Pennsylvania Obituary and Marriage Records, 1947-2010

Dr. Frank J. Farrell, Jr.
Dr. Frank J. Farrell, Jr., age 68, of Trexler Road, Schnecksville PA, died Tuesday, September 23, 2003 in his home. He was the Husband of Barbara A. (Ruch) Farrell. The couple celebrated their 44th Wedding Anniversary this past June.

Born in West Chester PA, he was the son of the late Frank J. Sr. and Sylvia R. (Crosby) Farrell. He was a Member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, White hall PA, where he served on the Church Council, taught Sunday School and was a Lector for a number of years. He was most recently the Interim Superintendent for the Southern Lehigh School District, for 9 months, retiring in 1999.

Prior to that he was Executive Director of the Lehigh Valley Business/Education Partnership from 1993-1999; Superintendent of Record for Lehigh County Vocational Technical School from 1980-1993 and concurrently Superintendent of Schools for the Catasauqua Area School District from 1973-1993; Principal of the Catasauqua High School from 1967-1973; Principal of Palmerton Middle School from 1965-1967; Administrative Assistant, in charge of the 7th and 8th Grade Center, White hall School District from 1963-1965; and a Science Teacher for the White hall High School from 1959-1963.

He was a Veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War, achieving the Rank of Specialist 3rd Class. He was a Graduate of Springfield Township High School, Erdenheim PA, Class of 1952. He attended Undergraduate Courses at the University of Maryland, Overseas Program, in 1956; Graduate Courses at the East Stroudsburg University; Graduated with a B.S. from West Chester University, Class of 1959; received his Master's Degree in Education from Lehigh University in 1961; and received his Ph. D. from Walden University, Florida, completing a dissertation titled 'A Comparative Analysis of Strike Factors In Selected School Districts in Pennsylvania ' in 1983.

Dr. Farrell was a Member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators, where he served on the State Board of Governors for eleven years; Member of the American Association of School Administrators, where he served as a State Advisor to the organization as well as a State Delegate; Member of the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA), where he served on the Executive Board of Directors; Member of the Lehigh Valley Business Conference on Heath Care, where he served on the Board of Directors; Member of the "School Works!", where he served on the Board of Directors and as the Treasurer of the organization; Member of the Regional Joint Action Team (a Pennsylvania Department of Education and Department of Labor initiative), where he served as the Co-Chairman for Berks, Lehigh and Northampton Counties.

Dr. Farrell was a Member of the Pennsylvania Department of Education In-Service Committee; Member of the Educational Committee of the Hillside School, Macungie, PA; Member of the Board of Directors of the Private Industry Council (PIC); Member of the Board of Directors of the Literacy Council; Member of the Allentown-Lehigh Chamber of Commerce, where he served on the Board of Directors from 1989-1992; Member of the Minsi Trails Council (Boy Scouts of America), where he served on the Board of Directors and as Chairman of the Learning for Life Career Awareness Program; Member of the Porter Lodge #284, F. & A. M., Catasauqua; Member of the Catasauqua Exchange Club for 30 years; Member of the YMCA Board of Directors, Catasauqua; Former Assistant Coach of the football, baseball and track at White hall High School; Former Coach of the age group football and baseball for the North Parkland Buffalos; and Sponsored classes at White hall High School.

He is survived by his Wife; sons , Frank J. Farrell, III of Walkersville MD and Brian M. Farrell of Blue Bell PA; daughters , Kelly L. Bilotta of Breinigsville PA and Shelly F. Santa-Anna of Atlanta GA; Brother; John Herbert Farrell of Coopersburg PA; and 5 Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 26, 2003 in Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3355 MacArthur Road, White hall PA. Family and Friends may Call 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Thursday in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville PA and 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Church. The Reverend Michael J. Bodnyk officiating. Interment in St. John's Union Cemetery, White hall PA.

