Thomas J. Robertson, 71, of East Stroudsburg, died on Tuesday at home. He was the husband of Anne (Bestecky) Robertson, at home.
He was born in Buffalo, N.Y., a son of the late Joseph and Sarah (Bordman) Robertson. He had been a resident of Monroe County for the past 26 years and prior to that of Long Island. He was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in East Stroudsburg. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army; having served during World War II.
Prior to his retirement in 1988, he was employed as a printer for Charles Findur Company in New York City for 10 years; prior to that he worked for various printing companies in New York City. He was a member of the Pocono Irish Club, and the Pocono Ski Club, both of Stroudsburg; the Retired Volunteer Seniors R.S.V.P. of Monroe County; a volunteer for the American Red Cross Disaster Service and Human Resources System for 6 years; and a volunteer for the Pocono Medical Center for 9 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Gerard J. Robertson of New York City; a daughter, Mary Kay Avedesian, wife of Craig, of State College; and 4 grandchildren, Kristen, Matthew, James, and Daniel.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 25, at 9 a.m. in St. Matthew's Catholic Church in East Stroudsburg with Father John A. Bergamo as the celebrant.
There will be no viewing. The Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg is in charge of arrangements.

Leo DeSanto Sr., 82, of Pocono Summit died Sunday after an illness in Penn State Geisinger Medical, Wyoming Valley. His wife is the former Julia Ann Rusnack. They had recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Born in Pocono Summit, he was the son of the late Levino and Madeline (Delano) DeSanto. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. having served in World War II, and retired as a Master Sergeant. He was an active member of the American Legion Post #413, Pocono Pines. He retired from Connaught Laboratories, Swiftwater.
In addition to his wife, Julia, he is survived by a son, Leo Richard of Telford and a daughter, Judith M. brothers of Centerville, Ohio. Also surviving are his brother, Richard of Philadelphia; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Mission Church, Pocono Summit. Msgr. Arthur J. Kaschenbach will preside.
Interment immediately following the Mass at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to St. Mary of the Mount building fund, Mt. Pocono or the American Heart Association.

Margaret P. Williams, 88 of 383 Shoemaker Avenue, Swoyersville, died Wednesday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. She was born August 12, 1909 in Nanticoke, a daughter of the late John L. and Eliza Flower Sullivan.
A resident of Trenton, N.J., for 16 years, she was employed at Trenton Odd Fellows Home, Hopewell Home for Retarded Children, and Pennington High School cafeteria. She also resided in the Poconos for several years and was employed at the Pocono Mountain school system.
In 1975, she returned to the Wilkes-Barre area. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert B. Williams; sisters , Elizabeth Schmaltz, Grace Lavine, Florence Ream; and brothers , James, Thomas, Bertrum and John Sullivan.
She is survived by a son, Gary L. Williams, Sr., Swoyersville; a daughter, Eleanor J. Keiper of Pocono Lake; 7 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. from E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. Services will be conducted by Rev. David McFarland, Pastor of Parsons Welsh Baptist Church. Interment will be in Seese Hill Cemetery, Canadensis. Friends may call Friday, 7 to 9 p.m.

Therese A. Dredger, 66, of Effort, died Thursday at the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg.
Born in New York City, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Curtin) Hurley.
She was the wife of the late Joseph G. Dredger who died in 1987.
She was employed as an Accountant for Citibank in Huntington, Long Island, N.Y. for over 10 years retiring in 1987.
She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert. She was a member of the American Legion Post 927 Ladies Auxiliary of Gilbert and also a member of the Sun Valley Volunteer Fire Company in Effort.
She is survived by 3 daughters , Patricia Dredger, Mary-Jo Dredger and Therese wife of Steven Hancock, all of Effort; 1 son, Joseph G. Dredger of Effort; 2 sisters , Patricia Fischer of Effort and Margaret Farrell of Miami, Fla.; and 3 grandchildren.
Funeral Services will begin 9:30 a.m., Monday, at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Inc., Route 209, Gilbert, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Route 209, Gilbert, with the Rev. Father William McCawley celebrant. Interment will be in the Cemetery of the Holy Rood in Westbury, Long Island, N.Y. Viewing will be held Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Virginia M. Porter, East Stroudsburg, passed away Thursday afternoon in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, following an illness. She was the widow of Herbert G. Porter who passed away in 1977.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late John J. and Mary Monahan Kitchen. She was a graduate of St. Agnes Academy, Rockville Center, N.Y., and the Katharine Gibbs School, Manhattan, N.Y.
A Monroe County resident since 1974, she was an active volunteer for Meals on Wheels; the Volunteer Co-Ordinating Center and MH/MR, PATH. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Joseph H. Oliphant & Co., New York, N.Y.
She is survived by 1 step-son, Steven Porter of Coplay, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a step-son, John R. Porter.
Blessing Services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the Howard J. Snowdon Funeral Home, 1810 Sanderson Avenue, Scranton.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Fairlawn Cemetery, Dalton, Pa.
The family will receive friends Monday from 1 p.m. until service time.

