Pennsylvania Obituary and Marriage Records, 1947-2010

Charlotte M. Biddle

Charlotte M. Biddle, 45, of Tyrone, passed away early Saturday morning, August 9, 2008 at Hearthside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, State College, after a lengthy illness.
She was born May 22, 1963 in Altoona, a daughter of Galen W. and Dorcas M. (Stacey) Biddle. Her father preceded her in death August 4, 1992.
Surviving are her mother, with whom she resided; two sisters, Paula Morrissey (husband, Dave) of Tyrone and Gail Biddle, also at home; a brother, Charles Biddle (wife, Julie) of Port Matilda; her grandmother, Elizabeth Stacey of Williamsburg RR2; two nephews; two nieces and numerous cousins.
Miss Biddle was of the Protestant faith. She was a 1981 graduate of Tyrone Area High School and enjoyed NASCAR racing and spending time with her family.
Friends will be received from 2 until the 5 p.m. funeral service Tuesday at the Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, with Mr. Todd Lewis officiating.
Private interment will be at Royer Cemetery, Williamsburg RR2.

Robert Paul ‘Bob’ Maser

Robert Paul “Bob” Maser, 77, of 504 W. 15th St., Tyrone, PA, died Saturday morning, August 9, 2008 at his residence.
He was born January 9, 1931 in Johnstown, PA the son of John O. and Ethel (Koda) Maser.
He was twice married: First on May 5, 1951 at Winchester, VA to Shirley L. Gibson who died June 6, 1990. Then on August 3, 1991 in Tyrone he married Arlene Beckwith who survives.
He is survived by a son Robert J. Maser (Cindy) of Wilmington, DE and daughters Debra J. Shawley (Jim) and Kimberly J. Williams (Tim) of Tyrone.
Six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Step-children: Ron Beckwith (Jackie) and Sheri Hartsock (Eric) of Tyrone and Amy Shanley (Shawn) of Newark, NY.
Six step-grandchildren and one aunt, Irene Sidor of Johnstown.
He was a graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School and attended St. Francis University.
After moving to Tyrone in 1962 he became very active in community affairs.
He was a long-time coach, past president and treasurer of the Tyrone Teener League; and honorary life member of TACO; a devoted member and past president of Tyrone Kiwanis Club; an active member and corps major sergeant of the Tyrone Salvation Army; and recently continued service by opening the Tyrone Salvation Army Service Center.
He had taught Sunday School at Christ United Methodist Church and attended the Tyrone Alliance Church. He was a faithful servant of the Lord and he loved the people of Tyrone.
He was the number one avid Tyrone sports fan.
He retired in 1993 as an agent of the American General Insurance Company after 11 years and previously was executive director of the Tyrone YMCA.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at 1 p.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc. Tyrone, with Major Karen Garrett and Reverend Norman E. Huff officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown, PA.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Contributions in his memory may be made to the Tyrone Salvation Army Service Center, 908 Pennsylvania Avenue, Tyrone, PA 16686.

Beverly Pascal

Beverly L. Pascal, 80, of Pennsylvania House, 2 W. 11th St., Tyrone died Friday morning, August 8, 2008 at her residence.
She was born April 11, 1928 in Altoona, a daughter of Arthur Warren and Ida Pauline (Over) Stoke. She was married to Rou Pascal who preceded her in death.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, G. Jeanne Wagner and A. Pauline Stoke.
Mrs. Pascal had been a model in New York City in her earlier years for various magazines.
Private burial will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Blue Knob. There will be no viewing or services.
Arrangements are under the direction of Feller Memorial Home.

Sarah L. Reigh

Sarah L. Reigh, 87, formerly of Bellwood, died Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Bethany Village, Mechanicsburg.
She was born May 3, 1921 in Bellwood, a daughter of the late Rowan C. and Mary C. (Boyer) Reigh.
Sarah was the last member of her family. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred M. Reigh.
She was a graduate of Antis Township High School and Catherman Business School, Altoona. She also attended Penn State University. Sarah retired as supervisor of fee services at James E. Van Zandt Medical Center, Altoona. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Bellwood where she served as church secretary.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. time of funeral service on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Bellwood with Rev. Dr. Robert Ludrowsky officiating.
Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Sarah’s memory may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Bellwood.

Mila M. Davinsizer

Mila M. Davinsizer, 80, of 607 N. 10th Street, Bellwood, died Saturday morning, August 2, 2008, at her residence. She was born on July 15, 1928 in Tyrone, the daughter of the late Roy and Virginia (Waite) McFalls. She married Henry W. Davinsizer Sr., who preceded her in death on February 2, 1999.
Surviving are daughters Mary Lou Smith of Scranton, Winifred M. Snouffer of Altoona, Emily V. Hamilton of Bellwood, and Darlene A. Nevins of Martinsburg. Sons: Henry W. and Walter D., both of Bellwood. Sisters: Lois Jean Stewart of Bellwood, Betty Davinsizer of Bellwood, and Bernadine Stuart of Fullerton, California. There are 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sisters Nancy Adams and Dora Walk, and brothers Dale McFalls, Gerald McFalls, and John McFalls.
Mrs. Davinsizer was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, bingo, camping, and fishing. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Bellwood.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, August 4, 2008 at Vincent J. Good Funeral Parlor in Bellwood.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at the funeral parlor with Pastor Donna Vaux and Pastor Mark Biter officiating.
Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.
Donations may be made out to the Home Nursing Agency Hospice, Calvary United Methodist Church, or American Cancer Society.

