IVADELLA SHEETZ
GARRETT, Pa. - Ivadella Sheetz, 75, of Garrett, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 1997, at Meyersdale Medical Center, Meyersdale, Pa.
She was born Nov. 3, 1922, in Streby, W.Va., a daughter of the late Jonas and Mary (Davis) Moreland. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Edward; and a son, Roger.

She was a member of the Cumberland Salvation Army.

She is survived by two sons, Dailey Barnes, Garrett, and Billy Barnes, Springfield, W.Va.; and two daughters, Evelyn Sue Sherman, Berlin, Pa., and Alma Sherman, Meyersdale, Pa.; seven grand children; and four great-grandchildren.

She was a sister of William Moreland, Mount Storm, W.Va.

Friends will be received at Leckemby Funeral Home, Meyersdale, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and services will be conducted at the funeral home Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Ralph Landis officiating.

Interment will be in White Oak cemetery, Meyersdale.

SHARON L. SHIRCLIFFE
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Sharon Lee Shircliffe, 56, of R.D. 1, Buffalo Mills, died Saturday, March 1, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born May 19, 1940, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of Edgar G. Fields, Hyndman, and the late Juanita P. (Long) Fields.

In addition to her father, she is survived by her stepmother, Ida R. Fields; one son, Ansel G. Shircliffe II and wife, LuAnne, R.D. 1, Hyndman; two daughters, Christine M. Scaife and husband, David, Central City; Jodie R. Ringler and husband, Jamey, R.D. 1, Hyndman; five grandchildren, Garrett, Hayden and Evan Shircliffe and Janelle and Jessica Ringler and two step brothers, William Ritchey, Hyndman and Ernie Ritchey, Baltimore.

Mrs. Shircliffe graduated from Allegany High School, Cumberland, in 1958, and from Frostburg State University in 1962 where she specialized in middle school education. She taught for several years in the Baltimore and Hyndman school systems and later was employed for 15 years at Standard Register Corp., in Bedford. She currently was employed at the Wal-Mart store in LaVale, Md.

She was a member of the Hyndman First United Church of Christ.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Roger A. Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Hyndman cemetery.

BEULAH W. SHOWALTER
SALISBURY, Pa. - Beulah Winifred (Hollada) Shumaker Showalter, 86, of RD 1, Salisbury, died Saturday, March 8, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born Feb. 25, 1911, in Savage, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Olive (King) Hollada. She also was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Dewey Shumaker, in 1953 and her second husband, Joseph Lester Showalter, in 1969; a son, Robert Hollada Jr.; a daughter, Patricia Wisseman; two brothers, Clyde Z. Hollada and Edgar Hollada; and an infant sister, Leota.

Surviving are five sons, Wayne R. Shumaker and Dale E. Shumaker, both of Cumberland, Glenn A. Shumaker, Larry E. Shumaker and James L. Shumaker, all of Salisbury; four brothers, Roland ``Don" Hollada, Willoughby, Ohio, Walter Hollada, Norwalk, Calif., Carl ``Ken" Hollada, Salisbury, and Robert E. Hollada, Fort Hill; two sisters, Wanda D. Kretchman, Meyersdale, and Lola Showalter, Salisbury; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Showalter was a member of Maple Glen Church of the Brethren, Fort Hill; Meyersdale Chapter 548 Order of the Eastern Star; and Somerset County Society of Farm Women.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, Md., on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Daniel Whitacre officiating.

Interment will be in the Maple Glen cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Maple Glen Church of the Brethren, RD 1, Fort Hill, PA 15540.

Pallbearers will be Ron Shumaker, Mike Shumaker, Scott Shumaker, Clark Hollada, Robbie Hollada and Steve Hollada.

JOHN R. SHOWALTER
SALISBURY, Pa. - John Richard "Dick" Showalter, 75, of Salisbury, passed away Sunday, Sept. 28, 1997, at Conemaugh Medical Center, Johnstown.
Born Aug. 23, 1922, in West Salisbury, he was a son of the late Samuel Curtis and Mabel (Beynon) Showalter. He also was preceded in death by three sisters, Esther Bittner, Eleanor Showalter, and Mary Lee Mitchell.

