Carl G. Geohringer, 94, of East Stroudsburg, died Saturday evening at his home. He was the husband of Gloria Barbara "Bobby" (Gagliardi) Geohringer, at home.
Born on April 20, 1904, in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Charles and Katie (Falter) Geohringer. He had attended the Harrisburg Technical High School graduating in 1927 from the Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, Minn. Also in the 1920s, he managed the Red Dragons Industrial League baseball team in Harrisburg. He had lived in the Bergen County, N.J. area from 1931 to 1969 where he worked for the Intercity Bus Company, now the N.J. Transit, for 38 years. He was also a self-employed ceramic tile contractor.
He was a member of the Tech Golden Legion for 37 years and the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen for over 60 years.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rachel (Goodyear) Geohringer in 1968 and a daughter, Nancy Geohringer in 1935.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, , with Father Thomas Sokolowski and Rev. Thomas E. Richards Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.
There will be visitation on Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

William G. Rogers, 79, of Effort, died Sunday, June 14, 1998, at Pocono Hospital, East Stroudsburg.
Born in Devon, PA, July 21, 1918, he was the son of the late Caroline M. Gilmore.
He and his wife, the former Phyllis H. Hartranft, celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary this past October.
Before retiring in 1983, after 27 years of services, he was a Fork Lift Operator, for the Phoenix Steel, Claymont, Delaware.
He was a W.W.II Army Infantry; serving in the Philippines.
He was a member of the Glenolden American Legion, Post Number 507, and was a life member of the Sun Valley Fire Co.
He was of the Protestant faith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Leslie J. Sawyer, wife of Richard, of Effort, and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 18, 1998, at 11 a.m., at Edgewood Memorial Park, Glen Mills, PA. There will be a viewing, Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Inc., Route 209, Gilbert, PA.

Michael T. Paszkowski

Michael T. Paszkowski, 49, of East Stroudsburg, died on Sunday, June 14, at the Lehigh Valley Hospital in Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Diane (Kaleida) Paszkowski, at home.
He was born in Scranton, a son of the late Stanley and Anna (Tanchyn) Paszkowski. He was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church of East Stroudsburg and a resident of Monroe County for the past 24 years.
He was an East Stroudsburg University Administrator and Assistant Dean of Students. He was employed by East Stroudsburg University for the past 24 years. He was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard and a Major for the State Area Command at Fort Indiantown Gap. He was on active duty during Desert Shield in Bremerhaven Germany from November 1990 until January 1991 and he rewrote the Counterterrorism Plan for Northern German and was the Coordinator of the resultant Counterterrorism Exercise which took place.
He was a councilman for the 4th Ward of East Stroudsburg Borough serving for the past 15 years. He was a Republican Committeeman. He was a member and past treasurer of the Stroudsburg Kiwanis Club.
He was a graduate of the University of Scranton in 1970 with a degree in History; he received his Master's Degree in Political Science in 1977 from East Stroudsburg University and a Masters of Arts and Counseling in 1982 from Marywood University. He was an honor graduate of the Command and General Officers Staff Course in 1993, this is a 3 year course.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a brother, Paul S. Paszkowski of Scranton and his two best friends, his dogs Toby and Cinder.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 20, at 9:30 a.m. in St. Matthew's Catholic Church in East Stroudsburg with Father Thomas Sokolowski as the celebrant.
Cremation will take place in the Arlington Crematory in White hall. Burial will be at a later date in Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
There will be a visitation on Friday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, .

