HENRIETTA B. HOKE
Henrietta B. Hoke, 85, of Greensburg, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, in the Hempfield Manor, Greensburg. She was born Feb. 3, 1915, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Leroy and Henrietta Blanche Hamm John. She was Protestant by faith. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William F. Hoke; a daughter, Blanche Bashioum; a brother, Leroy John; and a sister, Virginia Smith. She is survived by a son, William C. Hoke and his wife, Julie, of North Huntingdon; a daughter, Dorothy Bates of Greensburg; six grandchildren, Roman and James Bates, Chanta Kolick, Dolores Cholock, Meghan and Laura Hoke; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Wilbur L. John and his wife, Gail, of Bovard; and two sisters , Ella Marie Rauscher of Greensburg and Dorothy Eachus of Roanoke, Ala. Friends will be received at the BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Franklin Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Clair Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorials may be placed with the Alzheimer's Association, 1011 Old Salem Road, Greensburg.
ELINOR L. MATSON
Elinor L. Matson, 71, of Slickville, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at home. She was born May 20, 1928, in Blairsville, a daughter of the late Julian and Luella Newhouse Johnson. She was employed for 24 years as a ward supervisor at the Pennhurst State Hospital in Pottstown. She was Lutheran by faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer B. Matson, in 1993; by three brothers , Raymond, Ronald and George Johnson: and by a sister, Sarah Johnson. She is survived by two children, Linda M. and her husband, Joseph Elliott, and Larry E. and his wife, Cynthia Merich Matson, all of Slickville; two brothers , David Johnson and his wife, Georgeann, of Homer City, and Howard Johnson of Blairsville; four sisters , Helen Rhodes and her husband, David, of Blairsville, Alice Starry and her husband, Charles, of Derry, Carol Lutz and her husband, James, of Blairsville, and Betty Hutton of Derry; five grandchildren, Raymond W. Bair and his wife, Lisa, of Slickville, Carole Lynn Byrd of New Alexandria, Larry E. Matson Jr. and his wife, Cindy, of Bradenville, and Brian D. Matson and Danene A. Matson, both of Slickville; and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Matson's family will receive friends at the JOHN L. PAUL P. PROTENIC
Paul P. Protenic, 87, of Greensburg RD8 (Marguerite), died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born June 29, 1912, in Marguerite, a son of the late John Sr. and Susan (Gumbita) Protenic. Prior to retirement, he worked at American Bridge Company in Ambridge, and once worked for the former King brothers Coal & Coke Marguerite mine. He was a member and altar server of the St. Benedict Catholic Church, Marguerite, and was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army. He was also a member of the St. Benedict Holy Name Society, Jednota Branch #388 of Marguerite, the Oblates of St. Vincent Archabbey, U.M.W.A. Local #7951, U.S.W.A., Steelworker Retiree Club Local #1537, American Legion Post #515 of Latrobe, Charter Oak Retirees Bowling League, and A.A.R.P. Paul was also a life member of Marguerite Volunteer Fire Department, and member of the Westmoreland County and Western Pennsylvania Firemen's Associations. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son and seven brothers , John Jr., Michael, Frank, George, Andrew, Edward and Albert Protenic. He is survived by his wife, Ann S. (Forish) Protenic; two brothers , Joseph of El Paso, Texas , and Charles Protenic of Baden; two sisters , Mary Ann Ward and Margaret Wilkerson, both of Louisville, Ky.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the GAUT-BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., Pleasant Unity, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the St. Benedict Catholic Church, Marguerite, Monday at 9:30 a.m. with the Rev. Stephen R. Honeygosky, O.S.B., as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery, Unity Township.
JAMES E. REPPERT
James E. Reppert, 81, of Syracuse, N.Y., formerly of West Newton, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, in Syracuse. He was born in Buckhannon, W.Va. He was a personnel director for more than 22 years with the Transicold Division of the Carrier Corp., retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Rockefeller United Methodist Church, Syracuse, and had served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Blyth Lodge #593 F&AM, West Newton, and the Drumlins Country Club, Syracuse. He is survived by his wife, Joanne (Steiner) Reppert; a son, Bruce E. Reppert of Belleville, Ill.; a daughter, Holly R. Hunsberger of Arlington, Va.; a brother, Joseph Reppert of Baltimore, Md.; and four grandchildren. A committal service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the West Newton Cemetery. The J. WILLIAM McCAULEY JR. FUNERAL HOME INC., West Newton, is in charge of arrangements.
