Mary D. Pytel, 86, of Streetsboro, Ohio, formerly of Bovard, died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, in the Maplewood Care Center, Streetsboro. She was born Jan. 28, 1914, in Detroit, Mich., a daughter of the late Lukas and Mary Ondrus Bolha. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Revenna, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank S. Pytel; a son, Frank S. Pytel Jr.; a sister, Anna Zyvith; a brother, George Bolha; and a sister-in-law, Leona Bolha. She is survived by a son, John R. Pytel of Huntingdon Beach, Calif.; three daughters , Mary Ann and her husband, Jack Pavlik of Sun City, Calif., Margaret "Peggy" and her husband, Peter Hammond, of Greensburg and Helen L. and her husband, Rock Turner, of Revenna, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers , John Bolha of Southwest Greensburg and Frank and his wife, Ann Bolha, of Greensburg; a sister, Agnes and her husband, Ned Freeland, of Mechanicsburg; a sister-in-law, Auggie Bolha of Greensburg; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Thursday from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the Assembly of God Church, Route 130 East, Jeannette, with the Rev. Paul D. Peternel officiating. Interment will follow in the Greensburg Catholic Cemetery, Hempfield Township. Garnet L. San Marco, 82, formerly of Wilkinsburg, on Monday, Sept. 18, 2000. Beloved wife of the late John. mother of Forest Stuart, Orvel and David Nutter. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Charles Francis Robert Shipton IV

Charles Francis Robert Shipton IV, 18, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, from injuries he received in a traffic accident. Born May 7, 1982 in Jeannette, he was the son of Charles Francis and Hillary J. Smith Shipton. He was a member of the Harmony-Zelienople United Methodist Church, where he was involved with the Club 180 Senior High Ministry and was a youth leader for the fifth- and sixth-grade Mini-JAM Ministry. During this past summer, he went on a missionary trip to West Virginia, where he was involved with World Servants Ministries and worked on homes and taught vacation Bible school. He was a June 2000 graduate of Seneca Valley High School. He worked for Popeye's Restaurants on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters , Carrie Ann Waldroup and her husband, Mark, of Kent, Ohio, and Brandy Danielle McKerahan and her husband, Donald, of Cleveland; and his paternal grandparents, Carrie Frances and Charles Francis Shipton Jr. of Hubbard, Ohio. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Harmony-Zelienople United Methodist Church, Zelienople. The Rev. John W. Seth, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's Reformed Church Cemetery, Zelienople. Arrangements are by BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, Zelienople.

Leonard D. Stankiewicz, 60, of Chestnut Street, Indiana, Pa., formerly of Everson, died Sunday afternoon, Sept. 17, 2000, in Indiana Hospital. He was born May 12, 1940, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late Raymond J. Stankiewicz (who died June 8, 1987) and Sarah L. Skilone Stankiewicz (who died Feb. 21, 1982). Leonard was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Everson, and a 1958 graduate of Scottdale High School. He was a former employee of the May Company, Cleveland, Ohio. Leonard is survived by his two devoted brothers and sisters -in-law, Raymond J. Stankiewicz Jr. and his wife, Marlene (Nebesny), of Indiana, Pa., Kenneth E. Stankiewicz and his wife, Cheri (Slonecker), of Scottdale; an aunt, Sister M. Imelda Stankiewicz, S.H.G., of Pittsburgh; three nieces and a nephew; a daughter, Debbie; and a son, David. Leonard's family will receive friends in the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 W. Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by his Funeral Mass at 1O a.m. in St. Joseph R.C. Church, Everson. Interment will follow in St. Joseph R.C. Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Leonard's family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory.

