Vito W. Molle Jr.

November 30, 1998

Vito W. Molle Jr., 50, of Albrightsville, died Monday, November 30, 1998 at the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital in Lehighton. He was the husband of Janis (Schieni) Molle. They had been married 21 years.

Born in Newark, N.J., he was the son of Isabelle (Hodes) Molle of New York and the late Vito W. Molle Sr.

He had worked in the shipping department of New Jersey Plastics in Newark, N.J., for 6 years.

He was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Lake Harmony.

In addition to his mother Isabelle and wife Janis, he is survived by a daughter, Susan, wife of Jay McConnell of Albrightsville; two sons , Vito W. Molle and his wife Kym of Albrightsville and Anthony Molle at home; a sister, Diane, wife of Bill Lindsay of Richmond, Va.; a brother, Robert Molle of New York; three grandsons: Vito W. Molle IV and twins Joseph IV and Cody McConnell, all of Albrightsville; one great-niece, Helen Marie Schrif; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 4, 1998 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Lake Harmony with the Monsignor John A. Auchter celebrant. Interment will be in the Rosedale and Linden Park Cemetery in Linden, N.J. Viewing will be held Thursday, December 3, 1998 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Inc., Route 209, Gilbert.

Helen Anne Miller Reese

November 28, 1998

Helen Anne Miller Reese, 75, of Mountainhome, died Saturday, November 28th, in Pleasant Valley Manor, Hamilton Township. She was the wife of the late C. Marshall Reese, Past President of Buck Hill Falls, who died in 1997.

Born on March 3, 1923 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mae I. Geppert and lived in the Poconos since 1945, moving here from Philadelphia. She had worked as a secretary for Curtis Publishing in Philadelphia, as a waitress at Buck Hill Falls and as a secretary for the Barrett School District.

A 1941 graduate of West Philadelphia Catholic Girls High School, she was active in the Barrett Community. She was a former member of St. Bernadette's Roman Catholic Church, Canadensis; a member and past officer of the Barrett Community Club; a Charter member and past president of the Women's Club of Barrett Township; was delegate to the 61st Annual Pennsylvania Federation of Women's Club Convention; member of the Monroe County Children's Bureau Advisory Board; and secretary of the Barrett Township Business Association, Inc. She wrote poetry and loved art.

She is survived by two sons , Paul David Miller of Pocono Farms and Robert Megargle Miller of Kingwood, Texas ; five grandchildren: Meghan Miller, Ryan Miller, Kevin Miller, Jennifer Miller and Laura Miller; a step-daughter, Marilyn R. Wescott of Winter Springs, Fla.; a stepson, Charles M. Reese Jr. of Pipersville; two step-grandchildren, Charles Reese Wescott and Christina Wescott Cochran; a brother, Joseph Geppert of Bethlehem; two sisters , Kay Gotchman and Anna Mae Gilmore, both of Philadelphia; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Hagan and a sister, Janette Geppert.

Cremation will be in the H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, December 20th at 3 p.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Support Group at Pleasant Valley Manor, RD 2, Box 2338, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.

Lenora R. Howell

November 30, 1998

Lenora R. Howell, 83, of East Stroudsburg, died Monday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital Hospice Unit, Allentown. She was the wife of William O. Howell, at home to whom she had been married for sixty years.

Born on November 23, 1915 in East Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of the late Sanford Benjamin and Dorothy A. (Lee) Houser and had lived in the area most of her life. She had worked for the J.J. Newberry Store in Stroudsburg, and J.C. Penney's in Stroudsburg.

She was a member and choir member of the East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church; the Monroe County Garden Club; the Dames of Malta, Stroudsburg; the Music Study Club of Stroudsburg; and the AARP.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Miller of East Stroudsburg; two grandsons, William Miller and Michael Miller, both of East Stroudsburg; five sisters : Dorothy Smith and Anne Ace, both of Stroudsburg; Florence VanWhy of Bushkill; Lorraine Case of Easton; and Mary Hodges of Jacksonville, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Raymond Poortstra officiating. Burial will follow in the Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.

There will be a viewing on Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lehigh Valley Hospice, 1273 N. Ninth Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.

Eleanore E. Bartholomew

November 26, 1998

Eleanor E. "Nan" Bartholomew, 81, of Robinhood Lakes, Kunkletown, formerly of Bath, died Thursday, November 26, 1998 at her home.

Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late John and Lillian (Worst) Leigh.

She was the wife of the late Leon B. "LEM" Bartholomew who died in 1974.

She had been a former member of the Christ United Church of Christ in Bath.

She had worked at Baby-gro Knitting Factory in Allentown as a machine operator for 25 years. Prior to that she had worked as a welder for Lehigh Structural in Allentown.

She was a member of the Robinhood Lakes Civic Association for over 30 years.

She is survived by a sister, Doris Silfies of Bath; and several nieces and nephews.

It was her wish to donate her remains to the Humanity Gifts Registry in Philadelphia.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date by the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Inc.

Alba A. Verrico, 61, of Delran, N.J., died November 30, 1998.

She was a native of Long Island, living many years in the Colonia/Edison Area and the past 4 years in Delran, N.J.

