MARY (KUZY) BALKOVEC

Mary (Kuzy) Balkovec, of Baldwin, formerly of Washington , Pa., died peacefully at home with her family on Tuesday, March 21, 2000. Beloved wife of the late Stephen Balkovec. Dear mother of Donna (Blair) Mahoney of Jefferson Hills, Jan (Bill) Puhl of Baldwin, Debby (Brian) Rampolla of White hall, and the late Karen and John Bogus. Dear grandma of William Puhl of Wilcox, Pa., Jason, Stephen and Jeffery Mahoney of Jefferson Hills and Christopher and Lauren Rampolla of White hall. Friends received at the JOHN F. SLATER FUNERAL HOME INC., 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood, Thursday 7-9 p.m. and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral prayer Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Wendelin Church at 10 a.m. Interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Mary was a member of the St. Wendelin Church Choir for 28 years and a volunteer at Kane Hospital for many years. Mary's wish was to thank all of you who touched her in life and helped her with her journey home.

GEORGE WESLEY BROKER

George Wesley Broker, 63, of North Huntingdon, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at home. He was born Oct. 14, 1936, in Greensburg, a son of Mabel L. Kiehl Broker Elliott of North Huntingdon and the late George W. Broker. He was a former draftsman for the John W. Galbraith Co. and had attended The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, Irwin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, a member of the Greater Greensburg Detachment of the Marine Corps League, and the National Rifle Association. In addition to his mother , he is survived by two daughters , Debbie Ann Broker of Irwin and Nadine A. Pomposelli and her husband, Angelo, of North Huntingdon; and three grandchildren, Jacqueline P. Kelly, Dominic A. Pomposelli and Davina G. Broker. Friends received at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. John C. Pressler officiating. Interment will follow in Long Run Cemetery, North Huntingdon.

JESSIE MARIE COVNER

Jessie Marie Covner, 70, of Youngwood, died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at home. She was born Jan. 30, 1930, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Harry Grover and Jessie Margarite Williams Tompkins. She was a secretary for the engineering department for Robertshaw Controls of New Stanton. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Youngwood; a member and treasurer of Principessa Marie Jose #43 of sons of Columbus; AARP; Senior Citizens of the Presbyterian Church in Youngwood; and Lutheran Church Women. Also she was a former Youngwood election board member and a former volunteer for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile. She is survived by her husband, Joseph C. Covner; three daughters , Mrs. David (Joyce) Bouchard of Frederick, Md., the Rev. Richard (Rev. Janyce) Jorgensen of Jacobus, Pa., and Mrs. Brad (Joanne) Watkiss of Arona; two grandchildren, Mark Joseph Jorgensen and Leah Frances Jorgensen; and a brother, Fredrick Tompkins of Youngwood. Friends received at the C. RICHARD McCAULEY FUNERAL HOME INC., Youngwood, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in St. Luke's Church, Youngwood, Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Theodore Bessey officiating. Interment Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. Family suggests memorial contributions to either the Youngwood Area Library or to St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Youngwood.

AGNES P. FARRAH

Agnes P. Farrah, 81, of Brown Street, Everson, passed away Wednesday morning, March 22, 2000, in Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Family and friends were received Thursday at the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, (724) 887-5300, where a prayer service will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at noon in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Emil S. Payer as celebrant. Graveside committal services and interment will follow in Scottdale Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to: St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, 416 S. Broadway, Scottdale, PA 15683, in memory of Agnes P. Farrah.

BERL K. HOLDERBAUM

Berl K. Holderbaum, 75, of Circleville, North Huntingdon, died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Jan. 3, 1925, in Circleville, a son of the late James and Alice Leasure Holderbaum. He was owner/operator of Welty's Auto Parts Store in Irwin, where he worked since 1945 and became owner in 1981. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy, and was a member of the St. Agnes Catholic Church of North Huntingdon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers , William, John, and Milton Holderbaum; and a sister, Kathryn Holderbaum. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Lena Coccia Holderbaum; a son, Robert Berl and wife, Diane Holderbaum, and a granddaughter, Sarah Beth Holderbaum, all of North Huntingdon; a sister, Elsie Woleslagle of North Huntingdon; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the JOSEPH F. OTT FUNERAL HOME INC., Fifth and Oak streets, Irwin, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the New St. Joseph Cemetery, North Versailles.

