Paul C. Harris

Paul C. Harris, 83, of 419 Washington Avenue, Tyrone, died Saturday, November 25, 2006 at the Altoona Center for Nursing Care.
He was born November 27, 1922 at Port Matilda, a son of Thomas and Pearl (Wiser) Harris.
He was married July 17, 1943 to Naomi Ruth Weaver.
He is survived by his wife and three daughters: Paula Louise Harris of Tyrone, Anna Mae Ketrow (Don) of Duncansville and Gretchen Sue Harris of Mt. Joy, six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was the last of his immediate family being preceded in death by sons Paul C., Jr. and Robert Eugene and a sister Agnes and a brother Albert Harris.
He was an Army Veteran of WWII and enjoyed working Flea-Markets.
He retired as the Water Dept. Supervisor and was previously a Police Officer for the Tyrone Borough with total service of 37 years.
By request of the deceased, there will be no public services or visitation.
Arrangements were by the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone.
Elmer E. Parker

Elmer E. Parker, 83, of Tipton Rd., P.O. Box 243, Tipton died unexpectedly Thursday, Nov. 23, 2006 at the Altoona Regional Health System- Altoona Hospital Campus E.R.
He was born Sept. 18, 1923 in Tyrone, a son of Robert E. and Nancy V. (Kling) Parker.
He was married July 22, 1950 in Tyrone, to Doris Mae Johnson who died Dec. 26, 2001.
He is survived by a daughter Trudy Kirkpatrick and her husband Donald R., Jr. and a son Toby Lee Parker both of Tipton; a family friend, Bonnie (Chronister) Taylor; grandchildren: Kristie Weaver (Robert) of Tyrone, Jason Kirkpatrick of Roy, UT, Renee Chronister (Damian), Fort Hood, TX and Jessica Parker, Hagerstown, MD; great grandchildren: Kelsey Sipes of Sparks, MD, Jordan Parker Kirkpatrick of Las Vegas, NV and Emma Mae Chronister of Fort Hood, TX and a sister, Arvilla “Dolly” Woodring of Centre Hall, PA.
He was preceded in death by a sister Mary Jane Clites and brothers William B. Parker and Robert M. Parker.
He was a graduate of Tyrone High School in 1942 and a former member of the Hookies Fire Co., the Tyrone VFW and the Tipton Firehall Co.
He served as a S/SGT. in the U.S. Army Anti-Tank Div. 342 Reg., 86 Division in Europe and the Philippines during WW II.
He retired in April of 1986 from Westvaco Corp., Tyrone after 44 years service.
There will be no public viewing.
A memorial service and Flag presentation will be held Monday at the convenience of the family, with Rev. Peggy J. Bonsell officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.

Deanne C. Beers

Deanne C. Beers, 68, of Tyrone RD 2, Fostoria, died Monday morning at M. S. Hershey Medical Center due to complications of a kidney transplant.
She was born on Oct. 19, 1938 in Tyrone, a daughter of the late William Andrew and Madeline (Stewart) Barrett. She married Harold E. Beers on Aug. 3, 1992 in Winchester, VA.
Surviving are her husband; daughters: Michelle Kuzawski and husband, Richard of Lakeside, CA and Dawn Bass and husband, Donald of Arden, NC; sons: Forrest Hazzard and wife, Rosa of Santee, CA and Phillip Hazzard and wife, Kathy of San Diego, CA; three grandchildren and one great grandchild; sisters: Kathleen Clites and husband, Robert of Tyrone and Stephanie Basca and husband, Michael of Phoenixville.
Mrs. Beers was formerly employed as a retail clerk at Gee Bee’s, Altoona with 20 years of service.
She was a member of Tyrone Elks Lodge #212. She enjoyed photography and flower gardening.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 24 at the Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Bellwood, where an Elks service will be held at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006 at the funeral home with Rev. David H. Roesch officiating.
Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
Myrl E. Wilson

Myrl E. Wilson, age 75, died on Friday, May 26, 2006 in Austin, Texas where he resided for 25 years. He was an active member of St. John’s United Methodist Church. Myrl was a proud member of many organizations including the Penn State Alumni Association, University of Kansas Alumni Association, National Association for Uniformed Services, Life Member of the Retired Officers Association and Registered Professional Engineers in Texas. He was a Retired Colonel in the United States Air Force after more than 28 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Jane W. Wilson of Austin, Texas; sons, Steve Wilson and wife, Tereasa of Buda, Texas and Tracy Wilson and wife, Doreen and their sons, Zachary and Troy of Jacksonville, Florida; daughter, Carol Callahan and husband, Ronald and their children, Riley, Kelly, Corey and Colter of Cedar Park, Texas; granddaughter, Kristen Ritchie and husband, Travis Brown and their sons, Travis, Gavin and Peyton Brown of Austin, Texas; brothers, Carl Wilson and wife, Mabel and Clifford Wilson and wife, Patricia both of Tyrone, PA.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 2, 2006 at Austin Memorial Park with a memorial service immediately following at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 2140 Allandale, Austin, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the St. John’s United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Joanne Scordo

