Jean O. Capes
Fox Chapel

Jean O. Capes, 85, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000 in Arden Courts. Born Feb. 24, 1915, in Sharpsburg, she was the daughter of the late Estella and Samuel B. Meyer Sr. Mrs. Capes was a bookkeeper for Glenshaw Glass Co. and worked at Union National Bank in the Investment Department. She was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. Survivors include a brother, James E. Meyer of Fox Chapel; and a sister, Grace Meyer Zimmerman of Kansas City, Mo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph S. Capes. Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday in BOCK FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Mt. Royal Blvd., Shaler. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in First English Lutheran Church, Sharpsburg, with the Rev. Kenneth Shuman presiding. Burial will be in Mt. Royal Cemetery, Shaler. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the American Heart Association.

Lucy (McElhaney) Caro
Coraopolis

Lucy (McElhaney) Caro, 78, of Coraopolis, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000. She was the wife of the late Frank Caro; mother of Richard of Center Twp., Ron of Pittsburgh and Patsy of Fairmont, W.Va.; and sister of May McElhaney Vater of South Hills, John McElhaney of McKees Rocks and the late Kitty Juba, Roseanna Murry and Bernard "Petey" McElhaney. Also survived by four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday in the ANTHONY J. SANVITO FUNERAL HOME INC., 1316 Fourth Avenue, Coraopolis, Family Owned and Operated Since 1936. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the local Alzheimer's Association.

Ellen Marie Clawson
Greensburg

Ellen Marie Clawson, 79, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, in Greensburg. She was born Sept. 17, 1920, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Louis and Ethel Buttyan Lemak. She had been a member of the Park Baptist Church in McKeesport. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry F. Clawson, in 1999. She is survived by her two daughters , Sherry Beaufort and her husband, Wilbert, and Deborah Rice and her husband, Oscar, all of Greensburg; brother, Albert Lemak of Illinois; sisters , Elizabeth Foote of Arizona and Ethel Knuth of West Chester, Pa.; and grandchildren, Lisa and Christina Beaufort and Nichole Smith. Friends will be received at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 N. Main St., Greensburg, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Services will be held at the funeral home Friday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Bryon Eisaman officiating. Interment will follow in William Penn Memorial Park. Terence L. Graft, funeral director, in charge of the arrangements.

Houston T. Force
Lower Burrell

Houston T. Force, 75, of Lower Burrell, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, in IHS at Mountain View, Unity Township. Born Aug. 7, 1925, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Hamlin D. and Kathleen Force. He had been a resident of Lower Burrell since 1970, and was a member of St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church. A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific, and was a member of the VFW in Lower Burrell. During his 31-year career with the Burrell School District, he served as principal at Upper Burrell School, assistant elementary supervisor, director of elementary education, and as principal of the Charles A. Huston Middle School. He was a graduate of St. Vincent Prep School and St. Vincent College and received a master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Force enjoyed reading, golf and working with stained glass. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Donnelly Force; and a daughter, Kathleen Hope Force. Surviving are two daughters , Jodey A. Menear and Mary Force, both of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Delphine K. O'Brien of New Jersey; a grandson; and a granddaughter. There will be no visitation. Friends are invited to a Christian Funeral Mass Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, Lower Burrell. Interment in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. Memorial contributions may be made to PTA, Stewart School, 2880 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, PA 15068. Arrangements by FRANK F. GIGLER FUNERAL HOME, Lower Burrell.

Anthony Gallo
Penn Hills

Anthony Gallo, 66, of Penn Hills, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000. She was the beloved husband of Margaret "Peggy" Nier Gallo of 45 years; dear Father of Anthony "Tony" Gallo of North Huntingdon, Ginny Young of Verona and Dale Gallo of Butler; beloved son of Virginia Gallo of Pittsburgh and the late Antonio Gallo; brother of Angelo Pennacchia of Verona and the late Marie Laush. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends and relatives may call BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME INC., 421 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 11 a.m. until parting prayers at noon Thursday. Christian Funeral Mass will follow at 12:30 p.m. in St. Irenaeus Catholic Church, Oakmont.

Albert H. Goucher
Middlesex

Albert H. Goucher, 78, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000 in Allegheny General Hospital, North Side. Born June 1, 1922, in Crafton, he was the son of the late Edwin L. and Jessie Schroth Goucher. Mr. Goucher was a retired union carpenter with Local 922. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Butler Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 249. Mr. Goucher was a Boy Scout leader for the Butler Boy Scouts, Moraine District Council member. He was a past volunteer for the Ingram Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include two sons , Thomas L. Goucher of Greensburg and Robert S. Goucher of Middlesex; two daughters , Marianne Loub of Cortland, Ohio, and Christine C. Murrman of Crafton; a sister, Lynn Goucher of Oil City; 11 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Marie Cunningham Goucher; and three brothers . Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday in SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME, 5864 Heckert Road, Richland. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Scott Township, with the Rev. Harvey Mozolak officiating. Burial will be in North Side Cemetery, Butler.

Robert H. Head Jr.

Robert H. Head Jr., 63, former resident of Baldwin Unit Mercy Group Home, went to his Lord early Tuesday morning on Sept. 12, 2000. He was preceded in death by his parents, Myrna O. Head and Robert H. Head Sr. He was the beloved brother of Phyllis (Barry) Rugg and William (Beverly) Head; close friend of Anne Lesko; and dear uncle to several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the GEORGE IRVIN GREEN FUNERAL HOME INC., 3511 Main St., Munhall. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.

