John P. Buleza, 79, late of Lord's Valley, Hawley, PA died Saturday, June 13, 1998 at Presbyterian Medical Center of Philadelphia, PA. He was a member of St. John Neumann Church and St. John Neumann Holy Name Society, Hawley, PA. He was a W.W.II Navy veteran, having served as a radio operator on the USS San Juan in the Pacific. He was educated at the Duryea, PA elementary and high schools and was a graduate of Fordham University, New York, NY receiving a degree in accounting. Mr. Buleza was a certified public accountant for 27 years for Coopers and LyBrand of Cleveland, Ohio. He also taught courses in elementary and advanced auditing at Drew University in Madison, NJ for Coopers summer sessions. He was a vice president for Physicians Insuring Exchange, Cleveland, Ohio. In his early years he played saxophone and clarinet with the Charles Masters Orchestra, Duryea, PA. He was a member of American Institute of CPA's, Ohio Society of CPA's and the Lord's Valley Rotary Club.
He was born on July 13, 1918 in Duryea, PA to John and Mary (Powell) Buleza. He was married to Alvina (Aruscavage) Buleza. On April 19, 1998 they celebrated their 51st anniversary.
Survivors include his wife, at home; one brother, Daniel Buleza of DuBois, PA; two sisters , Marie Sponenberg of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Ann Ferguson of Palm Coast, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.
A mass of the resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday, June 18, 1998 at St. John Neumann Church at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Joseph Orleski celebrant.
Friends may call at Stroyan Funeral Home, Inc., 405 W. Harford St., Milford, PA from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 1998.
Burial will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Duryea, PA.

William G. Rogers, 79, of Effort, died Sunday, June 14, 1998, at Pocono Hospital, East Stroudsburg.
Born in Devon, PA, July 21, 1918, he was the son of the late Caroline M. Gilmore.
He and his wife, the former Phyllis H. Hartranft, celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary this past October.
Before retiring in 1983, after 27 years of services, he was a Fork Lift Operator, for the Phoenix Steel, Claymont, Delaware.
He was a W.W.II Army Infantry; serving in the Philippines.
He was a member of the Glenolden American Legion, Post Number 507, and was a life member of the Sun Valley Fire Co.
He was of the Protestant faith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Leslie J. Sawyer, wife of Richard, of Effort, and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 18, 1998, at 11 a.m., at Edgewood Memorial Park, Glen Mills, PA. There will be a viewing, Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Inc., Route 209, Gilbert, PA.

Irene May Scheller

Irene May Scheller, 90, of RR 5 Kunkletown, died Saturday in Pleasant Valley Manor, Snydersville. She was the wife of the late Dewey D. Scheller.
Born in Palmerton, she was a daughter of the late Silas and Carrie (Leickel) Heydt.
She had been a cook and baker at the Sunset Diner in Kresgeville for 12 years, retiring in 1972. She won numerous awards for her baking skills. In 1956, she won 13 blue ribbons at the West End Fair and twice was awarded silver plates from Betty Crocker for top honors in the baked goods competition.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran in Effort and a former member of the church's auxiliary. She was also a member of the Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary in Kresgeville.
She is survived by two sons , Sterling J. Scheller of R.R. 3 Kunkletown and Norman D. Scheller of Effort; two daughters , Eva E. Knecht of Brodheadsville, and Dorothy V. Roth of Belvidere, N.J.; six grandsons, Kevin Scheller of Brodheadsville, Kim and Keith Scheller, both of Saylorsburg, Kurt, David, and Michael Scheller, all of Effort; and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday from the Kresge Funeral Home, Route 209, Brodheadsville, with the Rev. Michael Frost officiating. Burial will be in Gilbert Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

James P. Kiernan, 77, of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, died Friday morning in the Bougainvilla Hospice, Ft. Lauderdale.
Born on July 13, 1920, in New York, NY, he was a son of the late Bernard and Anna (Walsh) Kiernan, and had lived most of his life in New York City until moving to Ft. Lauderdale eight years ago.
He was the aquatic director of the YMCA in Flushing, NY and was also a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II in the Pacific.
He was a coach being named to the Swimming Hall of Fame in Ft. Lauderdale, was a certified scuba diver and a member of the American Legion in Ft. Lauderdale.
Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Peg Kiernan, of Henryville; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Kiernan, of Norristown, PA; five nephews, two nieces; three great nephews; and eight great nieces. He was predeceased by a brother, John Kiernan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church, Route 611, Tannersville with the Rev. Henry E. Zapotocki as celebrant. Burial will follow in Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.