Willis L. Witherite, 84, of Greensburg, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Jan. 4, 1916, in Connellsville, a son of the late Willis A. and Cora Jane Shawley Witherite. Prior to his retirement in 1981, he had been employed by the former Hagan Ice Cream and Milk Co. of Uniontown, later by Country Belle Co-operative Farms and lastly by the Fayette Frozen Foods of Uniontown. During his employment, he had managed dairy stores in Waynesburg and Brownsville, Pa., and also in Fairmont and Morgantown, W.Va. Willis was active in his community by volunteering as the Director of Business Development with the former Go Greensburg Community Development Corp.; he had volunteered with the Meals-on-Wheels, making deliveries in Pleasant Unity for many years. He was very active and founded the AARP Chapter No. 3897 and served as its first president. He also was one of the founders of AARP Chapter No. 4729, and had actively volunteered with Operation Santa Claus since its inception. He was a member and former elder and deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg; Westmoreland Lodge No. 518 F&AM, Greensburg, and the A.A.S.R. Valley of Pittsburgh. Willis was a former member of the Greensburg Kiwanis Club. He is survived by his wife, Martha Downs Witherite; a son, Richard Lee Witherite and his wife, Linda, of Yoakum, Texas ; two daughters , Kathryn Jane Gazze and her husband, Edward, of Dover, Del., and Carole Ann Hayden and her husband, Dale, of Wexford; eight grandchildren, Amy and Michael Witherite, Kristen Dungan, Chris, Kimberly and Rebecca Gazze and Nicole and Mark Hayden; two great-grandchildren, Rachel and Madeline Dungan; and a sister, Mabel Witherite Uber of Sarver. Friends will be received at the BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, Greensburg, with the Rev. James H. Nash officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenridge Memorial Park, Connellsville. Should friends desire, memorials may be placed with either Redstone Highlands, 6 Garden Center Drive, Greensburg or the First Presbyterian Church, 300 S. Main St., Greensburg. Charles "Chuck" Alinsky, 84, died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, in Manor Care, Jersey Shore, N.J. Born April 19, 1916, in Pittsburgh, he was the daughter of the late Charles and Frances Kopovich Alinsky. Mr. Alinsky was a carpenter for Local Union 142 for fifty years. Survivors include nieces and nephews, great- nieces and nephews, great-great- nieces and nephews and his caregivers and friends, Stevie Miller and family of DuBois, Pa. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Alinsky, and three sisters , Josephine Zeiler, Ann Gerbec and Julia Sistek. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the H.P. BRANDT FUNERAL HOME INC., 1032 Perry Highway, Ross. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, in St. Teresa of Avila Roman Catholic Church, Ross. Burial will be in the Lithuanian Cemetery, Ross.

Eugene J. Bernesser, 75, died Sept. 17, 2000, at his home. Born Oct. 10, 1924, in Shaler, he was the son of the late Edna and Raymond Bernesser. Mr. Bernesser honorably served his country for 11 years. He was a lieutenant in the Army Air Corps during World War II and a sergeant in the Army during the
Korean War. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the Regina Elena Club in Sharpsburg; and the Orpheus Singing Society in Lawrenceville. He was a former member of the Madonna of Jerusalem Roman Catholic Church, Sharpsburg. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Bernesser; two sons , Kenneth Bernesser of Bellevue and Barry Bernesser of Alabama; four daughters , Linda Winters of Sharpsburg, Kimberly Risnear of Kentucky, Michelle Bernesser of Butler and Eugenia Nawojski of Shaler; four brothers , Don Bernesser, Ray "Sonny" Bernesser, Paul Bernesser and Robert Bernesser; three sisters , Jeanie Harkiewicz, Patty Ruby and Edna Mae Thomas; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Private family services were in Saraland, Ala. Local arrangements are by WORRELL FUNERAL HOME, Sharpsburg.

Thomas F. Bishop, 68, of New Alexandria, passed away Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, in Allegheny General Hospital, North Side. He was born Feb. 16, 1932, in Duquesne, a son of the late Frederick R. and Rose Ella Noel Bishop. He served with the U.S. Army in Korea. He retired from the Gulf Oil Corp., where he was plant operator, after 41 years of service. He was of the Catholic faith. He was a member of the New Alexandria Lions Club, where he was past president, a life member of the New Alexandria Fire Department #77, where he was chaplain and a former trustee, and a member of the B.P.O.E. #907 of Latrobe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marian Bishop Rodgers. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary Ann Hanrahan Bishop of New Alexandria; three children, Beth Bishop Mongelluzzo of Delmont, John F. "Jack" and wife, Heidi, of Pickerington, Ohio and James T. "Jim" of New York, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Danielle, Anthony and Vincent Mongelluzzo, Bryce and Cameron Bishop; and a sister, Nancy Bloom of Trafford. Friends received Tuesday 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, Corner of Church and Washington streets, New Alexandria, where services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Terry J. Carnahan, pastor of the Community United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park Inc., Delmont.
