Julie L. Biddle
Julie L. Biddle, age 38, of State College, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, September 5, 2008 at her home, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
She was born November 3, 1969 in Altoona, the daughter of Richard G. and Deborah M. (Haigh) Darnell.
She married Charles W. Biddle on October 16, 1993 in Altoona.
Surviving are her husband, Charlie of State College; two daughters, Abigail and Elizabeth both at home; and one sister, Jennifer L. Davis and her husband Jay of Tyrone.
She was a 1987 graduate of Altoona Area High School, and a 1991 graduate of Penn State University.
Mrs. Biddle was an active member of the Fourth Street Church of God, where she was an original member of the Bible Quiz Team.
Prior to her illness, she was employed at the ShoeFly store in Tyrone.
She enjoyed going on vacation in Florida and being with her family, and also watching her daughters play soccer.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at The Good Funeral Home, Inc., located at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 8, 2008 at the funeral home, with Reverend Jon R. Neely officiating. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.

Lovie A. Walls
Lovie A. Walls, 74, of 1400 Cameron Ave., Tyrone, PA died Saturday, August 30, 2008 at the Tyrone Hospital.
She was born November 13, 1933 in Tyrone, a daughter of Edward and Grace (Maines) Updike.
She was married November 9, 1949 in Tyrone to Elmer L. Walls who died March 27, 2006.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce A. Walls and Margaret D. Walls, grandchildren Tabitha A. Robison (Mike) and Alan Walls (Doreen), great-grandchildren Mariah Robison, Brett Robison, Rayann Walls, all of Tyrone.
A brother George Updike of Altoona and a sister Esther Harris of Niagara Falls, NY.
A nephew, Lee Walls of Warriors Mark was raised in the home.
There are several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and seven brothers.
She was a homemaker and caregiver in helping to raise 21 foster children.
She was a great supporter of the Salvation Army and enjoyed collecting clocks.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone, with Major John Zanders officiating.
Interment will be at Eastlawn Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday 6-9 p.m. and one hour before the service on Tuesday.

Vivian W. White
Vivian W. White, age 87, of Callery, died Sunday, August 24, 2008 at UPMC Passavant Hospital, McCanless Twp., PA.
Born February 16, 1921 in Tyrone, PA, she was the daughter of the late James and Esther Gault Woomer. Mrs. White was a member of Crestview Community Church, Callery. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, reading, cooking and lunching with her friends and relatives.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Williams and her husband, William C. and Rita Klingenberg and her husband Jerry, both of Callery; a step-daughter, Judy Chandler and her husband, Terry of Tyroe, PA; four grandchildren, Kathy Tepsic and her husband Ted, Renee James and her husband Jamie, Barbara White and Toni Roitz and her husband, Steve; five great-grandchildren, Beth Ann, Katelyn, Rose and Kelly Marie Roitz, Julie Christine Kramer and Josh Thomas James.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. White who died April 24, 1980, her companion, Robert Fisher, and two sons, Reynold N. and Wayne B. White.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Boylan Funeral Home Inc. 116 E. Main Street, Evans City. Additional visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, August 29 at Derman Funeral Home, Inc., 1200 Lincoln Avenue, Tyrone, PA 16686 where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. with Rev. Ellen L. Campbell, her church pastor, officiating.
Interment will follow at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood, PA.

