Earl L. Hummer, 40, of Easton, died Sunday, March 29, in Easton Hospital.
He was born April 7, 1957 in Easton, a son of the late Louis E. and Florence M. (Germanton) Hummer.
He was a graduate of Bangor High School Class of 1975 and had been a laborer for Easton Electrical Sanitary Laundry of Easton.
He is survived by 4 brothers , Lawrence of East Stroudsburg, George of Danielsville, David of East Bangor, and Carl of Bangor; and 3 sisters , Micki Houser of Bangor, Bertha Johnson of Brodheadsville and Melissa Hummer of East Stroudsburg.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, at the Richmond United Methodist Cemetery in Richmond. Burial will follow the service. James B. Gaffney Funeral Home, 314 S. First Street, Bangor is in charge of arrangements.
There will be no calling hours.

Elizabeth W. "Bethany" Strand, 44, of East Stroudsburg died on Monday, March 30, in her home.
Born in Evanston, Ill., a daughter of Frank L. and Frances (McCandlish) Strand of East Stroudsburg. She was a resident of Monroe County for the past several years.
She was employed for Brandeis University in Boston, Mass., as a research librarian in charge of rare books and collections for 6 years.
She graduated from Mountain Lakes High School in Mountain Lakes, N.J., and graduated from Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa., in 1976, with a BS in Psychology. She earned a Masters degree in Religion form Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky., and a Masters degree in Library Science from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Ky.
She was a member of the Monroe Co. Diabetes Assn. She was also a member of the East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, the ESUMC Adult Singles Sunday School Class and the ESUMC Bible Study.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by 3 sisters , Frances Caldwell of Chesapeake, Va., Susan Wilson of Madagascar, and Katherine Strand of Evanston, Ill.; a brother, Robert W. Strand of Fredericksburg, Va.; 2 nieces and 4 nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Thomas C. McGill officiating.
There will be a viewing on Thursday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington St., East Stroudsburg.
Committal will take place in Stroudsburg Cemetery, Stroudsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, 83 South Courtland St., East Stroudsburg, 18301.

James Edward Walker, Jr.

James Edward Walker, Jr., of Mt. Pocono died Tuesday, March 31, at home, after an illness. He is survived by his wife, the former Ann Tobin.
Born in Rhode Island, he was the son of the late James E. and Gladys (DeLong) Walker.
He was a veteran of the
Korean War where he served in the United States Army. Prior to his retirement in 1994, he was employed by Oakley Service Company.
In addition to his wife, Ann, he is survived by one son, James Edward Walker of Omaha, Nebraska, and one daughter, Susan Walker of Florida. Also surviving are two grandchildren.
Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at James M. Hook & Co., Funeral Directors, 35 Sterling Road, Mt. Pocono.
Interment will take place on Friday at 11 a.m. at Indiantown National Cemetery, Indiantown Gap, Pa.

Raymond H. Fortier

Raymond H. Fortier, 75, of Hazlet, N.J., formerly of Stroudsburg, died Wednesday at Bayshore Health Care Center, Holmdel, N.J.
Born in Leeds, Mass., on December 18, 1922, he lived in Stroudsburg before moving to Hazlet 2 years ago.
He was employed by the New York City Transit Authority as a mechanic for 37 years, retiring in 1981.
In addition to his wife, the former Anne Diamond, he is survived by a son, Raymond J. W. of Keansburg, N.J.; a daughter, Susan Fortier of Hazlet, N.J., a sister, Grace Pelland, of Florence, Mass.; and 3 grandchildren.
He was a member of Holy Family Church, in Union Beach.
He served in the Coast Guard during WWII.
Services will be held on Friday at the Holy Family Church in Union Beach. Interment will take place at the Fair View Cemetery in Middletown, N.J.

Jennie Angle

Mrs. Jennie Angle, a life long resident of Stroudsburg, died on March 30, 1998, in Riverside, Calif., where she was residing with her son and his wife since 1992.
She was 86 years old.
She was a member of the V.F.W. and the Ladies Auxiliary.
She was also a grey lady at the Pocono Hospital for many years.
She is survived by her son, Harold Angle of Riverside, Calif.; two sisters , Mrs. Ada Diehl of Somerset, N.J. and Mrs. Edith Fish of Stroudsburg; one brother, Wilson Harlen Transue of Tannersville; five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
Cremation was at he Rubidoux Jurupa Valley Mortuary in Riverside, Calif., and inurnment of her ashes will be at Prospect Cemetery in Stroudsburg.