Leon T. "Tim" Fehnel
Leon T. "Tim" Fehnel, age 60, of 3107 North 3rd Street, White hall PA, died Wednesday, March 14, 2001 in his home. He was the Husband of Linda L. (Petrash) Fehnel. The couple celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary last December 24th.

Born December 6, 1940 in Cherryville PA, he was the Son of Florence M. (Williams) Schwartz of Northampton PA and the late Leon S. Fehnel. He was a Laborer in the Waste Management Department of Friskies, formerly Alpo Pet Foods in South White hall Twp. for the last 39 years. He was a Member of First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua, White hall PA where he served as a Deacon. He was a Veteran of the United States Army Private First Class, having served during Peacetime.

He is survived by his Wife and mother ; sons , Joseph A. Fehnel of Catasauqua PA and David L. Fehnel of White hall PA; brothers , Robert L. Fehnel of Philadelphia PA, Ronald T. Arner of Salem CT, Barry Arner of Littleton CO and Walter Green of Wescosville PA; and Sister, Judy A. Eckhart of Lehighton PA.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2001 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville. Calling Hours will be 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Sunday, in the Funeral Home. The Reverend Edward J. Santana-Grace will officiate. Interment in Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown PA.

In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Family.

Warren E. Follweiler
Warren E. Follweiler, age 79, of Schnecksville PA and Naples FL, died Friday evening, January 20, 2006 at his Schnecksville residence. He was the husband of Naomi R. (Kern) Follweiler. The couple celebrated their 59th Wedding Anniversary last January.

Born in Orefield PA, Warren was the son of the late Mark W. Follweiler and Goldie M. (Ruch) Wade. He was a Carpenter for the Kern Construction Co., Schnecksville PA, for 15 years before retiring in 1988. Prior to that, he worked at the former Kern & Simock Construction Co., Schnecksville PA for 15 years. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a Life Member of the Vernon G. Kern V.F.W. Post # 8344, Schnecksville and Life Member and Former Volunteer for the Community Fire Co. #1, Schnecksville.

He is survived by his Wife; daughters , Elaine K., wife of Russ Kessler of Schnecksville PA and Barbara A., wife of G. Scott Woods of Coplay PA; Sister, Grace Gaffney of Northampton PA; 8 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2006 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville. Family and Friends may call 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow the service at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs PA.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Union U.C.C. Fund For A New Beginning c/o the Funeral Home, PO Box 196, Schnecksville PA 18078-0196.

Athalee H. (Hardin) Goodwin
Athalee H. (Hardin) Goodwin, age 76, of Orefield PA, formerly of Baltimore MD, died Tuesday, April 01, 2003 in the Inpatient Hospice Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown PA. She was the Widow of the late Raymond L. Goodwin.

Born in Jacksboro TN, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Siotha (Lovett) Hardin. She was a Clerk for Maryland Casualty Co. in Baltimore MD for 10 years, retiring in 1975. She was a former Member of the Reformation Lutheran Church, Baltimore MD.

She is survived by her Daughter, Sharon L. Rittershofer of Orefield PA, whom she resided; Son, Thomas R. Goodwin of Altamonte Springs FL; Sister, Faye Burns of Odenton MD; Brother, Robert Hardin of Brooklyn Park MD; 3 Grandsons and 1 Great Granddaughter

Graveside Services will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 05, 2003 in the Glen Haven Memorial Park, 7215 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie MD. Family and Friends may call 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the McCully - Polyniak Funeral Home, 237 East Patapsco Avenue, Baltimore MD. Interment in Glen Haven Memorial Park, Glen Burnie MD. Local arrangements are by the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., Schnecksville PA.

Betty S. Gross
Betty S. Gross, age 71, of 3540 Old Philadelphia Pike, Bethlehem PA, died Monday, December 25, 2000 at the St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill PA. She was the Wife of Karl L. Gross. The couple shared their 51st Anniversary today.