Irene May Scheller

Irene May Scheller, 90, of RR 5 Kunkletown, died Saturday in Pleasant Valley Manor, Snydersville. She was the wife of the late Dewey D. Scheller.
Born in Palmerton, she was a daughter of the late Silas and Carrie (Leickel) Heydt.
She had been a cook and baker at the Sunset Diner in Kresgeville for 12 years, retiring in 1972. She won numerous awards for her baking skills. In 1956, she won 13 blue ribbons at the West End Fair and twice was awarded silver plates from Betty Crocker for top honors in the baked goods competition.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran in Effort and a former member of the church's auxiliary. She was also a member of the Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary in Kresgeville.
She is survived by two sons , Sterling J. Scheller of R.R. 3 Kunkletown and Norman D. Scheller of Effort; two daughters , Eva E. Knecht of Brodheadsville, and Dorothy V. Roth of Belvidere, N.J.; a granddaughter, Lynn (Roth) Cole of Belvidere, N.J., six grandsons, Kevin Scheller of Brodheadsville, Kim and Keith Scheller, both of Saylorsburg, Kurt, David, and Michael Scheller, all of Effort; and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday from the Kresge Funeral Home, Route 209, Brodheadsville, with the Rev. Michael Frost officiating. Burial will be in Gilbert Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Burton C. Hilliard, 75, of Lake Dora Park, Fla., and formerly of Stroudsburg, passed away on Wednesday at the home of his daughter in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Florence G. (Ehrgood) Hilliard, at home. The couple celebrated 53 years of marriage.
He was born in Stroudsburg, a son of the late Cyrus B. and Minnie E. (Pross) Hilliard. He was a resident of Florida for the past 8 years and prior to that a lifetime resident of Monroe County. He was of the Lutheran Faith and of the Lutheran Orphanage in Topton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II.
Prior to his retirement in 1989, he was a custodian and maintenance man at the Stroudsburg YMCA from 1978 to 1989; from 1973 to 1978 he was a heavy machine operator for the former Vepco Co. of Mt. Pocono; from 1961 to 1973 he was a carpenter for the former Primrose brothers ; and from 1948 to 1960 he worked for both Portchawanda Chicken Farm in Shawnee as a manager and also for J.M. Wyckoff Feed Mill in East Stroudsburg. He was a member of Eustis Gun Club in Eustis, Florida; the NRA; and was an avid gun collector and shooting enthusiast. He was a skilled craftsman in both wood and steel.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters , Judith Bago of Stroudsburg and Sandra F. Ace of East Stroudsburg; 4 sons , Burton W. Hilliard of East Stroudsburg, Cyrus T. Hilliard of Bartsonville, Scott D. Hilliard of Henryville and Michael K. Hilliard of East Stroudsburg; 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchilden; a brother, Robert E. Hilliard, Sr., of East Stroudsburg; and a sister, Wilburta Lee of Bradington, Fla.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, , with the Rev. Jim Gilliam officiating.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the services at Lanterman & Allen. Cremation will take place in the Arlington Crematory, White hall.

Verna E. Berger, 90, of Kunkletown, died Wednesday in the Brookmont Health Care Center, Effort.
She was the wife of the late Howard Berger.
Born in Kunkletown, she was a daughter of the late Wilson and Eva (Smale) Graver.
She was a member of Jerusalem United Church of Christ in Trachsville, where she was very active in the church's fund raising activities and the Sunday School. She also sang in the church choir.
She was a member of the P.O. of A. in Aquashicola and the Chestnut Ridge Senior Citizens in Kunkletown.
She is survived by a son, Woodrow Berger of Stroudsburg; a daughter, Mae Goddard of Rochester, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday from Jerusalem United Church of Christ in Trachsville with the Rev. Becky J. Beckwith officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Trachsville Cemetery. There will be no viewing.

Cynthia A. Schaumloffel, 41, of Pocono Pines, died Wednesday at her residence. She was the wife of Peter Schaumloffel at home.
Born in East Brady, Pa., the daughter of David and Carolyn (McCanna) Irwin, she worked her way through Nursing School at Oklahoma University, Norma, Oklahoma . She was employed as a Registered Nurse for Lehigh Valley Hospice for the past five years.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by a two-year-old son, Benjamin Schaumloffel; one brother; and six sisters .
A Memorial Service will be held at the Schaumloffel residence on Sunday, June 28, at 2 p.m.
Cremation services were provided by Bolock Funeral Home, Routes 940 and 390, Paradise Valley, Pa.

Richard H. Decker, 77 of Milford, died Thursday at his home. He was the beloved husband of Betty A. Decker, at home.
Born in Dover, N.J., he was the son of the late Clarence D., and Edna Decker. He had resided most of his life in Newton, N.J., before moving to Milford, 12 years ago.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving as a First Lieutenant during WWII.
Mr. Decker was an Electrician for General Motors, Terrytown, N.Y. Plant, for 20 years, retiring in 1982.
He was a member of the Milford American Legion and the Matamoras Rod and Gun Club.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty; 4 sons , Richard L. of Branchville, N.J., Steven R. of Stillwater Twp., N.J., Brian of Milford, and Gregory L. of Bushkill; 2 daughters , Carolyn Conforth of Beemerville, N.J. and Deborah Wood of Stillwater, N.J.; and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home, 156 Main Street (Route 206), Newton, N.J. Interment will follow at the Newton Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m.

John L. Boyer, 57, of East Stroudsburg, died Wednesday, June 17, in Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.
Born in Milleville, he was the son of Martha (Ladlee) Boyer of East Stroudsburg, and the late Raymond S. Boyer. He was a life long resident of Monroe County.
He was employed, as a cook, at the Monroe County Correctional Facility in Snydersville until his retirement in May of this year. He was a peacetime veteran of the U.S. Army.
In addition to his mother , he is survived by a sister, Josephine VanWhy of Bushkill; a brother, Raymond C. Boyer of East Stroudsburg; a niece, Sally Norris and a nephew, Raymond C. Boyer Jr., both of East Stroudsburg; and 4 grand nieces and grand nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 22 at 11 a.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, , with Rev. Raymond Poortstra officiating.
