She was born Dec. 30, 1912 in Perry Twp., Greene Co. to the late Sanford and Mary Eliz. Wade Lemley. Mrs. Foley was a member of the Fox Chapel Church in Mt. Morris where she had served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Church form 1964 to 1996. She was a member of the Womens Fellowship Group of the Church. Mrs Foley was a member of the Monongalia Co. Homemakers Union and the Homemakers Club. She worked for several years as a clerk and cashier at the Walls grocery store in Core, W.Va. Her Husband: Clyde R. Foley died October 16, 1981 Surviving are 1 Daughter and Son In Law: Mrs. Harold( Ellen E.) Campbell of Mt. George Byron Bartholomew, 65 of Washington , PA formerly of Waynesburg, PA died Thursday, August 19, 2004 in the Washington Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born March 10, 1939 Chicago, Ill He is the son of the late Dr. William W. Bartholomew and Esther Forler Bartholomew. Mr. Bartholomew was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Waynesburg. He had been a student of Mary Inghram and enjoyed playing Classical Piano. George A. Berryhill, 89 of Houston Texas formerly of Waynesburg, PA died at 1:00PM MOnday Dec. 31, 2001 at S/W Memo. hosp. Houston, Texas . He was the Son of the late Albert and Alice Robinson Berryhill.Mr Berryhill lived most of his life in Waynesburg and lived the past 5 years in Texas . Mr. Berryhill was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Waynesburg where he was a former member of the Church Board. He was a Graduate of Waynesburg High School and attended Waynesburg College. Mr Berryhill was a Veteran of W.W.II having served with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific. He was a life member of the James Farrell American Legion Post #330 of Waynesburg and a member of the V.F.W. Post #4793 of Waynesburg. Mr. Berryhill was a Charter member and Past President of the Waynesburg Optimist Club. He was also a member of the Waynesburg Odd Fellows Lodge, where he had held several different chairs. Prior to serving in the Navy he was manager of the PA State Liquor Store in Waynesburg. He owned and operated the Berryhill Atlantic Service Station for over 25 years in Waynesburg. Mr. Critchfield was a member of the First Christian Church of Waynesburg were he was teacher, chior member, and Elder and was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. He was a 1939 Graduate of Wheeling H. S. From 1942-1946 he served in the U. S. Marine Corp., 3rd Marine Division during WWII. He was a Member of Waynesburg VFW # 4793, Wheeling Masonic Lodge # 5, Scottish Rite of Wheeling, El Tor Grotto of Wheeling were he served as the Chaplain, Charter member of Wheeling Christian Church where he was a trustee and an Elder, Charter Member of the Rogersville Lions Club, now called West Greene Lions Club, and a Volunteer at G.C.M.H. He was a member of Waynesburg Lions and Melvin Jones Fellow. He was a member of Clay-Batelle Seniors, Gideons International, For more than 40 Years he worked for Genuine Parts Company retiring as Vice President and General Manager of their West Virginia Stores First wife: Judy M. George A. Davison, 80 of 36 Old Hickory Ridge Road Washington , PA formerly of Waynesburg, PA died at 2:15AM Tuesday October 1, 2002 at the Washington Co. Health Ceneter, Washignton, PA He was born March 15, 1922 in Waynesburg, PA to the late Frederick and Dorothy Louise Poindexter Davison. He spent most of his life in Greene Co.Mr. Davison was affiliated with the former Bethel A.M.E. Church in Waynesburg. He was a member of the National Association of Letter carriers, Clyde Kelly Branch #84. He was a Veteran of U.S. Army having served during W.W.II with the Anti Aircraft Branch 320th AA Ballon Battalion, and was one of the 882 African American Men involved in D-Day. Mr. Davison was a U.S. Mail Carrier for 20 years in Waynesburg retiring on August 8, 1972. He was also Co Founder of the African American Club in Waynesburg. He was an advid Fan of horse racing having owned, raised and raced horses of his own. His Wife: Mary Elizabeth Reeves Davison died November 21, 1961. George Earl Durbin, Sr. 66 of Claysville, PA formerly of Greene Co. PA died at 3:05 Saturday, June 7, 2003 at home following a 1 year illness with lung cancer. He was born Oct. 10, 1936 in Franklin Twp., Greene Co. He was the Son of the late Charles F. and Goldie Pierson Durbin. Mr. Durbin was Protestant by faith. He enjoyed Gospel Music, Fishing, Hunting, and Playing his guitar. He worked for R.J. Johnson Construction Co., He then worked as a Maintenance worker for Holiday Inn and Ankrom Nursing Home. Greene Co. He was the Son of the late Ira Dempsey and Ida Mae Johnson Haines. His entire life was spent in Greene Co. Mr. Haines was a member of the Washington St. United Methodist Church in Waynesburg. George was a long time member of the East Franklin Grange#1709. He enjoyed farming while his health permitted. She was born May 3, 1922 in Rogersville to the late George L. and MAry Yost Shaw. Mrs Matthews worked for 30 years for Greenway manufacturing as a presser. She was born August 13, 1918 in Uniontown, PA A Daughter of the late Edgar and Corinne Fast Smart. Geraldine lived most of her life in Waynesburg where she was an active member of the Washington St. United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, the John Wesley Sunday School Class and had been a member of the Church Choir for several years. She also had served on several committees of the church. Geraldine enjoyed music, reading and needlework. She was a graduate of Monongahela High School class of 1936. For several years she had worked on the Election Board. For 42 years she worked for South Penn, Mid Continent and Alltel Telephone companies as an operator and teller. She was born November 4, 1912 in Dunkard Twp., Greene Co. to the late Isaac Purman and Asia Titus Moser. Mrs. Herrington was a member of the Mt. Morris Gospel Tabernacle Assembly of God. She was a former member of the Mt. Morris Senior Citizens. For 35 years she served on the Dunkard Twp. Election Board. For 12 1/2 years she worked for the University Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va. in the Dietary Dept. Mrs. Herrington enjoyed Farming, canning, quilting and was a homemaker. Her Husband: Frank M. Gladys Conklin Rose, 87 of Waynesburg, PA died at 1:55AM on Monday, October 20, 2003 in the Washignton Hospital, Washington , PA She was born Feb. 25.1916 in Waynesburg, PA Gladys was the Daughter of the late William O. and Blanche Jane Holmes Conklin. She spent most of her life in Greene Co. Mrs. Rose was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waynesburg where she was a member of the Tracy Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Emerald Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #135, East Franklin Grange #1709 having earned the 7th degee. She was also a member of the Pamona Grange and the State Grange having served on various Committees and holding several offices. She attended school in both W.Va. and PA She also attended the Penn Commercial College in Washington , PA Mrs. Rose was the first women President of the Womens Aux. of the former Civil Defense in Waynesburg.
