HELENA FREI MILZ
Helena Frei Milz, 88, formerly of Revere, Pa., died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at the Harmon House, Mt. Pleasant. She was born June 4, 1911, in Philadelphia, a daughter of the late Martin and Magdalena Widmer Frei. She was a member of the United Mennonite Church, Quakertown, Pa., and a member of the Kellers Church Grange, the Delaware Valley Garden Club, and was a Sunday school teacher at the United Mennonite Church. Helena was a homemaker and, along with her husband, operated the Hillside Gardens, Nursery and Greenhouse at Revere. She is survived by her loving daughter, with whom she made her home since June of 1995, Constance Kletzing and her husband, Dennis, of Everson; two brothers , Oscar and Alfred Frei of Quakertown; four sisters -in-law; and three grandchildren, Rebecca, Rachel and husband, Dan, and Nathan. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Frank Milz, in April of 1994; three brothers , John, William and Herman Frei; and a sister, Eleanor Frei. Friends will be received Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the JEFFREY A. NAUGLE FUNERAL HOME, 20 N. Ambler St., Quakertown. Additional visitation at the United Mennonite Church of Quakertown Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time services will be held with the Rev. Michael Sutberry officiating. Lawrence H. Remaley, 92, of New Castle, formerly of Middle Lancaster Township/Harmony, died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at his residence. Born Oct. 8, 1907, in Export, a son of the late William and the late Jeanette (Young) Remaley. Mr. Remaley was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Harmony. He was the owner and operator of Remaley's General Store in Lancaster Township from 1949-1967. He was also the owner of a saw sharpening business. Mr. Remaley enjoyed gardening, woodworking, church activities, and singing in the choir. He is survived by sons , Robert Remaley of Saxonburg and Richard Remaley of New Castle; a sister, Edith Duff of Export; also survived by four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth (Finney) Remaley, who died Nov. 28, 1997; and three brothers . Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Josephine Figiel Uchrinscko, 87, of Water Street, West Newton, died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. She was born April 28, 1912, in Wyano, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Figiel. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in West Newton (South Huntingdon Township) and the West Newton Senior Center. She had been employed at the former Ron's Restaurant on Main Street in West Newton. Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Uchrinscko; a daughter, Jacqueline Ritzer; two brothers , Bernard and Mike Figiel; and a sister, Waja Boltich. She is survived by a son, Alan Wayne Uchrinscko of Jeannette; a son-in-law, Donald Ritzer of Charleroi; three grandsons and a granddaughter, Geary Shipley and his wife, Kymberly, of Charleroi, Glenn Shipley and his wife, Stacey, of Charleroi, Julie Puckey and her husband, Steven, of West Newton and Alan Uchrinscko of New York City, N.Y.; four great-grandchildren; two sisters , Emily Peternal of Collinsburg and Caroline Boord and her husband, Warren, of Belle Vernon; two brothers , Florian Figiel and his wife, Lilian, of Collinsburg and Walter Figiel and his wife, Darlene, of Berea, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. DOROTHY A. YARTIN
Dorothy A. Yartin, loving mother , grandmother and sister, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2000. She was born Aug. 18, 1928, in Monessen. She was a daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Rendos. She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Andy Yartin. Dorothy was retired from Hills Department Store of Rostraver Township. Dorothy was a resident of Monessen for most of her life. She was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church. Dorothy's legacy to life will be her good nature, her love of family and friends and her gift to give rather than receive. Hobbies she enjoyed were baking and pet sitting for her children. Dorothy could often be seen about the valley accompanied by her sister and best friend, Anna Mae Mondi. We ask that you pray for her soul. She will be sadly missed and never forgotten. Survivors include daughters , Linda A. McCracken of Scenery Hill, Pa., and Andrea L. Yartin of Euclid, Ohio; son and daughter-in-law, Andrew M. and Cathy A. Yartin of Monessen; two sisters , Anna Mae Mondi and Pat Henry of Monessen. Dorothy also cherished the following surviving grandchildren: Charlynne Dicks and her husband, Bil, Michael and Matthew Yartin, and Kenyon McCracken. In addition to her husband, a brother, the late Andrew J. Rendos of Monessen, also preceded her in death. ANNE MONSKIE BENTZ
Anne Monskie Bentz, 98, of Greensburg, died Sunday, March 19, 2000, in the Greensburg Nursing and Convalescent Center. She was born June 8, 1901, in Grindstone, Pa., a daughter of the late Julius Monskie and Bessie Wable Monskie. She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church and had been the church secretary and treasurer of the Bible school for 30 years, and had been a volunteer for the American Lung Association and the Meals-on-Wheels in Greensburg. She was preceded in death, besides her parents, by her husband, Jack Bentz; and her family members, Robert and Edward Monskie, and Lorraine Damato and Phyllis Monskie. Surviving are Davida Monskie Leshock and Virginia Monskie Woodward. Friends and family will be received at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 N. Main St., Greensburg, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday. Services will be held in the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Steven L. Welker officiating. Interment will follow in St. Clair Cemetery.

