Jason G. Stewart, 27, of Cresco, died Saturday morning, April 25, at Sacred Heart Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of William R. and Kathleen (Mazurik) Stewart of Cresco. He was a graduate of Great Bend Community Schools. Upon completion of high school, he entered the United States Army where he served six years during which time he spent six months in Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm. Upon his return home to the United States, he served as a member of the Honor Guard at the Generals Headquarters, Ft. Stewart, Georgia. After receiving an honorable discharge from active military service, he served an additional two years with the Army Reserves. In March, 1992, he entered East Stroudsburg University where he later graduated receiving his B.S. degree in Medical Technology. He served his internships at Moses Taylor, Mercy Hospital and Community Medical Center, all in Scranton.
At the time of his death, he was a Lab Technician at Connaught Laboratories, Inc., Swiftwater. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge 780 of Cresco and the Evans Blitz Post 922 of the American Legion.
In addition to his mother and Father , he is survived by two children, Alex William and Cathy Marie Stewart of Cresco, along with his former wife, Thekla Schweikel, the mother of his children. He is also survived by a brother, Lucas Stewart of Effort; his maternal grandfather, Emanuel Keiper of Tobyhanna and a maternal step-grandmother; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
After cremation, a private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Evelyn A. Fuge, 85, of East Stroudsburg, died on Wednesday at the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of Clarence L. Fuge, at home.
She was born in East Stroudsburg, a daughter of the late Arthur M. and Ruth (Swayze) Drake.
Prior to her retirement in 1970, she owned and operated a day care center in Pen Argyl for 12 years; prior to that she worked at the former Lenape Silk Mill in East Stroudsburg as a picker for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in East Stroudsburg. She had been a resident of Monroe County for most of her lifetime.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sisters , Thelma Walck of Wind Gap, Clara Nottle of Cochranton, Pa., Bessie Singer of Scranton and Joan Hiller of Fayetteville, N.Y.; a brother, Robert Drake of Phoenixville, Pa., and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington Street, East Stroudsburg with the Rev. David Cornell officiating.
Interment will be in the Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Lanterman & Allen.
Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, North Courtland and East Broad Streets, East Stroudsburg.

William Albert Lombardi

William Albert Lombardi, 75, of Bethlehem, died Thursday in his home.
He was the husband of Mona (Stebbins) Lombardi. They were married 48 years.
He was a commercial salesman for Smith and Peifly, Allentown, for many years before retiring.
Born January 10, 1923, in East Stroudsburg, he was a son of the late William Anthony and Louise (Anzolino) Lombardi.
He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
Surviving with his wife are a son, Jay William Lombardi of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Karen Lombardi Ingle of Alexandria, Va.; 3 sisters , Flo Lombardi of Morrisville, Pa., Dora Rovito of East Stroudsburg, and Anna Catalanotti of Lauder Hill Fla.; and three granddaughters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday in Notre Dame Catholic Church, Bethlehem.
Call Sunday, 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Pearson Funeral Home, 1901 Linden Street, Bethlehem.
Interment will be in Bethlehem Memorial Park.

Sterling R. Wagner

Sterling R. Wagner, 93, of Pocono Lake died Wednesday at his home.
He was the husband of the late Alice (Roberts) Wagner.
Born in Pocono Lake, he was the son of the late George and Eva (Robacker) Wagner.
He graduated from Syracuse University with a B.S. degree in Landscape Engineering.
He was an Instructor at Syracuse University and an Assistant Professor at N.Y. State College in their Forestry Departments.
He was manager of Wagners Tree Farm, Pocono Lake from 1941-1947 and President of Wagners Forest Products, Inc., from 1947 until present.
He was the developer of Wagner Forest Park.
He served on the advisory board of Franklin First Federal Savings and Loan Association, Stroudsburg, from 1969-1987. He was Chairman of the Tobyhanna Township Planning Commission from 1964-1986.
He was a member of the Pocono Lake United Methodist Church; Monroe County Planning Commission; Pocono Forestry Association; PA Forestry Association; Society of American Foresters; and the Lions Club. He was also a former School Director for the Tobyhanna Township School District.
He is survived by a sister, Edna W. Shaffer of Allentown; 1 niece, Mary E. Kerrick, Pocono Lake, and 1 nephew, Atty. Dick W. Shaffer, Allentown.
Memorial Services will be announced later by the Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North Fifth Street, Stroudsburg.

Charles Smith Softly

Charles Smith Softly, 69, of Kunkletown, died Wednesday at the Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown.
He was the husband of Helen (Fiorianti) (Woelfel) Softly. They had been married 49 years.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late George and Amy Softly.
He had been a Supervisor for Keeblers Biscuit Bakery in Philadelphia for over 20 years. Later, he had worked for the Pleasant Valley School District in Brodheadsville as a Custodian for over 10 years.
He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert. He was a member of the Concordia Lodge #67 F & A M in Jenkintown.
In addition to his wife, Helen, he is survived by one daughter, Nancy, wife of James Matsko of Kunkletown; two granddaughters, Peri Ann Matsko of Highlands, N.J. and Nikol, wife of Thomas Harlan of Kunkletown; one grandson, James Matsko, Jr., and his wife Tricia Matsko of Detroit, Mich.; one great granddaughter, Samantha Anna Harlan of Kunkletown; 2 great grandsons, Thomas David Harlan and Jacob James Harlan of Kunkletown and nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert with the Rev. Father William McCawley celebrant. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing.

Joseph P. Lightcap, Sr., 85, of RR 1, Effort, and formerly of RD 4, Kunkletown, died Wednesday in his home.
He was the husband of the late Dorothy E. (Stout) Lightcap and the late Agnes (Berry) Lightcap.
Born in Easton, he was a son of the late Lloyd and Artina (Snyder) Lightcap.
He had been a press photographer for the Easton Express for 35 years, retiring in 1978. He received numerous national awards for his photography.
He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Gilbert.
He was a member and past treasurer of the West End Ambulance Assn. in Effort and a member and past vice president of the Hemlock Lake Assn.
He is survived by three sons , Joseph Lightcap, Jr., of Saylorsburg, William Horn of Oceanside, Calif., and James Lightcap of Brodheadsville; four daughters , Elizabeth Dimmick of Bath, Margaret Ward of Shamong Township, N.J., Rosemary Veach of Zwingle, Iowa, and Dawn Kunkle of Effort; two sisters , Margaret Fuller and Emma Empfield, both of Easton; 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded death by a brother, George Lightcap, and by two sisters , Sara Williams and Elizabeth Bender.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday from the Kresge Funeral Home, Route 209, Brodheadsville, with the Rev. Dr. Edward C. Kimes officiating. Burial will be in Gilbert Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
