Luther F. Gower

May 22, 1998

Luther F. Gower, 67 of Albrightsville, died Friday at the Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown.

Born in Albrightsville, he was the son of the late Ernest and Mollie (Dotter) Gower.

He had worked at the former Pocono Crest as a carpenter in Pocono Pines.

He was a member of St. Paul's Church in Albrightsville. He was a life member of the Albrightsville Volunteer Fire Department in Albrightsville,. He was also a member of the Penn Kidder Senior Citizens in Albrightsville and the American Association of Retired Persons.

He is survived by 1 uncle, Harold Gower of Lehighton; 2 aunts, Ella Stout and Clara Brotzman, both of Kunkletown and several cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Inc., with the Rev. Eberle officiating.

Interment will take place Monday at St. Paul's Cemetery in Albrightsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Albrightsville Volunteer Fire Company, Albrightsville, PA 18210.

Letitia "Letty" Huf

May 26, 1998

Letitia "Letty" (Remy) Huf, of Upper Darby and Pocono Pines, died Tuesday at her home. She was the beloved wife, of Frank J. Huf, at home.

Born November 15, 1937, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Claire (Quinn) Remy.

She had been a homemaker.

She was a member of the Lake Naomi Club for 26 years.

In addition to her husband, Frank, she is survived by 2 sons , James, husband of Peggy, of Havertown and Peter, husband of Christine, of Upper Darby; 1 daughter, Suzanne Huf of Upper Darby; 4 grandchildren, Colin Huf of Havertown and Matthew, Michael, and Myles Huf, all of Upper Darby.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial, Sat., 11 a.m., at St. Laurence Church, 8245 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby. Interment will take place in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, Pa.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby.

Genevieve E. Chamberlin

May 21, 1998

Genevieve E. Chamberlin, 66, died on Thursday, May 21, 1998, at St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem. She was the wife of the late James C. Chamberlin.

Born in East Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of James and Berantta (Fish) Barr. She was a lifetime resident of Monroe County.

She was employed by Olympic Reconditioning in East Stroudsburg for 23 years until 1988.

She is survived by her mother , Berantta Barr of East Stroudsburg; a son, James C. Chamberlin of East Stroudsburg; a brother, Thomas Barr, of East Stroudsburg; several nieces and nephews; one great-niece; and one great-nephew.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date.

Arrangement were handled by the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg.

Paul Lange

May 26, 1998

Paul Lange, age 71, of Saylorsburg, died Tuesday at home.

Born June 23, 1926 in Vincennes, Indiana, he had lived in Dover, N.J. before moving to Saylorsburg five years ago.

He was the son of the late Charles and Carrie Lange.

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of W.W. II.

He worked for over 45 years as a union carpenter for the Union Carpenter's Local 620 out of Madison, N.J., retiring in 1989.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth J. (Cocking) :Lange; 4 sons , Paul, Jr., of Boulder, Colo., Kurt, Otto and David, all of Saylorsburg; 1 daughter, Wanda Dickerson of Rockaway, N.J.; 1 sister, Agnes Lange of Vincennes, Ind.; and 8 grandchildren.

A calling hour will be Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. at the Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, N.J. Interment will take place in Mountainview Cemetery, Cokesbury, N.J.

Jacob H. Keuler

May 25, 1998

Jacob H. Keuler, 71, of Buck Hill Falls, died Monday at his home. He was the husband of the late Astrid (Flyborg) Keuler who died in 1996.

Born on April 25, 1927, in Richmond Hills, N.Y., he was the son of the late Joseph and Ada (Frederick) Keuler. A veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, he also served in the Merchant Marines.

Married with two children and working full time, he spent eight years at night pursuing a mechanical engineering degree at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. He later obtained his real estate broker's licenses in both New York and Pennsylvania . He purchased without any initial or inherited capital, two Manhattan apartment buildings, one an 11 family Gramercy Park structure and the other a 21 family building with stores in the West Village. He worked 20 years in Manhattan high rise buildings, 10 years of which he was vice president and district manager for William A. White & sons , a real estate brokerage company.

