Joseph Cialone

Joseph Cialone, 81, of Stroudsburg, formerly of Tannersville, died Saturday, Dec. 5, in Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Olga S. (Lipl) Cialone.
Born in New Haven, Conn., he was the son of the late Albert and Antoinette (Montefore) Cialone. He lived in Stroudsburg for the past few months and prior to that lived in the Tannersville area for 13 years. In his early years, he lived in the Rockland County, N.Y., area.
He was employed as a longshoreman in New York City for 34 years, retiring in 1965. He was of the Catholic faith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters : Annette Walsh of Camino, Calif.; Marie Garrison of Ringwood, N.J.; Theresa Cialone of Binghamton, N.Y.; and Barbara Cialone of Norristown; two sons : Michale Cresci of Camino, Calif., and Joseph J. Cialone of Budd Lake, N.J.; four sisters : Philomena Zambardino and Yolanda Gomory, both of Suffern, N.Y.; Dora Caylor of Decatur, Ill.; and Teresa Dupper of Washington ville, N.Y.; and 13 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, from the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, with the Rev. Henry E. Zapotocki officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.

Betty R. McCluskey

Betty R. McCluskey, 77, of Stroudsburg, died on Saturday, Oct. 17, in Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Henry J. McCluskey.
Born in Montrose, she was a daughter of the late Halford M. and Florence E. (Bast) Risley. She was a lifelong resident of Monroe County.
She was employed as a cashier for the A & P Stores in Stroudsburg, East Stroudsburg and Brodheadsville for 30 years. She was a member of the East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Judie Whittaker of Leesburg, Fla.; a granddaughter, Lauren Whittaker of Leesburg, Fla.; and a grandson, Adam Whittaker of Emeryville, Calif.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington St., East Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Raymond Poortstra officiating.
There will be a viewing on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service in the funeral home. Committal will take place in Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.

Audrey Hamblin Heise

Audrey Hamblin Heise, 92, died November 20, 1998 at Mill Run Personal Care Home, Bristol, PA.
Audrey was born in 1906 to Harriet (Bogert) and J. Burton Hamblin in Swiftwater.
She graduated from Stroudsburg High School, East Stroudsburg Normal School and East Stroudsburg State College.
Miss Audrey taught from 1925 to 1955 mainly in the Paradise Consolidated School in Swiftwater.
Audrey was pre-deceased by her husband, Henry Heise in 1980 and a brother, Carl, in April of this year. She is survived by two brothers , John of Cornwall Manor and Donald of Swiftwater; a step-daughter, Harriet Dawkins of South Portland, Maine; a step-son, Robert of Crossville, Tenn.; a granddaughter, Karen; a grandson, Kenneth; a great-grandson, Sean; and numerous nieces and nephews will also miss their "Tante".
Audrey was a member of the Swiftwater United Methodist Church and their organist for over fifty years. She also was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Manhattan. Recently she attended St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Swiftwater.
There was a private cremation.
A Memorial Celebration will be held April 10, 1999 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Swiftwater, with the Rev. Tom Chadwick and the Rev. Donald Hamblin officiating.
Memorial gifts may be made to Swiftwater United Methodist Church or St. Paul's United Church of Christ or the S.P.C.A.

Elizabeth (Dolly) McNevich, 81, of Mount Pocono, a former Westerleigh resident and professional singer who entertained troops during World War II and performed in local night clubs in the borough, died Tuesday in the Brookmont Nursing Home in Effort, where she had been a patient for two days.
Born Elizabeth Reynolds in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was brought to West Brighton as a child. She also lived in Westerleigh for 20 years before moving to Hylan Lakes, N.J., in 1963. For the last two years she lived with her granddaughter in Mount Pocono.
Mrs. McNevich was a professional torch singer throughout the 1940s. Known as Dolly Reynolds at the time, she performed at clubs on Staten Island such as the Log Cabin in Graniteville and the Miami Club, New Brighton. She also performed at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in Manhattan with Big Band singers such as Helen O'Connell and Bob Eberly. She was known as the "Singing Sweetheart of Staten Island," family members said yesterday.
Mrs. McNevich is survived by her husband, Ben; a son, Charles E. Smith Sr.; a daughter, Barbara D'Amico; a brother, John Reynolds; two sisters , Catherine Hansen and Marcella McGarry; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday, Dec. 5, from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a mass at 10 a.m. in St. Sylvester's R.C. Church, Concord. Burial will be in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.

Jerry A. Sole

Jerry A. Sole, 82, of Cresco, died Wednesday, October 14 at St. Peter's Medical Center in New Brunswick, N.J. He was the son of the late Raffaele and Anna (Ferrigno) Sole.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II. He was the recipient of the Victory Medal of Honor for his dedication and service to his country. Prior to his retirement in the mid seventies, he was a foreman in the maintenance department of Macy's in Manhattan.
Jerry is survived by his sister-in-law, Mary A. Sole, with whom he resided for many years. In addition to Mary, he is also survived by two sisters , Matilda Pisciotta and Anna Sommese, both of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers , Vincent and Joseph Sole; and three sisters : Antoinette Catalano, Julia Migilo and Gertrude Calabrese.
Friends may call on Monday, Oct. 19 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the James M. Hook & Co., Funeral Directors, 35 Sterling Road, Mount Pocono.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 19 at St. Mary of the Mount Roman Catholic Church in Mount Pocono. Monsignor Arthur J. Kaschenbach will officiate.
Interment immediately following at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.

