Frederick W. Bradford

Frederick W. Bradford, 70, of 1742 Sunnyside Hollow Road, Port Matilda, died at his residence on Thursday, June 12, 2003.
Born May 16, 1933 in Tyrone, a son of the late Frederick E. and Cora Gunsallus Keller.
He was a member of The Rock of Ages Church in Tyrone and a truck driver for Gerald Keller Trucking of Osceola Mills.
He also rode motorcycles with the Blue Knights of State College and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and riding motorcycles.
On April 9, 1977, he married the former Mary M. Cowher, who survives at home.
He is survived by four daughters, Betty Lynn Collins of Port Matilda, Deborah Patterson of Tyrone, Barbara Ann Pier of Glendale, Az., and Bonnie Kyle of Bellwood; three sons, Christopher F. Bradford of Port Matilda, Frederick E. Bradford of West Decatur, and Timothy Bradford of Houtzdale.
Also, five sisters, Elsie Noll of Gatesburg, Mary Dillon of Tyrone, Anna Northy of Heathville, Va., Beatrice Leech of Atlanta, Ga., and Ida Walk of Northwood; three brothers, Elmer Bradford and Russell Bradford of Tipton, and Melvin Bradford of Palmyra; and 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Roy Bradford, and a brother, William Bradford.
Friends will be received at the Dean K. Wetzler Funeral Home in Milesburg from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, June 15, 2003. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 16, 2003 with Rev. James Cooper officiating.
Interment will follow in the Williams Cemetery in Huston Township.

Robert P. “Buckwheat” McCann

Robert P. “Buckwheat” McCann, 47, of 212 E. 12th St., Tyrone died Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at his residence.
Born Nov. 27, 1955 at Cape May Court House in N.J., he was the son of Donald W. and Josephine R. (McCahan) McCann.
He is survived by his former wife, Vicky Ioccio, and a son, Ryan McCann of Philadelphia; and two sisters, Patricia S. McCann of Columbus, Ohio and Peggy McCann of Tyrone.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 14, 2003 at 2 p.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone, with Rev. Norman E. Huff officiating.
Alfretta B. Templeton

Alfretta B. Templeton, 98, of Epworth Manor died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003 at the manor.
Born Aug. 3, 1904 in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Bertha (Greene) Kline. She married Fred W. Templeton, who died Sept. 20, 1962.
She attended the 43rd Avenue Presbyterian Church in Glen Park, Indiana prior to returning to Pennsylvania after living in Indiana for 41 years.
She was a floral designer for the House of Flowers in Gary, Indiana. She attended Northwestern University and received a diploma in floral design. She was active in church work and loved floral designing.
She is survived by a daughter Winifred J. Moore of Chambersburg, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred W. Templeton; father, John A. Kline; mother, Bertha Greene Kline; son, Fred C. Templeton and one grandchild and sisters Irene Buffer and Hazel A. Critzer.
Visitation will be at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd. on Wednesday, August 6, 2003 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Service will be held at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd. on Wednesday, August 6, 2003 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Linda Harter officiating. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg on Wednesday, August 6, 2003.

Daniel F. Leonard

Daniel F. “Cowboy Fred” Leonard, 74, of Box 72-A, RR 4 Tyrone, and formerly of Bellwood, passed away Saturday afternoon, Aug. 2, 2003, at the Tyrone Hospital Emergency Room.
He was born April 2, 1929 in Lakemont, the son of the late Robert and Jessie (Barndollar) Leonard. He married Mary B. (Fink) Mock on June 26, 2000 in Bellwood.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, She Devil Dasher of Muncy and Jeanette Mundorff of Williamsport; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; six step-children and a brother, Bill Leonard of Maryland.
He was preceded in death by a son Dan F. Leonard, who at age six was killed by lightning, and a brother, Kenneth, who died in 2002.
He retired as a maintenance technician from the board of education in Baltimore, Md.
He owned and loved riding motorcycles during his lifetime and was all animals “best friend.”
He was a proud member of The Bikes Aimed Toward Education. He was an avid supporter of The Fraternal Order of State Police.
There is an annual “Cowboy Fred” Teddy Bear Run every year at Muncy, where the teddy bears collected are donated to terminally ill children, or those in need of a teddy bear, due to a house fire, accident, etc. The yearly run will continue in his memory.
There will be no funeral service or viewing.
In lieu of flowers, please make monetary donations to the Pennsylvania Humane Society, Pleasant Valley Blvd. in his memory.

