Edward L. Alonis

September 30, 1998

Edward L. Alonis, 81, of Tobyhanna, died Wednesday, September 30, 1998 in Mercy Hospital in Scranton. His widow is the former Esther Keiper.

Born in Pittston, he was the son of the late Joseph and Beatrice (Renekencuite) Alonis. Prior to his retirement in 1991, he was employed as a foreman with PennDOT. He was a member of the Elks Club and Eagles Club of Stroudsburg.

In addition to his wife, Esther, he is survived by one son, Joseph of Tobyhanna. He is also survived by one brother, William Alonis of Lake of Ozarks, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers , Alfred and Walter; and one sister, Anna.

Friends may call on Sunday, October 4 from 7 to 9 p.m. at James M. Hook & Co., Funeral Directors, 35 Sterling Road, Mount Pocono.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 5 at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church in Tobyhanna. Father Gollinge will officiate. Interment immediately following at Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg.

Alexia R. Lombardi

Oct. 2, 1998

Alexia R. Lombardi, 52, of Tamiment died on Friday, Oct. 2, 1998, in Lake View Subacute Care Center, Wayne, N.J. She was the wife of Robert M. Lombardi, at home.

Born in Bronx, N.Y., a daughter of Wilbur Jamison of Queens, N.Y., and the late Earline (Middleton) Jamison. She was a resident of Pike County for the last several years. Her former residence was in Bronx, N.Y.

She was employed by Syska & Hennessy in the accounting department for seven years. She was also a New York City Notary Public. she was a graduate of Walton High School in Bronx, N.Y., and Bronx Community College in Bronx, N.Y.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons , Alexander R. Lombardi and Christopher M. Lombardi, both at home; two sisters , Cecelia Lewis of Rockland County, N.Y., and Juanita Jamison of Queens, N.Y.; two brothers , Michael Jamison of Queens, N.Y., and Maurice Jamison of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998, at 10 a.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, , with Father Thomas Sokolowski officiating.

There will be viewings on Monday, Oct. 5, 1998, from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998, from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Lanterman and Allen.

Committal will take place in Sand Hill Cemetery, Shoemakers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bushkill Ambulance Corps, Bushkill, PA 18324.

Dorothy E. Heimbach

Oct. 2, 1998

Dorothy E. Heimbach, 75, of Long Pond died Friday in her home.

She was the wife of the late Allen Heimbach.

Born in Long Pond, she was a daughter of the late Milton and Ella (Keiper) Dyson.

She had been a beautician in the Long Pond and Pocono Lake area for more than 20 years before retiring.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Albrightsville.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Gnaden Huetten Chapter # 203 in Lehighton and a past Worthy Matron of the former Mauch Chunk Chapter.

She is survived by a sister, May Bond of Jim Thorpe and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the William H. Kresge Funeral Home, Route 209, Brodheadsville, with the Rev. Ralph Eberle officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Albrightsville. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Domenick Perrone Jr.

October 1, 1998

Domenick Perrone Jr., 53, of Lehman Township, (Pike County), died Thursday, October 1, in Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Catherine (Wall) Perrone. The couple celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary on Sept. 10 of this year.

Born in Paterson, N.J., he was the son of the late Domenick Sr. and Margaret (Semento) Perrone. He was a resident of Pike County for the past year and a half, prior to that he resided in Paterson, N.J.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters , Christina D. Perrone of Clifton, N.J., and Kimberly A. Perrone of New Brunswick, N.J.; and a son, Anthony J. Perrone of Stroudsburg.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Doris E. Storm

September 27, 1998

Doris E. Storm, 76, of Stroudsburg, died on Sunday at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Stanley F. Storm, who died in 1976.

Born in Jackson Township, she was the daughter of the late Leo D. and Gertrude (Strausser) Gardner. She was a lifelong resident of Jackson Township.

She was a member of the Tannersville Senior Citizens Club and the St. Paul's Seniors Club.

She is survived by two daughters , Lois Knox and Barbara Reinhardt, both of Stroudsburg; two sons , Lawrence E. Storm of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Stanley F. Storm Jr. of Stroudsburg; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Gardner and a sister, Ruth Stein.

Funeral services were held at the convenience of the family from the Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North Fifth Street, Stroudsburg. Burial was in the St. Paul's Reformed Cemetery.

There was no viewing.

Memorial donations should be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Roy P.M. Stoudt

September 28, 1998

Roy P.M. Stoudt, 84, of Palmer Township, died Monday, Sept. 28 in ManorCare Health Services, Palmer Township.

He was retired from Binney and Smith, Inc., where he was employed for over 30 years.

Born March 7, 1914 in Nazareth, he was the son of the late Ira T. and Florence A. Butz Stoudt. His wife, Viola Gougher Stoudt, died in 1989.

He was a member of Bethel Memorial Baptist Church, Palmer Township, and a member of the 25 Year Club of Binney and Smith.

Survivors include a son, William I. Stoudt, Stroudsburg, a daughter, Kathleen Kelly, Palmer Township; a brother, Donald, Nazareth; two sisters , Pearl Painz, Allentown and June Best, Tatamy; two grandchildren and a great granddaughter. Two brothers , Paul and Floyd, and three sisters , Irene Fehnel, Margaret Kline and Ruth Stoudt, all died earlier.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today in the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 2101 Northampton St., Wilson Borough. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Township. Call today between 10 and 11 a.m. in the funeral home.

