David P. O'Malley

David P. O'Malley, 68, of Stroudsburg, formerly of Jersey City, N.J., died Thursday, Aug. 20, in the Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown. He was the husband of Katherine M. (Sirigos) O'Malley at home.
Born in the Bronx, N.Y., he was the son of the late John and Brigid (Fox) O'Malley. He was a resident of Stroudsburg for the past 6 months and prior to that he lived in the Jersey City, N.J. area for 18 years. He was employed as an installer with Nynex Co. of New York for 40 years retiring in 1990.
He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. and a member of the American Legion Kearny, N.J. Post. He attended St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church of Stroudsburg.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, David O'Malley of Bethel, Ala.; a daughter, Marybeth McGrath of New City, N.Y.; two step sons , Louis Pilas of Canadensis and Nicholas Pilas of Jersey City, N.J.; a step-daughter, Marie Goodwin of Orland, Calif.; a brother, John O'Malley of Manchester, N.H.; and 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22, at 10 a.m. from the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, 23 North Ninth Street, Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Father Thomas D. McLaughlin officiating. Burial will be in Laurelwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Friday, Aug. 21, today, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Marion B. Rake
August 20, 1998
Marion B. Rake, age 94, formerly of South Sterling, died Thursday, August 20, at IHS at Julia Ribaudo, Lake Ariel.
Marion was the widow of Elvin F. Rake who died March 16, 1995.
She was the last survivor of thirteen (13) children of Jacob and Mary VanBuskirk Schafer.
Marion was a life long resident of the South Sterling area and a member of the LaAnna United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Doris R. Kipp of Greentown; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Private Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Robert Allen will officiate. Interment will be in Moravian Cemetery, Newfoundland.

Arthur T. Rall, 82, of East Stroudsburg, died on Friday morning, August 21, at his home. He was the husband of Joan (Falco) Rall, at home.
He was born in Queens, N.Y., a son of the late Albert and Katherine (Garvey) Rall. He had been a resident of Monroe County for the past 38 years. He was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in East Stroudsburg. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II.
Prior to his retirement in 1959 he was employed as a New York City Fireman for 20 years. After moving to the Pocono area, he was a coordinator at the Pocono Medical Center Outpatient Department for 10 years. He was a member of the Monroe County Retired New York City Firemen.
He is survived by his wife.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 24, at 9 a.m. at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, East Stroudsburg with Monsignor John A. Bergamo as the celebrant.
Entombment will be in the Mountainview Mausoleum, East Stroudsburg. There will be no viewing.
At the request of the family memorial donations may be made to St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 200 Brodhead Avenue, East Stroudsburg.

Thomas F. Kelleher, 90, of East Stroudsburg, died on Thursday, August 20, at the Stroud Manor in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Beatrice (LeFebvre) Kelleher.
He was born in New York City, N.Y., a son of the late Cornelius and Mary Ellen (Hodgins) Kelleher. He had been a resident of Monroe County for the past 25 years. He was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in East Stroudsburg.
Prior to his retirement, he was a salesperson for Brooks brothers Clothing in Manhattan for over 50 years.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Leora Cerabone of Greenlawn, N.Y.; a son, Thomas J. Kelleher of Lindenhurst, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Karen and Robert Cerabone, and Alicia Kelleher. He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel R. Kelleher.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 24, at 11 a.m. in St. Matthew's Catholic Church, East Stroudsburg with Monsignor John A. Bergamo as the celebrant.
Cremation will take place in the Arlington Crematory, White hall. Burial will be at a later date in the Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg.

Harrison L. Place, 83, of East Stroudsburg, died on Thursday, August 20, at his home. He was the husband of G. Joan (Martin) Place. They had celebrated 62 years of marriage on June 26, 1998.
He was born in East Stroudsburg, a son of the late Horton M. and Alice C. (Featherman) Place. He had been a life long resident of Monroe County. He was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in East Stroudsburg and the Father Butler Council, Knights of Columbus and was a 4th Degree Knight. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America; the National Rifle Association; an honorary member of the Sellersville Rod and Gun Club and a president of the former Farmers Gun Club. He was also an avid outdoorsman.
Prior to his retirement he was employed as a building inspector for the PA Department of Labor and Industry for 10 years; prior to that he was a business agent for the Local Masons Union and prior to that he owned and operated Harrison Place Plastering & Mason Co. for 25 years.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Joanie A. Angle of East Stroudsburg; Donald Hamilton of East Stroudsburg; three grandsons, Chip Angle, Anthony (Tony) Angle, and Ron (Placy) Angle; and a great-granddaughter, Ashley Ann Angle.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 15, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Matthew's Catholic Church, East Stroudsburg with Monsignor John A. Bergamo as the celebrant.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 15, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass at St. Matthew's Church. Burial will be private.

