William F. Sanders

William F. (Beany) Sanders, 75, of Stroudsburg, died on Monday at Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Mary (Lisik) Sanders, they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary last October.
Born in Bangor, he was the son of the late Edwin and Edith (Hinton) Sanders.
He was a 1940 graduate of Stroudsburg High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II aboard the USS Hope, serving in the Southern Philippines, Western Pacific, Eastern Mandates, Luzon Bismarck Archipelago, New Guinea and Ryukus battles and campaigns.
He worked for Sears, Roebuck and Co. as the Automotive Manager, for 33 years, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of the Stroudsburg United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters , Bonnie Cramsey of Stroudsburg and Carol Decker of Stroudsburg; a brother, John Sanders of Pottstown; and 3 grandchildren, Kierstin, Danielle and Bill.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 25 at 11 a.m. from the Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North Fifth Street, Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Thomas Anderman and Rev. George S. Rigby Jr. officiating. Burial will take place at Delaware Water Gap Cemetery.
A viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Shirley L. Dippre, 57, of RD#3, Stroudsburg, died Thursday morning in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of Robert Dippre to whom she had been married for 34 years in June of this year.
Born on October 24, 1940 in Analomink, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Miller) Winters and was a lifetime resident of Monroe County.
A graduate of Stroudsburg High School, she was a licensed practical nurse having worked as a home health nurse for several different agencies over the years.
She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church and the T.O.P.S. Club, both in Tannersville.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Karen, wife of Guy Doleiden of Bartonsville; two sons , Joseph Dippre and Jeffrey Dippre, both at home; three brothers , Paul Winters of East Stroudsburg, Harold Winters of Victorville, Calif., and Clifford Winters of Bushkill; two sisters , Betty Whitmore of Nicholson and Lulu Winters of East Stroudsburg; a grandson, Greggory Doleiden of Bartonsville; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 29 at 10:30 a.m. from Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church, Route 611, Tannersville, with the Rev. Henry E. Zapotocki as celebrant. Burial will follow in Sand Hill Cemetery, Shoemakers, Middle Smithfield Township.
There will be a viewing on Tuesday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. from the William H. Clark Funeral Home, .

Henry "Hank" Stocker

Henry "Hank" Stocker, 65, of Springfield, Va., died Sunday at his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Betty P. (Gardner) Stocker who died in 1983.
Born on May 21, 1933 in Elizabeth, N.J., he was the son of the late Heinrich and Elsie (Vossburch) Stocker and had lived in Virginia for the past twenty-two years. A graduate of Rutgers University, he was decorated throughout his distinguished 28 year career as an Air Force Officer and was highly regarded during his "second career" as a consultant to the US State Department.
He was the devoted Father of son and daughter-in-law, Mark K. Lindsey Stocker, of Springfield, Va.; and loving grandfather of Samantha, Tori and Kodiak Stocker. Also surviving are his mother -in-law, Pearl Gardner of East Stroudsburg; sister-in-law, Joan Allen of East Stroudsburg; and a niece, Wendy Miller of East Stroudsburg.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, . Interment with military honors will follow in the Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.
There will be a visitation on Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 4 p.m. at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 8304 Old Keene Mill Road, Springfield, Va.

Ida M. Van Why, 91, of East Stroudsburg, died Sunday Sept. 27, in Laurel Manor Nursing Home, Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Jeffrey S. Van why.
Born in Woodale, she was the daughter of the late Wilson and Nora Cramer. She was a life-long resident of Monroe County.
She was a member of the Beakleyville Baptist Church.
She is survived by two grandsons, Gary Lesoine of Stroudsburg and Graig (That's right) Lesoine of East Stroudsburg; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean N. Lesoine.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 1:30 p.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg, with Rev. Arthur L. Benjamin officiating.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday from noon until the time of the service. Interment will take place in Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.

Gretal Eleanor Gometro, 74, of Mansfield Township, Warren County, New Jersey, died Friday, Sept. 25, at Easton Hospital, Easton. She was the wife of Michael Gometro at home. They were married 37 years.
Born in Newark, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Rufus Snow and the late Lula Marion Evans Snow.
She was school cafeteria manager for the Mansfield Township school system. She worked as a bookeeper for various companies. She also operated Gretal's Hut Restaurant in White Township, N.J. in the early 1960s.
She served as president of the Belvidere High School Alumni Association in 1967-68. She was a founding member and first president of the Mansfield Township Taxpayers Association.
She served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. She is survived by two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Cremation will take place at H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.

Chester Flower Jr., 67, of RD 1, Scotrun, died Sunday in his home.
Born in Mount Pocono, he was a son of the late Chester Sr. and the late Evelyn (Werkheiser) Flower.
He had been a self-employed painter and carpenter for 45 years, retiring in 1993.
He is survived by a companion, Claire Binkley, with whom he resided; a sister, Joyce, in Utah, and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday from Long Pond Cemetery with the Rev. Gerald Miller officiating. Interment will follow. There will be no viewing.

She was the wife of the late Charles Catillo.
Born in Newark, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Paul and Thelma (Seals) Slater.
She had been a wire solderer at NuCor in Denville, N.J., for 15 years, retiring in 1978.
She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Dover, N.J.
She is survived by a son, Jerry Poburski of Kresgeville; a stepson, Charles Catillo of Great Meadows, N.J.; a sister, Margaret Poburski in Florida; and three grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday from the Kresge Funeral Home, , with the Rev. Jack Rule officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Mt. Freedom Cemetery, Mt. Freedom, N.J. There will be no viewing.

George D. Butts, 87, of East Stroudsburg, died on Sunday at Stroud Manor, East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Spring) Butts.
Born in Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late Irvin and Anna (Heller) Butts.
He was the meat manager for A. & P. for 30 years, retiring in 1973.
He was a member of the East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church.
He was a member of the Acme Hose Fire Company, East Stroudsburg since 1942, and also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
He is survived by a brother, Calvin Butts of Stroudsburg.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 25 at 1 p.m. from the Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North Fifth Street, Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Raymond Poorstra officiating.
Burial will be in the Stroudsburg Cemetery.
