VELMA BUSH HAMILTON
Velma Bush Hamilton, 94, of Culver City, Calif., formerly of Greensburg RD4 (Trees Mills), died Saturday, March 11, 2000, in the Country Villa Mar Vista nursing home in Culver City (Los Angeles). She was born June 26, 1905, in Jeannette, a daughter of the late Reuben B. and Rosallie C. Neudorfer Bush. She was a lifelong member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Delmont, a past president of the Delmont Women's Club, and a former member of the Beaver Run Grange. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a regional sales manager for the World Book Encyclopedia Company. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Hamilton, in 1985; by a son, Dennis L. Hamilton, in 1999; and by five brothers , Charles L., F. Arthur, Lawrence C., W. Fred and Ralph H. Bush. She is survived by two sons , Gordon L. Hamilton and his wife, Marjorie [nee Duffack] of Manhattan Beach, Calif., and Brian K. Hamilton and his wife, Kaye [nee Frye] of Littleton, Colo.; a brother, J. Donald Bush and his wife, Zelda [nee Overly] of Delmont; a sister-in-law, Helen M. [nee Elliott] Bush of Titusville, Fla.; three grandsons and three granddaughters, Dorn Hamilton Miller, Linda Aschbrenner, Amy Kratzer and Tom Hamilton, and Sandra Holloway and Bruce Hamilton; and eight great-grandchildren. JOHN L. KNABENSHUE JR.
John L. Knabenshue Jr., 45, of Deltona, Fla., formerly of Connellsville, died suddenly Saturday, March 11, 2000, at his residence. He was born April 15, 1954, in Connellsville, a son of Edith L. Schroyer Knabenshue of Connellsville and the late John L. Knabenshue. He was employed at Sullivan's Dodge in DeLand, Fla., as an automotive technician. He was a graduate of Connellsville Area High School with the Class of 1972. He also attended Penn State Fayette Campus and McKeesport Campus, and Seminole Community College in Florida. He received an Associate's Degree of Science in Automotive Servicing Technology from Daytona Beach Community College, where he graduated with honors. He was a certified ASE Chrysler Technician. He belonged to the National Space Society and the Deltona Civic Association. John was a former member of the Central Methodist Church and the Central Fellowship Church in Connellsville. He is survived by his loving wife, Vicki Williams Knabenshue of Deltona, Fla., with whom he celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on Oct. 12, 1999. Also surviving are his mother , Edith L. Schroyer Knabenshue of Connellsville; three sisters , Carol L. George and her husband, Larry, of Hopwood, Linda S. Hummel and her husband, Larry, of Sumter, S.C., and Darlene R. Lengel of North Huntingdon; his mother -in-law, LaRue Morris of Connellsville; a sister-in-law, Gloria Henderson and her husband, William, of Mt. Pleasant RD6; and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his Father , he was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Louis G. and Margaret Schroyer; his paternal grandparents, Benjamin and Eva Knabenshue; three uncles; and an aunt. Green St., Connellsville, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Byron Tate Fulton officiating. ROSE (KRAJACK) MEDIC
Rose (Krajack) Medic, 81, of North Huntingdon, died Monday, March 13, 2000, in North Huntingdon. She was born April 27, 1918, in Port Vue, a daughter of the late Mike and Dora (Kraal) Krajack. She was a member of Holy Ascension Serbian Orthodox Church in Youngwood, Croatian Fraternal Union and the Serbian National Federation Lodge 64 in Biddle. She participated in the daily operations of the Medic Farm for several years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Medic Sr.; and three brothers , Joseph, George and Michael Krajack. Survived by a son, Daniel Medic Jr., D.O., and wife, Julie, of Greensburg; a daughter, Emily (Medic) Garcia and husband, Carlos, of Johnstown; a sister, Dorothy Klasnic of Port Vue; and five granddaughters, Laura Garcia, Gabrielle Garcia, Katelyn Medic, Chelsea Medic and Natalie Medic. Friends will be received at the VINCENT V. RODGERS FUNERAL HOME, 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Very Rev. CHARLES E. MENOZZI
Charles E. Menozzi, 85, of Latrobe, died Monday, March 13, 2000, in the Loyalhanna Care Center, Derry Township. Born Nov. 10, 1914, in Lloydsville, he was the son of the late Charles P. and Barbara A. Depetris Menozzi. He was a 1932 graduate of Latrobe High School and a 1936 graduate and class valedictorian of St. Vincent College. He had formerly been employed by the Latrobe Tool Company, Westinghouse, Derry, and Latrobe Die Casting Co. He retired from the Stupakoff-Carborundum Co., Latrobe, in 1982, where he had served in the capacity of engineer, office manager, purchasing agent and assistant plant manager. He had been an organizer of the Latrobe Chapter of Toastmasters, and had been a recipient of the Best Speaker Award out of 4,900 Toastmasters. He was a member of the B.P.O.E. #907, Latrobe, and was also a past Exalted Ruler in 1956. He was also a member of the Latrobe Art Club, St. Vincent College Guardian Society and Holy Family Church, Latrobe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Coleman Menozzi, whom he married in 1945; and a sister, Ada Menozzi Maghrak. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Mona Lake of Lawrenceville, Ga.; and three nephews, Tommy Shearer, Edwin Lake and Brian Lake. There are no public visitations. Services and interment were private. JOSEPH J. MILLER