Joanne Scordo, 61, of 114 N. Irvine Street, Warren, died on Tuesday May 23, 2006, at 12:55 p.m., at Warren General Hospital.
Mrs. Scordo was born December 21, 1944, in Tyrone, the daughter of the late Scott and Martha (Lybolt) Sessamen. Mrs. Scordo had worked as a secretary for 25 years with the Warren County School District where she was head of the athletic statistics and in charge of school attendance; she was also employed as a receptionist at the Super 8 Motel. She attended Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, and was active with the Warren County Cursillo. She was a loving mother and grandmother, involved with her children in the Kinzua Kounty Kadettes, WAHS Marching Band, and the Warren Area Skate Park Boosters. She loved her cats including Buddy, and enjoyed listening to country and gospel music.
She is survived by her husband, Antonio Scordo, Jr.; two daughters, Mrs. Kyle (Sunda) Burns, Tacoma, WA and Melissa (Missy) Scordo Zdarko, Warren; a son, Antonio Scordo III and his wife Holly, Salamanca, NY; a brother, Richard Sessamen, Tyrone; four grandsons, Corey Zdarko, Kyler Zdarko, Joseph Scordo, and Casey Ball; three granddaughters, Kyleigh Burns, Korissa Burns, and Ruth Scordo; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Peterson - Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, on Friday June 2, 2006 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family, with Monsignor John Lucas, pastor, Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church and Rev. Raymond Gramata, pastor, St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, co-officiating.

Linda L. Riggleman

Mrs. Linda L. Riggleman, age 56, of 2106 Columbia Avenue, Tyrone, died Sunday, May 28, 2006 at 6:05 a.m. at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Campus.
She was born June 30, 1949 in Altoona, the daughter of James Stein Parks and Ivy Woomer Parks Lytle. On May 15, 1986 in Winchester, VA she was married to Robert D. Riggleman who preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 2001.
She is survived by a sister Cindy (Ernest) Kellander of Pleasant Gap and two nephews: Randy (Lisa) Dickson of Mill Hall and John (Janel) Dickson of Tyrone and a grand niece Alexis Dickson of Mill Hall and two grand nephews: Corey and Tyler Barnhart, both of Tyrone.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Mrs. Riggleman was of the Protestant faith and was a graduate of Tyrone Area High School Class of 1967. She had been employed by James Industries for more than 20 years, retiring in 1998. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
Funeral service for Linda L. Riggleman will be Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Norman E. Huff officiating. Interment will be in the Alto Reste Cemetery, Altoona.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from noon until the time of the service at 2 p.m.
Andrew D. Moore

Andrew D. Moore, 93, of Flinton, formerly of Altoona and Tyrone, died Sunday, May 21, 2006 at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Campus, after a brief illness of congestive heart failure.
He was born Sunday, January 19, 1913 in Altoona, the son of the late William Moore and Jennie Hanlon.
He graduated from Altoona in 1930 and attended Penn State and the Philadelphia School of Industrial Art.
Mr. Moore was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Tyrone. He had been employed as a teacher at Grier School and Altoona High School.
Surviving are three nieces, Joanne Cannistraci of Tyrone, Barbara Latchford of Hollidaysburg and Susan Houser of Columbus, Ohio and loving friends Mark and Barbara Haigh and their son John, with whom he resided.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother W. Howard Moore, sister Jane Yon, half sister Margaret Boyd, half brother James Algeo and nephew David Yon.
He was a US Army veteran of WWII, serving as first Lieutenant. During his time in the military, he served in the office of Gen. George Patton.
He retired as an art teacher from Grier School, Birmingham and also taught art at Altoona High School.
Andrew was a well-known artist in the area and had been painting for more than 80 years. In 2004, he was inducted into the Blair County Arts Hall of Fame. He taught art in the Altoona and Tyrone areas for many years. Some of his most famous students were Janet Blair and Joe Servello.
He was also an outstanding vocalist, having sung in many local churches, as well as the Temple, and while traveling with a local choir sang before the pope at St. Peter’s in Rome.
Andrew’s first love was painting, but he loved singing, traveling and people. He touched the lives of many people and leaves behind hundreds of friends.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing, as Andrew donated his body to science.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 830 Washington Ave., Tyrone.

Gerald W. ‘Jerry’ Klingler, Sr.

Gerald W. “Jerry” Klingler, Sr., 41, of 216 Pumpkin Rd., Ginter, PA, died Tuesday afternoon, May 23, 2006.
He was born Oct. 1, 1964 at Bellefonte, a son of Robert Ellsworth and Kathryn Elizabeth (Miller) Klingler, Sr.
He is survived by three sons and one daughter: Gerald William Klingler, Jr., James Robert Klingler, Kenneth George Klingler, April Lynn Klingler, all of Clearfield; a grandson, Isaiah William Klingler; his parents, Robert and Kathryn Klingler of Pennsylvania Furnace; sisters Belinda Marie Scheidell (Frank) and Debra Kay Klingler of Pennsylvania Furnace and brother Robert E. Klingler, Jr. (Kim) of Port Matilda; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and longtime companion Judy Gutshall of Ginter, PA.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother Donald William Klingler.
He loved logging and cherished his children. He enjoyed life and pushed it to the limit. He was last employed as a driver for Zimmerman Trucking.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 27, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone with the Rev. Donald Rock officiating.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m.
