Stewart H. "Ted" Rowe

October 6, 1998

Stewart H. "Ted" Rowe, 71, of Tannersville, died Tuesday evening in his home. He was the husband of the late Catherine L. "Kate" (Werkheiser) Rowe who died in 1996.

Born on January 2, 1927, in Cresco, he was a son of the late Charles and Gertrude (Freeland) Rowe and was a lifetime resident of Monroe County.

A 1944 graduate of Pocono Township High School, he worked for Bethlehem Steel and Merrill National Labs in Swiftwater and most recently was an equipment operator for the Pocono Township Road Crew for the past 15 years.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1106, Stroudsburg and the Sullivan Trail Memorial Post #5382 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Sciota.

Surviving are a daughter, Susan K. Rowe of Mountainhome; a brother, Russell Rowe of Stroudsburg; his companion, Josephine Seese of Stroudsburg R.R. 1; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday from the William H. Clark Funeral Home, with the Rev. Russell E. Walters officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery, Swiftwater.

There will be a viewing on Friday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Lehigh Valley Hospice, 1273 North Ninth Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.

Sadie M. Borger

October 9, 1998

Sadie M. Borger, 73, of RD 3 Kunkletown, died Friday in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.

Born in Kunkletown, she was a daughter of the late Asher and Gertie (Frantz) Borger.

She had been a seamstress at various area blouse mills for twenty years before retiring.

She was a member of St. Matthews United Church of Christ in Kunkletown and a member of the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by a sister, Lillie Borger of RD 1 Saylorsburg, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers , Elmer and Robert Borger and by three sisters , Mamie Hahn, Beulah Frable, and Mary Strohl.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday from the Kresge Funeral Home, with the Rev. Deborah Scheffey officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthews Cemetery, Kunkletown. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Vera Mae Crowley

October 11, 1998

Vera Mae Crowley, 88, of Greentown, Pike County, died Sunday evening at IHS at Julia Ribaudo, Lake Ariel.

She was the widow of John F. Crowley who died in 1959.

Born in Jersey City, N.J., a daughter of the late William and Ida Mae Rittenhouse Krulish, Vera had resided in Greentown with her daughter since 1990.

Vera was of the Methodist Faith and was a member of the Laurel Blossoms Sr. Citizens Group of the Newfoundland Area.

She is survived by a daughter, Georgeanne, wife of Jack Kerr of Greentown with, whom she resided; a son, John F. Crowley of Washington , N.J.; two sisters , Ida Klinder of Wayne, N.J., and Marie Barry of Seminole, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 10 a.m. at the Arthur J. Frey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Allen, Pastor of Hemlock Grove United Methodist Church officiating. Friends and relatives may call Tuesday, Oct. 13 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robert F. Kemecsy

October 11, 1998

Robert F. Kemecsy, 51, of Stroudsburg, died Sunday, Oct. 11 from injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Pocono Township.

Born in Newark, N.J., he was the son of Frank and Lottie (Drost) Kemecsy of Nanticoke. He had lived in the Stroudsburg area for the past 25 years and prior to that he lived in the Nanticoke area.

He was employed at the Pocono Manor Inn, Pocono Manor for the past few years, and was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

He was of the Catholic faith.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister and niece, Stephanie and Denisia Rose, both of Annsonia, Calif.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family followed by cremation at the H.G. Smith Crematory in Stroudsburg.

William Hamilton Jarvis

October 13, 1998

William Hamilton Jarvis, 65, of Tobyhanna, died Tuesday at home.

He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline C. Jarvis.

He was born in Chesapeake, Va., the son of the late Gideon and Arizona Jarvis. He was a graduate of Princess Anne City Training School, Virginia Beach, and Central State University, Wilberforce, Ohio. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity.

He was a U.S. Army Retired Lt. Colonel and an entrepreneur. He twice received the Bronze Star and Meritorious Service Medals.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by William H. and Janice Jarvis of Dallas, Tx.; Robert and Lori Jarvis of Thornhurst; two daughters , Cleopatra Jarvis of Kansas City, Mo., and Sonia Jarvis of Washington , D.C.; four brothers , Gideon Jarvis of Long Island, N.Y.; Gene Jarvis of Virginia Beach, Va.; Wilbert Jarvis and Lafayette Smith of Chesapeake, Va.; a sister, Doris Jarvis Cuffee of Virginia Beach, Va.; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Javier Lovelace.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Linda Prince of Lake Hopatcong United Methodist Church on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of routes 940 and 390 in Mount Pocono. Friends may call from noon until the time of service. Interment will take place at 2 p.m. Friday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Fort Indiantown Gap.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Memorial Sloan-Kettering, New York, N.Y.