He bought and developed Spruce Hill Farms on lower Seese Hill Road in the middle 1960s. He also was founder and President of J.H. Keuler, Inc. to construct Spruce Hill Farms and the first few houses at The Hamlet of which he bought and developed in 1969-1970. He retired at the age of 43.

In 1971, he founded and was President of the J. Clark Construction C., Inc. and the Jacob Clark Construction Co., Inc. in 1977, both the J. and Jacob of each company representing myself. These construction companies built most of the houses in the Hamlet including the Health Spa where he personally installed the plumbing, electrical, heating and ventilation systems.

He bought, remodeled and operated the Paradise Car Wash. And in 1981, owned and operated the Buck Hill Inn for 10 years.

His years of management included the Allied Chemical Tower, New York City; Carnegie Hall; the Colliseum Exposition Hall; Columbia Medical School; Du Pont Chemical Manufacturing Plant; General Motors; and many other significant New York City office buildings.

He is survived by two sons , Dr. Marc Keuler, of Canadensis, and Daniel W. Keuler, of Buck Hill Falls; two grandsons, Jordan and Tyler of Buck Hill Falls; three brothers , Joseph Keuler, of Swiftwater, Robert Keuler, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Harold Keuler of Saylorsburg; and a sister, Joan Phubin, of East Islip, N.Y.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 4 p.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg.

Cremation will follow the service in the H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.

There will be a visitation on Thursday from 3 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Patricia K. Sawyer

May 25, 1998

Patricia K. Sawyer, 66, of Warren, Minn., and Pocono Manor died Monday in Alltru Hospital, Grand Forks, N.D. She was the loving wife of Howard Sawyer, at home.

Born on March 31, 1932 in Union, NJ, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Schuck) Kerner. She had worked for Eastern Airlines for 15 years helping in the opening of the Milwaukee, Wis., Eastern Airlines base and last working from Washington D.C.

After graduating from high school she continued her education at Tusculum in Tennessee graduating from New York University. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church in Tannersville, PA.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Richard Timothy Sawyer, husband of Rebecca, of Pocono Manor; and a grandson, Timothy James Sawyer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church, Tannersville, with Rev. Henry E. Zapotocki as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Plainfield, N.J.

There will be a viewing on Thursday from 7-8:30 p.m. at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg.

Jennifer L. Marvin

May 23, 1998

Jennifer L. Marvin, 22, of East Stroudsburg, died Saturday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Smithfield Township.

Born on August 16, 1975, in East Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of Donald L. and Marcia (Dunn) Marvin of East Stroudsburg and had lived in the area all of her life.

She had worked as a hostess at Shawnee Inn, Shawnee-on-Delaware. A graduate of East Stroudsburg High School, she attended East Stroudsburg University and Northampton Community College.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Curtis and Gladys Dunn of Stroudsburg and a brother, Donald W. Marvin of East Stroudsburg.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, with the Rev. Phyllis M. Hammel officiating. Cremation will follow in the H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.

There will be a viewing on Tuesday from 7-8:30 p.m.at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 71 North Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.

May 25, 1998

Florence J. Cort, 77, of East Stroudsburg, died on Monday, May 25, 1998, at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late John Cort.

Born in Manhattan, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Paul and Stella (Bigda) Cudnik. She was a resident of East Stroudsburg for the past nine years, prior to that she resided in Throgs Neck, Bronx, N.Y.

She was employed by the Harry M. Stevens Concessions at Yankee and Shea Stadiums in New York.

She was a member of The Tabernacle of Joy Church in East Stroudsburg and the Senior Citizens Club in Barrett Township.

She was a devoted mother , woman of faith, and loved The Lord Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

She is survived by a daughter Michele Vecchio of East Stroudsburg; a son, Paul S. Cort of Shrub Oak, N.Y.; a sister, Frances Coogan of Toms River, N.J. and five grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 27, at 8 p.m. in Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington St., East Stroudsburg, with Pastor Marilyn Smith and Rev. Enrico Pandolfo officiating.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, May 27, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m. in the funeral home.

Interment will take place on Thursday at 12 noon, in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, N.Y.