Robert G. Thomas, 69, of Reeders, died on Thursday, October 15, 1998 in his home. He was the husband of Mary Lou (Bresset) Thomas. The couple were married 38 years.
Born in Pittston, a son of the late Ralph C. and Elizabeth H. (Hallock) Thomas. He had been a resident of Monroe County since 1965.
He was employed as a Bank and Hospital Specialist for Moore Business Forms in Avoca until his retirement in 1976. He attended the University of Southern California on an ROTC Navel Scholarship and subsequently attended Wilkes University in Scranton. He was a member of Valley Lodge 499 F.&A.M. in Pittston.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters , Rebecca M. Mixon of Gainesville, Fla., and Martha A. Coyer of Dunmore; two sons , Jeffrey L. Thomas of Reeders and David B. Thomas of Stroudsburg; a brother, Roger M. (Laverne) Thomas of New Holland; a sister, Anne Thomas Cree of Durham, N.C.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 19, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the Lantermen & Allen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harry Laubach officiating.
There will be a viewing on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Committal will take place in Appenzell Cemetery in Appenzell.

Margaret E. Treible, 78, of East Stroudsburg, died Saturday in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Harold C. Treible.
Born on May 12, 1920 in Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Sadie (Lambert) Decker and had lived in the Stroudsburgs all of her life. She was a member of the East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church; was a member of the Women of the Moose, Easton Chapter 523, Past Senior Regent; Academy of Friendship Degree, College of Regents Degree; Catasaqua Chapter 596 Women of the Moose; District Two of the Moose, past president, secretary/treasurer. She was past president of the Independent Lady Reindeer; and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary # 1106, Stroudsburg. She was also a member of the East Stroudsburg High School 50+ Alumni.
She is survived by a son, Peter R. Treible of Cresco; three sisters , Betty Decker of Stroudsburg, Ruth Crane of Dover, N.J., and Audrey Transue of Cresco; two brothers , Russell Decker of Stroudsburg and Carl G. Decker of Sunbury; three grandchildren, Peter M. Treible, Ross A. Treible and Victoria L. Fuller, all of East Stroudsburg; and five great-grandchildren, Wesley M. Treible, Ryan M. Treible, Bryan R. Treible, Kayla B. Treible and Clayton A. Treible, all of East Stroudsburg; and many nieces and nephews.
Woman of the Moose services will be held on Tuesday at 10:45 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg, with Rev. Edward Kimes officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Hill Memorial Garden, East Stroudsburg.
There will be a viewing on Tuesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.

Zacharias Milenkowic
October 12, 1998
Zacharias Milenkowic, 86, of East Stroudsburg, died Monday afternoon in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Martina (Schwarz) Milenkowic to whom he was married 49 years.
Born on May 8, 1912, in Leskovac, Yugoslavia, Serbia he was the son of the late Vaslijko and Draga (Zivkovic) Milenkowic and immigrated to the United States in 1951 from Wangen, in Allgau, Germany. He became a United States Citizen in 1957 and resided in Monroe County for the past 47 years.
He had worked as a tailor for the former Keiper's Laundry in Stroudsburg and then as a custodian for the East Stroudsburg School District.
He served in the Yugoslav Army during World War II and was a prisoner of war in Germany for four years.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons , Peter Milenkowic, Paul W. Milenkowic and John Milenkowic, all of Stroudsburg; a daughter, Sonya Datesman, of East Stroudsburg; and four grandchildren.
Private memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Ralph A. Boyer, IV, pastor of Christ Hamilton United Lutheran Church, Hamilton Square, officiating. Burial will follow in the Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.

Raul D. Montes DeOca, 68, of North Bergen, N.J., died Wednesday, October 14, at the home of his son Raul A. Montes DeOca of Analomink. He was the husband of Teresa (Padron) Montes DeOca with whom he celebrated 45 years of marriage.
Born in Bolondron, Matazas, Cuba, he was the son of the late Alberto and Ines (Herrera) Montes DeOca. He was living with his son Raul for the past month and prior to that lived in the North Bergen, N.J., Hudson County areas.
He was employed as a waiter for many New York Restaurant for many years.
In addition to his wife and son, he is survived by a daughter, Martha A. Hernandez of North Bergen, N.J.; two sisters , Elia Dominguez of Florida and Martha Cabrera of Queens, N.Y.; two brothers , Jose and Sylvio Montes DeOca, both of Cuba; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 16 at 2 p.m. from the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, with the Rev. Thomas Richards officiating. Burial will be in the Stroudsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, Oct. 16 from 1 p.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home.
