Helen (Galinac) Gyenes, 74, of Murrysville, formerly of Pittsburgh, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, in her loving home. She was born April 6, 1925, in Saltsburg, Pa., a daughter of the late Lawrence and Anna (Bedick) Galinac. She was a member of St. Mary's Church, Export. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers , Joe and John Galinac. Helen is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, John Gyenes; a son, John Gyenes of Pittsburgh; three daughters , Jean Frand of Penn Township, Bonnie Christophersen and husband, Chris, of Westport, Conn., and Doreen Brammell and husband, Rob, of Hilliard, Ohio; three brothers , Lawrence Galinac of Latrobe, William Galinac of Cleveland, Ohio, and Thomas Galinac of Mayfield Heights, Ohio; two sisters , Mary Weravetz and Dorothy Roeder, both of Arizona. In addition, Helen is survived by 14 loving and well-loved grandchildren, Joe, Lauren, Joshua, and Jared Frand, Brittany, Kelsey, Erik Christophersen, Robert, James, Zsuzsa and John Gyenes and Ashley, Carla and Leslie Brammell. WILLIAM C. ROACH
William C. Roach, 51, of Youngstown, Pa., died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, in the Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born Sept. 12, 1948, in Bellefonte, a son of William A. and Mary Margaret (Shirey) Roach of Youngstown. Bill was the Youngstown Borough manager, manager of the Youngstown Municipal Authority, and president of the Youngstown Borough Council. He was a life member of the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Youngstown Firemen's Social Club, the Baggaley Firemen's Club, the Hostetter Slovak Club, and the St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Youngstown. He was preceded in death by an uncle, Carl E. Shirey. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Tami L. (Vance) Roach, whom he married on May 3, 1986; his daughter, Miranda J. Roach at home; his brother, Brett A. Roach; and his sister, Susanne Roach, both of Youngstown; his Father and mother -in-law, Edgar and Carole Vance; and his brother-in-law, Gary Vance, all of Punxsutawney; his uncle, Warren Roach and his wife, Tanya, of Elkton, Md.; two nieces and four nephews. Friends will be received at the HARTMAN-GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe, from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be held Thursday at a time to be announced. Interment will follow in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Youngstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Department, Youngstown, PA 15696. Members of the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Department will hold services Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
RUSSELL N. VEVERKA
Russell N. Veverka, 87, of North Huntingdon, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, at his home. He was born Dec. 27, 1912, in Hahntown, a son of the late Frank and Mary Sistek Veverka. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a manager of the shipping department for the Serro-Scotty Trailer Factory, Arona. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior of North Huntingdon. He was a lifetime member of the F.O.E. Aerie 1671 of Irwin and the C.S.A. Lodge of Hahntown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Veverka. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Hazel Ingraham Veverka; a daughter, Norma and her husband, Richard Truxal, of Greensburg; three sons , Ronald and his wife, Roberta Veverka, of North Huntingdon, David and his wife, Paula Veverka, of Jeannette and Richard and his fiancee, Margie Taylor, of Irwin; six grandchildren, Paula Hildenbrand, Robert Veverka, Roni Ann Johnson and Jason, Steven and Chad Veverka; a sister, Gladys Popella of North Huntingdon; and a sister-in-law, Catherine Veverka of Fairmont. LLOYD KENNETH WHETZEL SR.