She was a former bookkeeper for Burlington Coat Factory.

She was a member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church in Delran, N.J., and attended the Epworth Methodist Church in Palmyra, N.J.

She is survived by a daughter, Theresa Balas and her husband George S. of Effort; a brother, Vincent Magnatta of Tulsa, Okla., a sister, Angela Cocuzza of Edison, N.J.; and four grandchildren: Angelina and George V. Balas and Vincent D. and Daniel J. Verrico.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday from the Epworth United Methodist Church, 5th and Morgan in Palmyra, N.J. Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church. Interment Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson, N.J. Friends also may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at The Lankenau Funeral Home, 303 Bridgeboro Street in Riverside, N.J.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

December 3, 1998

Maria Capuana, 77 of Effort, died Thursday, December 03, 1998 at the St. Elizabeth Ann's Health Care Center in Staten Island, New York. She was the wife of the late Santo Capuana who died in 1991.

Born in Castelbuono, Italy, on August 28, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Anna (Messinea) Cicero.

She had worked as a Seamstress for Petrocelli Men's Suits in New York for 23 years. She was a member of the Amalgamated Union of New York City. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert.

She is survived by a son, Natale Capuana of Queens, N.Y.; a daughter, Josephine Fragiglio of Staten Island, N.Y.; two grandsons, Joseph and Anthony Fragiglio, both of Staten Island, N.Y.; two sisters , Maria Fiasconaro of Metheun, Mass., and Concetta Cicero of Italy; a brother, Joseph Cicero of Italy; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday, December 7, 1998 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert, with the Rev. Father William McCawley celebrant. Interment will be in the Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville. Julia M. Boswell, 88, of Long Pond, formerly of Scranton, died Saturday, November 28, 1998, in Pocono Medical Center, Monroe County, East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Ernest R. Boswell, who died in 1966.

Born August 22, 1910, in Old Forge, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary Sopack.

She was a homemaker, and she was a former member of the former Emmanuel Baptist Church in Scranton.

She is survived by two sons : Rudy Boswell, husband of Elaine of Lake Charles, La.; and Roy Boswell, husband of Kay of Magalia, Calif.; four daughters : Dorothy, wife of John Mikels of Moosic; Doris Eggert of Scranton; Joan, wife of Leo Callahan of Newton-Ransom; and Marie, wife of John Heller of Long Pond, with whom she resided for the past twelve years; two sisters , Pauline, wife of Andy Rusnock of New York, and Susie Kokinda of New Jersey; twenty-four grandchildren; fifty-four great-grandchildren; and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her late husband, she was predeceased by a son: Edward Boswell; three brothers : George, Michael, and John Sopack; three sisters : Mary (last name unknown); Anna Czkalski; and Bertha Martin.

Funeral services: Wednesday, December 2, 1998 at 1 p.m. at James M. Hook & Co. Funeral Directors, 35 Sterling Road, Mount Pocono, PA 18344. Call Wednesday, December 2, 1998 from noon to time of service in the funeral home. Interment will be in Washburn Cemetery, Lackawanna County, West Scranton, PA.

Joyce R. Henwood

November 19, 1998

Joyce R. Henwood, 74, of Tempe Ariz., formerly of Bangor, died Thursday, November 19, at her residence in Arizona following a long illness.

She was the wife of Harold Henwood. The couple observed their 38th wedding anniversary on August 27th.

Born Sept. 24, 1924 in Bangor, she was the daughter of the late Irene (Cory) Graf.

Mrs. Henwood was employed as a Bank Teller at Southwest Savings and Loan, Phoenix, Ariz., for many years retiring in 1992. Prior to this she was a Bank Teller at First National Bank of Belvidere in Belvidere, N.J.

Of the Methodist faith, she was a 1942 graduate of Bangor High School. She had been active in the Order of the Eastern Star, Belvidere, N.J. Mrs. Henwood enjoyed arts and crafts.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Catherine H. Todd of Scottsdale, Ariz.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. John's Cemetery, Bangor. There will be no viewing.

December 1, 1998

Thomas J. Leahy Jr., 72, of Tannersville, died on Monday, December 1, at home. He was the husband of Mary (Nicol) Leahy, at home. They had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 13.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., a son of the late Thomas J. and Ellen (Kiely) Leahy Sr. He had been a resident of Monroe County for the past 20 years and prior to that of Morristown, N.J.

Prior to his retirement in June of this year, he was employed as the vice president of sales for Wiggins Plastic of Clifton, N.J., for more than 30 years.

In addition to his wife he is survived by three daughters : Barbara Schlick of Spring Brook, Fla.; Susan Livanec of Jackson, Texas ; and Sheila Tukel of Morris Plains, N.J.; a son, Thomas J. Leahy III of Landing, N.J.; two sisters , Dorothy Kane of Tennessee and Helen Manke of Jackson, Miss.; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 5, at 10 a.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, with Father Daniel Yenkevich officiating.

Interment will be in the Pine Lawn Cemetery, Farmingdale, N.Y. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

At the request of the family, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 430, Shawnee-on-Delaware, PA 18356.
