Roy C. Reeser

March 20, 1998

Roy C. Reeser, 67 of Tobyhanna, died on Friday at his home.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Roy E. and Mabel Reeser.

He was a graduate of Reading High School, a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 346 of East Stroudsburg. He was the owner of the Time Saver Market in Pocono Summit from 1978 to 1996.

Mr. Reeser was dedicated to his family and enjoyed bowling, pool and cards. He also loved pets, especially his dog, Rascal.

He is survived by his ex-wife and friend, Jean Reeser-Breen; five children, Chuck Reeser of Tobyhanna, Bill Reeser of Long Pond, Jessie Reeser of Stroudsburg, Geri Reeser of Marshalls Creek and Joanne Reeser of Stroudsburg; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of routes 940 and 390, Paradise Valley. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Joan Picoca of Tobyhanna United Methodist Church officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Alexis Melnikoff

March 21, 1998

Alexis Melnikoff, 48 of Canadensis, died on Saturday at home.

Born in East Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of Walter and Martha Bell (Haines) Melnikoff, with whom she resided.

A graduate of Pocono Mountain High School, she attended NY Institute of Photography. She continued her photography in the Pocono area, specializing in animals and children, and also taking part in photography exhibits throughout the world. She loved her garden and worked on it for many years. It was her request to be cremated and have her remains buried in her garden.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Sonia and Wayne White of Alexandria, Va. and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Cremation services were provided by Bolock Funeral Home, Route 940 and 390, Paradise Valley.

Memorial donations may be made to the SPCA of PA, Wild Animal Farm Road, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.

Donald W. Detrick

March 19, 1998

Donald W. Detrick, 73, of Sciota, died Thursday at the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg.

He was the husband of Mary (Moyer) Detrick. They had been married 45 years.

Born in Snydersville, he was the son of the late Wilton and Alma (Kresge) Detrick.

He had been a pipe fitter working for the Plumbers and SteamFitters Union Local 655 from 1949 to 1955 and then Local 524 of Scranton from 1969 until 1978. He and his wife owned and operated the Cross Roads Inn in Sciota from 1954 until 1969.

He was a World War II Navy Veteran having served in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1106 in Stroudsburg for over 50 years. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 927 in Gilbert and the Thomas P. Lambert VFW Post 2540 in East Stroudsburg.

In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by two daughters , Kay wife of Stephen Owen of Templeton, Pa., and Debra wife of Richard Esposito of Stroudsburg; a sister, Betty wife of John Morgan of Stroudsburg; a grandson, Brendon J. Esposito of Stroudsburg; and a nephew, Lester Moyer who had resided with Donald and Mary for many years.

A Memorial Service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Inc., Route 209, Gilbert, with the Rev. William Sibley officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association, 21021 Venture Blvd., Suite 321, Woodland Hills, Calif. 91364 or the VNA Hospice, RR #5, Box 5169, Suite 101, East Stroudsburg, 18301.

John Alampi

March 20, 1998

John Alampi, 81, of Hamilton Twp., died on Friday in Pleasant Valley Manor, Hamilton Twp.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., a son of the late Paul and Concetta (Galetta) Alampi. He was a resident of Monroe County since 1972. His prior residence was in Brooklyn, N.Y.

He was employed as a water front worker with the Long Shoremen in New York for 15 years. He was a member of the Long Shoremen's Union in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church in Tannersville.

He is survived by a brother, Joseph Alampi of Homasassa, Fla., and a niece, Theresa Tringali of RD #3, Stroudsburg, and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church, Route 611 N., Tannersville, with Father Henry E. Zapotocki as celebrant.

There will be a viewing on Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington St., East Stroudsburg.

Committal will take place in St. John's Cemetery, Brooklyn, N.Y.

Steven Paul Schweisguth

March 19, 1998

Steven P. Schweisguth, age 13, of Greene Twp., Pike Co., died Thursday at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, Pa. His death was attributed to aspiration of a foreign body.

