Eleanor S. Margonine

Eleanor S. Margonine, 93, of Bushkill, died Thursday at home. She was the wife of the late George Margonine who died in 1987.
Born on March 22, 1905, in Bronx, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Sigrid (Samuelsan) Larsen and had lived in the area for the past five years, moving here from Bronx, N.Y.
She is survived by two daughters , Doris A. Margonine and Judith Eleanor Tagorda, both of Bushkill; five grandchildren; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn G. Winstanley on May 24, 1998.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, , with Rev. Stephen Sayer officiating. Cremation will follow in the H.G. Crematory, Stroudsburg.
There will be a visitation on Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lehigh Valley Hospice, 1273 North Ninth Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.

Mildred R. O'Brien

Mildred R. O'Brien, 80, Bushkill, died Friday morning at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of Edward O'Brien, at home.
Born in Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Esther (O'Dowd) D'Anjou. She was a resident of Bushkill for the past 20 years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters , Dawn Conte of East Rockaway, N.Y., and Florence French of Bethpage, N.Y.; a son, Edward Campbell of Centereach, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, June 8 at 9 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church on Route 209 in Bushkill, with Monsignor Kevin O'Neill as celebrant. Burial will be in the Sand Hill Cemetery, Shoemakers.
There will be a viewing on Sunday evening from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. from the Thomas Funeral Home, .

Lloyd E. Geer, 91, of Cresco, died on Thursday, June 4, 1998 in Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Ora B. (Brailey) Geer at home.
Born in Wauseon, Ohio, a son of the late George and Sarah (Swartedruper) Geer. He was a resident of Monroe County since 1963.
He was a high school principal in Bryan, Ohio, until World War II when he joined the Navy serving as a Lieutenant in Norfolk, Va., until 1945. After serving for several governmental agencies until 1963, he became employed at Tobyhanna Army Depot, retiring in 1973. He was a member of the Pocono Mountain Rotary Club, Canadensis United Methodist Church and served on the boards of Barrett Friendly Library and the Burnley Workshop.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons , Roger Geer of Gaithersburg, Md., and Stephen Geer of St. Paul, Minn.; a daughter, Leslie Geer of Brick, N.J.; a brother, Dr. Paul Geer of Metamora, Ohio; two sisters , Frances Riker of Bowling Green, Ohio, and Bernice Doane of Wauseon, Ohio; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Memorial funeral services will be at a later date. There will be no viewing.
Final disposition will take place through the Humanity Gifts Registry in Philadelphia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Irene G. Mutchler, 91, formerly of Stroudsburg, died Sunday in Stroud Township. She was the wife of the late Alfred J. Mutchler, Sr., who died in 1956.
Born on January 13, 1907 in Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Cora Jane (Shafer) Philman and had lived in Stroudsburg until October 1997 when she moved to Fellowship Home in Nazareth which is operated by the Bible Fellowship Church. A 1927 graduate of Stroudsburg High School, she worked at the Calvinator-Maytag Store in East Stroudsburg for thirteen years. She later took up practical nursing after the death of her husband. She was a member of the Berean Bible Fellowship Church in Stroud Township where she attended since age seven and also taught Sunday School for thirty-seven years.
She is survived by a niece, Patricia Sickler of Tobyhanna, several great, great great, and great great great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, with Rev. Carl Cassel and Rev. J. Mark McCreary officiating. Burial will follow in the Stroudsburg Cemetery.
There will be a viewing on Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

John G. Henry, 77, of Chandler, Arizona and formerly of Brodheadsville, died Sunday in the Chandler Regional Hospital.
He was the husband of Madeline (Storch) Henry, at home. They had observed their 23rd wedding anniversary on May 24.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was a son of the late Daniel and Mary (Mcdonald) Henry.
He had been an electronic engineer for New York Telephone for 30 years retiring in 1975.
He was a member of Sun Lakes Lutheran Church in Sun Lakes, AZ and a former member of Zion United Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville.
He was a past president of the Western Pocono Lions Club and a past District Governor of District 14U.
He was an Army veteran of W.W.II.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael Henry, in Vermont; a daughter, Patricia Stans of Setauket, Long Island, NY; four brothers , Daniel, Joseph and Gerald Henry, all of Long Island, NY, and Charles Henry of Effort; one sister, Delores French of Dingmans Ferry, and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday from Zion United Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville, with the Rev. William Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville. A viewing will be held on Thursday from noon to 2 p.m. in the church.

