David L. Little

David L. Little, 59, of O’Fallon, Il, born Dec. 13, 1944 in Tyrone, died Sunday July 25, 2004 at St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
He was employed by the city of O’Fallon as the building inspector and was the retired chief of the O’Fallon Fire Department. He was a member of the St. Clair County Chiefs Association and the Illinois Fire Association. He was also retired from the Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant.
He was married to the recently deceased Wanda J. Little (nee Rutherford).
David is survived by his parents Kenneth E. and Anna Marie Little (nee Faust) of Tyrone; three children, Todd and Christie Little of Oconomowoc, WI, Amy Little and fiancé David Rodriquez of Chicago, IL and Michael Monken of O’Fallon, IL.
He is also survived by two grandchildren Brook and Megan Little, a beloved uncle, Byron and Louise Faust of Tyrone and an aunt, Myra and George McEwen of Tyrone and many cousins.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 27, 2004, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Schildknecht Funeral Home, 301 S. Lincoln Avenue in O’Fallon, IL.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Charlie McGee officiating. There will be a firemen’s service at 7 p.m.
A local memorial service will be held this Saturday, July 31, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the First English Lutheran Church, 17 W. 13th Street, Tyrone with Pastor T.M. Talbot-Moses officiating.
At the request of the family, his body was donated to science.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Uniformed Firefighters Widows and Children’s Fund of the American Cancer Society.
Additionally, contributions may be made to the O’Fallon Fire Department, Attention: Memorial for David Little, P.O. Box 332, O’Fallon, IL 62269.
B. Jean Carper

B. Jean Carper, 3827 Spruce Creek Rd., Spruce Creek has gone to be with the Lord. Mrs. Carper died Sunday, July 25, 2004 at her residence in Franklinville.
She was born on February 26, 1928 in Bellwood, the daughter of Beulah Mae (French) Nelson and William Edgar Nelson. On January 19, 1946 she married the late Robert E. Carper who passed away on July 23, 2000.
Surviving is one daughter, Connie Sue Jensen of Bloomington, Minn.; three sons, Robert E. Carper, Jr. of Port Matilda, Leroy Dean Carper of Franklinville and Alan E. Carper of Tyrone; 10 granddaughters; three great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; two sisters, Beulah Mae Price of Danville and Betty Emma Miller of Bellwood and one brother, Edgar Dean Nelson of Spruce Creek. She was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
Mrs. Carper was a member of the United Methodist Church in Warriors Mark. She was involved with the Huntingdon County Sunday School Association, Huntingdon County Republican Party, Blair County Open Heart Club, Warriors Mark Grange 974, where she was a member of the Seventh Degree Club, Franklin Township Committee person and a member of the Dutch Treat Dinner Club.
Mrs. Carper had been employed at PSU and later as a representative of the PA State Lottery, from which she retired.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 30, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Warriors Mark United Methodist Church. Rev. Dr. Theodore E. Kiffer, Hospice Chaplain will officiate.
Friends will be received at the Bruce E. Cox Funeral Home on Thursday, July 29 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and also on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Gerald E. “Jerry” McCoy Sr.

Gerald E. “Jerry” McCoy Sr., 78, of 1466 Blair Avenue, Tyrone died Friday, July 23, 2004 at 11:23 p.m. at his home.
He was born April 2, 1926 in Dungarvin, a son of the late James E. and Thelma (Robinson) McCoy. He married Lois G. Umholtz on December 11, 1944 at the Tyrone United Brethren Parsonage.
Surviving is his wife, a daughter Mary Ann Dunkel and husband Edward of Tyrone, a son Gerald E. II and wife Diana of Tyrone, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two brothers, Donald L. and wife Marcia of Barlow, Kentucky, James E. and wife Barbara of Tifton, Georgia and two sisters, Doris B. Moore of Tyrone and Carol Estright and husband Sam of Sandy Ridge. He was preceded in death by a brother Robert E. and two sisters, Helen L. Miles and Marjorie “Joan” Yeager.
Mr. McCoy retired in 1987 from Westvaco, Tyrone as Plant Superintendent following 44 years service.
He was of the Protestant faith and a lifelong member of the Hookies Fire Company, Cartwright Hunting Club and the Tyrone Sportsman’s Association. Prior to his illness he was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Feller Memorial Home with Rev. Timothy Tangen officiating. Interment will follow at Blair Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the Memorial Home on Monday from 2:30 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
Catherine O. Bailor

