Albert L. Hilger, 98, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, in Windsor Place Nursing Home, Ross. Born Oct. 11, 1901 in Beaver, he was the son of the late Michael and Maryann Roziewicz Hilger. Mr. Hilger was a retired sign painter for Joseph Horne Co. Survivors include two sons , Milton A. Hilger of Baltimore and Albert L. Hilger of New Haven, Conn.; a daughter, JoEllen Duckett of West View; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Bronakoski Hilger; a son, William J. Hilger; and a sister, Sabina Walsh. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in T.B. DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 806 Perry Highway, Ross. Marvin John Kabo, 66, died on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000. He was manager of Facilities Engineering and Operation Energy Systems Basic Unit of Westinghouse Electric. He was a member and past president of American Institute of Plant Engineers, Pittsburgh Chapter 7 and a certified plant engineer. He was a real estate agent for Northwood Realty. He was a former captain of the U.S. Army, and a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He graduated of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, with a BASE Degree. He was the son of Margaret (Novacek) Kabo and the late John Patrick Kabo; husband of Patricia Ann (Novak) Kabo of West Mifflin; Father of Sharon Bich of West Mifflin, Jean Bujdos of Munhall and John Kabo of Heath, Ohio; brother of Jacqueline Zugar, Barbara Roussel, Dr. Robert Kabo, Gerald Kabo and James Kabo; and grandfather of Andrew Bich, Amanda Bich, Katie Bujdos and Tyler Kabo. Friends were received Sunday and Monday in GEORGE IRVIN GREEN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3511 Main St., Munhall. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Resurrection Roman Catholic Church, West Mifflin.

Anna Lois Kellams, 87, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000 in UPMC Passavant, McCandless. Born Jan. 8, 1913, in French Lick, Ind., to the late William F. and Stella Blanche Campbell Robbins. Mrs. Kellams graduated from French Lick High School in Indiana. She was a homemaker and worked for the Hampton Township Schools as a cafeteria worker for 13 years. Mrs. Kellams was a member of the Hampton Township Presbyterian Church and was a former children's Sunday school teacher and a former deacon at the church. Survivors include a son, Dr. Samuel Kellams of Charlottesville, S.C.; three daughters , Sue Gittings of Taylors, S.C., Freda Mitchem of Chevy Chase, Md., and Carol Clark of Richland; three brothers , Robert Robbins, Jack Robbins and Arthur Robbins, all of Indiana; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred L. Kellams; and three brothers , Woodrow Robbins, Carl Robbins and Paul Robbins. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in HERBERT R. KING JR. FUNERAL HOME, Route 8 at 2841 Woodland Circle, Hampton. Stella Klein, 93, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, in Orleans County Nursing Home, Albion, N.Y. Born April 14, 1907 in Poland, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Sophie Staniszewska Lignowski. She was the beloved wife of the late Elmer P. Klein and the mother of Louis Szymanski and his wife, Judith, of New York. Three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive. Agnes L. Kuchar, 77, of West Newton, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, at her home. She was born July 9, 1923, in Gratztown, a daughter of the late George and Mary Farmer Perry. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, John Kuchar Jr.; two daughters , Darla Smarra and husband, Dennis, and Pamla Bryner and husband, James, all of West Newton; four grandchildren, Dennis Smarra Jr., of Arizona, Eric Bryner of Pittsburgh, Darcy Szymkiewicz of West Newton and Tammy Bryner of Belle Vernon; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers , Raymond of Lowber and Russell of Gratztown; and a sister, Dorothy Zurawski of West Newton. Sarah M. Messner, 91, of West Newton, died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, in the Jeannette District Memorial Hospital, Jeannette, Pa. She was born Oct. 3, 1908 in Softia, Syria, a daughter of the late Mike and Anna Hanna Dave. She was a member of the West Newton United Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Noland Messner, in 1956; two brothers , Samuel and Charles Dave; and a sister, Catherine Leasure. She is survived by two sons , Melvin Messner of Herminie and Thomas Messner of Ariz.; a daughter, Dorothy Come of McKeesport; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters , Helen Gara of West Newton and Anne Jordan of Youngwood; and two brothers , Phil Dave of West Newton and John Dave of Pittsburgh. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Oswald was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, William Oswald; a daughter, Joan Siford of Hampton; a son, William Oswald of Pleasantville; a brother; Jack Hughes of Green Tree; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. G. Thomas Picard, 78, of Oakwood, on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, following a brief illness. Beloved husband of Mildred A.; brother of the late Leo J. Jr.; loving uncle of Barbara Getty and Patti Figorski; great-uncle of Jason and Jillian Figorski and Grant Getty. He retired from U.S. Steel after 35 years of service and was a member of the Crafton Lodge #653 F&AM. No visitation. Interment is private. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Phyllis E. Porter, 60, of Scottdale RD1, passed away Monday afternoon, Sept. 18, 2000, at her home. Phyllis was born Aug. 8, 1940, in Charleroi, a daughter of Leeander and Betty Owens Barnes of Fayette City. She married James W. Porter on March 19, 1960. Phyllis was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, caring for her home and family. She was a graduate of Belle Vernon High School. Phyllis is survived by her loving family: her parents, Leeander and Betty Barnes; her husband of 40 years, James W.