Ruth J. Berger

September 28, 1998

Ruth J. Berger, 50, of Effort, died Monday morning at her home. She was the wife of Richard W. Berger at home.

Born on October 25, 1947 in Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of Graydon and Mildred (Weber) LaBar of Stroudsburg and had lived in the area all of her life. She had worked as a registered nurse at the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg for the last fifteen years, retiring in 1996 due to ill health.

A 1965 graduate of Stroudsburg High School and a 1989 graduate of Regents College, she was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Effort. She was a avid horse lover.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by a son, Gregory Berger at home; a daughter, Vicki Berger of Stroudsburg; two sisters , Jean Ludwig of Roanoke, Va., and Joan Devino of Stroudsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, with Rev. Michael A. Frost officiating. Burial will follow in the Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.

There will be a viewing on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

July 18, 1998

James H. LaBar, 85, of New Tripoli, died on Saturday, July 18 at Manor Care in Allentown. He was the husband of Louise (Jannelli) LaBar, at home. They celebrated 62 years of marriage.

He was born in Wyoming, Pa., a son of the late Harry and Mary (VanWhy) LaBar. He had been a resident of Lehigh County for the past 21 years and prior to that of New Jersey.

Prior to his retirement in 1978, he was employed by Bell Labs in Holmdel, N.J., as a supervisor and worked on the TELSTAR satellite for 24½ years; prior to that he was employed by MACK Motors in Plainfield, N.J., for 24½ years.

He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge in New Jersey; the Telephone Pioneer of America.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Arnold of East Stroudsburg; a sister, Harriett Pearson of Cinnaminson, N.J.; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons , James Harris LaBar and Richard Gary LaBar.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 24 at 2 p.m. in the Middle Smithfield Presbyterian Church, with the Reverend Samuel Huffard officiating.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday, July 24 from 1 p.m. until the time of the services at the church. Cremation took place in the Arlington Crematory, White hall.

At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer society, Monroe Unit, RR 2, Box 2138, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.

Katherine A. "Kitty" Koller

July 21, 1998

Katherine A. "Kitty" Koller, 94, of Bridgewater, NJ, died Tuesday at the Hillcrest Retirement Community in Stroudsburg.

Born on March 18, 1904 in Elizabeth, NJ, she had lived locally for the past seven years. She had worked as an administrative supervisor for the U.S. government before retiring in 1969.

She was a seventy year member and officer of the Order of the Eastern Star and Past Matron of the Bethany Chapter in Roselle, NJ where she also served as the Grand Representative of Texas . She was presently a member of the Westfield and the Whiting Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by a son, William Koller, husband of Shirley Nase Koller, of Bridgewater, NJ; two grandsons, Ronald Koller of Little Gap and Todd Koller of Bridgewater, NJ; a granddaughter, Jill Koller Orecchio of Kintnersville; and five great grandchildren, Sarah Koller, Jocelyn Koller, Madeline Koller, Zachary Orecchio and Chase Orecchio.

Order of Eastern Star services will be held on Thursday at 10:45 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, with Rev. Catherine P. Horn officiating. Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery, Kenilworth, NJ.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Analomink United Methodist Church, 3398 Birchwood Drive, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.

Allen C. Shoenberger Sr.

July 21, 1998

Allen C. Shoenberger Sr., 92, of RD 3 Kunkletown, died Tuesday in the Palmerton Hospital.

He was the husband of the late Lottie (Kresge) Shoenberger.

Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Oliver and Jane (Behler) Shoenberger.

He had co-owned and operated Shoenberger's Store in Kunkletown for many years before retiring in 1984.

He was a member of St. Matthews United Church of Christ in Kunkletown and the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Co.

He is survived by a son, Allen C. Shoenberger Jr. of RD 3 Kunkletown; a grandson, Glenn Shoenberger of Palmerton; a great grandson, Bryan Shoenberger of Palmerton; and two sisters , Pauline Craig of RD 3 Kunkletown and Dorothy Johnson of Palmerton.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Kresge Funeral Home, Route 209 Brodheadsville, with the Rev. Robert Harting officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthews Cemetery, Kunkletown. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Margaret "Marge" M. Pilz

July 21, 1998

Margaret "Marge" M. Pilz, of Saylorsburg, died Tuesday at the Pocono Medical Center, in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late William Pilz.

Born in Easton, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Schultz Albus.

She worked as a waitress at the Colonial Restaurant in Easton for 30 years before retiring in 1988.

She is survived by 4 daughters , Cheri Searfass of Bethlehem Twp., Traci DeSimone of Jonas, Necie Tittle of Saylorsburg, and Shellie LaFever of Saylorsburg; a son, Edward of Easton; 2 brothers , John of Easton and Paul of Bethlehem; 3 sisters , Susan Albus of Easton, Joanne Stafford of Oceanside, Calif., and Rosemary Straub of Tatamy; and 6 grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Jeffrey LaFever.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Blue Ridge Hook & Ladder.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday 2 p.m. at the Ashton Funeral Home, 14th and Northampton Streets in Easton. Interment will take place in Easton Cemetery.

Friends and family may call Thursday 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
