Isabelle Shatlock
Home economics teacher for Pittsburgh Public Schools
Isabelle Arch Shatlock, 85, of Whitehall, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008.
She was a wife of 56 years to the late Eugene Shatlock Sr., who died Dec. 23, 2002.
She was the mother of Isabelle and Frank Wieczorek of Whitehall, Susan and David DiTommaso of Rockville, Md., Paul and Nancy Shatlock of Mansfield, Ohio and Eugene and Joanne Shatlock of Atlanta, Ga. She was grandmother of Julianne and Gina DiTommaso, Melissa (Angel) and Ashlee Beckett, Paul and Lauren Shatlock, Gene III, Caitlyn and Will Shatlock.
She was born Aug. 24, 1922 in Moon Run Township to the late Dr. Francis and Isabelle Arch, the oldest of 12 children in the Arch Family of Perrysville Avenue on the North Side of Pittsburgh.
She was sister to Jeanne Connolly and aunt to many nieces and nephews.
She was a 1943 graduate of Carlow College and went on to become a home economics teacher in the Pittsburgh Public Schools. Shortly before retiring she enjoyed teaching food service to young adults at the Connolly Vocational School.
Mrs. Shatlock's greatest pleasures came from traveling with her husband and family on more than 25 cruises around the world and by talking on the phone with her grandchildren.
She was a devout Catholic and attended Holy Angels Church in Hays.

Marilyn "Mimsi" Lee, 67, of Baldwin Borough, formerly of the South Side, died Jan. 3, 2008.
She was the mother of David (Judith) Lee and Mauren Lee; grammy of David and Christopher Lee and Megan Odoski; also survived by brother Ronald (Sharon) Nichol and Gerald Lee.

Richard Lewis of Pleasant Hills died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008.
He was the husband of the late Ethel Jane (Rorabaugh); father of William Lewis of South Dakota; brother of Evers and Hope Lewis; friend of Karen, John and Justin Voytko.
Mr. Lewis was a 1938 graduate of Penn State and an active member of Pleasant Hills Presbyterian Church.

Walter Junker

Walter "Buddy" Junker Jr., 79, of Baldwin Borough, formerly of Knoxville, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2008.
He was the husband of the late Grace Turnbaugh Junker; father of Guy (Darla) Junker of Shaler; Kirk Junker of Baldwin; Janice (Doug) Skoretz of Penn Township; grandfather of Emilee, Dylan, Natalee, Autumn and Cole; brother of the late Norma (Frank) Fowler. Also survived by nieces and nephews.
Mr. Junker was a Korean War Veteran, U.S. Army, and a member of the St. Wendelin Lyceum.

Irene (Hartman) Mutschler, 85, of Baldwin Borough, died Monday, May 12, 2008.
She was the wife of the late Matthew Mutschler and Fred Hartman; mother of Fred (Karen) Hartman, Paul (Barbara) Hartman, Jay (Debbie) Mutschler and the late Mary Ann (George) Lauman; sister of Nicholas Goedert and the late Master Sgt. Paul Goedert, Delores Weitz and Mary Gorsuch; grandmother of George Lauman, Randy (Lyn) Lauman, Debbie (John) Symsek, Tammy (Mike) Johnston, Michele (Dave) McManus, Stacy (Grant) Glasier, Fred Hartman, Paul (Karen) Hartman, Douglas (Julie) Hartman, Elizabeth (Tom) Morian, Jeffrey (Jessica) Hartman, Rita and Matthew Mutschler.
She also is survived by 24 great-grandchildren.

Vincent Freund, formerly of Whitehall, died Sunday, May 11, 2008, in Bloomington, Ind.
He was the husband of the late Helen Freund; father of Suzanne Jean (Ernst) Haeublein of Schweinfurt, Germany, and Don (Sandra) Freund of Bloomington, Ind., and the late Vincent Freund Jr.; adopted father of the late Mary Denise Rensel; brother of Grace Bonistall of White Plains, N.Y., the late Albin Freund and Mary Alice Furman (formerly of Bethel Park); grandfather of John Vincent Freund, Kristin Murphy, Christina Kleiner, Renata Haeublein, Brigitta Krass, Stefan Freund and Dara Marie Stucker. Also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
Mr. Freund worked for 35 years in the insurance business as a special agent. Devoted to his wife and family, he was also a dedicated parishioner of St. Gabriel Church, serving as a lector and contributing his rich voice to the choir.

Franklin Hobby, 87, of Whitehall died May 14, 2008.
He was the husband of Jean (Bowen) Hobby; father of Patty (Adam) Corcoran and Susan Parks; grandfather of Tricia (David) Timko, Tracy Humphreys, Jennifer, Stefanie and Erica Parks; great-grandfather of Samantha, Taylor, Dominic, Nikki and Mia.
Mr. Hobby was a Pitt band member and alumni. He also worked for almost 30 years for ALCOA.