Thelma B. Haney

October 12, 1998

Thelma B. Haney, 76, of Albrightsville, formerly of Swedesboro, N.J., died Monday at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg.

Born and raised in the Swedesboro area, she lived in Salem before moving to Albrightsville 25 years ago. She was a former employee of E.I. Dupont, Deepwater.

She is survived by two step-sons , Rev. Jack H. Haney of North Conway, N.H., and Frederics E. Haney of Arlington Heights, Ill, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Church, Broad Street, Swedesboro, N.J. Interment at new St. Joseph's Cemetery in Swedesboro.

Zacharias Milenkowic

October 12, 1998

Zacharias Milenkowic, 86, of East Stroudsburg, died Monday afternoon in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Martina (Schwarz) Milenkowic to whom he was married 49 years.

Born on May 8, 1912, in Leskovac, Yugoslavia, Serbia he was the son of the late Vaslijko and Draga (Zivkovic) Milenkowic and immigrated to the United States in 1951 from Wangen, in Allgau, Germany. He became a United States Citizen in 1957 and resided in Monroe County for the past 47 years.

He had worked as a tailor for the former Keiper's Laundry in Stroudsburg and then as a custodian for the East Stroudsburg School District.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons , Peter Milenkowic, Paul W. Milenkowic and John Milenkowic, all of Stroudsburg; a daughter, Sonya Datesman, of East Stroudsburg; and four grandchildren.

Private memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Ralph A. Boyer, IV, pastor of Christ Hamilton United Lutheran Church, Hamilton Square, officiating. Burial will follow in the Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pocono Mountain Area Kidney Foundation, P.O. Box 504, Stroudsburg, 18360.

October 11, 1998

Medo Wagner Brislin, 44, of Lehman Township (Pike County), died Sunday, Oct. 11, in Pocono Medical Center. She was the wife of Shane Brislin. The couple were married on April 12 of this years.

Born in Seoul, Korea, she came to the United States in 1961. She was the daughter of James and Ann Marie Wagner of Toms River, N.J. She was a resident of Pike County for the past 13 years.

She was employed as a waitress at Naturally Rite Restaurant and Cafe in Marshalls Creek for the past 5 years.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by a son, Jackson Spires; two daughters , Selara Spires and Jennifer Wagner, all at home; three brothers , Chris Wagner of California, Scott Wagner of New Jersey, and Todd Wagner of Florida; a sister, Janie Wagner of New Jersey; and a grand daughter, Kalle Spires.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 2 p.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, .

Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from 1 p.m. to the time of the service in the funeral home.

Elizabeth Josephine Warman

October 10, 1998

Elizabeth Josephine Warman, 85, of R.R. 1, Kunkletown, died Friday in her home.

She was the wife of the late James E. Warman. Born in Scottsdale, she was a daughter of the late Joseph W. and Anna (Eicher) Hawk.

A graduate of the Uniontown Hospital School of Nursing, she was a registered nurse at Easton Hospital, retiring in 1972.

She was a member of the Effort United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, J. Douglas Warman of Riverside, Tex.; a daughter, Linda K. Warman, at home; five sisters , Madeline Felgar of Mount Pleasant; Alverda Graft and Elsie Solomon, both of Scottsdale; Leola Fite of East Conway, S.C.; and Jesse Neish of Vista, Calif.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday from the Kresge Funeral Home, . Burial will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine, Easton. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the Effort United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 545, Effort, PA. 18330.

October 11, 1998

Giro N. "Gerry" Caposieno, 89, of Saylorsburg, died Saturday in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.

He was the husband of the late Nell M. (Ray) Caposieno.

Born in Italy, he was a son of the late Fortinato and Theresa Caposieno.

He had lived in Orange and Madison, N.J., before moving to Saylorsburg in 1984.

He is survived by three daughters , Theresa Hunter; Rita Casiere; and Jean D'Avello; two brothers , Michael and Rocco Caposieno; two sisters , Italia D'Acanito and Evelyn Calogrande; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday from the Codey Funeral Home, Orange, N.J., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. from Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Verona, N.J. Burial will be Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, N.J. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. from the William H. Kresge Funeral Home, and on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. from the Codey Funeral Home.
