Joseph Somarcik

Joseph Michael Somarcik, 89, of Baldwin Borough, formerly of Pittsburgh's South Side, died Feb. 16, 2011, surrounded by his family.
He is survived by a sister, Mary (Somarcik) Kelly; and nieces and nephews, Rick, Debi, Ken and Jim Kelly. He also is survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, John and Sophie Somarcik.
Friends were received at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Inc., Pleasant Hills. Interment was at Jefferson Memorial Park.
Sr. Mary Joachim Blosl
School teacher
Sr. Mary Joachim Blosl, formerly of the South Hills, died Feb. 13, 2011.
She served as a Franciscan Sister for 64 years
For almost 30 years, Sister Joachim was an elementary school teacher in the Pittsburgh and Greensburg dioceses. In 1976, she began her ministry at Crosskeys Human Services Inc. in Brownsville, where she served as director of aging and mental health coordinator until she retired in 1995.
Upon her retirement, she became a board member of Crosskeys and held that position until 2001. For seven years, she was a resident at Norbert House where she ministered to the other residents.
In 2008, she joined the Sisters at Mt. Alvernia in Prayer Ministry.
She is survived by her sister, Sr. Mary Blosl; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph, Martin, John, Matthew, Paul, Anthony and George Blosl; and sisters, Anna Miller, Margaret Rathke and Antoinette Kress.
A service was held at Mount Alvernia Chapel in Millvale. Contributions may be made to Saint Clare Monastery, 720 Henry Clay Ave., New Orleans, LA 70118.
Theresa Lance

Theresa L. (Biath) Lance, 78, of Brentwood, died Feb. 16, 2011.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann (Bill) Harmon of Indiana; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jonathan Harmon.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Peter Biath Jr.; and a sister, Sr. Mary Ann.
Services were held in St. Michael Cemetery Chapel. Arrangements were handled by the Cieslak & Tatko Funeral Home Inc., Brentwood.
Edward J. "Eddie" Moran
Edward J. "Eddie" Moran, 50, of Baldwin Borough, died Feb. 10, 2011.
He is survived by his parents, Edward L. "Buddy" and Josephine (Catanzaro) Moran; sisters, Deborah (Jim) Byerly, Elaine (Anthony) Yobbi and Michele (Johnny) Milanek; nieces and nephews, Anthony Yobbi, Matthew (Keiko) Brucker, Angela and Alayna Yobbi, Jared Milanek; and great-nephews, Vincent and Travis Brucker.
He was preceded in death by his nephew, Joey Brucker.
Friends were received at the Cieslak & Tatko Funeral Home Inc., Brentwood, where a blessing service was held.
Rita Carter

Rita E. (Miller) Carter, 89, of Brentwood, died Feb. 9, 2011.
She is survived by her nieces, Shirley Prisalac, Marilyn Stackowicz and Regina Burnelis; and a nephew, Raymond Miller.
Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur K. Carter; and a daughter, Corrine Carter Hogan.

John Masur

John G. Masur, 83, of Brookline, formerly of Brentwood, died Feb. 7, 2011.
He is survived by his children, John G. (Susan) Masur Jr., Karen Miller, Daniel (Cheryl Ganther) Masur, and Kathy (James) Mahaffey; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and siblings, Sister Francis Teresa, Mary Wertz, Brother Jimmi Maasura and William Masur. He also is survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Aileen (Dowling) Masur; a brother, Frank Masur; and sisters, Celine Owens and Dorothy Szuminski.
Friends were received at the Cieslak & Tatko Funeral Home Inc., Brentwood. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Church of the Resurrection.
George Bell

George E. Bell, 75, of Baldwin Borough, died Jan. 28, 2011.
Mr. Bell was the founder and owner of Bell Auto Parts.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys (Shaffer) Bell, of 56 years; children, Sherry (Tim) Kochman, David (Cheryl) Bell, Tim (Debbie) Bell; grandchildren, Joey, Andy and Troy Bell; and brothers, James and Terry Bell. He also is survived by his companion, Heidi; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn Marie Bell; and a brother, Richard Bell.
Friends were received at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Inc., Pleasant Hills, where a service was held.

Donna L. Wojnovich, 71, of Baldwin Borough, died Feb. 10, 2011.
She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey M. and Brian G. Wojnovich; and grandchildren, Anthony C., Noel and Jeffrey Wojnovich.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas M. Wojnovich; and her parents, Dorothy and Gilbert Hartung.

Michael Bruce
Michael Bruce, 94, of Pleasant Hills, died Nov. 20, 2010.
Mr. Bruce served in the Pacific Theater during World War II and attained the rank of captain with the 13th Army Aircorp 321st Air Service Group. He attended the University of Alabama School of Business and received a finance degree from Duke University.
Mr. Bruce is survived by his wife, June M. Bruce; children, Michael J. (Judy) Bruce, Susan (Daniel) Edelstone, Nancy (Ross Jr.) Molinaro, Richard (the late Susie) Bruce, Janet Schwartz, Kathleen (Earl) Olson, Mary Anne Pediconi, David (Lori) Bruce and John "Jack" (Shelley) Bruce; a daugher-in-law, Shirley Bruce; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Bruce.
Friends were received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home Inc., Brentwood. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Interment was private.