Margaret Joyce Mullen

Margaret Joyce Mullen, 57, of Cresco R.R. 1, died early Friday morning in her home. She was the husband of Thomas B. Mullen, at home.
Born on January 5, 1941, in East Stroudsburg, she was a daughter of J. Reed and Margaret (Phillips) Siglin, of Cresco, and was a lifetime resident of Monroe County.
She was a clerk for the United States Postal Service for 24 years having worked at several post offices throughout Monroe County and was also a part-time employee of the London Fog store in the Crossings outlets.
She was an active member of the Barrett Township Volunteer Ambulance Corp and also volunteered at the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg.
Surviving in addition to her husband and parents are a son Jeffrey Reed Mullen of Cresco; a sister, Nancy Schildt of Kimberton; a niece, Kimberly Schildt; and two nephews, Scott Mullen and Peter Mullen.
Private memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg, with the Rev. Thomas E. Richards, Jr., pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Tannersville, officiating.

Mildred Osborne, 92 of Saylorsburg, died on Tuesday, March 31 in the Slate Belt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where she was a guest since November of 1992.
Born on December 17, 1905 in Bangor, she was a daughter of the late Mahlon and Hannah Bennett Stoddard.
She was a school teacher in the Bangor High School for 36 years before retiring in 1963.
She was a member of the Cherry Valley United Methodist Church; Eastern Star Ethel Chapter of Bangor where she received her 50 year pin in June of 1994; and a member and past president of the Senior Women's Club of Bangor where she organized their evening group. She was a Captain and Commissioner of the Slate Belt Girl Scouts. She also helped organize the Professional and Business Women's Club of Bangor.
She was a 1923 graduate of Bangor High School, a 1926 graduate of Kutztown College, attended William and Mary College and received her masters from Lehigh University in 1941.
She is survived by a step-daughter, Bonny Garner of Ogden, UT; four step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer E. Osborne and a sister, Dorothy.
Calling hours will be on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Fiore Funeral Home, 230 Market Street, Bangor. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home on Monday. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Bangor.

Frances Fodera

Frances Fodera, of Blairstown, N.J., died at her home on April 4, 1998, following a long illness.
She was an employee in the bookkeeping department at the former Mid-Lantic Bank of Newton, N.J., for 25 years before her retirement.
She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late John and Rosaria Fodera. She lived most of her life in Blairstown.
Miss Fodera was a member of St. Judes Church of Blairstown.
She is survived by two sisters with whom she resided, Josephine Fodera and Anna Fodera. She was predeceased by two brothers , John "Ben" in 1993 and Tony in 1995.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Newbaker Funeral Home, Route 94, Blairstown. A funeral liturgy will be held on Wednesday, April 8, at 10 a.m. in St. Judes Church, Blairstown. Burial will follow in the Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Blairstown.

Paul H. Christman, 62, of Lehighton, died on Saturday in Gnaden Heutten Hospital in Lehighton.
Born on May 25, 1935, in Monroe County, he was the son of the late Floyd and Eva (Jones) Christman.
He was worked heavy machinery for JJR Enterprises in Lehighton. He was of the Jehovah's Witness faith and a member of the Pen Argyl Legion and Shuffle Alley.
He is survived by his wife, Sueann (Manini) Christman at home; three brothers , Chester of Lehighton, Floyd of Saylorsburg and Larry of Packerton, Pa.; three sisters , Mae Kline of Gilbert, Fern Scitney of Lehighton and Joyce Christman of Kunkletown; three sons , Troy of Virginia, Hope of Kunkletown, and Paul of Palmerton; five daughters , April of New Jersey, Amy of Germany, Jodie of Bangor and twins, Emily of Albrightsville and Sara of Bangor; and seven grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Schmidt Home Inc., 202 West Street, Wind Gap. Services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Plainfield Cemetery.

Margaret M. Dorwart, 58, of Effort died Monday at home. She was the wife of Daniel Dorwart. They had been married 39 years.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late George and Margaret (Franklin) Smith.
She had worked as a Bank Teller at Merchants Bank in Gilbert and First Fidelity in Tannersville for 6 years. She had also worked for First Pennsylvania Bank in Philadelphia as a Bookkeeper and Clerk.
She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert.
In addition to her husband, Daniel, she is survived by five daughters , Margaret Mary wife of Raymond Kenny of Philadelphia, Teresa Marie wife of Bruce Myers of Philadelphia, Rosemarie wife of Joseph Hopkins of New Jersey, Pamela Dorwart and Melanie Dorwart, both of Effort; two sons , Daniel Dorwart III of Philadelphia and Anthony Dorwart of Bensalem; two sisters , Catherine Renz and Mary Ellen Dryslewski, both of Philadelphia; one brother, George Smith of New Jersey; and 17 grandchildren.
Funeral services will begin 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 14, at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Inc., Route 209, Gilbert, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert with the Rev. Father William McCawley officiating. Interment will be in the Buena Vista Cemetery, Brodheadsville. Viewing will be held 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, April 13, and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, at the funeral home.
