Sylvia M. Hughes Minnich, 85, of Irwin, died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, in the Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. She was born April 11, 1915 in Chambersburg, a daughter of the late Ralph E. and Mildred E. Freet Hughes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph R. Minnich; a daughter, Juanita Marie "Dee" Dowling; two sons , Norman and Robert Minnich; two brothers , Norman and Ralph Hughes; and two sisters , Helen Fordyce and Mary Hughes. She is survived by two sons , Joseph R. Minnich of North Versailles and James R. Minnich of Irwin; three daughters , Joan Arthur of Irwin, Jacqueline R. Kovatch of Florida and Debra A. Shipman of North Carolina; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; two sisters , Patricia Chronister of Ohio and Jane Miller of Hagerstown, Md.; three brothers , Harold, Rhea and Theodore Hughes, all of Chambersburg; and nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at which time funeral service will be held in the funeral home with Dr. Merritt H. Edner officiating. Interment will follow in Long Run Cemetery, North Huntingdon.

Hazel I. Neatby
Formerly of West Newton

Hazel I. Neatby, 83, formerly of West Newton, died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, in the Baldock Health Care Centre, North Huntingdon. Born June 7, 1917, in West Newton, she was a daughter of the late Angelo and Verda Parker Celapino. She was a member of Gratztown Primitive Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Ralph Neatby and William E. Davis; and by a number of brothers and sisters . She is survived by two sons , William Davis and wife, Nancy, of West Newton and Ralph Neatby of Washington , Pa.; a granddaughter, Michele Maxwell and husband, Dave, of Pittsburgh; also a brother, Harry Celapino, and a sister, Jean Kalna, both of West Newton. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the J. WILLIAM McCAULEY JR. FUNERAL HOME INC., West Newton, where services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Donald Dalke officiating. Interment in West Newton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gratztown Primitive Methodist Church.

G. Thomas Picard

G. Thomas Picard, 78, of Oakwood, on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, following a brief illness. Beloved husband of Mildred A. Brother of the late Leo J. Jr. Loving uncle of Barbara Getty and Patti Figorski. Great-uncle of Jason and Jillian Figorski and Grant Getty. He retired from U.S. Steel after 35 years of service, and was a member of the Crafton Lodge #653 F&AM. No visitation. Interment is private. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements by BEINHAUERS, Dormont, (412) 531-4000. Helen Pellathy, 92, of Latrobe, formerly of New York, died peacefully Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, in the Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born April 22, 1908, in Hungary, a daughter of the late John and Ilona Sauer Somody. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stephan I. Pellathy. She is survived by a son, Gabriel Pellathy and his wife, Emoke, of Latrobe; a daughter, Judith Cipriani and her husband, Frank, of Kings Park, N.Y.; a brother, Ferenc Somody of Hungary; a sister, Klara Koppany of Germany; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Youngstown, Pa., with the Rev. Chad Ficorilli, O.S.B., as celebrant (PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH). Interment will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Long Island, N.Y.

Powlick. mother of Leonard Powlick of Columbus, Ohio, Bernadette Mendrula of Pittsburgh and Raymond J. Powlick of Tampa, Fla. Sister of the late Anna Tortorice, Marie Myers of Monessen, Verna Stevens, Irene Trevis, Sophie Kavlick and Paul Kmetz. Also survived by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. WEDNESDAY ONLY in the EDWARD P. KANAI FUNERAL HOME, 500 Greenfield Ave., Pittsburgh. She was born Jan. 28, 1914, in Detroit, Mich., a daughter of the late Lukas and Mary Ondrus Bolha. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Ravenna, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank S. Pytel; a son, Frank S. Pytel Jr.; a sister, Anna Zyvith; a brother, George Bolha; and a sister-in-law, Leona Bolha. She is survived by a son, John R. Pytel of Huntingdon Beach, Calif.; three daughters , Mary Ann and her husband, Jack Pavlik of Sun City, Calif., Margaret "Peggy" and her husband, Peter Hammond, of Greensburg and Helen L. and her husband, Rock Turner, of Ravenna, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers , John Bolha of Southwest Greensburg and Frank and his wife, Ann Bolha, of Greensburg; a sister, Agnes and her husband, Ned Freeland, of Mechanicsburg; a sister-in-law, Auggie Bolha of Greensburg; and several nieces and nephews. James Edward Regalski, 38, of Erie, formerly of Gibsonia, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, in the Harriot Medical Center, Erie. Born June 21, 1961, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late William E. and Audrey Marsico Regalski. He is survived by his sister, Jean Goycoolea of West Deer; his three brothers , Michael Regalski of Cranberry Twp., Steve Regalski of West Deer and William Regalski of Cheswick; and his two nephews. She attended the First Presbyterian Church, Youngwood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dick W. Rhea; and a brother, George Faust. She is survived by two sons , Dick W. Rhea Jr. and wife, Joyce, of Friedens, and Frank Rhea and wife, Candace, of Greensburg; a daughter, Mrs. Chas (Chris) Ridenour of Hunker; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a sister, Mrs. Calvin (Martha Jane) Train of Centerville, Va.; and a brother, Craig Faust and wife, Jean, of Greensburg. Friends will be received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the C. RICHARD McCAULEY FUNERAL HOME INC., Youngwood, where service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dennis Hoffman officiating. Interment Westmoreland Memorial Park, Hempfield Township.

Born June 10, 1944, in Bridgeville, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Irma (Delphus) Hergert. She is survived by three sons , Shawn, married to Becky Thomas, and Wade, married to Lanise Baidas, all of Minneapolis, Minn., and Brent of St. Paul, Minn.; two grandchildren, Lauren and Jacob; a brother, Louis Hergert of Huntsville, Ala.; and two sisters , Lydia Miller of Carnegie and Mary Heinrich of South Fayette. No visitation. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Westmoreland Manor chapel with Pastor Robert Ross officiating. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth Super; Father of Albert J., Donald and John; brother of Agnes Venus, Rose Hecht, Marie O'Black, Rita Brethaur and the late Frank and Louis Super. Also survived by nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
