Allen Albert Irvin

August 23, 2005

Allen Albert Irvin, 80, of Summerfield, Florida, died Friday, August 19, 2005 in Ocala, Florida.
He was born June 29, 1925 in Tyrone.
He formerly resided in Livonia, MI. and moved to Florida in 1991.
Mr. Irvin retired as an experimental auto mechanic for Ford Motor Co. He was a member of the North Lake Presbyterian Church, Lady Lake, Florida. He also served in the US Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Delberta J. Irvin of Summerfield, Florida; a son, Allen D. Irvin of Houston, TX; a daughter, Cynthia Morrissey of Arco, TX; a sister, Catherine Reeder of Tyrone; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Ensign.
Memorial contributions may be made to North Lake Presbyterian Church.
Arrangements by Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services - Lady Lake, Lady Lake, Florida.
A memorial service for Mr. Irvin will be Saturday, August 27 at 5 p.m. at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Lady Lake.

Bruce Bryan Wallace

August 23, 2005

Bruce Bryan Wallace of Pipersville passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 13, 2005.
He was 40.
He was the devoted husband of Jennifer Wallace and the loving father of five children, Robert, William, Benjamin, Bryan and Elizabeth.
He and his wife had operated a landscaping business for 10 years.
Bruce enjoyed many activities, which included horse racing and breeding thoroughbreds. His greatest passion in life was spending time with his wife and family.
Bruce was an inspiring father, husband and friend. He not only coached his sons in various sports, but also coached wrestling in Line Mountain, Pennridge and later at Palisades High School. Throughout his life, he continued to work with and inspire many individuals, young and old alike.
He was born and raised in Tyrone, Blair County. He graduated from Tyrone Area High School in 1983. While attending Tyrone High, Bruce was two-time PIAA state wrestling champion, who went on to be inducted into the Tyrone Wrestling Hall of Fame. He continued his education at Bloomsburg University, where he achieved his master’s degree in education.
In addition to his wife and children, Bruce is survived by his brothers and sisters and by many friends who will deeply miss his hardworking, loving, fun and kind attitude toward others.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wallace Children’s Fund, c/o Univest Bank, P.O. Box 446, Plumsteadville, Pa 18949.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Donahue Funeral Home, Ottsville.

Ray E. Stringer, II

August 22, 2005

Ray E. Stringer, II, 43, of 2055 Adams Ave., Tyrone, died at 2:24 a.m. Friday, August 19, 2005 at Conemaugh Hospital E.R., Johnstown.
He was born April 22, 1962 in Tyrone, a son of Donald E. and Carol L. (Jones) Stringer.
He was formerly married to Windy Malmstrom.
He is survived by a son Benjamin E., a daughter Heather Marie and his mother Carol L. Stringer, all of Tyrone.
Also, four brothers: Donald E. Stringer, Jr. and William D. Stringer of Tyrone; Richard C. Stringer of Duncansville and Timothy A. Stringer of Julian.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald E. Stringer, Sr. August 25, 1989.
He was a graduate of Tyrone Area High School in 1980. He was Chief of the Neptune Fire Company, Tyrone, since 1990; was a member of the Hookies Fire Company and the Central District Volunteer Fireman’s Assn. along with several other volunteer fire organizations. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed walks in the woods.
He was employed at P.P.G. Industries, Tipton for the past three years and previously at Westvaco Corp. for seven years and the New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Tyrone, with Rev. Tim Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Franklinville Cemetery with fireman’s procession honors.
Friends will be received at the Derman Funeral, Inc., Tyrone, on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., reserving 6 to 7 p.m. for fire company representatives only.
The casket will be closed by request.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Ray’s honor be made to the Neptune Fire Co., 1701 Lincoln Ave., Tyrone.

Eugene H. McMullin

November 10, 2006

Eugene H. McMullin, age 89, of 5932 Barree Road, Porter Township, Alexandria, PA, died Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at 9:10 p.m. at Huntingdon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Huntingdon. He was born April 4, 1917 in Spruce Creek, PA. He was one of 12 children born to George W. and Nanny O. (Moffit) McMullin. He married Dorothy Porter on August 23, 1941 at the Petersburg Presbyterian Church with Rev. Oscar Anderson officiating. The McMullins celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this past August.
Mrs. McMullin survives at their Alexandria residence. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Veronica Hay and her husband Paul of State College and a son Larry McMullin of Danville. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by five brothers and six sisters.
He worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad for over 20 years, then for Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for eight years and finally he retired from Juniata Valley School District as a bus driver.
He was a member of the Petersburg United Methodist Church, the Alexandria American Legion Post No. 20, the Petersburg Volunteer Fire Company and the Petersburg Senior Center. He enjoyed collecting model trains and cars and was especially proud of his train collection.
He was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army after being inducted at Altoona, Pennsylvania on August 20, 1943 until his discharge April 11, 1946 as a corporal at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. He was a light truck operator with the 9206th Technical Service Unit.
Except for a few years of residing in Tyrone, he was a lifetime resident of Huntingdon County, having lived on Barree Road for the past 57 years.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, November 11, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, November 12, 2006 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Duane J. Coy officiating. Interment at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Petersburg, PA.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Cutright-Speck Funeral Home P.C., Juniata Valley Chapel, 412 Main Street, Alexandria, PA 16611.