GLORIA ROSE HUTCHISON

Gloria Rose Hutchison, 53, of North Versailles and North Huntingdon, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000. mother of Jeannie and James Aber of North Versailles and North Huntingdon; sister of Lewis (wife, Joann) Bromer of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, William (wife, Barbara) Hutchison of Greensburg and the late James Hutchison; grandmother of A.J. Cerra; and aunt of Curtis, Cindy, Chrissie and William. Friends received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the WM. O. PEARCE FUNERAL HOME INC., 318 Wall Ave., Pitcairn, where services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m.

WAYNE L. JOHNS

Wayne L. Johns, 81, of North Huntingdon, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, in Mt. Pleasant. He was born Feb. 24, 1919, in Rillton, a son of the late Robert W. and Sarah (Ludwick) Johns. He was a self-employed business owner for Dairy Queen Association of Pennsylvania Inc. He was first secretary-treasurer of the Norwin Band Aids, 25 years operational manager for Gibraltor Refinery and Chemical Co., a past president and member of the Dairy Queen Association of Pennsylvania since 1954 and also secretary-treasurer for 25 years, a member of Shidle Lodge F&AM #601, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Pittsburgh, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Westmoreland Forest #77, and Immanuel Lutheran Church, Irwin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marian (Carlson) Johns; and three brothers , Frank, Harry, and Robert W. Johns. Survived by a son, William W. Johns and wife, Trudy, of North Huntingdon; a daughter, Dr. Sandra Davidson and husband, Timothy, of Columbus, N.C.; a brother, Jay Johns of New Stanton; three grandchildren, Steven W. Johns of Tacoma, Wash., Michael E. Johns of Ruffsdale, and Amanda L. Johns of North Huntingdon; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Jane Miner of Mt. Pleasant. Friends will be received at the VINCENT V. RODGERS FUNERAL HOME, 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 612 Chestnut St., Irwin, with the Rev. Norman E. Nething officiating. Interment Irwin Union Cemetery.

ANNE L. (MELEGA) MELAGO

Anne L. (Melega) Melago, 85, of Bovard, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, in the St. Anne Home for the Elderly in Greensburg. She was born Oct. 17, 1914, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Andrew and Elizabeth Lazur Lukan. She was a member of St. Bede Roman Catholic Church in Bovard, the Altar Rosary Society of the church, and Catholic daughters of America Court Seton #306 in Greensburg. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Phyllis A. Steeley; a brother, George Lukan; and two sisters , Elizabeth Lukan and Mary Shambora. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John E. Melago. The Melagos were the oldest living, married couple in Bovard. She is also survived by two sons , Eugene Melago of Bovard and Robert A. Melago and his wife, Linda, of Greensburg; two daughters , Elizabeth Santo of Bovard and Nancy Miles of Greensburg; a son-in-law, James V. Steeley of Greensburg; nine grandchildren, Tony Parfitt and his wife, Michelle, Ann Parfitt, Andrea Parfitt, Tim Melago, Carrie Melago, Jim Steeley and his wife, Danielle, Amy Steeley Grace and her husband, Jeff, Josh Miles and Jason Miles; a great-grandson, Eric Parfitt; a sister, Mrs. Helen Rapach of Bovard; and several nieces and nephews. Friends received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Friday at 10:15 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Bede Roman Catholic Church, Bovard, with the Rev. Brinstan G. Takach, O.S.B., as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Greensburg Catholic Cemetery. Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the St. Anne Home for the Elderly, 685 Angela Drive, Greensburg, PA 15601. The CD of A Court Seton #306 and the St. Bede Altar Rosary Society will meet at the funeral home Thursday at 3 p.m. to recite the rosary. Anne's family would like to give sincere thanks to the sisters and entire staff of St. Anne Home for their loving and thoughtful care shown to her during her stay at St. Anne Home.