Gernard "Gernie" Hennion, 65, of Sciota, died Saturday at his home. He was the husband of Violet (Possinger) Hennion at home.
Born on Oct. 10, 1932, in Sciota, he was the son of the late Stewart Buchanon and Violet W. (Lesh) Hennion and had lived in Sciota all his life. Prior to his retirement, he drove tractor trailers for several local companies as his life's work.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Christ Hamilton United Lutheran Church in Hamilton Square; past president of the Cherry Valley Rod and Gun Club and had been active in the Monroe County Federation of Sportsmen.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters , FayAnn Knecht of Sciota, Antoinetta "Toni" Metzger of Brodheadsville and Angel DeNino of Sciota; one son, Stewart G. Hennion of Sciota; three grandsons, five granddaughters; one great-grandson; a sister, Lorrain Leap of Sciota; a brother, Dayton L. Hennion of Saylorsburg; and many nieces, nepheWs, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Stephanie Hennion.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Christ Hamilton United Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ralph A. Boyer IV and Fred V. Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Zion Cemetery, Hamilton Township.
There will be a viewing on Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Covenant House of the church.

Laura Rafferty, 89, of Columbia, N.J., died on Sunday, Aug. 23 in her home. She was the wife of the late Clayton Rafferty.
Born in Barrett Township, she was a daughter of the late Charles and LuLu Bell (Hardy) Reisenwitz. She was a resident of Columbia, N.J., for most of her life.
She was employed as a waitress for several former area diners. She had an interest in needlework, crochet and knitting, and made hats for the newborns in Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.
She is survived by a daughter, Betty Griffin of Wilkes-Barre; a son, Donald Rafferty of Stroudsburg; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren and one nephew. She was predeceased by a son, Robert Rafferty.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 26 at 11 a.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, with Rev. Grace Pak officiating.
There will be a viewing on Tuesday, Aug. 25 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home.
Committal will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Knowlton Township, Warren County, N.J.

Mary A. Fasino, 86, of St. Joseph's Manor, Trumbull, Conn., entered into eternal rest on Sunday.
Mrs. Fasino was born in Newark, N.J., and resided in Stroudsburg before relocating to Connecticut.
She is widowed by her husband Joseph V. Fasino. She is survived by her son, Peter V. Fasino and his wife Carol; along with her granddaughter, Gina M. Moeller and her husband Jeffrey; her grandson Peter V. Fasino Jr. and his wife Maureen; and her grandson Michael J. Fasino and his wife Lisa. In addition, she leaves five beloved great-grandchildren, Joseph and Kaitlin Fasino, and Kenneth, Mark and Amanda Moeller.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Paterson, N.J. Visitors may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Ervin R. Bush, 74, of Stroudsburg, died Monday in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Helen M. (Stalmer) Bush to whom he had been married for 51 years.
Born on August 29, 1923 in Marshalls Creek, he was the son of the late George C. and Ruth (Walters) Bush and had lived in Monroe County all of his life. A graduate of East Stroudsburg High School, he owned and operated E.R. Bush & Co. and was also a land developer having developed Reservoir Ridge in Woodale.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Thomas P. Lambert Post 2540 VFW, Stroudsburg; the Fraternal Order of Eagles 1106, Stroudsburg; and the B.P.O. Elks 319, East Stroudsburg.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons , Jeffrey Bush of Morristown, N.J. and Ronald Bush, at home; two daughters , Marilyn Fortwangler of Pittsburgh and Linda Bush of Denver, Col.; two brothers , Calvin G. Bush of Stroudsburg and Davis W. Bush of Marshalls Creek; a sister, Hazel Wolbert of East Stroudsburg; three grandchildren; two great granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, George Bush and a sister, Mildred Sebring.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, with Father Carmen Perry officiating. Burial will follow in the Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.

George W. Strothman, 68, of Effort, died Monday in his home.
He was the husband of Rose Marie (Spezzacatena) Strothman, at home. They had observed their 35th wedding anniversary on August 10.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a son of the late George W. Strothman Sr. and the late Margaret (Kern) Strothman.
He had been a bus driver and maintainer for the New York City Transit Authority for over 25 years, retiring in 1984.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He was of the Lutheran faith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters , Elizabeth Strothman of Newton, N.J., and Rosemarie Pinto in Florida, and by two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday from the Kresge Funeral Home, Route 209, Brodheadsville, with the Rev. William Zimmermann officiating.
