JACQUELINE LYNN McNALLY GARSTECK
Jacqueline Lynn McNally Garsteck, 47, of Ohler Road, Bullskin Township, Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, due to injuries sustained in a multi-car accident in Bullskin Township. She was born Feb. 18, 1953, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Minnie M. Hunter McNally of Scottdale and the late John "Jack" McNally, who died July 8, 1982. Jackie was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Scottdale. She was a senior customer service representative at Standard Bank, Mt. Pleasant, with 14 years of service, and a part-time Stanley Home Products dealer. She was a staunch supporter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Jackie's life was filled with giving and sharing, and a deep devotion for her husband, sons and family. In addition to her mother , Minnie M. Hunter McNally of Scottdale, Jackie leaves to cherish her memories her loving and devoted husband, Gregory W. Garsteck of Mt. Pleasant, with whom she celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary June 29, 1999; three sons , Joshua, 18, Nicholas, 16 and Christopher 14, all at home; a sister, Catherine McNally Routzahn and her husband, John, of Connellsville; two brothers , John David McNally and his wife, Sonnie, of Alverton and Mark W. McNally and his wife, Marcy, of Newell; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Carol and Joe Garsteck; and a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. "We have lost a ray of sunshine." In addition to her Father John "Jack" McNally, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Carol Ellen McNally, who died Nov. 15, 1956. Jackie's family will receive friends in the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 W. Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist R.C. Church with the Rev. Emil S. Payer as celebrant. A parish wake service will be held Thursday at 7:45 p.m. in the funeral home. The family strongly suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society in Jackie's Father 's memory, John McNally, or to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in memory of Jacqueline Lynn Garsteck.

Elizabeth C. "Betty" Horvath, 85, of Greensburg, formerly of Hahntown, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Oct. 1, 1914, in Jeannette, a daughter of the late George E. and Wilhelmina Yurt Hizer. She was retired from Femco-Gulton Industries, Irwin. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew "Rudy" Horvath; and two sisters , Henrietta Kunesh and Genevieve Roscosky. She is survived by a son, Adrian F. and his wife, Luann Horvath, of Southwest Greensburg; three grandchildren, Andrew, Emily and Aaron Horvath; a brother, Robert Hizer of Columbia, Mo.; three sisters , Georga Roscosky of Jeannette, Minnie Loughner of Mammont, and Rosemary Kardos of West Newton; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, beginning Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Friday at 9 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in the Church of St. Paul, Greensburg, with the Rev. Leonard W. Stoviak as celebrant. Entombment will follow in the Greensburg Catholic Mausoleum. CONNIE LYNN LAYMAN
Connie Lynn Layman, 44, of Connellsville, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 19, 2000, at her home. She was born Sept. 14, 1955, in Connellsville, a daughter of the late Earl F. and Katharine Romaine McKlveen Layman. She was a graduate of the Connellsville Area Joint High School and was employed by the L.E. Smith Glass Co. of Mt. Pleasant as a lyre selector. She was a member of the Pennsville United Methodist Church. Surviving are two brothers ; two sisters ; three aunts, Learae McKlveen, Elsie Layman and Alona Long, all of Connellsville. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her grandparents, Katharine and Merle McKlveen (with whom she lived and by whom she was raised); and a sister, Cindy Krempasky. There will be no visitation or viewing. Private services will be conducted at the convenience of the family. The BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, is handling arrangements.
VINCENT L. PANDOLF
Vincent L. Pandolf, 63, of Akron, Ohio, died Sunday, March 19, 2000. He was born in Greensburg, the son of the late Lawrence and Grace Pandolf. He had been employed as a diesel mechanic, formerly with the Mack Truck Co., and at the time of retirement, he was working for the Kenmore Construction Co. Vincent was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. He will be remembered as a person who enjoyed various hobbies, including model planes and trains, sports, and working on his computer. He is survived by three sisters , Annette (Frank) Scarito of Portage Lakes, Ohio, Ann Marie Hughes and Loraine Pandolf, both of Greensburg; aunts, Anne and Armenia Basile; uncle, Domenic Basile; and nieces and nephews, and their families. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Bernard Catholic Church, Akron, Ohio. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Daniel E. Serman, 51, of Irwin, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Sept. 22, 1948, in Greensburg, a son of the late Kenneth and Thelma Kozain Serman. He was a social studies teacher for the Penn-Trafford Middle School, and a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Irwin. He was a graduate of Penn State University and had received a master's degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania . He is survived by his wife, Connie L. Sowash Serman; two daughters , Carrie Serman and Allison Serman, both at home; two brothers , Richard Serman of Claridge and Carl Serman of Cranberry; and a sister, Carol Reisz of Claridge. Also nieces and nephews. ANDREW SHERBUCK
Andrew Sherbuck, 76, of Greensburg, formerly of Norvelt, died Monday, March 20, 2000, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Nov. 25, 1923, in Mammoth, Pa., a son of the late John and Mary Vojeck Sherbuck. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Davis Supermarket, Greensburg. Andy was one of the most devoted and loyal followers of the Mt. Pleasant High School sports. For many years, he assisted with scorekeeping for basketball and football at Hurst High School. As an official team statistician, he served over 50 years for the Mt. Pleasant Area High School football program. He also assisted in scorekeeping for the Mt. Pleasant varsity basketball team and had served as a correspondent with the local high school sportswriters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters , Margaret Fillia, Frank Sherbuck, Agnes Stewart, Pauline Funk, Steve, John, Joseph Sherbuck and Mary Harney. Survived by two sisters , Catherine Bosich of Norvelt and Anna Thomas of Latrobe; and a brother, John Sherbuck of Greensburg. Friends will be received at the JAY A. NEVA PEARL WALTONBAUGH
Neva Pearl Waltonbaugh, 90, formerly of West Newton, died Saturday, March 18, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Dec. 28, 1909, in Gratztown. She was the last child of 13 children to Sidney and Neva Cochenour Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Waltonbaugh; a daughter, Betty Bergman; and a son, Jack Waltonbaugh. She is survived by a daughter, Neva Taraboletti of Greensburg; a brother, David Simmons of Finleyville; 20 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Her family will always remember her gift of a healing touch and her ability to make everyone she knew feel special. A graveside committal service will be held at the West Newton Cemetery Thursday at 3 p.m., followed by a memorial service at the Gratztown Primitive Methodist Church at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. MYRTLE (SPHON) WEAVER
Myrtle (Sphon) Weaver, 88, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born June 11, 1911, in Latrobe, a daughter of the late Leo Sphon and Bertha Eckels Sphon. She was a member of the First Reformed United Church of Christ, Greensburg, and was formerly employed in the housekeeping department of the Westmoreland Regional Hospital. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Lillian Shook Sphon; her husband, John Weaver; three brothers , Leo Sphon Jr., Frank Sphon and Robert Kirkland; two baby brothers , Richard and Paul Sphon; and two sisters , Helen Monnich and Lena J. Noel. She is survived by three sisters , Edna and her husband, George Drap, of Bovard, Margie Bergvall of Hannastown and Ruth Reese of Greensburg; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. Interment will be private in the Hillview Cemetery, Hempfield Township. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., Greensburg.