Born in Goshen, N.Y., son of Barry B. and Patty Check Schweisguth, he was a student in the Life Skills Program of the Wallenpaupeck Area School District.

He attended Sunday School at the Hemlock Grove United Methodist Church, Greentown; was involved in the Special Olympics for the past five (5) years,; helped his Dad in the Firewood business; was a NASCAR fan; played drums and loved music.

Survived by his parents Barry B. and Patty Check Schweisguth; a sister, Jennifer Schweisguth, at home; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Check, South Amboy, N.J.; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services, Tuesday morning, at the Maliszewski Funeral Home, 121 Main Street, Sayreville, N.J. Burial in Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy, N.J.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Arthur J. Frey Funeral Home, State Route 191, LaAnna, Pa., and Monday, 7 to 9 p.m., at the Maliszewski Funeral Home in Sayreville, N.J.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Schweisguth Family Memorial Fund, c/o LA Bank, P. O. Box P, Newfoundland, PA 18445.

Floyd H. Frable

March 19, 1998

Floyd H. Frable, 86, of Brodheadsville, died Thursday in the Slate Belt Nursing and Rehab Center, Bangor.

He was the husband of Florence (Kresge) Frable, at home. They had observed their 48th wedding anniversary in December.

Born in Brodheadsville, he was a son of the late Franklin and Lula Mae (Snyder) Frable.

He had been a truck driver for Everett's Feed Mill in Gilbert for 57 years, retiring in 1974. He had also been a farmer for 57 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons , Floyd Jr. and Robert Frable, both of Brodheadsville; a stepdaughter, Virgie Frailey of Sciota; four sisters , Edith Blazer of Delta, Ohio, Dorothy Lindenmoyer of Jacksonville, Fla., Florence Kresge of Saylorsburg, and Evelyn Snyder of Nazareth; two grandchildren, three step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday from the Kresge Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael Eckroth officiating. Burial will be in Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville. A viewing will be held on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lehigh Valley Hospice, 1273 N. Ninth St., Stroudsburg, 18360.

March 18, 1998

Kristi R. Campbell, 19, formerly of East Stroudsburg, died Wednesday at her home in Orwigsburg.

Born in Florida, she was a daughter of Kenneth R. Campbell of East Stroudsburg and the late Elsie Marie (Brush) Campbell, who died December 7, 1997. She had lived most of her life in the East Stroudsburg area and had attended school in the East Stroudsburg area school district.

Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m., Saturday, from the William H. Clark Funeral Home, with the Rev. Thomas E. Richards, Jr., pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tannersville, officiating. Cremation will take place at the H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg. There will be no calling hours.

Angela DeVivo Cammarata

March 15, 1998

Angela DeVivo Cammarata, 94, formerly of Stroudsburg, died on March 15 in Boca Raton, Florida.

Born in Scranton, she and her late husband, John, owned and operated Cammarata's Sundae and Candy Store on West Main Street, Stroudsburg, for several years before moving to Florida in 1958.

She was a member of St. Bartholomew's Roman Catholic Church in Miramir, Fla.

She is survived by two sisters , Mrs. Mimi Greeley, of New York City, and Mrs. Florence Zateeny, of Stroudsburg; several nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held by Fred Hunter's Funeral Home in Hollywood, Fla.

There will be a Memorial Mass held at a later date in Stroudsburg at the convenience of the family.

Dorothy E. Mooney

March 12, 1998

Dorothy E. Mooney, Wilkes-Barre, died Thursday, March 12, at her home.

Born July 15, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Sophia Grivner.

She was a member of St. Mary's Church of the Immaculate Conception, Wilkes-Barre.

Surviving are her husband, Leo J. Mooney; son, Leo E. Mooney, of Wilkes-Barre; sisters Lillian Lovecchio, of East Stroudsburg, Marie Keegan, of Ashley, Patricia Judge, of Mountaintop; brother Raymond, of Nanticoke; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on March 14 in Wilkes-Barre.