Eleanor V. Hydell

Eleanor V. Hydell, age 74, of Stroudsburg died Thursday at the Pocono Medical Center following a long illness.
Born in East Orange, N.J., Mrs. Hydell was a resident there until moving to Hoboken in 1943. In 1963, she and her husband moved to Sparta, N.J., to Montague, N.J., in 1973 and to Stroudsburg in 1988.
Mrs. Hydell was a resident of LaBar Village, Stroudsburg Boro.
She was a homemaker most of her life.
She was pre-deceased by a son, Ronald, in 1971 and a son, Kenneth in 1988.
Mrs. Hydell is survived by her husband, Newton H. Hydell of Stroudsburg and a son, Newton J. Hydell of Montague, N.J.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Sparta. Interment will be in Sparta Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

George G. O'Neill, 77, of Tannersville died Tuesday in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.
Born in New York City, N.Y., he was the son of the late William and Julia (Jaeger) O'Neill. He was a resident of the Tannersville area for the past 15 years and prior to that lived in the Arrowhead section of Denville, N.J.
He was employed as a steel worker at the Worthington Steel Co. of Harrison, N.J. for 40 years retiring in 1985.
He was of the Catholic faith and was an Army veteran of WWII having received the purple heart.
He is survived by two daughters , Christine Byrnes of Budd Lake, N.J., and Mary G. Lonhardt of Rougemont, N.C.; a brother, John O'Neill of Hudson, Florida; and 5 grandchildren.
A Christian Prayer Service will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, , with the Rev. Father Henry E. Zapotocki officiating. Burial will be in St. Raymonds Cemetery, Bronx, N.Y.
Visitation will be Thursday, today, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Rev. Curtis Campbell Klinger, age 85 years, of Holland Twp., N.J., died Friday, April 10, 1998, at his home following a lengthy illness.
Born September 17, 1912 in Jersey City, N.J., he was a son of the late Oliver and Lillian Adelund Klinger.
Rev. Klinger was a 1934 graduate of Columbia University School of Business and for a time was employed by the Oildom Publishing Co. where he founded FUEL OIL NEWS. He entered and graduated from the New York Theological Seminary in 1944. He was then minister of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Irvington for over 35 years (1944-1979) and was pastor Emeritus of the church. Redeemer Lutheran Church was the result of a merger between St. Johns' Lutheran Church of Newark, N.J., St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Irvington and Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Newark, N.J. Under his ministry, the church grew from 60 to over 800 members.
Surviving Rev. Klinger are his wife of 52 years, Mary Harman-Ashley Klinger; 2 sons , Curtis Klinger, Jr., of Mendham, N.J., and John Oliver Klinger of Stroudsburg; a brother, John C. Klinger of Dowelltown, Tenn; and 5 grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by 2 brothers , Harlan and Oliver C. Klinger, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 26, 1998, in the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Prospect and 41st Streets, Irvington, N.J. Family graveside services were held in Klinger's Church Cemetery, Klingerstown, Pa., on Wednesday, April 15, 1998.
The family requests that memorials in his name be made to the Memorial Fund of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Irvington, N.J., which he founded.

Evelyn I. Heller, 86 of Stroudsburg, died Monday in the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late Wilbert A. "Webb" Heller who died in 1996.
Born on April 15, 1911 in Martins Creek, she was the daughter of the late Timothy and Anna (Henry) Miller and had lived in the area all of her life. she had worked as a weaver in her early years at several mills including Monroe Silk Mill in Stroudsburg.
She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ, Stroudsburg.
She is survived by a daughter, Roberta Gaunt of Florida; a sister, Gertrude Post of Quakertown; three grandchildren; several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. in the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg, with Rev. Kevin Fruchtl officiating. Burial will follow in the Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.
There will be a viewing on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
