Louise H. Conway of Albrightsville, died Thursday at Palmerton Hospital, Palmerton. She was the widow of Edward G. Conway Sr. who died October 10, 1997.
Born in Scranton, the daughter of the late William H. and Cecelia Killen McNamara. She was a graduate of the Scranton State Hospital School of Nursing. She also completed graduate work at Rutgers University and Bloomfield College, Bloomfield, N.J. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a registered nurse for the American Hospital Corporation. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Church in Brodheadsville.
Surviving are a son, Edward G. Conway Jr. of Snellville, Ga.; two sisters , Mary Braun of Tobyhanna, and Ruth Peace of Middlesex, N.J.; and nieces and nephews.
Services were held on Monday from the Albert P. O'Donnell Funeral Home, 2025 Green Ridge Street, Dunmore.

Guy L. Holly, 95, of East Stroudsburg, died on Thursday, November 5, at the Laurel Manor in Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Marion (Foster) Holly, at home.
He was born in Stevensville, Montana, the son of the late Clarence A. and Joan (Stout) Holly.
He had been a resident of Monroe County for the past 36 years and prior to that of West Virginia. He was of the Presbyterian Faith.
He was the developer of Leisure Lands in Price Township and of a housing community in West Virginia.
He is survived by his wife.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 9, at 1:30 p.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Karen Nichols.
Interment will be in the Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Monday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home.

Grace M. Spalluto
November 8, 1998
Grace M. Spalluto, a resident of South Scranton, died Sunday in the Community Medical Center, after a long illness. Her husband is Joseph J. Spalluto. They had been married for 51 years.
Born in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late William P. and Helen (Chamberlain) Shields.
She was a graduate of Technical High School , class of 1944, and a attended the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania .
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a bookkeeper for various dress manufacturers in the Scranton area for many years.
She was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Church and its Altar and Rose Society. And she was one of the founding members of the Altar and Rosary Bowling League.
She was an avid bowler, golfer, and skier.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, who loved her dearly. All who came to know her soon realized that her name fit her well, for she lived and died with grace. She will forever be missed by her family and friends.
Also surviving are two daughters , Sheila M. Vescovi of Scranton, and Barbara Rothrock of East Stroudsburg; a son Daniel Spalluto of East Stroudsburg; one sister, Gertrude Coggins of Valpariso, Indiana; eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Wednesday from the Arthur E. and Brian A. Strauch Funeral Home, 602 Birch Street, Scranton. Will Mass at 11 a.m. in Nativity of Our Lord Church. Entombment will be in Cathedral Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Nativity Church Organ Fund. Friends may pay their respects Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Elwood F. Arndt

Professor Elwood F. Arndt, 85, of Stroudsburg died Saturday, Nov. 7, in Pleasant Valley Manor, Hamilton Township. He was the husband of Emma (Gantzhorn) Arndt.
Born in Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late Millard F. and Elizabeth M. (Martin) Arndt. He was a lifelong resident of Monroe County.
He was a mathematics professor at East Stroudsburg University for nine years before his retirement in 1974 as Professor Emeritus. Prior to that, he taught mathematics at East Stroudsburg Junior High School and Pocono Township High School in Tannersville. He was also employed by the Mutual Life Insurance Company of Newark, N.J., in the actuarial department from 1936 to 1941. For a short time he also helped his parents operate the Manitau Cottages in Stroudsburg. He also started the Tree Farm on Wigwam Park Road in Stroudsburg, which he still helped run up to a year ago.
Elwood received his master's degree in mathematics from Columbia University in New York. He also received his bachelor's degree in mathematics in 1935 from East Stroudsburg University and was a 1930 graduate of Stroudsburg High School.
During his summer months, he studied at the universities of Utah in Salt Lake City, Ohio in Dayton, Vermont in Burlington, Andrews at Berrian Springs, Michigan and South Carolina in Greenville.
He was a technical sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving at the Provost Marshal Office, European Theater. While waiting to return home from the war, he taught mathematics to other soldiers at Barritz University in Barritz, France.
He was a member of Reeders United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday school for many years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons , Dewain E. Arndt of Stroudsburg and Glenn T. Arndt of Appomattox, Va.; a brother, Lester D. Arndt of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by two brothers , Norman and James Arndt.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 11 a.m. in Reeders United Methodist Church, Reeders, with the Rev. Ronald H. Scott officiating.

Larry D. Spiers, 68, of Stroudsburg, died Thursday at his home.
Born on February 4, 1930 in Carriere, Miss., he was the son of the late Pascal and Katrina (Drummond) Spiers. He retired from the U.S. Air Force having served for twenty-five years, a veteran of the Viet Nam War where he earned the Purple Heart and the Badge of Courage. He was employed at Skytop Lodge for many years and also owned and operated his landscaping business.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles $1106, Stroudsburg, the CLU Club of Monroe County, the George M. Kemp Post 346 American Legion, East Stroudsburg, the Thomas P. Lambert Post 2540 Veterans of Foreign Wars, East Stroudsburg, the Loyal Order of Moose #1336, East Stroudsburg and the Pocono Tavern Pool League.
He is survived by his wife, Betty L. (Keller) Spiers of Stroudsburg; three daughters , Katrina Buzzard and Clarkie Spiers, both of Stroudsburg; and Patricia Bruno of Monroe, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Rhonda Smith of Henryville; a great-grandson, Joshua Smith of Henryville; a sister, Maureen Patch of Carriere, Miss.; two brothers , Harry Gene Spiers of Grand Bay, Ala., and Windell Spiers of Pensacola, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside memorial services and burial will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Carriere Cemetery, Carriere, Miss. Cremation will take place in the H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.