Gay V. Carns, 69, of Latrobe RD5, died Monday, March 20, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born June 1, 1930, in Youngstown, Pa., a daughter of the late Roy and Cora Piper Harr. She had retired from the Edgewood Nursing Center, Youngstown, Pa., and was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church, Latrobe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a stepson, Keith A. Carns; and a sister, Nancy Harr. Survivors include her husband, James L. Carns; eight stepsons, James Carns and his wife, Marlene, of Latrobe, Greg Carns and Dennis Carns, both of Latrobe, John Scott Carns of St. Petersburg, Fla., Andre "Mick" Carns and his wife, Debbie, of Latrobe, Kevin Carns and his wife, Dawna, of Derry, Girard "Jeep" Carns and his wife, Roxanne, of Rock Island, Ill., and David Carns of Pittsburgh; three stepdaughters, Angela Marks and her husband, Dave, of Sidney, Ohio, Margaret "Peggy" Goldberg and her husband, Harry, of Youngwood and Linda Foster of Latrobe; a brother, Darwin Harr and his wife, Geraldine, of Latrobe RD4 and Gladys Bates of Latrobe RD5; 12 stepgrandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Louise E. Cobb, 72, of Murrysville, died Monday, March 20, 2000, in the Forbes Regional Health Center, Monroeville. She was born Dec. 1, 1927, in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of the late Herbert and Florence Meyers Stanton. Louise was a member of the mother of Sorrows Church, a homemaker and a loving wife, mother , and grandmother. She was involved in various community activities, Meals-on-Wheels, bowling leagues and bridge clubs. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, William R. Cobb of Murrysville; three sons , Robert and wife, Syndi, of Columbus, Ohio, Michael of Columbus, Ohio, and Steven and wife, Wendy, of Memphis, Tenn.; a daughter, Cynthia S. Todd and her husband, Thomas, of Monroeville; two brothers , Donald and James Stanton; six grandchildren, Christy, Luke, Ryan, and Abbey Cobb, Jonathan and Tonia Todd; and a great-grandchild, Chance. Ernest E. Pletcher, 86, of White , Pa., died Monday, March 20, 2000, in the Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. LLOYD POSTA
Lloyd "Babe" Posta, 83, of Mt. Pleasant, went to be with his Lord Sunday, March 19, 2000, in Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, after a courageous two year fight with cancer. He was born Dec. 3, 1916, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late Frank and Anna Ibl Posta. He was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church. Babe was a graduate of the Ramsay High School with the class of 1934 and a Nebraska business school. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Army Air Corps in the China, Burma, and India theaters. He was a member of the VFW Post 3368, where he had served as quartermaster for the past 22 years. Babe was also a member of the American Legion Post 446 and the C.S.A. Lodge 234, Loyalhanna. He was a volunteer at the Latrobe Area Hospital Oncology Department. For the 36 years prior to his retirement, Lloyd worked for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board and was a manager in several Westmoreland County stores. He is survived by his loving family: his wife of 44 years, Marie Precosky Posta; daughters , Cindy Harr of Latrobe and Sandy Gaskey and husband, Gene, of Mt. Pleasant; five grandchildren, Jared and wife, Diana, Michael and wife, Monica, and Patrick Harr, and Bart and Gina Gaskey; and three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Smith, and Alex and Jacob Harr; a brother, Frank Posta and wife, Helen, of Inverness, Fla.; a sister, Ellen Minster of Rocklin, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Robert Harr; two sisters , Mary Murphy and Arda Beranek; three brothers , Rudolph, George, and James A. M. Frank Pultz Sr., 88, of Greensburg, died Monday, March 20, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born May 15, 1911, in Greensburg, a son of the late Charles and Christine Barnard Pultz. He had been the owner of the Frank Pultz Inc. Oldsmobile and International Truck dealership in the Greensburg area, retiring in 1979. During his business career, Frank volunteered with the Salvation Army and various civic organizations. He was a member of the Greensburg Rotary Club, past board member of the Pennsylvania Automobile Dealers Association, past board member of the Greensburg Country Club, and a volunteer with many other community associations. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret Murphy Pultz. Surviving are his four sons , M. Frank Pultz Jr. of Greensburg, William C. Pultz of California, Daniel M. Pultz of Pittsburgh and Barney Pultz of Greensburg; a brother, Lewis Pultz of Connecticut; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
