Stella N. Plattenburg, 87, of East Stroudsburg, died on Monday, October 26, 1998 in Stroud Manor, East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Clarence L. "Shorty" Plattenburg.
Born in East Stroudsburg, a daughter of the late Maurice and Anna (Brandeau) Oney. She was a life long resident of Monroe County.
She was a member of East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, a member of Mrs. Davis Sunday School Class and was also a teacher in the Sunday School Primary Department. She was a past President of the United Methodist Women. Stella was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the George N. Kemp American Legion Post #346, East Stroudsburg and a past President of the auxiliary. She was also past President of 4 County Council American Legion.
She is survived by six daughters : Janet Cramer of Gettysburg; Lydia Evans of Olyphant; Sherry Crawford and Josephine Counterman, both of East Stroudsburg; Carol Urban of Tannersville; and Linda Drake of Stroudsburg; a son, Arthur J. Plattenburg of England; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Stella Marie Plattenburg and a son, Paul Plattenburg.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 30, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, with Rev. Edward Kimes and Rev. Raymond Poortstra officiating.
There will be a viewing on Thursday, October 29, 1998 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Committal will take place in Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.

Dorothy I. Counterman, 69, of East Stroudsburg, died on Sunday morning, October 25, at the Stroud Manor in East Stroudsburg.
She was born in Minetto, N.Y., a daughter of the late Henry and Dorothy Anna (Ottarson) Kennedy. She had been a resident of Monroe County for most of her lifetime. She was of the Methodist Faith.
She was employed as a cashier at the IGA and Mr. Z's at Eagle Valley for 7 years.
She was a member and past president of the ladies auxiliary of the Thomas P. Lambert Post 2450 VFW; a member of the ladies auxiliary of the George N. Kemp Post 346, American Legion; and a member of the CLU Club all in East Stroudsburg. She was also a past member of the former Keystone Breakers CB Radio Club and the E.C.H.O.E.S.
She is survived by two daughters , Sheila M. Fredenberg of Norfolk, Va., and Georgeanna F. Jones of Kanoehue, Hawaii; a son, Albert E. Counterman of East Stroudsburg; 7 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 29, at 11 a.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Lynn Lesoine officiating.
Interment will be in the Sand Hill Cemetery, Shoemakers. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mildred L. Petroziello, 89, formerly of Washington Square Apartments, Wilkes-Barre, died Saturday at Stroud Manor, Stroudsburg.
Born December 13, 1908 in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Joan of Arc Lally Lyons.
She was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre and attended Wilkes-Barre Business College.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Petroziello was a salesperson at the Boston Store and Bonwit Teller department stores.
She was a member of St. Mary's Church of the Immaculate Conception, Wilkes-Barre and it Altar and Rosary Society; St. Nicholas Senior Citizen's; St. Stanislaus Home Volunteers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, August J., in 1971; daughters , Elaine Whitonis and Barbara Brady; grandson, Jeffrey Whitonis.
Surviving are granddaughters. Barbara Deneen Jungk of Bushkill; Justine Brady of New York; and Jennifer Brady of Harrisburg, Va.; three great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. from McLaughlin Funeral Services, 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church of the Immaculate Conception. Internment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mary M. Jubin, 72, of East Stroudsburg, died Friday morning in her home.
She was the wife of the late William T. Jubin who was a volunteer for the Schoonover House in Bushkill.
Born on March 26, 1926 in Orange, N.J., she was the daughter of the late James and Grace (Colombo) Petrucelli and had lived in the area for the past ten years, moving here from Livingston, N.J., where they had lived for thirty-five years. She had a love for the outdoors and fishing.
Surviving are three daughters : Donna M. Scala, wife of Charles Getz of Pittsburgh; Gail Ann Jones, wife of Richard Jones of Parsippany, N.J.; and Robin Jubin Sommers, wife of Chris Sommers of Bushkill; two granddaughters, Jessica Marie Brown of Keansburg, N.J., and Tiffanyann Anna Sommers of Bushkill; two great-grandchildren, Katlin Cassandra Romano and Anthony Michael Romano; two brothers , James Petrucelli of Toms River, N.J., and Peter Petrucelli of Nokomis, Fla.; two sisters , Jenny Silva of Hillside, N.J., and Rose Stocker of Lake Lackawanna of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews.
Private services will take place at the convenience of the family with cremation taking place at the H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.