Charlotte Weiss Sittig

Charlotte Weiss Sittig, 81, of Shawnee-on-Delaware, died Friday at home after a short illness. She was the widow of Edgar H. Sittig, who died in 1985.
She is survived by five children; two daughters , Charlotte (Sittig) Asztalos of Reading and Susan (Sittig) Wyckoff of Stroudsburg; and three sons , John Sittig of Shawnee-on-Delaware, Frederick Sittig of Neola and James Sittig of Shawnee-on-Delaware; three granddaughters and three grandsons; and one great-grandson. She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Sittig, in 1983.
She was born Jan. 8, 1917 in Philadelphia, the daughter of the late Justice of the Peace J. David and Mary (Holmes) Hamilton Weiss of Brodheadsville. She was a lifelong resident of Monroe County.
She was a prominent antiques dealer. She and her husband specialized in Pennsylvania early antiques. They lived for many years in a 1736 home that they restored together in Shawnee-on-Delaware.
She and her husband worked closely on various exhibits with the Winterthur Museum in Wilmington, Del. They ran a shop in Shawnee-on-Delaware, but did most of their business with private collectors.
She and her husband assembled various collections of American decorative art, including furniture, accessories and fine arts for a number of museums. She worked closely with the curators of the Yale University Art Gallery, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the Boston Museum of Art, the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts, the American Museum in Bath, England, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Mich., and the Museum of American Folk Art in New York.
She was instrumental in registering historic Worthington Hall in Shawnee-on-Delaware with the National Register of Historic Places and in its restoration in the 1970s. She worked with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation on a road-improvement project in the 1960s that maintained the historical integrity of River Road and a stone bridge in Shawnee. As a lifelong friend of the late antique collectors, Ada and Earl Robacker of Sciota, she helped found the Fenner-Snyder-Robacker Homestead at their 19th century farmhouse.
She was an elected member of the Antique Dealers Association and of the New England Appraisers, the Pewter Club of the U.S.A., the Friends of the Winterthur Museum and the American Museum in Britain.
She received the Monroe County Bar Association's Liberty Bell Aware in 1996 for her volunteer work.
Locally, she was a member of the Western Pocono Community Library, the Jacob Stroud Chapter of the daughters of the American Revolution, the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Poconos, the Monroe County Historical Association, Monroe County Arts Council and the Monroe County Garden Club.
She was a volunteer driver for many years for the Monroe County Meals on Wheels and the Monroe Unit of the American Cancer Society. She helped develop the Cancer Society's annual Art and Antiques auction into that organization's leading fund-raiser.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Worthington Hall, River Road, Shawnee-on-Delaware.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Poconos, the Western Pocono Community Library or the Shawnee Fire Company.

Fredia M. Kozak, 73, of Bushkill, died on Friday, November 6, 1998 in St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. She was the wife of Peter Kozak Sr., at home. The couple has been married for 40 years.
Born in Liverpool, England, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William McTaggert. She was a resident of Pike County for the past 20 years, formerly residing in Newark, N.J.
She was employed as an assembly line worker for Westinghouse in Bloomfield, N.J., and North American Phillips in Bloomfield, N.J., for 29 years until retirement. She was a member of the Bushkill VFW Womens Auxiliary.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a sister, Norma Skelton of Weymouth, England; two nephews; four great-nieces and nephews, all of London, England.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 9, 1998 at 10 a.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Raymond Poortstra officiating.
There will be a closed casket visitation on Sunday, November 8, 1998 from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
Committal will take place in Sand Hill Cemetery, Shoemakers, with Rev. Raymond Poortstra officiating.

Ruth N. Hathaway, 90, of Pocono Summit, died on Monday, November 2, at the Brookmont Health Care Center in Chestnuthill Township. She was the wife of the late Melvin J. Hathaway.
She was born in Hopkinton, N.H., a daughter of the late Lewis A. and Bertha M. (Chase) Nelson. She had been a resident of Monroe County for the past 4 years and prior to that Montgomery, Ala.
She was a real estate sales person in Ridgefield New Jersey for many years.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Ann Trotter of Pocono Summit; a son, David Hathaway of Wetumpka, Ala.; 6 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 6 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Pocono Summit with Monsignor Arthur Kaschenbach as the celebrant.
Cremation will take place in the Arlington Crematory, White hall Township. Burial will be in the Greenwood Memorial Gardens, Montgomery, Ala. There will be no viewing.

Kenneth Andrew Keller, 56, of Tobyhanna died Friday in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.
He was the husband of Robin Elizabeth (Argot) Keller. They had been married for 13 years.
Born in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Carlton and Louis (Golderer) Keller.
He had owned and operated the Hawley Western Auto and later was employed at various other local retail businesses.
He was a 1960 graduate of New Town High School in New York.
He was a specialist five in the New York National Guard and he was an avid fisherman.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Marine Sgt. Karl D. Keller of Hawley; a daughter, Kimberly Knappenberger of Hawley; a brother, Robert Keller of Elmwood Park, N.J.; a sister, Lorraine Quarry of West Islip, N.Y.; two grandchildren and two nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Marine Corps Reserves Cpl. Kurt A. Keller, and by a nephew, Paul Keller.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Kresge Funeral Home, with Rev. Ken Argot and Rev. Larry Baney officiating. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
