Salvatore E. Fontana

Salvatore E. Fontana, 83, of Reeders died Sunday, Nov. 15, in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Emily R. (Visneski) Fontana.
Born in Bronx, N.Y., he was the son of the late Santo and Concetta (Ciolino) Fontana. He was a resident of Reeders for the past year and prior to that he lived in the West Nyack, N.Y., area. He worked as a building superintendent in New York City for many years. He was of the Catholic faith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Nancy and her husband Warren Collins of Pomono, N.Y.; two brothers , Michael Fontana of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Louis Fontana of Shirley, Long Island, N.Y.; and a granddaughter, Meagan Collins.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 10 a.m. from Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church in Tannersville, with the Rev. Henry E. Zapotocki as celebrant. Burial will be in the Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, with a prayer service during the evening; and also from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

James Hilton Gill
Nov. 13, 1998
James Hilton Gill, 73, of Wellington, Fla., passed away Nov. 13, 1998. Mr. Gill was born March 9, 1925, in Bethlehem. He was preceded in death by his mother , Mabel Roessler, and his Father , Earle A. Gill.
He was a veteran of the Air Force and served in World War II. As well as his duty in the states, he also served in the South Pacific with the Airplane Mechanic 507's Fighter Group.
Mr. Gill graduated from Bucknell University in 1949 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was an employee of IBM for 32 years as a product engineering manager in Lab Operations, and retired in 1982.
He was a member of St. Peter's United Methodist Church in Wellington, Fla.
He is survived by his wife Rosalie Kerens Gill; his sons , James E. and Jack, both of Lexington, Ky; two grandchildren, Ryan Gill and Mandy Cheak; one great-granddaughter, Brittany Cheak; two step-children, Deborah Wagner of Cary, N.C., and John Kerens of Layton, Utah; and three step-grandchildren, Bryan, Bradley and Courtney Wagner of Cary, N.C.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6 to8 p.m. followed by a church service on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's United Methodist Church in Wellington, Fla. Services and burial to follow in Lexington, Ky., by Milward Funeral Home.

Lemuel G. Tilson

Lemuel G. Tilson, age 78, of Kunkletown, formerly of Mar-Lin, died Saturday, Nov. 14, at Bush's Personal Care Home in Kunkletown.
He was the husband of the late Nell (Bobbin) Tilson who died in 1985.
Born in Arkansas City, Kan., he was the son of the late Roy and Agness (Daniels) Tilson.
He was a retired Decorated United States Army Major having served in the European Theater in World War II and Korea. He had received two Bronze Stars, the Distinguished Service Cross and a Battlefield Commission in France in 1944 during World War II.
He was a life member of the Legion of Valor and a member of the Veterans of Overseas Association Post # 70 in Mount Carmel, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2110 in Mount Carmel, the Americans Veterans Post 180 of Pottsville. He was also a life member of the Mar-Lin Hose Company in Mar-Lin.
He is survived by a daughter, Diana, wife of Ernest Laudenslager of Kunkletown; four grandchildren, Ernest Laudenslager IV of Kunkletown, Gregory Laudenslager of Allentown, Jane Albright of White hall and Susan, wife of Eric Rutt of Allentown; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home Inc., Route 209, Gilbert, with the Rev. Robert Shrom officiating.
Viewing will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services at the funeral home. Interment with full military honors will follow in Fort Indiantown Gap National Veterans Cemetery in Annville.

Leila D. Panna, 82, of East Stroudsburg, died Friday, November 13, 1998 in Stroud Manor, East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Alonzo Fenical and the late Edgar Panna.
Born in Bushkill, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Rosetta (Counterman) Halterman. She was a lifelong resident of Monroe County and a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, East Stroudsburg.
She is survived by three daughters : Verna Starkes of East Stroudsburg; Hannah Strouse of Stroudsburg; and Doris Swartwood of Kutztown; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Albert "Buck" Fenical and by a sister, Mae Everett.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 16, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, .

