Robert Elig, 89, Wise Terrace, Ebensburg, died March 30, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.
Born December 23, 1908, in Loretto, he was a son of the late Timothy and Anna (Sherry) Elig. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Bertha Seitz, a brother, and several sisters .
He is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Valenti of Marshalls Creek; grandchildren, Michael, Robert and wife Lynn, Loretta and her fiancé Allen, John, Sabrina, Melanie, Sarah and Jesse; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Stephen, Nicholas, Christopher, Priscilla and Christina; brother of Bernadine Nayanak of Bradley Junction and Rita McKenna of Elizabeth, N.J.; and close friend, Dorothy Rupe of Ebensburg.
Retired, he had been employed by the former Watson & Collins, Ltd., Interior Design Studios of New York City, having worked on interior design projects at the White House, the Rockefeller home, and Composer Harold Rohme's residence.
He was a veteran of WWII.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, at the Askew-Houser Funeral Home, Inc., Ebensburg, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, with the Rev. Msgr. Arnold L. Gaus officiating. Entombment at Holy Name Mausoleum.

Paul N. Bongiovi, 68, of Stroudsburg, died on Saturday at the Pocono Medical Center. He was the husband of Mary Lou (Rose) Bongiovi. They had been married 16 years.
Born in New York City, N.Y., he was the son of the late Peter and Mary (Campo) Bongiovi.
He was employed by the International Brotherhood of Ironworkers Union Local 361 in New York as a rigger for 35 years, retiring in 1986.
He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons , Peter Bongiovi of Port Jefferson , N.Y., Paul Bongiovi of Iscandia, N.Y., Joseph Bongiovi of N.Y. and Jerome Bongiovi of Flushing, N.Y.; two daughters , Mary, wife of Paul Doloroso and Nancy, wife of Paul Mikolich, all of Flushing, N.Y.; a brother, Peter Bongiovi of Port Washington , N.Y.; two sisters , Ann Cumella of Bayside, N.Y. and Martha Bongiovi of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Viewing will be Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Route 209, Gilbert. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father William McCawley as celebrant.

Janet M. Crawn, 60 of Bangor (formerly of Stroudsburg), died Friday, March 27, in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.
She was the widow of Kenneth C. Crawn, who died in 1995.
Born in Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of the late William and Elsie (LaBar) Counterman. She was a resident of Bangor for the past 15 years and prior to that was a life long resident of the Stroudsburg area. She was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by three daughters : Dina H. Crawn and Virgina Crawn, both of Bangor, and Susann Williams of Stroudsburg; a son, Elvin Crawn, of Bangor; two brothers , Carl. L. Counterman of Sciota and Martin O. Counterman of Upper Mt. Bethel; two sisters , Viola McCamon of E. Bangor and Sally Tebo of Boonton, N.J; 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Clarence Counterman of Stroudsburg.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 31 at 7:00 p.m. at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home., 23 N. 9th St. Stroudsburg with the Rev. Thomas McGill officiating. Cremation will take place following the services.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Francis W. Miller, 80, of Bartonsville, died on Saturday, March 28, at the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of the late Margaret Mary (Kealy) Miller.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y.; a son of the late Frederick and Ellen (Flynn) Miller. He had been a resident of Monroe County for the past 22 years and prior to that of Long Island, N.Y. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, having served during World War II. He was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in East Stroudsburg.
Prior to his retirement in 1974, he was employed by the United States Department of Labor in the Safety Department for 30 years; prior to that he served in the Merchant Marines. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians of Monroe County.
He is survived by three daughters , Rene Miller of Bartonsville; Dorothy Metz of West Paterson, N.J.; Margaret Miller of Traverse City, Mich.; 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Edward Miller.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 31, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Matthew's Catholic Church, East Stroudsburg with Father Thomas Sokolowski as the celebrant.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Monday from 2-4:00 p.m. and 7-8:30 p.m. in the Lanterman and Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg. Cremation will take place in the Arlington Crematory, White hall.