Alfred J. Herzog

Alfred J. Herzog, on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000. Beloved husband of Anna Marie (Bisbey) Herzog; Father of Carrie A. Harr, David A., Kathleen M., Mark R., Timothy G. and Eric D. Herzog; and grandfather of Zachary, Alex, Emily and Jacob Herzog. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday in WM. SLATER & SONS INC., Virginia Avenue and Kearsarge Street, Mt. Washington . Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Bernard Church.

Theodore Hinkelman
North Huntingdon

Theodore Hinkelman, 77, of North Huntingdon, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, in the Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. He was born Nov. 21, 1922, in East Pittsburgh, a son of the late Albert and Wanda Winter Hinkelman. He was a retired industrial engineer for Westinghouse Electric Corp., East Pittsburgh, retiring in 1981 after 40 years of service, and was a member of the Westinghouse Clerks Association. He was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church, Irwin; a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Marines; a member of the VFW Post 781, Irwin; American Legion Post 344, Jeannette; and AMVETS Post 278. He was a member of the F.O.E. Aerie 1671, Irwin; a 50-year member of L.O.O.M. Lodge 236, Irwin; and a member of the Italian Miners Society. He was a member of Shidle Lodge 601 Free and Accepted Masons; the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Pittsburgh; and the Syria Temple. He was also a social member of the Hartford Heights and Fairmont-Hahntown volunteer fire departments. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rita Zollner Hinkelman; a sister, Elsie Corletti; and three brothers , Otto, Bernard and Richard Hinkelman. He is survived by his wife, Beulah Faust Coffman Truver Hinkelman; three sons , Theodore W. Hinkelman, Scott R. Hinkelman and his wife, Pandi, of Georgetown, Texas , and Eric A. Hinkelman and his wife, Connie, of Irwin; two grandchildren, Miranda and Derek Hinkelman; a brother, Frederick Hinkelman of Catonsville, Md.; and nieces and nephews. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. R. Bruce Maxwell officiating. Entombment will follow in Penn-Lincoln Memorial Park. Masonic service will be at 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Robert F. Hoover
Hutchinson

Robert F. "Bob" Hoover, 70, of Hutchinson, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000, at the Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 23, 1930, in Garrett, a son of the late Frank E. and Dorothy E. (Sterner) Hoover. Bob was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean conflict. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a truck driver with B&P Motor Express, Irwin, with 21 years of service. He was a member of Teamsters Local #30 and the Herminie United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Dean Hoover, in 1973. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Audrey (Yutzy) Hoover; a son, Timothy Hoover and his wife, Becky, of Greensburg; a daughter, Mrs. Nadene "Sue" and her husband, Terry Decker, of North Carolina; four grandchildren, Malia, Jessica, Tarin and Lakin. Bob also will be sadly missed by his "little buddy," Mitzy. Friends were received at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., Herminie, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service was held Wednesday at 9 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Carl Ritenour officiating. Additional visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 3 p.m., the time of service, in the Garrett United Methodist Church with Mr. David Klink officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Rockwood Cemetery, Somerset.

Cynthia L. Jarnot
Latrobe

Cynthia L. "Cindy" Jarnot, 45, of Latrobe, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, in Latrobe Area Hospital. Born in Wilkinsburg, Oct. 6, 1954, she was the daughter of Clair Byerly Sr. and Elizabeth "Betty" Stofko Byerly of Harrison City. She was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church. She had been employed as a manager by Fashion Bug. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Michael Jarnot; a daughter, Kristin Nicole Jarnot at home; and a brother, Clair "Pat" Byerly Jr. of Harrison City. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Latrobe. Interment in St. Vincent Cemetery, Unity Township. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the LAH Charitable Foundation, Breast Cancer Research, in memory of Cindy L. Jarnot, 121 W. Second Ave., Latrobe, PA 15650.

Howard F. `Butch' Kimbel
Bellevue

Howard F. "Butch" Kimbel, 78, of Bellevue, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lorraine Johnson Kimbel, he is survived by loving children, Maribeth "Sis" Stefanik and her husband, Ernie, of Derry, Pa. and Timothy H. Kimbel and his wife, Diane, of McCandless; three grandchildren Kerri and John Stefanik and Timothy J. Kimbel; three great-grandchildren, Shaina, Tonya and Kiara Stefanik; and two sisters , Moni Born and Eleanor Donahoe, both of McKeesport. He was also preceded in death by two brothers , Robert C. and Joseph P. Kimbel; and two sisters , Carol A. and Elizabeth Kimbel. Mr Kimbel served with the U.S. Army in Europe and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He was employed as a tool and die setter for Wolverine for over 30 years until the company relocated. He later worked for Davies Can and Pittsburgh Mattress Co. He was a member of BPOE-McKees Rocks Lodge 1263. Friends invited from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday in the ORION C. PINKERTON FUNERAL HOME, INC., a Golden Rule Member Firm, 1014 California Avenue, Avalon, (North Boros) where a blessing service will be at noon on Saturday. Burial will be in Christ Our Redeemer (North Side) Catholic Cemetery, Ross Township. Memorials are suggested to the World War II Memorial Fund, American Battle Monuments Commission, P.O. Box 96074, Washington , D.C., 20090-6074.
