James W. Enz Sr., 54, of Bartonsville, died on Monday, October 26, 1998 in Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan, N.J. He was the husband of Carol (Heymach) Enz at home.
Born in Elizabeth, N.J., a son of the late Charles and Catherine (Miller) Enz. He was a resident of Monroe County for the past 8 years. His prior residence was in Phillipsburg, N.J.
He worked for Rolling Hills Care Center in Lebanon, N.J., as a dishwasher for the past 2 years, and worked for Peppe's Ristorante in East Stroudsburg as a prep cook and dishwasher for 7 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons , James W. Enz Jr. of Stockton, N.J., Paul J. Enz of Dallas, Charles J. Enz of Pocono Summit, and Jerry C. Enz of Stroudsburg; a daughter, Carolyn Riker of Marshalls Creek; a brother, Michael Enz of Elizabeth, N.J.; a sister, Amelia Zehl of Elizabeth, N.J.; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 30, 1998 at 9:30 a.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, with Rev. Raymond Poortstra officiating.
There will be a viewing on Thursday, October 29, 1998 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
Committal will take place in Stroudsburg Cemetery.

Herman M. Sibum

Herman M. Sibum, 65, of St. Mary's, formerly of East Stroudsburg, died Monday, October 26, 1998 in the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He was the husband of Julia (Reitz) Sibum at home and the husband of the late Elizabeth (Otto) Sibum.
Born in New Hyde Park, N.Y., a son of Emma (Koenig) Sibum of Effort and the late Eilert Herman "Dutch" Sibum. He was a resident of Monroe County for 58 years, residing in St. Mary's for the past 2 years.
He was founder and owner of Sibum Auto Parts from 1955 to 1995. He was also owner of Pocono Stamp & Coin from 1980 to 1995.
He was a member of BPO Elks #319 and the George N. Kemp American Legion Post #346, both in East Stroudsburg; the Lions Club in Stroud Township and in St. Mary's. Other memberships include: the Eagles Lodge #1106 and the Moose Lodge #1336, both in Stroudsburg; the Pocono Mountain Area Kidney Foundation; Monroe County Crime Stoppers; a life member of the German Philatelic Society and a 25 year member of the American Philatelic Society. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his wife and mother , he is survived by a daughter, Victoria Elizabeth Bertholf of Blairstown, N.J.; three sons , Herman M. Sibum, Jr., Bruce D. Sibum and Wayne T. Sibum, all of East Stroudsburg; a sister, Sophie Cramer of East Stroudsburg; and three grandchildren.
Memorial Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 30, 1998 at 2 p.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Edward Kimes officiating. There will be no viewing. Cremation will take place in the H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pocono Mountain Area Kidney Foundation, P.O. Box #412, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.