Born September 30, 1929 in Freemansburg PA, she was the Daughter of the late Lawrence and Beatrice A. (Buss) Sinnwell. She was Secretary for the former Home Sew in Bethlehem for 19 years until retiring. She was previously a Teller for 15 years for Keystone Savings & Loan, Bethlehem, a Clerk for the former Sears & Roebuck Company, 3rd Street in Bethlehem for 4 years and a Clerk for Wesson - Dodson Coal Company, Bethlehem for many years.

She was a Member of Faith United Church of Christ, Center Valley PA. She was also Past officer for Se-Wy-Co Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her Husband. She was predeceased in death by her Son, Timothy and Daughter, Amey.

A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 28, 2000 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 326 Main Street, Hellertown. Calling Hours 10:00 - 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home. Interment in Friedensville Cemetery, Upper Saucon Twp. PA.

Diane E. Geier
Diane E. Geier, age 41, of Wilhelm Road, Bethlehem PA, died Monday, October 7, 2002 in her home. She was the Wife of Arden J. Geier. The couple celebrated their 14th Wedding Anniversary this past August.

Born in Nanticoke PA, she was the daughter of the Reverend Augustus V. and Josephine M. (Kammerer) Tietbohl of Coopersburg PA. She was a Homemaker. She was a Member of Church on the Move, Allentown PA

She is survived by her Husband; Parents; Son, Joshua D. Geier at home; daughters , Laura L. Geier and Lisa S. Geier at home; and Brother, Mark A. Tietbohl of Quakertown PA. She is predeceased in death by her Brother, Joel Andrew Tietbohl who died in 1990.

Funeral Services will be Private and at the convenience of the Family. There are no calling hours. Private Interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Springfield Township. Arrangements are by the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main Street, Hellertown PA 18055 .

Elias A. Grube, Jr.
Elias A. Grube, Jr., age 84, of 903 Birch Road, Hellertown PA, died Monday, November 26, 2001 at the Gracedale in Upper Nazareth Township PA. He was the Husband of Katharine I. (Cope) Grube. The couple celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary this past June.

Born in Hellertown PA, he was the Son of the late Elias A. Grube Sr. and Stella J. (Reiss) Grube. He was a Molder Helper at the Bethlehem Steel for 42 years, retiring in 1978. He was a Member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pleasant Valley PA. He was also a Member of the Knights of the Golden Eagle of Hellertown PA, the Dewey Fire Company of Hellertown PA, and Past Council Member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pleasant Valley PA.

He is survived by his Wife; Son, David E. Grube of Montoursville PA; Daughter, Eileen K. Moyer of Bethlehem PA; sisters , Edna Leidich of Hellertown PA and Jeanette Grube of Hellertown PA; and 3 Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 29, 2001 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 326 Main Street, Hellertown PA. Family and Friends may call 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning, in the Funeral Home. The Reverend Dr. Donald C. Hagey officiating. Interment in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Allentown PA.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Charity of One's Choice.

Esther A. (Fronk) Gerk
Esther A. (Fronk) Gerk, age 70, of Northampton PA, formerly of Orefield PA, died Monday, May 06, 2002 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township PA. She was the Widow of the late Charles F. Gerk.

Born in Aristes PA, she was the Daughter of the late Edward F. and Izora (Davis) Fronk. She was a Cleaning Lady for the Kuhnsville Hotel for 4 years, retiring in 1994. Prior to that, she was a Turkey Processor at Jaindl's Turkey Farm in Orefield for 10 years.

She is survived by her daughters , Cindy S. Oswald of Kutztown PA, Tina M. Gerk, with whom she resided and Bonnie K. McGuire of Marshalls Creek PA; Brother, Lewis Fronk of Mt. Carmel PA; sisters , Betty Lukach of Philadelphia PA, Evelyn V. Viola of Catawissa PA and Kathryn Neumeister of Glastonbury CT; Step mother , Ruth Fronk of Shenandoah PA; 1 Grandson and 2 Step Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 09, 2002 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville PA. Family and Friends may Call 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home. The Reverend George E. Hein officiating. Interment in Grandview Cemetery, Allentown PA.