KARL K. SAURITCH
Karl K. "Kutcy" Sauritch, 70, of Charleroi, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, in Mon Valley Hospital. He was born June 29, 1929, in Charleroi, a son of the late John and Mary Hudi Sauritch. He was a member of Mary, mother of the Church Parish of Charleroi, Italia Unita Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 167, American Legion Post 1122 and the Elks Lodge 494, all of Charleroi. He was a former WPIAL basketball official, and a former coach of the Charleroi High School girls basketball team and the 5th and 6th grade boys teams. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean conflict, and was a retired sales representative for the Pittsburgh Brewing Co. Surviving are his wife, Lois Green Sauritch; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark and Patti Sauritch of Ivyland, Tim-Bo Sauritch of Fairless Hills, Kurt Sauritch of Monessen; two daughters , Carla Sauritch Withem of Los Angeles, Calif., and Susan Sauritch of Charleroi; a grandson, Drew Sauritch; a sister, Emma Biagini of Charleroi; and a brother, Raymond Sauritch of Cleveland, Ohio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers , Englebert, John, Herman and Louis Sauritch; and two sisters , Freda Sauritch and Hermina Wilson. Friends will be received in the CARL J. Ann Smith, 83, of Harrison City, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, in Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. She was born Jan. 9, 1917, in Yonkers, N.Y., a daughter of the late Michael and Catherine Drost Kachmor. She was a member of St. Barbara Church, Harrison City. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd E. Smith, in 1974; and three brothers , John, William, and Anthony Kachmor. She is survived by two sons , Lloyd G. Smith of Harrison City and Larry Smith of Jeannette; a daughter, Patricia Ann Smith of Harrison City; three brothers , Peter Kachmor of Harrison City, George Kachmor and Steve Kachmor, both of Jeannette; and a sister, Mary Kachmor of Harrison City; two grandchildren, Kristen Ann and Amy Jo; and two great-grandchildren, Devlin and Madeline. Friends will be received at the JAMES E. Catherine B. Cox Brown, 67, of North Huntingdon, formerly of Herminie, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at the home of her son in Uniontown. She was born Sept. 23, 1932, in North Braddock, a daughter of the late Andrew and Catherine Comer Cox. Prior to her retirement, she was a caregiver for Country Care Home Health. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Irwin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest W. Brown Sr., in 1991. Surviving are a son, Ernest Jr. and his wife, Sandra Brown, of Uniontown; a daughter, Barbara and her husband, Patrick Garase, of Finleyville; two grandchildren, Kyle and Paige Garase; two brothers , John Cox of North Braddock and Joseph Cox of Detroit, Mich.; and two sisters , Sarah Frame of North Huntingdon and Mary Bruce of Penn Hills. Anna Jane Burns, 83, of Derry RD1, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at her home. She was born July 19, 1916, in Derry, a daughter of the late Paul W. and Alice Baird Irwin. She was a member of the Derry First United Methodist Church. She was a former employee of the Derry Area School District working in New Derry and Bradenville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Howard Irwin; and a sister, Mabel I. Miller. Survived by her husband, William O. Burns; a son, William R. Burns of Latrobe; two brothers , Jack Irwin of Wilmot, Ohio, and Thomas Irwin of Latrobe; a grandson, Rhett C. Burns of San Diego, Calif.; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Dorothy Lou Harrold, 85, of Greensburg RD7, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Oct. 17, 1914, in Hempfield Township, the daughter of the late David F. and Olive Turney Thomas. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the YWCA, both of Greensburg. Surviving are her husband, Harry B. Harrold, to whom she was married for 65 years; a son, Randall L. Harrold and wife, Ann C., of Greensburg RD7; and grandsons, Scott T. of Idaho and Greg A. Virginia May "Scotty" Little, 90, of Jeannette, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at home. She was born Jan. 20, 1910, in Swissvale, a daughter of the late Charles and Florence Carr Little. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Shade and Novelty of Jeannette. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jeannette and the D.A.R. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Patton. She is survived by a sister, Beatrice Yoscak of Jeannette; numerous nieces and nephews; and a very good neighbor, Virginia Cerasa of Jeannette.
