Geneva N. Bond, 75, of Stroudsburg, died Tuesday in the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg.
She was the wife of Wright J. Bond. They has observed their 57th wedding anniversary in April.
Born in Sciota, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Snyder) Van Buskirk.
She had worked at Better Made Manufacturing in Effort for 20 years, retiring in 1963.
She was a lifetime resident of Monroe County.
She was of the Lutheran faith.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons : Ralph Bond of Delaware Water Gap; James and Robert Bond, both of Stroudsburg RD; and Neal Bond of Saylorsburg RD; two daughters , Carolyn Altemose of Stroudsburg RD, and Jean Ruggiero of Port Charlotte, Fla.; a brother, Roe Van Buskirk of Stroudsburg Rd; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday from the Kresge Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harry Laubach officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville. There will be no viewing.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Marks Community Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 146, Reeders, PA 18352.

Elizabeth M. James, 96, of East Stroudsburg, died September 7 in the Brookmont Health Care Center, Effort. She was the wife of the late Charles E. James who died in 1988.
Born on June 6, 1902 in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late James and Ida (Bartleson) Dickie and had lived in the area since 1933 spending winters in Winter Haven, Fla.
She was a former member of the Mount Pocono United Methodist Church and its WSCS. She was also a member of the Queen Esther Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, Wilkes-Barre; the YWCA, Wilkes-Barre; and the Faith United Methodist Church in Stroudsburg.
She is survived by two sons , Donald C. James, husband of Alice of Plattsburg, N.Y., and Richard D. James, husband of Marjorie of East Stroudsburg; a daughter, Barbara J. Vitelli, wife of Joseph of North Plainfield, N.J.; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Lois Watson in 1969.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 11 a.m. in the Faith United Methodist Church, Hill Street, Stroud Township, with the Rev. Joseph Barth officiating. Private interment was in the Laurelwood Cemetery in Stroudsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Earl R. Thomas Jr., 77, of Canadensis, died Friday morning in his home. He was the husband of Marjorie (Heller) Thomas with whom he had celebrated 51 years of marriage.
Born on November 14, 1920 at the Overlook in Canadensis, he was a son of the late Earl R., Sr. and Elizabeth E. (Besecker) Thomas and was a lifetime resident of the area.
A United States Navy veteran of World War II, he was employed by Skytop Lodge for nearly 50 years and was a former Justice of the Peace in Barrett Township.
He was a former member of the Barrett Township Lions Club and the Evans-Blitz Post 922 American Legion in Canadensis.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Gloria Thomas Wilhelm; a grandson, William D. Neith, Jr.; a great-granddaughter, Grace Elizabeth Neith; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, John S. Thomas and a sister, Gloria Thomas.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Monday from the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Gwyned Williams, pastor of the Newfoundland Moravian Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Hopedale Moravian Cemetery, Newfoundland.
There will be a viewing on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

John Henry Van Santen

John Henry Van Santen, 67, of Williamston, S.C., widower of Jackie Lee Kesterson Van Santen, died Friday, Dec. 4, at his home.
Born in Amerfoort, Holland, son of a very successful chef, John was part of a culinary team that served some of the finest restaurants in Northern Europe, then worked on the High Seas aboard the Holland-American Liner New Amsterdam before he came to America.
Chef-John, a card-carrying member of the prestigious American Culinary Federation and a member of International Food Service Executives Association had worked all along the eastern seaboard and spent much of his winter time in Florida, where he was a member of the National Sports Service.
In the Northeast, he had worked at the famous Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York, the popular Tally Ho at Lake Hiawatha, the Alpine Country Club, the Glen Oaks Country Club, the Two Bridges Country Club in New Jersey and former Chef of the Colonade at Swiftwater.
Closer to home, Chef-John also served at the Spring Valley Country Club in Columbia, S.C., the Greenville Country Club and the Poinsett Club in Greenville, S.C. He held membership in the Moose Lodge 1429 in Tampa Springs, Fla.
Surviving are two step-sons , Bruce Maw of Williamston, S.C., and Michael Maw of Greenville, S.C.; a brother and sister-in-law, Jon and Freida Van Santen of Amerfoort, Holland; a nephew, Marcell Van Amerfoort, Holland, and four step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Gray Mortuary Chapel, Pelzer, S.C., with the Rev. Brad Barden officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery.
The family is at the home and will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Interim Hospice, 775 Spartan Blvd., Spartanburg, S.C. 29301.

