officiating.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday, December 10 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Westfield, N.J.

Laura F. (Pazos) Sullivan, of Marshalls Creek, formerly of Hackensack, N.J., died on December 7, 1998.
She was the beloved wife of Daniel Sullivan.
Devoted mother of James Michael Calafiore of California; and Jason Sullivan and Joshua Sullivan of Marshalls Creek.
Loving daughter of Laura Santarcangelo of Lakehurst, and the late Carlos Pazos, who died in 1990 and step-daughter of John Santarcangelo of Lakehurst.
Dear sister of Christine Stagg of Mahwah and Teresa Pazos of Cranford.
She is also survived by her maternal grandmother, Emily Reboredo.

Louis A. "Chick" DeVito, 71, of Long Pond, died December 12, 1998.
Beloved husband of Jennie Ruggiero.
Born in Passaic, N.J., he lived there for 25 years; Garfield, N.J., for 10 years; Lake Hiawatha for 30 years; and Long Pond for 6 years.
He was self-employed, owning and operating Chick's Italian Ice, Garfield, N.J., for 30 years retiring in 1992.
He was a Korean Army veteran.
He was a parishioner of the Most Holy Name Roman Catholic Church in Garfield, N.J.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters , Linda DeVito of Lake Hiawatha and Diane Caglianone of Landing, N.J.; a brother, Pat DeVito of Florida; two grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Caglianone; and a dear friend Linda Hogan of Jefferson , N.J.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 12, at 8:30 a.m. at the Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Avenue, Garfield, N.J., followed by a Mass at Most Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, Garfield, N.J. Entombment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

Allen W. Hoffner, 88, of RD 4 Saylorsburg, died Tuesday in the Brookmont Health Care Center, Effort.
He was the husband of the late Lucy R. (Kresge) Hoffner.
Born in RD 4 Saylorsburg, he was a son of the late William and Elizabeth (DeHaven) Hoffner.
He had worked at Valerie Fashions in Wind Gap for 4 years, retiring in 1972. Prior to that he had worked at the Pocono Foundry in Stroudsburg and before that he had been a delivery driver for Monroe County Co-Op now Pocono Mountain Dairies, in McMichaels for 25 years.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He is survived by two daughters , Joy LaBadie of RD 4 Saylorsburg and Alice Keiper of Pocono Lake; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday from Kresge Funeral Home, Route 209 Brodheadsville, with the Rev. Gerald Miller officiating. Burial will be in Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville. A viewing will be held on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
