James Rambo
Avid hunter
James Rambo of Whitehall, formerly of Hopwood, Pa., died Thursday, June 5, 2008.
He was the husband of Janis (Emory); father of Kim (Aaron) Beatty and Jimmy; lovingly known as "Pappy Jim" to Maya and A.J. Beatty; son of Jean (George) Mt Joy; and the late Laverne Rambo; brother of Mark (Rose) Rambo, Jeff Rambo and Linda Denny; son-in-law of Marjorie Emory and the late Charles; brother-in-law of Tim Emory, Lee (Mark) Latorre, Kris (Jim) Burns. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mr. Rambo was a graduate of Laurel Highlands High School in 1968 and a member of the 1968 Basketball State Champion Team. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsmen, and an enthusiastic sports fan. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army (military police) serving in Germany from 1972-1974. He retired from AT&T after 32 years.

Carl Winer Jr., 75, of Brentwood, died Wednesday, June 4, 2008.
He was the husband of the late Bernadette Winer; father of Carl, William, David, Richard and Barbara Winer. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Helen Hinkel.

Rosalinda D'Orazio
Born in Italy
Rosalinda D'Orazio, 81, of Jefferson Hills, formerly of Donora, died Thursday, June 5, 2008, after a short battle with cancer.
She was born May 26, 1927, in Torre dei Passeri, Italy. She is preceded in death by her parents, Grazia and Nicola DiMatteo. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Pio D'Orazio; children Paul (Peggy) D'Orazio of Massachusetts, Sue (Ed) Generazio of Virginia, Grace (Steve) Sherman of Jefferson Hills and Robert (Lisa) D'Orazio of Mt. Lebanon; sister Velia DiPietro of Quincy, Mass.; nephews Vince and Nick DiPietro; grandchildren Amy D'Orazio, Rose and Eddie Generazio, Nicholas, Alex, Dean and Andrew Sherman, Michael, Vincent and Emma D'Orazio.
The family would like to thank Lauretta Gardner, Katie Fulton and Carol Warnes for their love and support.

Mary Jo Stefanakis, 51, of Baldwin Borough, died Friday, June 6, 2008.
She was the wife of Ron Stefanakis; mom of Jaime (David) Petrosky and Jessica (Armand) Martin; nana of Zachary and Taylor Martin; sister of Janet (Ken) Malle and the late Linda (Joe) Knapick; preceded in death by her parents Stanley and Vivian Szewczyk.

literary society's oldest member
John Joseph "Kid" Vodzak, 93, of Baldwin Borough, died Monday, May 19, 2008.
He was the husband of 70 years to Catherine (Booritch); father of John (Carol), Jerome (Geraldine) and Charlotte (Jess) Jesensky; brother of Edward, Irene Kusmira, Robert and Anna Mae Arch.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
He was grandfather of 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Mr. Vodzak was the oldest member of the John Kollar Slovak Literary and Library Society, where he once served as president, and was also a member of the Slovak Catholic Sokol Club.

Grace (Alberth) Smith, 88, of Brentwood, died Sunday, May 18, 2008.
She was the wife of the late Victor; mother of Emilie (Bernard) Crosby, Nancy Sirko, Fr. William Smith C.S. Sp., and Gregory (Ann) Smith; preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters; grandmother of nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Also survived by two nieces, two great-nieces and two great-nephews.
Mrs. Smith was a sales associate for Joseph Horne Co. in Brentwood for many years.

John Schrecengost Jr., 51, of Brentwood, formerly of South Side, died Monday, May 19, 2008.
He was the father of Melissa (Michael) McMeans; stepfather of Bobbie, Michael, Steven, Tina and Theresa Michalski; grandfather of Ethan and Justin McMeans; son of the late John and Elsie Schrecengost; brother of Deborah Frederick, Diane Silliman, Irene and Michelle Schrecengost.
Also survived by nieces, nephews and very special love, Michelle "Miki" Tokar.

James Christopher, 83, of Baldwin Borough, died Monday, May 19, 2008.
He was the husband of the late Doris Christopher; father of James Jr. (Charlotte) Christopher, Donna Christopher, Bruce (Nancy) Christopher and Joyce (Mark) Skokut; brother of Jesse Malkus, Walter "Frank" Christopher, Thomas Christopher and the late Mary Keicher, Neil Christopher and David "Glenn" Christopher.
He also is survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Christopher was a longtime South Hills building contractor who was co-owner of Christopher Brothers with his brother Frank.