Paul S. Peters, 61, of Mount Pocono died Friday, Oct. 30, at home. He was the husband of Mary Jane (Riley) Peters.
Born in Queens, N.Y., he was the son of Doris Brennan of Mount Pocono and the late John C. Peters.
He was a self-employed builder for County Classic Homes since 1981.
He was a naval veteran and a member of the Pocono Builders Association.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters , Cynthia Gregor of Scotrun and Jennifer Peters of New York City, N.Y.; a son, Jonathan Peters of Mount Pocono; and five grandchildren, Jessica, Jaclyn and Justin Gregor, all of Scotrun, and Teri and Tavi Peters, both of Fort Charlotte, Fla.
He was preceded in death by a son, Paul S. Peters Jr.
The Rev. Carol Brown from the First Presbyterian Church in Stroudsburg will conduct a memorial service on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 3 p.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, routes 940 and 390, Mount Pocono. There will be a visitation at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the time of service.

Robert Baxter, 65, of East Stroudsburg died Friday, Oct. 23, at the Mercy Hospital in Scranton. He was the husband of Vivian C. (Levan) Baxter, at home. They had been married for 42 years.
He was born in Philadelphia, a son of the late Robert and Anne E. (Cassidy) Baxter. He had been a resident of Monroe County for the past 30 years and prior to that of Philadelphia. He was a member of the Wooddale United Methodist Church.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in Korea. He was a member of the George N. Kemp Post 346 American Legion and the Thomas P. Lambert Post 2540 Veterans of Foreign Wars, both in East Stroudsburg.
Prior to his retirement in 1995, he was employed as a grinder at Kulp's Foundry in East Stroudsburg for 12 years. Prior to that, he was a welder at the former Banner Metal Company in Stroudsburg.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Diane Baxter of East Stroudsburg; a son, Robert S. Baxter of Cresco; six grandchildren, Jennifer L. Baxter, Lindsay A. Baxter, Robert J. Baxter, Tamara Baxter, Robert Baxter and Teri Baxter; a brother, William Baxter of East Stroudsburg; two sisters ; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 2 p.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington St., East Stroudsburg with the Rev. Drew A Parson officiating.
Cremation will be in the J.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of services at Lanterman and Allen.

Ralph G. Bush

Ralph G. Bush, 91, of Cresco, died Wednesday, October 21, 1998. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace E. Stewart, who died in 1987.
Born in Analomink, he was the son of the late Clinton and Alice (LaBar) Bush. A life-long resident of Monroe County, he was a self-employed carpenter and skilled craftsman. Ralph was a member of McComas Chapel, which now sits in Colonial Village, Canadensis. He was an active member and responsible for crafting some of the artifacts and furniture which is exhibited in the chapel today.
In addition to his son, Charles Bush of Cherry Hill, N.J., he is survived by four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford.
Friends may call on Monday, October 26th, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the James M. Hook & Co., Funeral Directors, 35 Sterling Road, Mount Pocono.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, immediately following the viewing on Monday. The Rev. John Charnock will preside. Interment at Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.

Jessie C. Rinker, 83, of Effort, died Monday in Mrs. Bush's Personal Care Home in Kunkletown.
Born in Northampton, she was a daughter of the late John and Celeste (Murphy) Campbell.
She had been the head cook at Pleasant Valley High School for 16 years, retiring in 1980.
She was a member of the Effort United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son, Donald Rinker of Effort; two daughters , Doris Stober of Lititz and Kathy Meckes of Tannersville; a brother, Donald Mohrey of White hall; a sister, Margaret Simon in North Carolina; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday from the Effort United Methodist church with the Rev. Gerald Miller and the Rev. David Felker officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Effort. There will be no viewing.

Ruth Johanna Horvay, 78, of Saylorsburg RR 5, formerly of Drexel Hill, died Monday in her home.
She was the wife of the late John R. Horvay.
Born April 6, 1920 in Heilbronn, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Friedrich and Emilie (Seeber) Badmann.
She was an active member of Christ Hamilton United Lutheran Church in Hamilton Square.
She had lived in Drexel Hill for 30 years before moving to Saylorsburg in 1976.
She is survived by three daughters , Ruth Nicklas of Lebanon, N.J., Margaret Harding of Nazareth, and Marie Arnold of Newton, N.J.; a brother, Ralph Badmann of Southampton; six grandchildren: Steven Wertman, Diane Reichard, Nicole Kopec, Rebecca Arnold, Alison Bortnick, and John Nicklas; two great-grandchildren, Amy and Sara Reichard; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday from Christ Hamilton United Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ralph Boyer IV and Fred Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville. A viewing will be held on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service in the covenant house of the church.
