William R. Aulman

July 22, 1998

William R. Aulman, 68, of Kunkletown died Wednesday, July 22, 1998 at the Palmerton Hospital in Palmerton.

He was the husband of Patricia (Rohl) Aulman. They had been married 40 years.

Born in New York City, he was the son of the late Edward and Margaret (Smith) Aulman.

He was a supervisor of subways for the New York City Transit Authority for 20 years before retiring in 1990.

He was an Army veteran, having served during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post 927 in Gilbert, where he was once the financial officer.

He was of the Catholic faith.

In addition to his wife Patricia, he is survived by a daughter: Kathleen, wife of Gary Walsko of Gilbert; a son: William Aulman of Gilbert; three sisters : Margaret Welsch of White hall, Theresa Hughart of Kunkletown, and Anne Miller of Standish, Michigan; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 25, at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Inc., Route 209, in Gilbert, with the Rev. Father William McCawley officiating. Interment will be in the Gilbert Cemetery. The viewing will be held Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., with American Legion services at 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Post 927, Route 209, Gilbert, Pa., 18331.

Evangeline (Loukatos) Cordes

July 21, 1998

Evangeline (Loukatos) Cordes, 42, formerly of Saylorsburg died Tuesday, July 21, 1998 at Memorial West Hospital, Pembroke Pines, Fl., of natural causes.

Born in Plainfield, N.J., she had lived in Belvidere and Saylorsburg before moving to Florida five years ago.

She had worked as an administrative assistant for University Heart Institute in Pembroke Pines, Fl. for the last three years.

She was predeceased by her parents Angelo and Cleopatra (Antippas) Loukatos and a sister, Theonie Spanos.

Cordes is survived by her husband, Steve Cordes of Fort Lauderdale, Fl., two daughters , Adrienne and Christina Cordes, both at home in Cooper City, Fl. stepdaughter Jennifer Cordes of Westville, N.J., one sister, Christine Krinis of White house Station section of Readington Township, N.J., one aunt, two nieces and two nephews.

Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 1998 at the Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, N.J., followed by a 10:15 a.m. funeral liturgy at St. George's Orthodox Church, Piscataway, N.J. Internment will follow at Bound Brook Cemetery in Bound Brook, N.J.

Visiting hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, July 24, 1998 at the funeral home. No memorial contributions.

Mary Jago Stillman

July 23, 1998

Mary Jago Stillman, 81, formerly of Stroudsburg died Thursday, July 23, at home.

She was born in Stroudsburg, where she lived until moving to Edison, N.J. in 1935.

Stillman was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Metuchen. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Jago, in 1970 and a daughter, Mary Leonora Wales, in 1994.

She is survived by her daughter, Joan Minghenelli of Coolbaugh Township, two sisters , Leonora Wendell of Ol'Tappan, N.J., and Ethel Painter of Florida, and a nephew, Rogers Deihl. She had five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, July 27 at the Koyan Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Ave., Metuchen, followed by a 10 a.m. funeral service at the First Presbyterian Church of Metuchen. Internment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Piscataway, N.J.

Haroldine Weston "Dina" Sudduth

July 23, 1998

Haroldine Weston "Dina" Sudduth, 62, of Bushkill, died on Thursday, July 23, at the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of Bill Sudduth at home. They would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in August.

She was born in Keene Valley, N.Y., a daughter of the late Harold and Faith (Bortoden) Weston. She had been a resident of Pike County for the past 26 years. She was of the Quaker Faith.

She was a graduate of the Dana Hall School and the College of Wooster in Ohio. She was a member of the Wooster College Alumni; the American Association of University Women and the Boy Scouts of America. She was an avid recreational vehicle traveler.

She was a rural route driver for the Pocono Record for 4 years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Marion Hannah Miles; a son, Timothy John "TJ" Sudduth both of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Barbara Foster of West Chester; a brother, Bruce Weston of Salem, Mass.; 2 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Her remains were transferred to Humanity Gifts Registry in Philadelphia.

Morris W. Frace

July 22, 1998

Morris W. Frace, 73, of Stroudsburg, died Wednesday, July 22, in the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Linda L. (Widdoss) Frace.

He was born in Phillipsburg, N.J., the son of the late Miller W. and Elizabeth (Stabh) Frace. He attended the Phillipsburg Public Schools graduating from high school in the class of 1942. In June 1942 he entered the Army air corp. and served in India, China, Burma and India Theater of Operations during World War II. He then entered East Stroudsburg University graduating with a bachelor and masters degree in History and Anthropology. He taught History and Anthropology at the Stroudsburg Area School District for 25 years retiring in 1986. He was the class advisor for the Stroudsburg High School class of 1969.

He was a life member and past exalted ruler of Phillipsburg Lodge #395 B.P.O.E. and a member of the Blairstown Lodge #165 F.& A.M. He was a member of the Rotary Club of the Stroudsburgs and the Monroe County Historical Society and the Friends of the Monroe County Library.

