Rose P. Pansy, 87, of Stroudsburg died Sunday, Aug. 30 in the Pleasant Valley Manor Nursing Home in Snydersville, where she was a resident.
Born in Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Grace (Ciampi) Pansy. She was a lifelong resident of the Stroudsburg area and was employed at the former Holland Thread Mill of Stroudsburg for many years. She was a member of St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church of Stroudsburg.
She is survived by two nieces, Grace Loney and Joanne Burch, both of Stroudsburg, and a nephew, John Pansy, of Stroudsburg.
Private graveside funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family in the Laurelwood Cemetery. Interment will follow the services.

Mary A. Colondo, 85, of Plains Twp., died Thursday morning, July 2, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Ann Marie Morano Balascio and was educated in the Wilkes-Barre area schools.
She had resided in Plains since 1940 and, with her late husband, Anthony, owned and operated a coffee shop and gas station on West Carey Street, Plains, for many years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Plains; the Plains Senior Citizens; and the Federation of Senior Citizens.
Preceding her in death in addition to her husband, Anthony, is her sister, Rose Supplee, and brothers , Joseph, Anthony, and Albert.
Surviving is her son, Anthony of East Stroudsburg and daughter, Joan McCormack, of Succasunna, N.J.; 2 grandsons; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral was held with a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church, Plains. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Dorothy A. Nagy, 82, of Stroudsburg, died on Tuesday at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Peter J. Nagy, who died in February.
Born in North Bergen, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Albert and Agnes (Eldershaw) Coyte.
She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Serfass of Saylorsburg; two sons , Peter T. Nagy of Inglis, Fla., and James Nagy of Sedona, Ariz.; three sisters , Marie Vanetten of Wharton, N.J., Helen Wyler of Long Island, N.Y., and Margaret Larson of Juniper, Fla; four brothers , Charles Coyte of Florida, Thomas Coyte of Florida, Harry Coyte of Maryland and Lester Coyte of Lincoln Park, N.J.; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held today Sept. 4 at 2 p.m. from the Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North Fifth St., Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Thomas Anderman officiating. Cremation will take place at the H.G. Crematory, Stroudsburg.
There will be a viewing today Sept. 4 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ralph L. Showers, 88, of Newfoundland and Garden City, N.Y., died Tuesday at his Newfoundland home.
He was the husband of Loretta Carlson Showers, at home.
Born in Kewanee, Ill., the son of the late Karl and Viola Dunlap Showers, he had owned and operated a trucking business in New York prior to his retirement in 1977.
Ralph was an Army Veteran of the South Pacific in World War II.
He was a member of the LaAnna United Methodist Church; a Charter member of Phillips Zacharias Phillips Post 859 American Legion in Newfoundland; and a member of William Bradford Turner Post 265 American Legion in Garden City.
He was also a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles 1106 in Stroudsburg; and a member of the NRA.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters , Lucille Strom of Sacramento, Calif., and Helen Brown of Madera, Calif.; one brother, Frank Showers of Phoenix, Ariz.; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 5 at 11 a.m. in the LaAnna United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Nathan R. Gilpin officiating.
Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery in South Sterling.
Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Arthur J. Frey Funeral Home, Route 191, LaAnna.

Lewis T. Mercantini

Lewis T. Mercantini, 82, of Scotrun, died suddenly Monday at his residence here. Born in Bordentown, N.J., he had resided in Bordentown most of his life before moving to Scotrun in 1975.
He was a retired employee of General Motors where he was a Tool and Die Setter. He was also an Army veteran of World War II where he served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre.
Mr. Mercantini was a member of Our Lady of Victory R.C. Church of Tannersville; VFW Post #2540 of Stroudsburg; the Senior Citizens Group; and was a former member of the Humane Fire Company of Bordentown, N.J.
He was the husband of the late Hazel M. Mercantini and the Father of the late Louis T. Mercantini, II.
He is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Melfy of Seminole, Fla.; a sister, Emily Agmenio of New Port Richey, Fla.; four grandchildren, Terry Ann Melfy, Ronald Melfy, Louis Mercantini, III, and Michael Mercantini; a daughter in law, Bonnie Mercantini of Scotrun; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Crosswicks Street, Bordentown, N.J., with the Rev. Michael Burns, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Huber Funeral Home, 517 Farnsworth Avenue, Bordentown, N.J.