Jon P. Stroup

Jon P. Stroup, 61, of Pennington Road, Warriors Mark, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003 at 9:15 a.m. at his residence.
He was born October 22, 1941 in Tyrone, a son of Jon and Margaret (Hoover) Stroup. On March 28, 1967 in Ambridge, he married Elizabeth H. Bish.
Surviving is his wife, three daughters, Megan Wagner and husband Don of Tyrone, Rachel Spigelmyer and husband Matt of Pennsylvania Furnace, Maureen Stroup of Tyrone; a son, Eric of Tyrone; four grandchildren, Alexa Spigelmyer, Haley, Payton and Jack Wagner.
Also, his stepfather, Joseph Rozick of Tyrone; a brother, Steven Rozick of Pittsburgh; two sisters, Joleen Angus of Cromwell, Conn. and Janet Jo Pearson of Tyrone; and a special aunt, Ardrienne Dixon of Tyrone.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jon, in 1942, and his mother Margaret Rozick in 1997.
Mr. Stroup was owner of Jon P. Stroup Sales Agency for over 25 years will offices first in Sewickley, before moving his business to Warriors Mark. He also had been an agent for the New York Life Insurance Company and was co-owner of I-99 Antiques and Payton’s Gift Shop, both of Tyrone.
He had been a member of the Army National Guard.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Feller Memorial Home with Pastor TerryAnn Talbot-Moses officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Feller Memorial Home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Robert S. Vogt

Mr. Robert S. Vogt, 85, of 819 Franklin Drive, Manheim and formerly of Tyrone and Huntingdon died Monday, July 21, 2003 at 4 p.m. at the Pleasant View Nursing Home of Manheim following an extended illness.
He was born May 31, 1918 in Tyrone, the son of Charles J. and Anna Mary Yinger Vogt and on Oct. 31, 1941 was married at St. Matthew’s Church in Tyrone to Marie G. Aurand, who survives.
Also surviving are 6 children, Diana, wife of James Boettger of Manheim; Robert S. and wife Carol of Manheim; Paul B. and wife Brenda of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Charles J. and wife Wendy of Belleville; Christopher A. of Harrisburg; and Elizabeth Vogt of Huntingdon.
Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a sister, Nancy Detweiler of Berwyn.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Cornelius and Sarah Ann Vogt and by a brother, Charles J., who was killed in action in World War II at the Battle of the Bulge.
He was a member of St. Richard’s Catholic Church of Manheim, the Harrisburg American Legion and Tyrone Lodge No. 212 B.P.O.E. He was graduate of Tyrone High School Class of 1936 and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He owned and operated the R.S. Vogt Company Garment Factory at Allensville from which he retired in 1982. He loved to read.
Funeral mass for Mr. Vogt will be said Thursday, July 24, 2003 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Roman Catholic Church in Tyrone with Father Joseph T. Orr as celebrant. Contributions in his memory may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County, good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.

Zelma R. Bickle

Zelma R. Bickle, 92, of Warriors Mark, died Sunday, July 13, 2003 at Epworth Manor, Tyrone.
Born January 17, 1912 in Philipsburg, she was a daughter of the late Rudolph and Nannie Morrison Gingery. On January 17, 1933 she married William Hall Bickle, who preceded her in death on October 1, 1988.
She attended Port Matilda schools.
She was a member of the Centre Line Methodist Church and a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Warriors Mark Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary; the Tyrone Hospital Auxiliary and Halfmoon Senior Citizens.
She is survived by two daughters, Delores M. Knepp and Knob Noster, Missouri and Janet L. Ratchford of Monongahela, PA; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Kyle Gingery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, July 24, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton, State College. The funeral service will be at noon on Thursday, July 24, at the funeral home with Reverend William Baughman officiating. Burial will be in Grays Cemetery.

Sally L. Hagg

Sally L. Hagg, 65, of Reservoir Drive, Tyrone RD 1, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003 at Tyrone Hospital.
She was born July 29, 1938, in Tyrone, a daughter of Martin P. and Helen A. (Rozick) Lynch. She married Raymond J. Hagg on Oct. 1, 196, at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Tyrone.
Surviving are her husband, three daughters, Gretchen H. Barlett and husband John of Tyrone, Stephanie H. Kuver and husband, Jeff, of Ijamsville, Md., and Christine A. Nagle and husband, Chris, of Tyrone; five grandchildren; and a brother, James Lynch of Clearfield.
Mrs. Hagg retired in May 2000 from Epworth Manor Nursing Home in Tyrone as a registered nurse after 25 years of service. She previously worked at Altoona Hospital as an RN for 11 years.
She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and a volunteer for the Blair Senior Services Aprise program. She was a 1956 graduate of Tyrone High School and a 1958 graduate of the Altoona Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse.
Mrs. Hagg enjoyed being with her grandchildren, reading and crossword puzzles and was an avid Altoona Curve fan.
Wake services were held at 8:30 p.m. yesterday at Feller Memorial Home in Tyrone and Funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. today at St. Matthew Catholic Church, with Rev. Joseph T. Orr as celebrant.