Lloyd Kenneth Whetzel Sr., 91, of Greensburg, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, in IHS of Greater Pittsburgh, Hempfield Township. He was born March 13, 1908, in Mt. Pleasant Township, a son of the late Lloyd S. and Naomi Ferguson Whetzel. He was a retired employee of the former ITE Plant in South Greensburg, and was a longtime member of the First United Church of Christ in Greensburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elda Brant Whetzel; two brothers , John Carl and Samuel Whetzel; and three sisters , Edna Larmer, Leona Yezek and Dorothy Lenard. Surviving are two sons , Lynn Richard Whetzel and wife, Betty, of Armbrust and Lloyd K. Whetzel Jr. and wife, Kathy, of Tampa, Fla.; a brother, Wilmer Whetzel of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Ruth W. Fink of Greensburg; and three grandchildren, Clint, Troy and Kit Whetzel. Friends will be received at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 N. Marie Houp Davey White , 87, of Greensburg, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, in St. Anne Home, Greensburg. She was born May 12, 1912, in Altoona, a daughter of the late Arnold and Elizabeth Shonter Houp. She was a member of St. Bruno's Catholic Church of South Greensburg. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a food service manager with the Hempfield Area School District. She was a member of the Greensburg Lioness and the Catholic daughters of America. Marie enjoyed playing cards and was a member of various card clubs. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two husbands, Thomas R. Davey and J. Guy White ; a son, Thomas R. Davey; and a brother, Arnold C. "Dutch" Houp. She is survived by a son, Terry A. Davey and his wife, Joan, of Greensburg; two daughters , Margaret A. Curry of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Elizabeth Jane Zumbro of Torrance, Calif.; five grandchildren, David, Dennis, and Dale Curry, Richard Zumbro, and Tiffany Davey; and a sister, Elizabeth Hanson and her husband, Ralph, of Greensburg. DAVID C. ANDERSON
David C. Anderson, 62, of North Huntingdon, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, in the UPMC Rehabilitation Institute of Pittsburgh. He was born Dec. 20, 1937, in Tracy, Minn., a son of Mina (Bender) Anderson Rodgers of Marshall, Minn., and the late Frank Anderson. He was retired as a registered respiratory therapist for the UPMC McKeesport Hospital. He was employed by Complete Home Care and Med-Max, both of Pittsburgh, and was also employed by Trombino Music Center in Westmoreland Mall. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Republican Club of North Huntingdon, McKeesport Sportsmen's Association, and a member of the Pennsylvania Society for Respiratory Care. In addition to his mother , he is survived by his wife of 21 years, Marcia Burchell Anderson; two daughters , Ashley Anderson at home and Mary Lysinger of New Jersey; a son, David W. Anderson of Arizona; three grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Kelling of Connecticut. Friends will be received at the JOSEPH F. THOMAS BRENNAN
Thomas Brennan, 78, of Las Vegas, Nev., died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000. He was born in Munhall, April 11, 1921. He was a retired mechanical engineer from Aerospace and was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in World War II. He was a member of the Elks and also had been a 27-year employee of Lockheed Missiles and Space. He lived in the Pittsburgh area for 34 years. Survived by his wife, Corrine Brennan; a daughter, Nora Tryon of Benicia, Calif.; a son, Dean Brennan of San Jose, Calif.; a sister, June Paddick of Torrance, Calif.; a brother, John Robert Brennan of Bullhead City, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation at PALM MORTUARY/CHEYENNE, Las Vegas, Nev., Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Service will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 1 p.m.

Anna K. Bureau, 68, of Derry, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, in the Loyalhanna Care Center, Derry Township. She was born Oct. 21, 1931, in Uniontown, a daughter of the late Frank and Katherine Malinak Rolniak. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers , Joseph and Frank. She is survived by her husband, Harry B. "Skippy" Bureau; three sisters , Katherine, Margaret and Mary Ann; and several nieces and nephews. LOUIE B. GAY
Louie B. "Lou" Gay, 67, of Honeybrook, Pa., formerly of Harrison City, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at her home. She was the wife of Charles W. Gay, with whom she shared 46 years of marriage. Born in Vernon, Texas , Lou was the daughter of Franklin Earl and Vera Phillips Burleson. She earned a B.S. in Biology from the University of New Mexico in 1958. She was a founding member and one of the first EMT volunteers for Medic One in Murrysville. She made dollhouses and was a founding member of the Augusta, Ga., Miniature Society. As a member of the Westmoreland County Obedience Training Club, she started a pet therapy program with her golden retriever, Brandy. Mrs. Gay and her husband spent the last four years traveling throughout the world. One of her favorite trips was a river cruise last spring entitled "Holland in Bloom." In addition to her husband, Mrs. Gay is survived by a son, Bruce E. Gay of North Wales; a daughter, Valerie G. Bowe of Honeybrook; a sister, Linda Campbell of Pacific Grove, Calif.; and four grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to her memorial service at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at the JAMES J. Virginia T. Hayne, 74, of Level Green, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, in Golden Heights Personal Care Home, Harrison City. She was born April 26, 1925, in Cokeville, a daughter of the late Frank Orr Thornburg and Wyona Clare Dixon Thornburg. Prior to retirement, she was employed as an outpatient clerk at Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Level Green United Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Hayne, in 1996.
