Robert Devine

Robert Devine, 76, of Bethel Park, died Aug. 22, 2007, at Mt. Vernon of South Park.
Born Jan. 28, 1931, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Eleanor Devine Burzynski and Edward Devine and step-father Robert Burzynski.
Mr. Devine was the former owner of Custom Heating Company in the South Hills until he retired after 35 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley O'Toole Devine; his daughter, Susan (Bruce) Lippman and son David (Diane) Devine; brother of the late Doris Welsbacher; four beloved granddaughters, Tammy and Rebecca Lippman and Leslie and Stephanie Devine.
Interment is in Jefferson Memorial Park.

Paula Bash, 53, of Walled Lake, Mich., formerly of Whitehall, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007.
She was the sister of Gary (Regina) Bash; aunt of Dan and Christina Bash; and daughter of the late Samuel and Wilma Jean Bash.

Carmen D'Abruzzo
Born in Italy
Carmen John D'Abruzzo, 63, of Baldwin Borough, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007, at the VA Medical Center.
Born in Sant'-Angelo del Pesco, Italy, Mr. D'Abruzzo, along with his family, came to America in 1957.
He is the son of Nicollete D'Abruzzo and the late Louis D'Abruzzo; father of Steph-anie Ann (Craig) D'Abruzzo Shemin and Diana Lynn D'Abruzzo; brother of John (Donna), Joseph (Marilyn), Elisabeth (Ron) Gottus, Louis (Pamela), Michael (Carol), and Maria (Bernard) Rohe; uncle of Gabriel, Johnny, Tony, Martha and Katie Beth.
Mr. D'Abruzzo fought in the Vietnam War and was an insurance broker for years.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Gabriel of The Sorrowful Virgin Church.

Gregory Smith

Gregory Smith of Baldwin Borough died Monday, Aug. 27, 2007.
He was the brother of Carole Smith, Kimberly Yule and Timothy Smith; and son of Joan and the late William Smith.
He also is survived by nieces Courtney Giel and Samantha Yule and nephew Tyler Yule.

Dorothy Van Wassen

Dorothy Van Wassen, 87, of Baldwin Borough, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2007.
She was the beloved wife of Henry for 63 years; loving mother of Robert (Kim), Philip (Ann), David (Kathy) Van Wassen, Mary (Ray-mond) Roberge and the late Mark Van Wassen; devoted grandmother of Beth (Jack), Abby, Alex, Jeff (Melissa), Julie, Matt, Krista, Marc and Celeste; proud great-grandmother of John; dear sister of Robert and the late Joseph, Charles, James, William, Lawrence and Paul Irr; and daughter of the late Mary and Charles Irr.
Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church. Interment in Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Catholic Charities, 212 Ninth Ave., Pittsburgh, 15222. Arrangements handled by Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home.
Dr. John L. Happel, Sr.

Dr. John L. Happel Sr., 2010 of Whitehall Borough, died April 22, 2010.
Dr. Happel was formerly the president of the medical staff and chief of surgery at South Side Hospital for many years.
He was the husband of the late Olga Happel; father of Dr. John L. (Niki) Happel Jr., Hugh C. (Colleen) Happel, Jess Happel and Mary Beth (Bruce) Bavitz; grandfather of Sean, Kevin, Aja, Rhet, Lauren, Melissa and Kyle; brother of the late Peg Davis and Bill Happel. He also is survived by nieces and nephews.

Vivian F. Gabris, formerly of Brentwood Borough, died April 19, 2010.
She was the wife of the late William Gabris; mother of Danette and Francine; grandmother of Jeremy, Joshua, Matthew, Luke and Michael; sister of Lois Kendrix, Shirley Koslow, Ronald Frey and the late Fred Frey and Audrey Smith. She also is survived by nieces, nephews and one great-grandchild.

Jacquelyn A. Grebner, 73, of Whitehall, died April 20, 2010.
She was the wife of Ronald W. Grebner for 55 years; mother of Shelley (Dave) Muner, Ronald W. Jr., Randall (Karen), Lesley (Ross) Maola and the late Kimberly; daughter of the late George and Kathryn Preisinger; sister of George (Diane) Preisinger; sister-in-law of Marlene (the late Harry) Vogt and Nancy (the late Buzzy) Buzzatto. She also is survived by 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