Eleanor M. Hein, 70, of Stroudsburg, died Wednesday, October 28, in the Pleasant Valley Manor Nursing Home, Snydersville. She was the wife of LeRoy F. Hein Sr., with whom this Saturday would have celebrated 45 years of marriage.
Born in Mauch Chunk, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Fredna Miller. She was a resident of Monroe County for the past 25 years and prior to that lived in the Allentown area. In her early years while living in the Allentown area she worked at the City View Diner of Allentown for many years. She was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to her husband LeRoy, she is survived by four sons : David R. Hein of Allentown, Dennis R. Hein of Marshalls Creek, Donald C. Hein of Wind Gap, and LeRoy F. Hein Jr. of Chicago, Ill.; two daughters , Debrah A. Strouse of Stroudsburg and Diane Hannan of Marshalls Creek; two brothers , Robert Miller of Allentown and Alvin Miller of Boyertown; a sister, Pauline Walters of Allentown; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 31 at 10 a.m. from the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, . Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Allentown.
Visitation will be on Friday, Oct. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dorothy Ellen Holmes, 88, of Tobyhanna, died on Thursday, October 22, at home.
She was predeceased earlier this year by her husband of 55 years, Donald Charles Holmes, also of Tobyhanna.
Born in Monte Vista, Colorado, she was the only surviving child of Harley W. and Edna (Baum) North of Darke County and Fort Jefferson , Ohio. Her Father 's work as a bookkeeper for the developing American beet sugar and crushed stone industries took her family to Idaho, Utah, Indiana, Michigan and back to Ohio before she moved to Illinois in 1941. With her husband she then lived in California's San Francisco Bay area, New York's Westchester County and New York City before moving to Monroe County in 1988.
In her professional life, she worked with local Community Concerts Associations on both coasts as a booking representative for the world-renowned performing artists of Columbia Artists Management. In 1978, she joined her husband in his computer software consulting business and served on the board of directors and as the corporate treasurer until four weeks before her death.
She was a member of the Pocono Farms Women's Club, Monroe County Historical Society, and Monroe County Arts Council, and a dedicated supporter of both the Stroudsburg and Pocono Mountain public libraries.
She is survived by one daughter, Ellen Gail Holmes of Tobyhanna; one son, Donald Garrison Holmes of San Rafael, Calif.; three grandchildren: Todd Michael Butcher, Faye Marie Butcher, and Ian Garrett Oliveri-Holmes; Elaine and Marc Fitzgerald, Roxanna and Paul Bascom, and John Christopher Baum II from her mother 's family; and one cousin by marriage, Richard C. Lightcap of Pinehurst, N.C.
A memorial program will be held in her honor at 4 p.m. on Sunday in the cultural hall of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Sunrise Drive, Stroudsburg. All friends and acquaintances are cordially invited to attend. Shirley A. McCrann, 73, of Pocono Summit, formerly of Freeport, Long Island, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, at home. She was the wife of the late William McCrann.
Born in St. Petersburg, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Sam and Vivian (May) Fender.
Before retiring, she was employed as a retail credit clerk for the Gertz Department Store.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law: John McCracken of Freeport, Long Island, and William and Kathy McCrann of Pocono Summit; a brother, Brad May of Oregon; and a grandson, Matthew McCrann of Pocono Summit.
The Rev. Thomas Richards will conduct a funeral service on Monday, Nov. 2, at 10:30 a.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, Routes 940 and 390, Mount Pocono.
Interment will follow at the Pocono Lake Cemetery.
There will be a viewing Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dr. George S. Laird DDS, 85, of Gouldsboro, died Tuesday in Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown.
Dr. Laird was the husband of Alice Knight Laird of Gouldsboro. His first wife, Marjorie Merritt Laird died in 1981.
Born in Westfield, N.J., the son of the late Dr. George S. and Caroline Gilpin Laird.
He is a 1931 graduate of the Pingry School in Elizabeth, N.J. He attended Wesleyan University and Franklin and Marshall College. He graduated from Temple University School of Dentistry in 1939.
Dr. Laird practiced dentistry in Westfield, N.J., from 1939 until 1965 and in Newfoundland from 1965 until his retirement in 1981.
He was a captain in the Medical Battalion of the 4th Infantry Division in World War II, participating in the Normandy invasion. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Silver Service Star, Bronze Oakleaf Cluster, Assault Arrowhead and The Belgian Courragere.
He was a member of The Pennsylvania Dental Association; The American Dental Association; and the New Jersey Dental Association.
Dr. Laird was a member and past president of the Westfield, N.J. Rotary Club; a member and past president of the Newfoundland Rotary Club; an Honorary member of the Harrisburg Rotary Club, Huston, Texas ; a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity; and a life member of the Gouldsboro Volunteer Fire Company.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Margaret Kronus, Bradenton, Fla.; a son, Dr. George S. Laird Jr. of Goleta, Calif.; a step-daughter; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandson.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 11 a.m. in the Gouldsboro United Methodist Church, with Lori Steffensen, pastor officiating.

Gerald "Jerry" Casper

Gerald "Jerry" Casper, 45, of South Canaan, died Thursday night from injuries he suffered in an automobile accident. His widow is the former Marie Shedlock.
He was born in Carbondale, the son of Josephine Casper of Waymart and the late Joseph Casper. He was a graduate of Waymart High School, class of 1971. He was president of Simply Elegant Homes and Construction Co., Inc. in Brodheadsville. He was a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters , Julia Anne and Jennifer Marie, both at home; a brother, Thomas of Waymart; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Friends may call Sunday, Nov. 1 and Monday, Nov. 2 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the James H. Wilson Funeral Home, Route 296, Lake Ariel. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Church in Waymart. Interment will be in Green Gates Cemetery in Hawley.

Ralph G. Bush, 91, of Cresco, died Wednesday, October 21, 1998. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace E. Stewart, who died in 1987.
Born in Analomink, he was the son of the late Clinton and Alice (LaBar) Bush. A life-long resident of Monroe County, he was a self-employed carpenter and skilled craftsman. Ralph was a member of McComas Chapel, which now sits in Colonial Village, Canadensis. He was an active member and responsible for crafting some of the artifacts and furniture which is exhibited in the chapel today.
In addition to his son, Charles Bush of Cherry Hill, N.J., he is survived by four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford.
Friends may call on Monday, October 26th, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the James M. Hook & Co., Funeral Directors, 35 Sterling Road, Mount Pocono.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, immediately following the viewing on Monday. The Rev. John Charnock will preside. Interment at Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.