Irene E. Taube Danga, 77, of Paradise Falls, Cresco, died Friday, Nov. 27, at her home. She was the wife of Fritz Danga.
Born on May 31, 1921, in Riga, Latvia, she was the daughter of the late Janis and Klementine Bechwald Taube and had lived in the Pocono area about eight years.
She graduated from the dental department of the University of Hamburg in Germany and practiced dentistry in West Germany until she came to the United States in 1956. She continued her education at the University of Pennsylvania , where she received a master's degree in medicine and a D.D.S. from the Pennsylvania Dental School of Philadelphia. She worked for the Philadelphia Dental Clinic for Children and had a private practice in Chestnut Hill until 1990.
She was an active member of the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church of Buck County and Vicinity, where she sang in the choir for 29 years and was the treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary. She also lectured on various topics of German and Latvian literature and wrote poetry.
She is survived, in addition to her husband, by her stepdaughter Dagny and her husband, the Rev. Kurt Danga-Strom, and their two children, Katrine and Andrew, of Bethlehem; and her stepson, Carl Imants Danga of St. Croix, Virgin Islands.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 2 p.m. at the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church, Juniper and Fifth streets, Quakertown. Viewing will be at 1 p.m. Funeral arrangements were made by the Andrew T. Scheid Funeral Home, Millersville.

Shirley C. Reinhardt, 72, of Stroud Township, died on Wednesday, Nov. 25, in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Robert W. Reinhardt.
Born in Newark, N.J., a daughter of the late William F. and Anna C. (Bennett) Lawrence. She was a resident of Monroe County for the past seven years. Her prior residence was in West Orange, N.J.
She had a career as a waitress and co-owner of a restaurant in New Jersey.
She is survived by five sons , Lanny Reinhardt of Stroudsburg, Robert W. Reinhardt of Newton, N.J., William L. Reinhardt of Landing, N.J., Richard J. Reinhardt of Denville, N.J., and Thomas J. Reinhardt of Stroudsburg; four daughters , Maureen C. Suchak of Newton, N.J., Kathleen A. Lutz of Saylorsburg, Doreen L. Mazurek of Rumson, N.J., Cheryl S. Ranaudo of Montague, N.J.; two sisters , Cora Connelly of East Stroudsburg and Ruth Wert of Warrensburg, N.Y.; 10 grandsons; seven granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 11 a.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington St., East Stroudsburg. with the Rev. Raymond Poortstra officiating.
There will be viewings on Monday, Nov. 30, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Lanterman & Allen.
Cremation will take place in Arlington Crematory, White hall.

Dr. Richard W. Krueger

Dr. Richard W. Krueger, 70, of East Stroudsburg died on Sunday, Nov. 29, in Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Eleanor "Ellie" (Tucker) Krueger at home.
Born in Milwaukee, Wis., he was a son of the late Herbert F. and Marjorie (Witney) Krueger. He was a resident of Monroe County for most of his lifetime.
He had a career as a dentist, practicing in East Stroudsburg for 40 years until his retirement. He was a graduate of Lafayette College in Easton and a 1954 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Dental School in Philadelphia.
He was active with Friends of the National Parks in Gettysburg. He was also a former assistant coach of the East Stroudsburg University football team for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict as a captain from Aug. 28, 1954, to Aug. 27, 1956.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons , Scott A. Krueger of Minisink Hills, Andrew J. Krueger of Langhorne, John E. Bartron Jr. of Cresco, and Troy Bartron Sr. of Stroudsburg; a daughter, Wendy Storm of Stroudsburg; and six grandchildren.
Memorial funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Edward C. Kimes officiating.
There will be a memorial visitation on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service in the funeral home.
Cremation will take place in the H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.

Michael J. Brown
November 30, 1998
Michael J. Brown, 43, of East Stroudsburg, passed away in the presence of his loving family on Monday, November 30th.
Mike was born in Scranton, but called Bangor home his entire life. He graduated from Bangor High School in 1973. Until today, he holds the long distance discus throwing record. He also attended Kings College where he studied Criminal Justice. He was a natural on the bowling lanes and with a cue stick.
His mother , Alice M. Brown and Father , Frank M. Brown Sr., preceded Mike in death.
Mike wore many hats. He was the head of the picnic and clambake department of Brownie's Catering; a bartender at Brownie's in the Gap; a carpenter with Frank Primrose Construction; had his own business, Brown Bear Woodcrafts; and of course, worked with his wife, Cheryl, at Lawn Tech. When not working or livening up the nearest party, Mike's major enjoyment in life was a long ride on his Harley.
He is survived by his best friend and wife, Cheryl, at home; his step-daughter, Casie, at home; his brother, Frank M. Brown of Delaware Water Gap; three nephews, Frankie, Chris and Rickey Brown and his pal, Scraps.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, with the Rev. Karen Nickels officiating. Burial will follow in the Delaware Water Gap Cemetery.
There will be a visitation on Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