GEORGE A. MILKO

George A. Milko died suddenly Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at his residence in Edgewood, at age 38. Mr. Milko was born Jan. 19, 1962, in Pittsburgh, to Gene and Jean Visnansky Milko, Allegheny County Jury Commissioner. Loving Father of Allison Michelle. Dear brother of Jeanine Horne and her husband, Dr. Joseph R. Horne, of Hampton. uncle of Courtney and J.R. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the THOMAS L. MICHELE LYNN O'KEEFE

Michele Lynn O'Keefe, 29, of Mt. Oliver, suddenly on Tuesday, March 21, 2000. Daughter of Margaret (Pegg) O'Keefe and the late James E. O'Keefe. Sister of Elizabeth Nash, James, Joseph, and Daniel O'Keefe, and the late Michael Pegg. aunt of Tammy, Jessica, and David Nash, Daniel Jr., Jeffrey, Julie, Jennifer, Jamie, Tina, and James E. O'Keefe. Godmother of Damien Dayton. Dear friend of Cindy Brooks. CHARLES W. ROADMAN

Charles W. Roadman, 79, of Port Charlotte, Fla., formerly of Jones Mills, Pa., who had resided for six months of the year in Donegal, died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at 8:45 a.m. Born July 5, 1920. He was preceded in death by his mother , Grace B. Monticue and his stepfather, Theodore R. Monticue; and his Father , James Roadman. Also a brother, Robert L. Monticue. Survived by his wife, Ruth Clark Roadman; two sisters , Betty Monticue-Yeckel and Shirley Monticue-Chearney; six children, Carol Mae Benson, Charlene Thomas, Cindy Roadman, Charlotte Roadman-Johnson, Thomas Roadman and Charles "Buzz" Roadman; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 12 nieces and nephews. He was in the 1st Division of the Big Red One, Blue Spaders, the 27th Division, World War II, and the 26th Infantry in Africa. He was acting 1st sergeant across the Rhine. He earned the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart with seven Bronze Stars. Also he was a Tech Sergeant. THERESA M. KAPPEL SHANAHAN

Theresa M. "Tess" Kappel Shanahan, 65, of White hall, on Wednesday, March 22, 2000. Dearly beloved wife of Robert E. Loving mother of Mary Jo, Jack (Chris), Gary, Barbara (Dan) Riley, Joseph (Kimberly), Thomas (Cheryl), and the late Robert E. Jr. and James M. Beloved sister of Laverne Oatman, Anna Mae Wurthner, Regis Kappel, and the late Grace Andregg. Loving and devoted "Me-Me" of Jonathan, Lauren, Katie, Ashley, Meghan, Alyssa, James, Justin, Tommy Will also be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews. Friends received at the JOHN F. JOSEPHINE FIGIEL UCHRINSCKO

Josephine Figiel Uchrinscko, 87, of Water Street, West Newton, died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. She was born April 28, 1912, in Wyano, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Figiel. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in West Newton (South Huntingdon Township) and the West Newton Senior Center. She had been employed at the former Ron's Restaurant on Main Street in West Newton. Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Uchrinscko; a daughter, Jacqueline Ritzer; two brothers , Bernard and Mike Figiel; and a sister, Waja Boltich. She is survived by a son, Alan Wayne Uchrinscko of Jeannette; a son-in-law, Donald Ritzer of Charleroi; three grandsons and a granddaughter, Geary Shipley and his wife, Kymberly, of Charleroi, Glenn Shipley and his wife, Stacey, of Charleroi, Julie Puckey and her husband, Steven, of West Newton and Alan Uchrinscko of New York City, N.Y.; four great-grandchildren; two sisters , Emily Peternal of Collinsburg and Caroline Boord and her husband, Warren, of Belle Vernon; two brothers , Florian Figiel and his wife, Lilian, of Collinsburg and Walter Figiel and his wife, Darlene, of Berea, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the RICHARD F. DODSON FUNERAL HOME, 213 Main St., West Newton, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Gary F. Schult officiating.