Mrs. Catherine O. Bailor, 83, a guest at Beverly Healthcare-Hillview, formerly of Bellwood, died Saturday, July 24, 2004, at Altoona Hospital.
She was born December 6, 1920, in Altoona, daughter of the late Samuel Lewis and Elsie (Lynn) Hite.
Surviving are a daughter, Susan B. Riley and husband, Charles, of Woodbury; a son, Ted Bailor and wife, Donna, of Bellwood; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey, in 1955; a daughter, Jennifer, in 1978; and was the last of her immediate family.
Mrs. Bailor retired in 1980 as owner/operator of Catherine Bailor Beauty Shop, Bellwood.
She was a member of Tipton Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and member of the Ladies Guild. She was a member of AARP.
Mrs. Bailor enjoyed painting, writing poetry, crocheting and flower gardening.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today, July 26, 2004, at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Bellwood. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Sweitzer officiating. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.

Allen W. Dixon, Sr., 75, of R.D. 5, Tyrone, died Monday, August 23, 2004, at 11:40 a.m. at the Altoona Center for Nursing Care.

Mary Helen Bonsell

Mrs. Mary Helen Bonsell, 95, of 1057 Logan Ave., Tyrone, died at 7 a.m. Sunday, August 22, 2004 at her residence. She was born November 8, 1908 in Lewisburg, Pa. a daughter of Palmer and Viola (Eddinger) Smith.
She was married February 10, 1925 at Cumberland, Md. to Clair William “Sammy” Bonsell who died July 20, 1958.
She is survived by three sons and three daughters, Bill Bonsell (Georgeanna) of Altoona, Donnie Bonsell (Shirley) of Tyrone, Audrey Dawson of Altoona, Loretta States (Ronald) of Tyrone, Palmer “Mannie” Bonsell (Rose) of Altoona and Sharon Kock (Jim) of Altoona, twenty-three grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 22 great great-grandchildren, a brother Clarence Smith of Pennsylvania and a sister Ruth Iles of Danville, Pa.
She was preceded in death by a son David, a daughter Florence, brother Palmer and sisters Loretta and Florence.
She retired in 1976 as a cook at Epworth Manor after 10 years service.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone, with Rev. Joyce Drennine officiating. Interment will be at Grazierville Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m.
Kathryn G. Frank

Mrs. Frank, 87, of 101 E. 23rd Ave., Altoona, died Friday, August 20, 2004 at Amber Terrace of the Altoona Center for Nursing Care.
Mrs. Frank was born November 15, 1916 in Altoona, a daughter of the late John and Flora D. (Closson) Yeckley. She married Harry O. Frank, Jr. on September 23, 1948 in Cumberland, MD. He died February 4, 1976.
Mrs. Frank was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. She retired as a secretary from the Tyrone Lime and Stone Co. after 40 years service, and had formerly been employed at McCrory’s five and dime store in Tyrone. She was a member of Dorcas Temple No. 128, Daughters of the Nile, and served as a volunteer at the Altoona Hospital Gift Shop from 1988 to 2000. She was a 1934 graduate of Altoona High School.
Surviving are a grand nephew and god child, Scott Gracey of Waukegan, IL, a very dear cousin, Gladys M. Wilson of Altoona plus another cousin Martha Sechrist of Tyrone. She was preceded in death by two sisters, a brother, and two nephews; John Gracey of Waukegan, IL and Harvey Gracey of Altoona.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, and from 9-10 a.m. Monday, at the Daniel R. Myers Funeral Home, 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Bethany Lutheran Church, 200 3rd Ave., Altoona, by the Rev. Brian Armen. Interment at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
Albert Andrew (Abe) Frantz

Albert Andrew (Abe) Frantz, age 76, of 1325 Beckwith Road, Port Matilda, died August 19, 2004 at his home with his family following a brief illness.
He was born January 16, 1928 in Rush Twp. to Ella (Graham) Frantz and Pius Frantz. He was married September 30, 1950 in Houserville to Alice Mae (DeArmitt) Frantz who survives.
Surviving is three sons: Danial A. (Abe), Kenneth L. and Edward A., all of Port Matilda; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and a brother, Matt of State College.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, a son, grandchild, two brothers and three sisters.
He was of the Protestant faith. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was honorably discharged on September 6, 1947. He enjoyed hunting, tending to the yard and long rides in the mountains. He was a member of the 40 and 8 Club. He was a painter by trade most of his life.
Funeral services will be Monday, August 23, 2004 at 11 at the Bruce E. Cox Funeral Home, Warriors Mark, with Pastor Henry Shaffer. Place of burial will be at Black Oak Cemetery, Port Matilda.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11.