He was a resident of the Stroudsburg area for the past 24 years and prior to that he lived in the Bangor area.

In addition to his wife Linda, he is survived by 4 nieces and a nephew.

Private funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 29 at the Joseph J. Pula funeral Home, 23 North Ninth Street, Stroudsburg with the Rev. Lamar H. Handwerk officiating.

Burial will be on Thursday, July 30 in the Stroudsburg Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made to the Friends of the Eastern Monroe Public Library, 1002 North Ninth Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360 or to a charity of ones choice.

Edwin F. Buck

July 24, 1998

Edwin F. Buck, 84, Stroudsburg, died on Friday at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Corona (Cramer) Keiser Buck, at home. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lilyan (Aldred) Buck.

Born in Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late Henry and Florence (Serfass) Buck. He was a lifelong resident of Stroudsburg.

He graduated from Stroudsburg High School in 1930 and from Beckley College in Harrisburg in 1932. He was employed by S.S. Kresge from 1933 until 1941. He started working for McGraw-Edison, formerly Line material, in 1941 and retired in 1984. He was also employed by Frank Buck Motors, Inc., Pocono Peterbilt in Bartonsville from 1965 to present.

He was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Stroudsburg. He was a past superintendent of the Sunday Schools and chairman of the Building Fund. He was also active in the Boy Scouts and Boy Scout Council.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Suzanne Lloyd of Stroudsburg; two sons , Frank Buck of Stroudsburg and David Buck of Sugar Run; a sister, Marguerite Townsend of Stroudsburg; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 29 at 11 a.m. from the St. John's Lutheran Church, 9 North Ninth Street, Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Gail Kees officiating. Burial will be in the Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.

There will be a viewing on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

Memorial donations should be made to the St. John's Lutheran Church, 9 North Ninth Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.

John F. Slonaker

July 24, 1998

John F. Slonaker, 69, of Stroudsburg, died on Friday morning, July 24 at Pleasant Valley Manor. He was the husband of Doris (Clark) Slonaker.

He was born in Philadelphia, a son of the late William and Margaret (Doris) Slonaker. He had been a resident of Monroe County for 15 years.

Prior to his retirement in 1992, he was a Corrections Officer at the Monroe County Correctional Facility in Hamilton Township; prior to that he was a Deputy Sheriff for Monroe County for 9 years and prior to that he was a supervisor for the former Devon Apparel of Philadelphia for 20 years.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, John W. Slonaker of Philadelphia, and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 28 at 1:30 p.m. in Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, with Rev. Raymond Poortstra officiating.

Cremation will take place in the Arlington Crematory, White hall. Interment will be at a later date in the Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Bernard J. "Bun" Reimer

July 24, 1998

Bernard J. "Bun" Reimer, 75, Bath, died on Friday at his home. He was the husband of Helen (Castonquay) Reimer, at home.

Born in East Bangor, he was the son of the late Robert and Edith (LaBarre) Reimer. He was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Bath.

He was employed by Houdaille Construction for over 25 years. After the acquisition of Houdaille by J.D. Morrissey in 1978, he was in charge of the Snydersville operation until he retired in 1988. After retirement, he worked at the Monroe County Courthouse as a court crier until poor health caused him to retire in February.

He was a life member of the Bangor Elks #1106; a member of the Portland Lodge #311; the Scottish Rite in Allentown and the American Legion in East Stroudsburg.

He had been a resident of Marshalls Creek for over twenty-five years before moving to Bath in June of 1997.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons , Barrie Reimer of Easton and Bernard Reimer of Fishkill, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, July 27 at 10 a.m. from the Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North Fifth Street, Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Jay R. Wenzel officiating. Burial will be in the Stroudsburg Cemetery.

There will be no viewing.

Jane C. Finley Laros

July 23, 1998

Jane C. Finley Laros, 74, of Reeders, died Thursday in Laurel Manor, Stroudsburg. She was the wife of James A. Laros, at home.

Born on July 28, 1923 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Leslie W. and Edith (Patrick) Cline. She had lived in Mt. Lebanon from 1960 to 1991 when she moved to Reeders. She had also maintained a summer home in Fort Hill, PA since 1963. She had worked as a Municipal consultant for the PA Department of Community Affairs in Pittsburgh retiring in 1983.

A 1941 graduate of Lower Merion High School, she graduated from Middlebury College in 1945, and then received her Master of Government Administration from the University of Pennsylvania , Wharton School (Fels Center for Government). She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Stroudsburg.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her stepmother, Mrs. L.W. Cline of Port Charlotte, Fla.; a son, Robert C. Finley of Acton, Mass.; two daughters , Rebecca F. Cairns of Springfield, and Ann F. Martin of Berwyn; a stepson, Robert A. Laros of Pittsford, N.Y.; a stepdaughter, Judith L. Hull of Dryden, N.Y.; a brother, L.W. Cline, Jr. of New York City, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert A. Finley.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with interment in the Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport.

Memorial contributions may be made to Laurel Manor Nursing Home, 1170 West Main Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