Doris A. Garber

Doris A. Garber, 75, of 2 W. 11th St., Tyrone, died Sunday, November 12, 2006 at her residence.
Arrangements are by the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone.

Renee Adaire Sager

November 13, 2006

Renee Adaire Sager, 52, of State College, died Saturday, November 11, 2006 at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born January 23, 1954, she was the daughter of the late George Melvin and Bernice Arlene Hosband Lehman. On July 23, 1973 she married Gary M. Sager, who survives at home.
Renee was a 1971 graduate of Tyrone High School. She worked as a line inspector for CCDA, a Coca Cola distributor of water, in Milesburg. Renee was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid shopper and enjoyed cooking and baking. Renee provided a sense of warmth and comfort for all who were blessed by her presence.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Lisa Renee Salvato and her husband Brian of State College, a grandson Carter E. Salvato and a brother Sonnie L. Lehman and his wife Betty of Milford.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at Koch Funeral Home with Rev. Samuel Reese officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Centre Volunteers in Medicine, 251 Easterly Parkway, State College, 16801 or to the Woman’s Resource Center, 140 West Nittany Avenue, State College, 16801.

Charlotte L. Andrews

November 13, 2006

Charlotte L. Andrews, 76, of 117 Dogwood St., Bellefonte died Friday, Nov. 10, 2006 at 4 a.m. at her residence.
She was born April 29, 1930 in Altoona, a daughter of the late Millard and Violet (Fern) Matthew. She was first married to Paul Etters in 1956 at Winchester, VA.
He died in April 1963. She then married J. Ronald Andrews on Feb. 13, 1987 in Winchester, VA.
Surviving are her husband, three daughters: Cathy Light and husband Frank of Tyrone, Charmane Woomer of Tyrone, Tina Turiano and husband Randy of York; a son Paul Etters, Jr. and wife Leilani of Tyrone; a step-son Tracy Andrews and wife Jennifer of Bellefonte; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two sisters: Joann Thompson of Altoona and Della Rydell of Mena, AR. She was preceded in death by a sister Pearl and two brothers Kenny and Bud.
Mrs. Andrews retired in 1992 from Coil Specialties, State College following four years service. She was previously employed at Proctor Silex, Bellemeade and Big Yank, Tyrone. She was a member of the Duncansville VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Charlotte enjoyed bingo and traveling.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Feller Memorial Home with Rev. Norman E. Huff officiating. Interment will follow at Blair Memorial Park.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the services.

Henry W. "Bus" Davidson

Henry W. “Bus” Davidson, 80, of RD1 Box 567, Tyrone, died Sunday, November 12, 2006 at the Tyrone Hospital.
Arrangements are by the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone.

A. Eugene Shuey

November 13, 2006

Mr. A. Eugene Shuey, age 86, a resident of Graystone Apartments, 1700 Hamilton Avenue, Tyrone died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006 at 7:22 a.m. at the Tyrone Hospital.
He was born July 25, 1920 in Tyrone, the son of John D. and Susan Detwiler Shuey and on June 10, 1946 at Winchester, VA was married to Sue Evans who preceded him in death on Jan. 16, 1998.
He is survived by two daughters- Pamela, wife of R. Thomas Crawford, Sinking Valley, Tyrone RD #1 and Melanie, wife of Barry Rhoades of Tyrone; two grandsons- Shane Crawford and Dustin Rhoades and one granddaughter- Jennifer Rhoades. He was preceded in death by one brother, two sisters, a half-brother and a half-sister and was the last of his immediate family.
He was a graduate of Tyrone High School Class of 1938. He was employed by Westvaco at the Tyrone Plant and retired in 1983 from the C.A. Reed Division of Westvaco as plant superintendent in Williamsport. He was a member of Troop B, 104th Armored Calvary, Pennsylvania National Guard. He entered federal service on February 17, 1941 when Troop B was federalized and served in the European Theatre during World War II. He was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant and attended the Armored School in Fort Knox, KY in 1950 after which he was appointed Commanding Officer of Troop B 104th Armored Calvary and promoted to Captain, retired from the active reserve on July 28, 1980.
He was a member of St. Alban’s Anglican Church of Pine Grove Mills where he served on the Vestry. He was a member of Howard Gardner Post #218 American Legion, Anderson Denny Post #4559 VFW, Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Company, Mountain Lodge #281 F. & A.M., Scottish Rite, Valley of Altoona Consistory and Jaffa Shrine.
Funeral service for A. Eugene Shuey will be held Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Father Richard E. Livingston Jr. officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park with flag presentation by the local veterans posts.
Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Alban’s Anglican Church, 146 Pine Grove Road, Pine Grove Mills, PA 16868.