Robert A. Doyle, 71, of Tobyhanna, died on Sept. 6, 1998.
He was the devoted husband of Joan (Hickman) Doyle; beloved Father of Lorraine, Christopher, Kelly Ann LeMoine, Sean, and the late Timothy and Robert Jr.; and cherished grandfather of six.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 7 to 10 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m. at the Marine Park Funeral Home, 3024 Quentin Road, Brooklyn, N.Y. Shirley H. Shoemaker, 67, of Allegheny Road, Mt. Bethel, died Wednesday morning, at her residence.
She was the wife of Wallace A. Shoemaker. The couple celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on September 5.
Born March 24, 1931, in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Helen S.(Roux) Roberts.
Mrs. Shoemaker was employed by Riverside Farms and Greenhouses, Mt. Bethel, as a transplanter. She worked there for 25 years, retiring in 1997. She was also a short order cook at O'Neill's Place, Portland, for several years.
She was of the Presbyterian faith. She was a former member of the Portland Ambulance Ladies Auxiliary, Portland.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by 1 daughter, Shari S. Shoemaker, at home; 2 brothers , Robert Roberts of Stroudsburg and Charles Roberts of Analomink. A daughter, Debbie Shoemaker, died earlier.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing. The Hough Home for Funerals, Inc., 207 Market Street, Bangor, is in charge of the arrangements.

John J. Getley, 81, a retired chemical company employee, died Sunday at his home in Arrowhead Lake, Pocono Lake Township, where he had lived since retiring 24 years ago. Mr. Getley had been in failing health since suffering a stroke a year ago.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Leon and Julia (Higgins) Getley. He served as Ships Serviceman 3rd Class in the United States Navy during WWII, aboard the USS Cowpens, an aircraft carrier.
After the war, he was active in veterans groups having served six times as Post Commander of VFW Post 2, Bridesburg, as well as an active member. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 413, Pocono Pines.
Prior to retiring, he was a chemical worker for Rohm & Haas in Philadelphia.
He is survived by a son, Joseph Getley; a step-daughter, Eileen Mack; and three stepsons, Edward, William and Robert Lawrence. Also surviving are twenty-three grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
A Mass for the Dead will be celebrated on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Christ The King Church, Route 115, Blakeslee Corners, Blakeslee, Fr. Raymond Deviney will officiate.

Mary Jane Cincotta, 67, of East Stroudsburg, died Thursday, September 10 at her home. She was the husband of Dominick J. Cincotta.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late James and Veronica (Boyle) Connors. She was a resident of the Stroudsburg area for the past 27 years and prior to that lived in the Brooklyn, N.Y. area. Along with her husband, she owned and operated the former Chiam Restaurant of Stroudsburg from 1970 to 1978. She was a member of St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Church of East Stroudsburg.
In addition to her husband she is survived by a daughter and son in law, Debbie and Charles McKellick of East Stroudsburg; two sons , Robert J. Cincotta and William Cincotta, both of Rockaway, N.Y.; a brother, James Connors of Califon, N.J.; a sister, Emma Adele Comboy of Monroe, N.Y.; and five grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Sept. 14 at 10 a.m. from St. Matthews Roman Catholic Church in East Stroudsburg with the Monsignor John A. Bergamo as celebrant. Burial will be in the Laurelwood Cemetery in Stroudsburg. Visitation will be on Sunday, Sept. 13 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, 23 N. 9th Street, Stroudsburg, with a prayer service being conducted at 4:30 p.m.

Robert A. Paul

Robert A. Paul, 75, of Stroudsburg, died Wednesday, Sept. 9 at his home. He was the husband of Delores G. (Possinger) Paul to whom he was married for 45 years.
Born in Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late Allan and Catherine (Franks) Paul. He was a life long resident of the Stroudsburg area. In his early years he worked at the former Ronson Corp. of Delaware Water Gap, and later was employed as a Photo repairman at the Tobyhanna Army Depot for 20 years retiring in 1974. He was manager of the Hill Motor Lodge of Tannersville until the present.
He was a Marine and Army veteran having served in World War II. He attended the Calvary Baptist Church of Stroudsburg and was a member of the Barger Lodge #325 F.&A.M. of Stroudsburg, and the Scottish Rite Lodge Consistory, Scranton.
In addition to his wife he is survived by five daughters : Carole Urban of Cheraw, S.C., Beverly Strong of Reeders, Diane Grebb and Theresa Shupp, both of Stroudsburg, and Desiree Boling of Minot, N.D.; two sons , Gorden Hilliard of Reeders and Richard Hilliard of Palm Bay, Fla.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Ronald C. Strong who died in 1987.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 14 at 2 p.m. from the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, 23 North Ninth Street, Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Paul Stevenson officiating. Burial will be in the Laurelwood Cemetery in Stroudsburg.
Visitation will be on Monday, Sept. 14 from 1 p.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home.