He is survived by his wife, Betty (Stark) Showalter, four children and four grandchildren, John Richard Showalter married to Lynn Heilengenthal, Topeka, Kan., Michael D. Showalter married to Patricia Reckner, Salisbury, and daughter, Scotti, Pamela Baer married to James Baer, St. Paul, Pa., and son Jeremy, Bradley Showalter married to Molly Roundsley, Lewisville, Texas, and son Timothy and daughter Jessica; two brothers, Sam and Fred Showalter, both of Salisbury; six sisters, Hazel Garlitz, Salisbury, Felicia Gross, North Ridgeville, Ohio, Harriet Higgins, Canton, Ohio, Linda Shaffer, Glenwood, Md., Carol Sue Helman, Burlington, W.Va., and Jean Bowers, Treasure Island, Fla.

Mr. Showalter was owner and operator of Showalter's Village Funiture Store for 33 years, was the first mayor of Salisbury, holding the position for 22 1/2 years, was instrumental in attaining the New England Gear Works, the Professional Building, and the Salisbury Ambulance Association, where he served as an Emergency Medical Technician for 13 1/2 years. He was a committeeman for the Republican Party for six terms, served on the executive board as well as treasurer of the Somerset County Republican Committee. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the European theatre for 3 1/2 years, and was a charter member of the Salisbury VFW and a member of the American Legion. He also was a member of the Salisbury Lions Club and the Meyersdale Masonic Lodge.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Salisbury, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the Summit Mills Grace Brethren Church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Albert Valentine and the Rev. David Fetter officiating.

Interment will be in Salisbury cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be directed to either the Summit Mills Grace Brethren Church or to St. John's Lutheran Church.

RUTH E. SHUMAKER
FAIRHOPE, Pa. - Ruth Ellen Shumaker, 91, of Fairhope, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, June 5, 1997, at her home. She was a good Christian, loving mother and will be missed by all her family.
Born April 16, 1906, at Williams in Fairhope Township, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Rosie (Clites) Shroyer. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Ellsworth F. Shumaker, on June 17, 1977; and by four brothers and four sisters.

Surviving are a son, Francis J. Shumaker and wife Mabel, Rising Sun, Md.; five daughters, R. Mary Jane Winebrenner and husband Allan, Baltimore, Helen R. Fahnestock and husband Larry, Chambersburg, Shirley R. Cummins and husband Earl, Fairhope, Sylvia J. Kennell and husband Robert, Fairhope, and Ethel Mae Isiminger and husband Ralph, LaVale; 23 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Harvey and Robert Shroyer, both of Fairhope; and four sisters, Rosella Davey, Ellerslie, Edna Helmstetter, Cash Valley Road, LaVale, Fairy Starkey, Akron, Ohio, and Mattie Riall, Salisbury, Md.

Mrs. Shumaker was a member of Fairhope Community Church.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m., on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and at the church for one hour prior to the service.

Services will be conducted at Fairhope Community Church on Sunday at 2 p.m. with Pastor Bradley Reider and Pastor Leroy Logsdon officiating.

Interment will be in Comps cemetery.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials may be sent to Fairhope Community Church, Fairhope, PA 15538.

GLADYS L. SIMMONS
CARLISLE, Pa. - Gladys Leahbelle "Liz" Simmons, 74, of Carlisle, formerly of Cumberland, Md., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 1997, at Clairemont Nursing Home, Carlisle.
Born June 12, 1923, in Keyser, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Porter and Beatrice (Dugger) Boyer. She also was preceded in death by two husbands, Joseph R. Bearinger Sr. and Woodrow G. Simmons; two brothers, Ralph and Lawrence Boyer; one half-brother, Donald Boyer; two sisters, Pauline Nield and Audra Callis; and one grandson, James C. Funk Jr.

Mrs. Simmons was retired from Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.

Surviving are one daughter, S. Kay Unangst and husband Arthur, Camp Hill; one son, Joseph R. Bearinger Jr. and wife Eva, Short Gap, W.Va.; two granddaughters, Susan R. Mackey and husband Steve, Dillsburg, and Shelly R. Minnigh and husband Mike, Short Gap, W.Va.; one great-granddaughter, Kinsey S. Mackey; and one great-grandson, Ryan M. Minnigh.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at noon with the Rev. Meredith C. Shyrock officiating.

Pallbearers will be James Funk, Steven Mackey, Mike Minnigh, Jason Bearinger, Matthew Bearinger, and Donnie Bearinger.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