Donald W. Rice
Donald W. Rice, age 92, of 479 Park Avenue, Tyrone, died Monday, August 25, 2008 at his home. He was born September 8, 1915 in Barree, PA, the son of John G. and Aura Croyle Rice. On July 3, 1939 at Tyrone he was married to Norma Moore who survives. Also surviving are three children, John (Sherrill) Rice of Warriors Mark, Peggy Deibler, wife of the late John Deibler, also of Warriors Mark and James (Avis) Rice of RD4, Tyrone and one sister, Janet (William) Anderson of Tyrone. Five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Rice retired in 1966 as a track foreman for the PRR, and following his retirement, he was employed at the Spruce Creek Rod and Gun Club and at Skip Lamborn’s Service Station. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 494, the National Rifle Association and the Tyrone Sportsmen. He enjoyed spending time with his family and hunting and fishing.
Funeral service for Donald W. Rice will be Wednesday, August 27 at 11 a.m. at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Pastor Rich McCahan officiating. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Robert E. ‘Rob’ Linsenbigler
Robert E. “Rob” Linsenbigler, 54, of 108 Greendown Acres, Duncansville, PA died Sunday, August 24, 2008.
He was born January 31, 1954 at Philipsburg, PA, the son of Robert L. and Dorothy M. (Feigh) Linsenbigler.
He is survived by his mother Dorothy M. Linsenbigler Lombardo and step-father Sam Lombardo of Tyrone.
His life companion, Paula Mountain and her daughter Elizabeth Gates of Duncansville, PA.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Linsenbigler, who died March 14, 1985.
He was a graduate of Tyrone Area High School in 1972 and a graduate of Lock Haven University in 1976.
A member of the Hookies Fire Company and the Central District Volunteer Firemans Assn., BPOE Lodge No. 212, Altoona Moose Lodge, the Hollidaysburg Legion Post No. 516 and the Allegheny Club of Hollidaysburg.
Rob, also known as “Teach” was a history and geography teacher for the Claysburg-Kimmel School District for the past 25 years.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone, PA.
Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Tyrone.
Friends will be received at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. and one hour before the service on Thursday.

Lois Largent Stewart
Lois Largent Stewart, age 92, died Thursday at Country Meadows, Hampden Twp.
She was born Feb. 7, 1916 in Tyrone, a daughter of William W. and Jennie McMurtrie Largent; and was a graduate of Tyrone High School and Altoona Business School.
Lois was a member of Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church, New Cumberland; New Cumberland Senior Citizens and was an accomplished seamstress. For many years, she was the receptionist for the late Dr. Rudolph Beale, of Lemoyne.
She was the widow of Joseph E. Stewart.
Surviving are two sons, Richard E. Stewart and wife, Kaye, of New Cumberland and William J. Stewart and wife, Nora, of Lemoyne; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert R. Largent, of Altoona.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday in her church, with the Rev. Brand Eaton officiating. Viewing will be one hour prior to services Monday in the church. Burial and committal services will be at noon Tuesday in Eastlawn Cemetery, Tyrone.