William D. McNaul

William D. McNaul, age 93 of 1 Longsdorf Way, Carlisle, PA and formerly of Tyrone, died Monday, July 28, 2008 at the Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was born April 20, 1915 in Coalport, the son of Blaine R. and Margaret Davidson McNaul. In 1937 he married Cleo Milligan. They enjoyed 61 years together. Cleo preceded him in death May 12, 1998. He will be sadly missed by their two daughters, Eleanor Hartman of Boiling Springs and Gretchen (Harry) Fisher of Rochester, NY; five grandchildren - William (Kyong) Hartman, Elizabeth (Joseph) Knouse, Mark and Alex Fisher, Eleanor (Andrew) Olander, and six great-grandchildren - William, Abigail and Joseph Knouse Jr., Annette and Adam Hartman and Lauren Olander. He was the last of his immediate family.
Mr. McNaul was a member of the First English Lutheran Church. He was a 1934 graduate of Tyrone High School. Early in his career, Mr. McNaul worked at the McNaul Brothers Meat Packing Company in Coalport and later owned and operated his own grocery store on Logan Avenue in Tyrone. He also worked as a produce manager at the Acme in Tyrone, as well as a custodian and bus driver for the Tyrone Area School District. Mr. McNaul retired from Westvaco Paper Mill after many years of service. He was a member of Tyrone F&AM No. 494, the Jaffa Shrine, and the Scottish rite, Valley of Altoona. As a boy he was a Sea Scout and basketball player. He was a member of the Cayman Campers Club of Treasure Lake since 1984 where he was an avid fisherman and camper. For over 30 years he had served on the Tyrone Area School Board. Lovingly known by many as Pop-pop, he will be remembered for his selflessness, honesty, and integrity.
Funeral services for William D. McNaul will be Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 3 p.m. at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Reverend Norman E. Huff officiating. Interment will be in Blair Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. Friends may call the funeral home on Saturday from 2 to the 3 p.m. hour of service.

Frederick Swanson
served as Brentwood council member for 20 years
Frederick A. Swanson, 63, of Brentwood, died Jan. 18, 2010.
Mr. Swanson was a lifelong resident of Brentwood and served as a council member for 20 years.
He was the husband of Leticia G; Swanson for 40 years; father of Tom (Tricia), Melissa (Gregg) Huber and Todd; son of the late Earl and Irene Swanson; brother of Noreen (Joseph) and Christine (Arthur); and grandfather of Madison Jane, Isabel, Eliza and Hayden.
Arrangements were handled by the John F. Slater Funeral Home Inc., Brentwood.

Dorothy Donahue
Lived in Whitehall
Dorothy "Sis" Donahue, formerly of Whitehall and West Mifflin, died Jan. 14, 2010.
She was the wife of the late James J. Donahue; mother of James H. Donahue and D. Fern (Danny) Clifford, both of Pittsburgh; daughter of the late Louis and Bertha (Thompson) Adler; sister of Charles (Joyce) Adler of Ligonier, Lois (the late George) Carver of West Mifflin and the late Howard (wife, Jan) Adler of Pittsburgh; grandmother of Tracy (Fred) Mackey, Erin Donahue, Dana (Chris) Weigold and Scott (Cindy) Clifford; great-grandmother of Jason Mackey, Christopher and Jessica Weigold, Jeffery, Niklaus and Samantha Clifford; mother-in-law of the late Toni Lee Probed Donahue.
She also is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were handled by the John F. Slater Funeral Home Inc., Brentwood.

Paul Sefchick
Korean War veteran
Paul C. Sefchick, 78, of Whitehall, died Jan. 15, 2010.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a 32-year employee of Continental Can Corp.
He was the husband of Aurelia (Obringer) Sefchick; father of Susan (George) Andrewson and Judy (Eddy) Edwards; grandfather of Michael Paul Andrewson; brother of Helen (Dick) Hewlett and the late Andrew (Alberta), Robert (Beatrice) and Larry (the late LaVerne) Sefchick. He is also survived by his pet, Molly.
Friends were received at the Cieslak & Tatko Funeral Home Inc., Brentwood. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Norbert Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

James Hall
lived in Jefferson Hills
James E. Hall, 69, of Jefferson Hills, died Jan. 16, 2010.
He served in the Army Reserve. Mr. Hall was elected to the West Jefferson Hills School Board in November 2009.
He was the husband of Darrell (Peden) Hall; father of Travis (Becky) Hall, Renee (Rich) Regna and Daren Hall; and grandfather of Isabella, Luke and Ryan Regna and Steve Hall.
Friends were received at the Readshaw Funeral Home Inc., Carrick. A service was held at New Hope Assembly of God Church, Elizabeth.
The family suggests memorials be made to New Hope Assembly of God Church, 900 Peairs Road, Elizabeth, PA 15037.

Marjorie A. McGowan
Marjorie A. McGowan, 95, of Brentwood, died Feb. 18, 2011.
Mrs. McGowan was active in St. Sylvester Parish, the Women's Guild, was a St. Sylvester School library volunteer and a member of the Parent-Teachers Guild. She also was employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the Department of Public Welfare as a caseworker supervisor until her retirement.
She is survived by her children, John F. McGowan, Mary A. (William) Watts and William M. McGowan Jr. (Emma); and grandchildren, Joshua, Paul, Alixanne, Caitlin, Anne, Magdalena, Nathan and Laura McGowan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William M. McGowan Sr.; and a sister, Mildred Gavaghan.
Arrangements were handled by John F. Slater Funeral Home Inc., Brentwood.
The family suggests contributions to St. Sylvester Angel Fund, 3754 Browns-ville Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15227 or Brentwood Food Pantry, 3725 Brownsville Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15227.