Joseph J. Miller, 77, of Level Green, died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, in the ManorCare Health Services, Monroeville. He was born March 2, 1923, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late James and Rose Mary Schaeffer Miller. He was a member of the St. Regis Church in Trafford and a former member of the North Irwin Fire Department. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six sisters . He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Martha Raver Miller; three sons , Mark Miller of Penn Township, Joseph Miller of Pittsfield, Mass., and John Miller of Monroeville; a brother, James Miller of Pittsburgh; a sister, Rita Graham of Homestead; and eight grandchildren. JOHN D. ROCK
John D. Rock, 82, of Elizabeth Township, died Monday, March 13, 2000. He was born March 9, 1918, in Glassport, a son of the late Dominic and Katherine Rock. He was the retired superintendent for signals and communication for the P&LE Railroad. He was a member of St. Patrick Church, the Association of American Railroaders and the Eastern Signal Engineers. Surviving are his wife, Lottie Clement Rock; three sons , John of New Cumberland, W.Va., David of Greenville, S.C., and Robert of Palm Springs, Calif.; and five grandchildren. RALPH LESLIE SALTZMAN
Ralph Leslie Saltzman, 80, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, at Redstone Highlands, Greensburg. He was born March 2, 1920, in Hempfield Township, a son of the late Ralph E. and Mary E. Schooley Saltzman. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Gould-Brown-Boveri Co., South Greensburg. He was also a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy as a radar operator in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg, BBC Veterans Association, member and past master of Westmoreland Lodge #518 F&AM, Greensburg, and a former member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Coudersport. Also a member of the American Legion Post #981 of South Greensburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul E. Saltzman, who was killed during World War II in Germany. He is survived by his wife, Frances Jane Soles Saltzman; two brothers , William E. Saltzman of Dublin, Calif., and Melvin L. Saltzman of Ligonier; four sisters , Mrs. Merinda Pierce of Greensburg, Mrs. Sarah Bishop of Jeannette, Mrs. Mary Wescott of Lakeland, Fla., and Mrs. Elma Jean Scrimale of Brodheadsville, Pa.; and a number of nieces and nephews. MILES ANGELO
Miles "Mousie" Angelo, 80, of Ruffsdale, died Monday, March 13, 2000, in the Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. He was born Nov. 3, 1919, in Lake Lynn, Pa., a son of the late Giacondo and Phillamenia (Coletti) Angelo. Miles "Mousie" was the owner and operator of Angelo Cigarette Service in Smithton for 55 years. Miles "Mousie" was also a charter member of the B.P.O.E. 777 Elks of Scottdale, a charter member of the Smithton Lions Club, and also a longtime member of both the Smithton Volunteer Fire Department, and the Marconi Club in Smithton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane (Higby) Angelo; a brother, Otto Angelo; and three sisters , Elizabeth Cordi, Mary Paglairi, and Gilda Verdi. He is survived by his wife, Helen (Odelli) Angelo; a son, James Miles Angelo of Belle Vernon; stepson, Terrance R. Odelli and his wife, Debbie, of Smithton; a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Judith) May of Sutersville; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Jack (Marlene) Fabean of Smithton; a brother, Anthony Angelo of Buena Vista; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy J. Patterson Ayres, 68, of North Huntingdon, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, in the Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. She was born March 25, 1931, in Wilkinsburg, a daughter of the late James and Dorothy Eaglen Patterson. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Irwin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Larry D. Ayres; and two grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, William J. Ayres; three sons , James E. Ayres of North Huntingdon, William J. Ayres Jr. of Jeannette, and Gerald T. "Jerry" Ayres of Pleasant Hills; a daughter, Kathy J. Ayres of North Huntingdon; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a sister, Nancy Bergman of North Huntingdon. Elmer E. "Bud" Brown, 75, of Greensburg RD5, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at home. He was born Aug. 21, 1924, in Greensburg, a son of the late Israel S. and Jessie E. Pluck Brown. He was retired from Latrobe Steel with 26 ½ years of service. He was a member of St. Bruno Church and the American Legion Post 981, both of South Greensburg, and Moose Lodge 1151 and VFW Post 33, both of Greensburg. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Battery C 331st Field Artillery Battalion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Shawn Israel Brown, of his second marriage; eight brothers , William, Charles, James, George, Jacob, Harry, Robert, and Raymond Brown; three sisters , Mary Shipley, Dorothy Head, and Florence Telford; and his first wife, Bridget Vid Brown. He is survived by his wife, Eva Mazzagatti Brown; six children, the Rev. Phyllis Joan Brown, and Roxanne McCarthy and husband, John, all of Greensburg, Kerry Brown and wife, Cathy, of Mt.