Ann Swensson, age 67, of Lake Placid, Fla., died Wednesday at Florida Hospital , Lake Placid. Born in Swoyerville, she had been a resident of Lake Placid for the past eight years moving from Stroudsburg. She was a hotel manager and a member of St. James Catholic Church in Lake Placid, Fla.
She is survived by one son, Steven of Shippensburg and one daughter, Susan Nabozny of Mulkilteo, Wash.; mother , Ann Malenky of San Bernardino, Calif.; two brothers , John Malenky of Aurora, Ore. and Michael Malenky; and one sister, Marie Hosey of San Bernardino, Calif.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, March 27, at St. James Catholic Church in Lake Placid, Fla, with Father Vincente Llaria officiating.
Burial was held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.

Juanita M. Pasko, 74, of RD #1, Cresco, died early Friday morning in Pleasant Valley Manor, Hamilton Township.
Born on August 4, 1923 in Buckhannon, W.V., she was a daughter of the late Franklin Fogel and the late Blanche (Skidmore) Fogel Show. She had lived in Monroe County for the past 42 years having previously lived in Maryland and West Virginia.
She is survived by two sons , Edward Pasko, Jr., of Clarksburg, W.V., and Victor Pasko, of Fredericksburg, Pa.; two daughters , Loretta McKnight, of Atlanta, Ga., and Arlene Telesky of Cresco; nine grandchildren and two great grandsons.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday from the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg, with the Rev. David Crosby, pastor of the Paradise Valley Assembly of God, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery, Swiftwater.
There will be a viewing on Monday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and on Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home.

Haffling, 73, of Wind Gap, who died Saturday, March 21, in Plainfield Township, is survived by three daughters , Trudie Pepe of Plainfield Township, Gail Rogers of Pen Argyl, and Audrey Steirt of Wind Gap; one sister, Miriam Campanaro of Allentown; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Douglas "Lucky" Halfpenny, 72, of 37 Sagen Drive, Mount Bethel, died Wednesday evening at his residence.
He was the husband of Gladys E. (Karcher) Halfpenny. The couple observed their 41st Wedding Anniversary last November 17.
Born Feb. 11, 1926, in Scranton, he was a son of the late James and Catherine (Franklin) Halfpenny.
Mr. Halfpenny was employed by Laborer's Union Local #569, Washington , N.J., for 20 years until retiring in 1988. He was also employed as a groundskeeper at Glenwood Hotel, Delaware Water Gap, for 30 years, retiring in 1994.
He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Stone Church. He was a former member of the Slate Belt Quoit League.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Jamie L. Kneebone of Mount Bethel; one grandson, Justin M. Kneebone of Mount Bethel; one brother, James G. Halfpenny of Brawley, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
One sister and three brothers died earlier.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the Reformed Church Cemetery, Stone Church. There will be no calling hours.

Amelia F. Haffling, 73 of Wind Gap, died on Saturday at the home of her daughter, Trudie Pepe, with whom she was residing.
She was a former sewing machine operator for various blouse mills in the Slate Belt area before retiring in 1982. Born on February 22, 1925, in Bangor, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Ruth (Smith) Hopper.
She was a member of the ILGWU, the women's League at the Salvation Army and St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Plainfield Twp. She was an avid church-goer.
She was the wife of the late Jeremiah A. Haffling who died in 1992 and her first husband, the late Clarence Sprague who died in 1959.
She is survived by three daughters , Trudie Page of Plainfield Twp., Gail Rodgers of Pen Argyl and Audrey Steiert of Wind Gap; a sister, Miriam Campanaro of Allentown; eleven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two brothers , Harvey and Harold Hopper and four sisters , Eloise Harris, Bertha Meyers, Ellave Schmoyer and Arlene Hopper.
Calling hours on Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the James B. Gaffney Funeral Home, 200 S. Robinson Ave., Pen Argyl. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 1422 Church Road, Pen Argyl. Interment in Wind Gap Cemetery, Plainfield Twp.