Annie B. Gregory, 70, of East Stroudsburg, died Monday in the Brookmont Health Care Center, Effort. She was the wife of Charles M. Gregory, at home.
Born on November 7, 1928 in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Huggins) Bradford and had lived in the area since 1972 moving here from New York City. She had retired after twelve years of service from the New York City Police Department where she was the senior clerk in the payroll department.
She was a member of the DC37 Union NPA.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Nora Thompson Bell of Fishkill, N.Y., and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, William Thompson.
Private graveside services and burial will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Sand Hill Cemetery, Shoemakers, with Rev. Robert Shrom officiating.

Mary Ruchlman Transue, 83, formerly of Stroudsburg, died on Sunday at Brookmont Health Care Center in Effort. She was the wife of the late Norman Transue, who died in 1988.
Born in Pocono Township, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Sabrina (Sliber) Ruehlman.
She is survived by two step- daughters , Gladys Treible of Stroudsburg and Betty MacKay of Henryville; two step-sons , Norman Transue of East Stroudsburg and Everitt Transue of Stroudsburg; 16 step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 10, 1998 at 12 p.m. from the Thomas Funeral Home, with the Rev. George S. Rigby officiating. Burial will be in the Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.
There will be a viewing on Thursday from 11 to 12 p.m. at the funeral home.

Helen Louise Parker, 90, of Stroud Township, died Monday at home. She was the wife of the late John C. Parker who died in 1992.
Born on November 6, 1908 in Stroud Township, she was the daughter of the late Clarence X. and Bertha Ann (Bush) Hallet and had lived in the area all of her life.
She was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church, Stroudsburg; active with the Stroud Township Fire Co. Auxiliary; and a member of the Patsy Ann Club, Stroudsburg.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Heimbach, wife of Edward, of Stroud Township; a granddaughter, Bethanne Kralik of Stroudsburg; two grandsons, Edward John Heimbach and Daniel William Heimbach, both of Stroudsburg and a great-grandson, Aaron Oliver Kralik of Stroudsburg.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg, with Father Joseph L. DeAcetis officiating. Burial will follow in the Stroudsburg Cemetery.
There will be a viewing on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Arthur C. Johann, 68, of Stroudsburg and formerly of Queens, N.Y., and Ridgefield, N.J., died Saturday at his home. He was the husband of Crescenza P. "Chris" (Sammataro) Johann at home.
Born on October 30, 1929, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Arthur Charles and Ann Josephine (Swords) Johann and moved from Queens, N.Y., to New Jersey 40 years ago and then to Pennsylvania , where he lived for the last five years. He worked for Standard Corrugated in Ridgefield, N.J., for 25 years, acting as general manager for the last 16 years. Then he was a salesman for State Container Corp. in Moonachie, N.J., for 15 years, retiring in 1994.
A graduate of St. John's Prep in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a 15-year member of Trout Unlimited and was an avid woodworker.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mary Scarnecchia, wife of Richard, of Bushkill; a son, Raymond Johann, husband of Helene, of Saddle Brook, N.J.; two step- daughters , Mary Vassallo, wife of Joseph, of North Bergen, N.J., and Janet Burke, companion to Andrew Grechniv of Southfields, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Renee Johann, Janine Johann, Eric Wuenennberg, Jackie Wuenennberg and Melissa Scarnecchia; mother -in-law, Charlotte Sammataro and former wife, Beatrice Johann.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 4:30 p.m. in William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Thomas E. Richards Jr. officiating. Burial will be today at 11 a.m. in Cresthaven Cemetery, Clifton, N.J.
There was a viewing Sunday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Clarice A. Hofstra, 90, of Saylorsburg R.R. 2, died Saturday in the Pleasant Valley Manor, Snydersville. She was the wife of the late Piet Hofstra.
Born in Highland, Calif., she was a daughter of the late Charles A. and Emma R. (Jobe) Howley.
She had been a clerical worker for the Department of Health, Education and Welfare in Washington , D.C., for 12 years before retiring.
She is survived by a friend, Barbara Schwartz of Saylorsburg R.R. 2, several stepdaughters and several nephews.
As per her request, her body is being donated to the Humanity Gifts Registry. No services are planned at this time.
