Mary Margaret Poerstel Cavanaugh, 74, of Mt. Washington , formerly of Latrobe, died Saturday, March 18, 2000. She was a retired nurse from the Allegheny County Health Department, and was an active member of St. Justin Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Cavanaugh. She is survived by six daughters , Kathleen Palmer, Margaret Fiore, Eileen Weinmann, and Anne, Maureen and Mary Cavanaugh; six sons , Patrick, Michael, Timothy, Kevin, Sean and Brian; mother -in-law of Cindy, Angela, Linda and Candace Cavanaugh, Harry Palmer, Anthony Weinmann and Carl Fiore; 19 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; four sisters ; and four brothers . Silvio P. Curci, 76, of Mt. Pleasant RD5, died at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2000, in the Latrobe Area Hospital. Friends received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 406 E. Washington St., Mt. Pleasant, Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a concelebrated Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant, with Mr. Curci's son, the Rev. Richard Curci, as principal celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Florian Cemetery, United. JOHN J. EMILI
John J. Emili, 76, of Greensburg RD9, died Friday, March 17, 2000, in Latrobe Area Hospital. Born Feb. 21, 1924, in Derry, he was a son of the late Nazzareno and Ida DelCastello Emili. Prior to retirement, he had been employed by the former General Tire of Greensburg. He was a professional musician for over 40 years and a member of the Quintones. He was also a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Crabtree Volunteer Fire Department, Democratic Club of Greensburg, American Legion, Latrobe, and the Greensburg Musical Society Local 339 of the American Federation of Musicians. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Hector. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters , Phyllis and Olga Emili, Beatrice Hyduke and Rita Grabiak; and a brother, Herman Emili. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Viola Schehr Emili; two sons , Jerry Emili and wife, Barbara, of Greensburg and Don Nazzareno Emili and Ana of Chicago, Ill.; a granddaughter, Jessica; three sisters , Mary Louise Ferretti and husband, John, of Greensburg RD9, Jessie Marto and husband, Robert, of Greensburg and Cecelia Antinori and husband, John, of Crabtree; a brother, Carl Emili and wife, Gladys, of Greensburg RD9; and several nieces and nephews. Jean Donna Herholz, 69, of Penn, died Friday, March 17, 2000, in the Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 20, 1930, in Jeannette, a daughter of the late Isaac and Mary Devine Barry. She was a member of the Penn Evangelical Lutheran Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers , Isaac and John Barry; and two sisters , Catherine Brickell and Helen Anderson. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Robert Herholz; a son, Michael and his wife, Darlene, of Jeannette; three daughters , Pamela Ault and her husband, Robert, of Jeannette, Susan Huffer and her husband, Keith, of North Huntingdon and Terrie Bowman and her husband, Jeff, of Grapeville; eight grandchildren, Mike Ault, Holly Herholz, Kelly Oates, Heidi Herholz, Jeannie Bowman, John Huffer, Paul Bowman and Tyler Huffer; four great-grandchildren, Caide Ault, Makenzie Oates, Caitlin Ault and Brooke Oates; a sister, Irene Long of Jeannette; and a number of nieces and nephews. FRANCES PEARL LEE
Frances Pearl "Quinnie" Lee, 89, the matriarch of the family, passed away peacefully on St. Patrick's Day, Friday, March 17, 2000, in Raleigh, N.C., formerly of Charleroi. She lived her Irish heritage and left a legacy of love for family and friends. God now holds her in the palm of His hand. She was born May 2, 1910, in Smithton, a daughter of the late Thomas and Ellen Irwin Quinn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Lee, on May 26, 1964; five brothers , Jim, John, Harry, Tom and Regis Quinn; and two sisters , Anna Pearl and Marg Quinn. She was a member of Mary mother of the Church of Charleroi, the CD of A, the LAOH, the Mon Valley Nurses Association and the Charleroi Senior Citizens. She was a graduate of Dunbar High School Class of 1929 and the Mercy School of Nursing of Pittsburgh in 1932. She worked as a registered nurse in the hospitals of the Mon Valley for more than 46 years. Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Ann Casey and husband, James, of Raleigh, N.C.; two sons and daughters -in-law, F. Timothy and Carol A. Lee of Jefferson Hills, Pa., and William and Mary Lou Lee of Charleroi; 10 grandchildren, Dr. Mary Frances Moody and husband, Howard, Rosemary Czejkowski and husband, Joe, Megan Casey, Jim Casey and wife, Jill, Erin Casey, Dr. Timothy Lee and wife, Dr. Kris Lee, Brennan Lee, William Lee and wife, Amy, Michele Schwerha and husband, Joe, and Michael Lee; and 10 great-grandchildren also survive. Joseph "Tom" Pullion Sr., 70, of Charleroi, died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at his home. Born Dec. 13, 1929, in New Brighton, a son of the late Joseph P. and Armeda Nudo Pullion. He was a member of Mary, mother of the Church Parish, Charleroi, and was a volunteer at the Beverly Health Care Center. He was a Monessen High School graduate in 1947, and was a U.S. Marine veteran, having served during the Korean conflict. He was retired from U.S. Steel, Irvin Works. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Lewis Pullion; three sons and daughters -in-law, Joseph Thomas and Catherine of New Jersey, Shawn and Karen of Greensburg and Drew and Sue of Greensburg; a daughter, Beth Pullion at home; a brother, Frank Pullion of Monessen; six grandchildren, Christopher, Collette, Chelsea, Kelsey, Drew Jr. and Justin Pullion; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Francis and June Lewis of Fayette City. Grethel M. Truxal, 86, of Latrobe, died Saturday, March 18, 2000, in Latrobe Area Hospital. Born June 8, 1913, in Latrobe, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Anna Murray Weatherton. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Latrobe. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a receptionist and optometric assistant by Dr. Perlmutter's office in Greensburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Truxal; and a brother, Patrick Weatherton. She is survived by a son, Earl D. Truxal and his wife, Geraldine, of Latrobe; two granddaughters, Lynne Golembiewski and Curt Dowden, and Laura Baradziej and her husband, Barry; and seven great-grandchildren. George Zamiskie, 75, of Latrobe RR9, died Saturday, March 18, 2000, in the Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born April 15, 1924, in Latrobe, a son of the late Michael and Anna (Lakotash) Zamiska. George was a 1950 graduate of Penn State University, and prior to retirement in 1985, he was a vocational teacher with the Homer Center School District in Indiana County for over 37 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church near Bradenville, a member of the Daniel P. Nolan Knights of Columbus Council 940 in Latrobe, and a member of the St. Vincent Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He was also a member, past president, and current vice-president of the Mended Hearts Chapter 31 in Latrobe, an honorary member of the Homer City Kiwanis Club, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Zomisky; and a sister, Ann Dombroski. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth A. "Libby" (Kissell) Zamiskie; a brother, Stephen Zamiskie and wife, Helen, of Latrobe RR9; four sisters , Mary Osterling and husband, Lloyd, of Latrobe RR9, Catherine Marlow and husband, Roy, of Spokane, Wash., Helen Poklembo and husband, Joseph, and Elizabeth Faith and husband, Eugene, all of Latrobe RR9; and a number of nieces and nephews. Eleanor H. "Norrie" Arrott, 78, of Sewickley, Pa., died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, in Wooster, Ohio, following a period of declining health. Gay V. Carns, 69, of Latrobe RD5, died Monday, March 20, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born June 1, 1930, in Youngstown, Pa., a daughter of the late Roy and Cora Piper Harr. She had retired from the Edgewood Nursing Center, Youngstown, Pa., and was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church, Latrobe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a stepson, Keith A. Carns; and a sister, Nancy Harr. Survivors include her husband, James L.