Carl A. Kresge, 75, of Mansfield, died Saturday in his home.
Born in Kunkletown, he was a son of the late Burt and Mabel (Smith) Kresge.
He had been a heavy equipment operator for the J.W. Morissey Co. in Philadelphia for 12 years, retiring in 1988. Prior to that he had worked as a heavy equipment operator for L.B. Smith in Philadelphia.
He was a W.W.II Army veteran.
He was of the Lutheran faith.
He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 542 and the Stump Jumpers Airplane Club in Middlebury Center.
He is survived by his companion, Vera (Shaffer) Hilke, with whom he resided; a son, Carl A. Kresge, Jr. of Slatington; three daughters , Donna Kern of Lehighton, Bonnie George of Palmerton, and Carol Gessner of Coplay; three brothers , Maurice, Kenneth, and Gerald Kresge, all of Palmerton; two sisters , Gladys Borger of Kunkletown, Doris Borgerof Palmerton, and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Luther Kresge.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday from the Kresge Funeral Home, Route 209, Brodheadsville, with the Rev. Robert Harting officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthews Cemetery, Kunkletown. A viewing will be held on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Irene McGlynn, 61, of Stroudsburg died Saturday, June 6, at her home. She was the wife of John McGlynn with whom she celebrated 39 years of marriage.
Born in Maspeth Queens, New York, she was the daughter of the late John and Lillian (Michaels) Sisk. She had lived in the Stroudsburg area for the past 3 years and prior to that lived in the Ridgewood, New York area. She was a member of St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church of Stroudsburgs.
In addition to her husband she is survived by two daughters and two son-in-laws: Denise and Enrique Loedel of Lake Valhalla, PA and Doreen and Joseph Perri of Winoma Lake, PA, four grandchildren Isabel, Christopher and Michael Loedel and Rebecca Perri, a niece Patricia Marinelli and two nephews: John and James Bolz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 10, at 10 a.m. from St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church, Stroudsburg with the Rev. Father Carmen Perry as celebrant. Burial will be in the Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg. Visitation will be June 8 and 9 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, 23 N. 9th St., Stroudsburg.

Jeanette H. LaBar, 82, Palmyra, formerly of Delaware Water Gap, died on Sunday at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home in Palmyra. She was the wife of the late Henry J. "Jack" LaBar, who died in 1994.
Born in Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of the late George U. and Kathrun (Derry) Hauser.
She was the Executive Director of the American Red Cross for 10 years.
She was a member of the Monroe County Historical Society and of the Elks "Does" #2378.
She is survived by a son, Peter A. LaBar, Palmyra; a daughter, Linda K. Bitterman, Lawrenceville, NJ; a sister, Sylvia D. Hauser, Stroudsburg; a brother, Donald G. Hauser, Virginia Beach, VA; and a grandchild.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 1998 at 1 p.m. in the Stroudsburg Cemetery, with the Rev. Raymond Poortstra officiating.
There will be no viewing.

Ethel V. Pennell, 74, of Brodheadsville died Monday at home. She was the wife of Vernon Pennell. They had been married 57 years.
Born in East Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Dorcas (Martin) Repsher.
She was a member of the Effort United Methodist Church in Effort.
In addition to her husband Vernon, she is survived by two sons , John Pennell of Poudre Canyon, Colorado and Ronald Pennel of RD 2, Saylorsburg; one brother, Harry Repsher of East Stroudsburg; four sisters , Betty Knorr of Saylorsbury, Lillian Naugles of Stroudsburg, Nora "June" Fish of Kunkletown and Lois "Cook" Smith of East Stroudsburg; 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 1998 at the Effort United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Edward Kimes and Rev. Robert Shrom officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Memorial Cemetery, Effort, PA.