John L. Parshall
Mr. John L. Parshall, age 38, of Cameron Avenue, Tyrone died Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at his residence. He was born June 3, 1970 in Altoona, the son of Gloria Parshall. On June 17, 2000 he was married to Kerri Stinson who survives. Also surviving is his mother, Gloria Silver of Altoona, two children, Benjamin and Cassandra Parshall at home and two step-children - Lauren and Bradley Kyper; one brother, Brian Parshall of Bellwood and two sisters, Heather Lear and Sarah Lear, both of Altoona.
Mr. Parshall was a graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School Class of 1988 and for the past nine years had been employed at Juniata Kunzler in Tyrone. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
A memorial service will be held Friday, August 15 at 4 p.m. at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Pastor Roy Garthwaite officiating. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until the time of service at 4 p.m.
Mrs. Lenore Spanelli Mengel
Mrs. Lenore Spanelli Mengel of Tyrone, PA, died at the age 82 on Monday, August 11, 2008 at 10:20 p.m. Loved ones were by her side until she passed at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center.
Lenore (Leanie) was born on September 1, 1925 in Pemberton, PA and was the daughter of Italian immigrants, Peter and Nicolena Spanelli. Leanie married her dear husband, Chet (Chester Ray Mengel I) on September 16, 1948 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church Rectory. She treasured her life in the home she and Chet built on Hoover’s Lane throughout the nearly 60 years of their marriage. It was here where they raised their son, “Chuck” (Mr. Chester R. Mengel II) and daughter, Nicolee (Dr. Nicolee Mengel Hiltz).
Leanie was a loving grandmother to Christy Lee Mengel (great-granddaughter Aleana), Chester Ray Mengel III, and Teri Jean Mengel (great-granddaughter Baylee Mae), as well as Chandra Taylor (children - Noah, Cassidy, Malia and Amara) and Ashley Pritchett: the family of her son Chuck and daughter-in-law Deann.
Leanie also deeply loved her granddaughter, Jessica Lee Hiltz and grandson, Michael James Hiltz, who are the children of her daughter, Nicolee and son-in-law, Jim (Dr. James Hiltz).
All of Leanie’s surviving siblings - Katherine DelBaggio, Peter Spanelli, Jr. (wife Dorothy Spanelli) and Dorothy Patton still reside in the Tyrone area. Her eldest sister, Rose Boscaino, preceded her in death. Her surviving nieces and nephews are Diane (Boscaino) Decker, Victoria (DelBaggio) Hayes, Mary Kay (DelBaggio) Dubetz, John Patton, Peter Patton and Steven Spanelli. Leanie’s nephew, Dennis Boscaino and grandnephew, Joshua Hayes, very recently preceded her in death.
In her youth, Leanie was a student at the “one room school house” in Pemberton, then the “old high school” on Lincoln Avenue. Having skipped fifth grade, she graduated at the age of 16 with the Tyrone High School class of 1942. As a young woman, she worked as a secretary at the Western Union office in Tyrone and at Penn State University. Lenore was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church and of Court St. Rita No. 523, Catholic Daughters of America. She remained an active member of the community throughout her life.
Family was always Lenore’s priority. She was a homemaker who was totally devoted to her soul mate and husband, Chet. Her greatest joy in life came from being with her children and grandchildren. She was a warm, loving lady. Leanie was generous of the heart as proven by the number of lives she touched and her many life-long friends. She made a positive difference while on this earth and will be missed.
The Funeral Mass will be held Friday, August 15 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church with Father Joseph T. Orr officiating. Her private burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family. All friends and family may call at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Marie Adele Chronister
Marie Adele Chronister, 87, of RR 3 Box 500, Altoona died Monday, August 11, 2008 at the Altoona Regional Health Systems following a brief illness.
She was born May 17, 1921 in Warriors Mark, a daughter of Merel Grazier and Forrest W. Eyer. She was married to David J. Chronister in 1944, who preceded her in death in 2001. She was also preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
Surviving is one daughter and two sons: Sallye Creamer of Altoona; David J. Chronister, Jr. of Tyrone; and Brent A. Chronister of Bald Eagle. Three grandchildren: Richard, Jason, and Wendy. Five great-grandchildren: Kaleb, Drew, Garrett, Lauren, and Alana.
Mrs. Chronister graduated from Warriors Mark High School in 1937, and then earned a Bachelors Degree from Indiana University and a Masters Degree from Penn State. She was employed by the Tyrone School District for 30-plus years teaching the Home Economics Department, where she became department head.
She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, Tyrone. She enjoyed ballroom dancing and competing at International competitions after retiring to Florida.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Bruce E. Cox Funeral Home in Warriors Mark with the Reverend Peggy Bonsell officiating.
Burial is at Spring Mount Cemetery in Warriors Mark Township.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.
Eleanor Morrison Moore
Eleanor Morrison Moore, 86, of RR 5 Box 303, Tyrone, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 8, 2008 at Bellmeade Manor in Altoona. She was born June 25, 1922 in Washington D.C., the daughter of the late Grace Alden and Paul Davis Morrison.
She was married 54 years to the late Eric Ellis Moore, who died in 1994.
Surviving are four sons: Christopher and wife Sharon of Sunderland, MD; Kenneth Moore of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Bruce and wife Penni of Tyrone; and Paul and wife Christina Moore of Farmington, NY. Four grandchildren: Joan Elaine, Julianne, Gregory, and Jennifer. One great-grandchild: Kristin.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Anne.
Mrs. Moore was a member of the Potomac Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She loved to play the organ and piano. She also loved and cared for all types of animals.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 East Pleasant Valley Blvd, Altoona, PA.