Lorraine Farris Torres, 82, of East Stroudsburg, died Wednesday in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Andrew "Andy" Farris and the late Frank Torres.
Born on April 3, 1916, in East Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of the late Sheldon Deubler and the late Ethel Margaret (Deihl) Deubler Weiss and had lived in the area all of her life. She was known as the "Want Ad Lady" working for radio station WVPO-WSBG in Stroudsburg for thirty-seven years to the present as an advertising executive.
A graduate of East Stroudsburg High School and East Stroudsburg State Teachers College (East Stroudsburg University), she was a member of the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, East Stroudsburg; the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1106 Auxiliary; and the Golden K Club of Stroudsburg. She was the organizer and first President of the East Stroudsburg Football mother 's Assoc.; served two consecutive years as President of the Pocono Singles Club; and served as the Democratic 3rd Ward Committee Woman in East Stroudsburg.
She is survived by a son, Brian Farris, husband of Linda of Export; a daughter, Andrea Farris of Harrisburg; a stepson, Frank V. Torres of Denver, Colo.; a granddaughter, Darleen Farris of Export; a grandson, Michael Farris of East Stroudsburg; a great grandson, Robert Brian Farris of East Stroudsburg; two brothers , Dr. Carl Broock Weiss of Canadensis and Douglas Weiss of Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Betty Tretheway Snover of East Stroudsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, with Rev. Phyllis M. Hammel officiating. Burial will follow in the Stroudsburg Cemetery.
There will be a viewing on Thursday (tonight) from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Friday from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Carol A. Wenner, 45, of Catasauqua, died Wednesday at her home. She was the wife of Dennis J. Wenner, at home. They had celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary in October, 1997.
She had been a crossing guard at Lincoln Middle School in Catasauqua for 7 years and prior to that had been employed at the former Coffee Shop at Sears & Roebuck in White hall for 15 years.
Born in East Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of Evelyn B. (Taylor) Strunk Smith of East Stroudsburg and the late Charles E. Strunk, Sr., She was also the stepdaughter of the late Byron D. Smith.
She was of the Lutheran faith.
In addition to her husband and mother , she is survived by two daughters , Jennifer A. Wenner of Allentown and Tiffany L. Wenner, at home; one brother, Charles E. Strunk, Jr., of North Carolina; and three sisters , Alice, wife of Frank Manhart of Marshalls Creek, Barbara Belasco of East Stroudsburg, and Wanda, wife of Roger Butz of Tannersville.
Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 417 N. Seventh St., Allentown. Calling hours will be from noon until the time of the service.

Thomas J. Spindler, 73, of Tobyhanna, died Wednesday in the Lehigh Valley Medical Center, Allentown. He was the husband of Margaret "Peg" A. (Farrell) Spindler with whom he celebrated 47 years of marriage.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Louis and Helen (Marshall) Spindler. He was a resident of Tobyhanna for the past 5 years and prior to that he lived in the Old Bethpage, Long Island, N.Y., area.
He was employed as a Sales Engineer for many years, having worked for the Morse Cutting Tool Co. of Westchester County, N.Y., and the Package Pavement Co. of Stormville, N.Y., for 10 years retiring in 1992.
He was a member of St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church of Tobyhanna and was a Navy/Air Force veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Mt. Pocono Knights of Columbus Council #4159 and was a member of the K. of C. Assembly #981, Tobyhanna, having served as past faithful navigator. He was also a member of the American Legion, West Islip, N.Y.
In addition to this wife, he is survived by 5 daughters , Susan Bryant of E. Kingston, Pa., Janice Anderson of Rowayton, Conn., Valerie Vigliotti of Taneytown, Md., Carolyn Stomola of Shaftsburg, Vt., and Allison Musone of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister, Ethel Sutherland of W. Islip, N.Y.; and 7 grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 16, at 10:30 a.m. from Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, Pocono Pines, with the Rev. Father Thomas J. Maloney as celebrant. Burial will be in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Pa.
Visitation will be on Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, . The Knights of Columbus will conduct full Honor Guard on Sunday evening.
A prayer service will be conducted on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bertrand Stark Moore, 74, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, N.J., died Tuesday in the Madison Care Elder Care Center, Matawan, N.J.
Services will be held at 8:30 p.m., Friday evening in the Corey & Corey Funeral Home, 259 Elm Avenue, Rahway.
Prior to his retirement in 1989, Mr. Moore worked as a salesman and computer operator for the Elizabethtown Gas Co., in Elizabeth, for 30 years.
He served in the Marine Corps during peacetime.
Mr. Moore was a volunteer for several Alcoholics Anonymous chapters in Middlesex and Union counties in New Jersey.
Born in Elizabeth, N.J., he moved to Parlin in 1987.
Surviving are his wife, Eleanor; a son, Ronald E.; two daughters , Patricia Moore and Mrs. Pamela Black; three grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Nancy M. Trapasso, 71, East Stroudsburg, died on Wednesday at her home. She was the wife of Vincent M. Trapasso.
Born in West Orange, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Carmine and Theresa Capella.
She, along with her husband, were in the boating industry in Lake Hopatcong for many years.
She is survived by three sons , Vincent Trapasso of East Stroudsburg, Louis V. Trapasso of Newton, N.J., and Vito Trapasso of Central Valley, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. from the Stanhope Union Cemetery in Stanhope, N.J.