Jacqueline Lynn McNally Garsteck, 47, of Ohler Road, Bullskin Township, Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, due to injuries sustained in a multi-car accident in Bullskin Township. Jackie's family will receive friends in the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 W. Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Emil S. Payer as celebrant. Elizabeth C. "Betty" Horvath, 85, of Greensburg, formerly of Hahntown, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Oct. 1, 1914, in Jeannette, a daughter of the late George E. and Wilhelmina Yurt Hizer. She was retired from Femco-Gulton Industries, Irwin. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew "Rudy" Horvath; and two sisters , Henrietta Kunesh and Genevieve Roscosky. She is survived by a son, Adrian F. and his wife, Luann Horvath, of Southwest Greensburg; three grandchildren, Andrew, Emily and Aaron Horvath; a brother, Robert Hizer of Columbia, Mo.; three sisters , Georga Roscosky of Jeannette, Minnie Loughner of Mammont, and Rosemary Kardos of West Newton; and several nieces and nephews. CHARLES W. ROADMAN
Charles W. Roadman, 79, of Port Charlotte, Fla., formerly of Jones Mills, Pa., who had resided for six months of the year in Donegal, died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at 8:45 a.m. Born July 5, 1920. He was preceded in death by his mother , Grace B. Monticue and his stepfather, Theodore R. Monticue; and his Father , James Roadman. Also a brother, Robert L. Monticue. Survived by his wife, Ruth Clark Roadman; two sisters , Betty Monticue-Yeckel and Shirley Monticue-Chearney; six children, Carol Mae Benson, Charlene Thomas, Cindy Roadman, Charlotte Roadman-Johnson, Thomas Roadman and Charles "Buzz" Roadman; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 12 nieces and nephews. He was in the 1st Division of the Big Red One, Blue Spaders, the 27th Division, World War II, and the 26th Infantry in Africa. He was acting 1st sergeant across the Rhine. He earned the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart with seven Bronze Stars. Also he was a Tech Sergeant. DANIEL E. SERMAN
Daniel E. Serman, 51, of Irwin, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Sept. 22, 1948, in Greensburg, a son of the late Kenneth and Thelma Kozain Serman. He was a social studies teacher for the Penn-Trafford Middle School, and a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Irwin. He was a graduate of Penn State University and had received a master's degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania . He is survived by his wife, Connie L. Sowash Serman; two daughters , Carrie Serman and Allison Serman, both at home; two brothers , Richard Serman of Claridge and Carl Serman of Cranberry; and a sister, Carol Reisz of Claridge. Also nieces and nephews. KENNETH W. ANDRES
Kenneth W. Andres, 58, of Zelienople, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at 10:45 p.m. in St. John's Lutheran Care, Mars. He was born Dec. 12, 1941, in East McKeesport, a son of Andrew G. Andres and Lula Mae (Coleman). He was senior vice president of commercial lending for First Commonwealth Bank of Indiana, Pa., for 35 years. He attended the Harvest Assembly of God Church. He served in the U.S. Navy, was a Promise Keeper, treasurer for Peniel Ministries, and a board member of the Ligonier Valley Full Gospel Church. Also, he had received an associate degree from Allegheny County Community College and was a graduate of the Wisconsin School of Banking. Survived by his wife, the Rev. Cherrie Bauman Andres, whom he married Aug. 20, 1978; his mother , Lula Mae Coleman Petrovich; two daughters , Kim O'Neil of San Francisco, Calif., and Brenda Andres of Plantation, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Shannon Rae Gargano of Mercer; two brothers , Elmer Andres of Buena Vista and Gary Andres of Elizabeth; three sisters , Mrs. Janie Gonzales of North Versailles, Mrs. Pam Lukowski of Belle Vernon, and Mrs. Marleen Merkt of White Oak; three grandchildren, Caitlin O'Neil, Megan O'Neil, and Lesley Rae Gargano; and a number of nieces and nephews.
