Alice Eveyln Smith of Swiftwater died Tuesday morning at home. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clarence "Jim" Smith, who died August 18, 1992.
Born in Sterling Township, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Madalyn (Musgrave) McLean. She was educated in Newfoundland School and resided in Swiftwater until her death.
Alice and her husband, Jim, owned and operated Johnson's Diner, Scotrun, for many years and the Homestead Inn in Cresco until her husband's retirement in 1980. She was then employed at the former Pocono Sheraton Inn in Stroudsburg and Mt. Airy Lodge in Swiftwater until her retirement.
Surviving are three daughters , Veronica Connors of Cresco, Jamie Smith of Scranton and Lisa Smith of Pawleys Island, S.C.; two sisters , Katherine Dann of Calsbad, Calif., and Arlene Lindsey of Moscow, Pa.; and two grandchildren, Eli Schuler and Megan Connors of Cresco. She was preceded in death by two brothers , Harold and Donald McLean.
A private service for the immediate family only will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg, followed by a private burial in Moscow Cemetery, Moscow, Pa.
There will be no calling hours.

Mary Bittenbender, 81, of Mt. Bethel, died Tuesday in Easton Hospital. She was the wife of the late H. Ray Bittenbender who died in 1997.
Born November 28, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Ezra and Beulah (Kemmerer) Koehler and step-daughter of the late Ada Pickel Creveling Koehler.
She was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Stone Church.
She was a sewing machine operator for various blouse mills in the Slate Belt area before retiring. She was a member of the I.L.G.W.U.
She is survived by one son, Ron of Stroudsburg; one brother, Earl Koehler of Bethlehem Twp.; and one sister, Alberta Rodenbough of Palmer Twp. She was predeceased by one brother, Roy Koehler.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Reed/Gaffney Funeral Home Inc., 4 Lillian Lane, Johnsonville. Interment will be in the Farmersville Cemetery in Bethlehem Twp.
Family and friends may call on Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Willis "Cotton" H. Robinson, 70, of Stroudsburg formerly of Dade City, Fla., died Monday in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.
He was the widower of Margaret Robinson.
Born in Fort Towson, Okla., he was the son of the late Jack and Ida (Coker) Robinson. He was residing in Stroudsburg for the past few months with his daughter, Cheryl Parks. He lived in the Dade City, Fla., area for 25 years and prior to that he lived in the New Jersey and Michigan areas.
He was employed as a supervisor with the Gifford Hill Co. of Florida and New Jersey for many years retiring in 1990. He was of the Methodist faith and was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by two daughters , Cheryl Parks of Stroudsburg and Linda Glaubman of Sparta, N.J; one son, David Robinson of Basking Ridge, N.J.; and 8 grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, , with the Rev. Thomas Richards officiating. Cremation will take place at the H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.

Marjorie McPherson Barnes

Marjorie McPherson Barnes, 87, formerly of Stroudsburg, died Wednesday in Slate Belt Nursing Home, Bangor. She was the wife of the late Joseph W. Barnes, Jr., who died in 1996.
Born on July 26, 1910, in Easton, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Leah (Cowling) McPherson and had lived in the Stroudsburg area for over sixty years. She had worked as an executive secretary for William Laubach & sons Department Store in Easton.
A 1927 graduate of Easton High School, she was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stroudsburg, where she was a former Sunday School Teacher and choir member. She was also a member of the Music Study Club of the Stroudsburgs.
She is survived by a niece, Doris (Miller) Basta of Easton and a nephew, Donald Miller of West Allis, Wis. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Ann Barnes.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg, with Rev. Gail H. Kees officiating. Burial will follow in the Stroudsburg Cemetery. There will be a viewing on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Carl R. Loeb, 77, of Canadensis, died Wednesday in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.
Born on December 10, 1920, in Reading, he was the son of the late Raymond and Nellie (Seese) Loeb and had lived in the area all of his life. He had been a partner of the Pocono Mineral and Gem in Canadensis.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by a sister, Merle Marvin of Canadensis and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg, with Rev. Russell E. Walters officiating. Burial will follow in the Seese Hill Cemetery, Canadensis.

Dorothy Ecker

Dorothy Ecker, 78, of Barron, Wisconsin, died Saturday, February 21, at Barron Memorial Hospital.
She was born October 14, 1919 in Cozad, Nebraska, to Karl and Goldie Schultz.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. Clarence Ecker of Barron, Wis. and sons , Jim of Stroudsburg and Paul of Roseville, Minn.; and two granddaughters, Pamela and Kristina of central Minnesota. She is also survived by five brothers and three sisters , living in California and Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister and one brother.
In 1942, she moved to Los Angeles Calif., where she worked at National Biscuit Company and other places. While in Los Angeles, she married Clarence Ecker on June 9, 1946. She also attended night classes at the Bible Institute of Los Angeles.
Her husband served as Pastor of a small Bible Church in Los Angeles for several years before they moved to Wisconsin.
In 1959, the Eckers moved to Barron, Wis., where they served as full time missionaries with the American Missionary Fellowship for 26 years in northwest Wisconsin. Since their retirement in 1985, until her death, she and her husband together ministered in several local group homes for the mentally disabled and also at a small church in Barron.
Her main hobby was to collect poems and to share them with others.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Feb. 26, at the First Baptist Church in Barron, Wis., with Rev. Dennis Pond officiating.

Florence E. Casperson, 83, of Stroudsburg, died Thursday, March 5, in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. She was the widow of Roy Casperson.
Born in Cicero, Illinois, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Alice Alstrom. She was a resident of Stroudsburg for the past 2½ years and prior to that she lived in the West Orange, N.J., area. She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by two daughters , Cheryl Lynn O'Donnell of Stroudsburg with whom she was residing and Carol J. Sanchez of Elk Grove, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Cremation will take place at the H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.

Norman B. Woodring, Jr., 38 of Effort, died Wednesday at the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of Joseph A. and Dolores (Neal) Tosca of Effort.
He was a self-employed Building Contractor in the Poconos. Recently, he had worked for Pocono Gardens Lodge in Mt. Pocono.
He had attended Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by 2 sisters , Elizabeth Reese of Effort and Stephanie Tosca of Effort; 2 brothers , William Woodring of Philadelphia and Joseph Tosca of Williamsport; and a maternal grandmother, Rose Bright of Philadelphia.
Funeral Services will begin 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Route 209, Gilbert, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m., at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert with the Rev. Father William McCawley celebrant. Interment will be private. Viewing will be held Saturday, 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Carmela (Millie) Lombardo, 75, of Tobyhanna, died Tuesday at home. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carlo Lombardo.
Born in New York, the daughter of Salvatore and Maria D'Aversa, she was employed as a bookkeeper in Brooklyn, N.Y., and retired to Pocono Farms ten years ago.
She was a member of Coolbaugh Township Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by a son, Charles Lombardo of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and a daughter, Cathy Ciccone of Pocono Farms with whom she resided. In addition, she is survived by three grandchildren, Deana and Joseph Ciccone of Tobyhanna and Christina Lombardo of Brooklyn, N.Y.
Graveside service and interment will take place at 11:45 a.m. on Friday at the Pine Lawn Cemetery, Farmingdale, N.Y.
Friends may call on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, Corner of . Msgr. Kasenbach will conduct a funeral service at 8:15 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
