JOHN HARPER
CARLISLE, Pa. - John "Jack" Harper, 64, of 38 Abbey Court, Carlisle, died Feb. 7, 1997, at his home.
Born Sept. 7, 1932, in Cairo, W.Va., he was a son of the late Dana J. and Bertha (Riden) Harper.
Mr. Harper was a graduate of Allegany High School, Cumberland, Md. He was a member of St Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, and Ohr Lodge 578, AF&AM;, Cumberland.
Surviving is his wife, Sara B. (Wilson) Harper.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carlisle.
LEE W. HARTSOCK
CLEARVILLE, Pa. - Lee Williams Hartsock, 69, of Clearville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 16, 1997, at Memorial Hospital Hospice Unit, Cumberland, Md.
Born Dec. 24, 1927, in Cumberland, he was the son of Vance (Williams) Hartsock, Cumberland Nursing Home, and the late Lewis Hartsock.
Mr. Hartsock was a retired machinist for the B&O; Railroad. He was also employed by Custom Analytical Engineering Systems Inc.
Mr. Hartsock was a member of Mountain Top Church, a member of Potomac Lodge No. 100 AF&AM;, Scottish Rite of Free Masonary, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Surviving are his wife, Bessie (Lawrence) Hartsock, Clearville; two sons, Steven L. Hartsock and wife Deborah, Cumberland, and Robin W. Hartsock and wife Jean, Silver Spring, Md.; two daughters, Jan M. Michael, Flintstone, Md., and Karen R. Horwath and husband Dale, Cumberland; a brother, James Hartsock, College Park, Md.; a sister, Louise Kolb, Bethesda, Md.; five grandchildren, Nicole Michael, Jason Michael, and Leeann Michael, all of Flintstone, and Brandon Horwath and Cody Horwath, both of Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Glenn Jones and the Rev. Ronald W. Eichel officiating.
Interment will be in Maryland Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.
Pallbearers will be Jason Michael, Brandon Horwath, Christopher Alexander, Thomas Mann, Carl Rice, and Charles Wharton. Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Horwath and Robin Hartsock.
The family requests donations may be made to the Flintstone Volunteer Fire Department.
LEROY H. HASSELRODE
HALF MOON BAY, Calif. - Leroy Harry Hasselrode, 67, died Friday, Aug. 8, 1997, at the Linda Mar Rehabilitation Center, Pacifica, after a courageous battle with diabetes.
Born June 29, 1930, he was a son of the late Harry Robert Hosselrode and Mary (Smith) Hosselrode Mason.
Lee's early years were spent on the family farm, R.D.1, Hyndman, Pa. After graduation from Hyndman High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, received his training at Great Lakes Naval Training Center where he was a proud member of the Great Lakes Choir. Lee was assigned to active duty with the U.S. Pacific Fleet.
Though he remained in the U.S. Naval Reserve, he attended Frostburg State Teachers College. Lee left school to join American Airlines at Washington National Airport. He then became supervisor of American Airlines City Ticket Offices in Washington, D.C. He left American Airlines to become manager of Direct Mail for Pacific Orient Steamship Co., San Francisco. He was soon appointed secretary of Pacific Orient's prestigious Sea Farers Club which allowed him to travel throughout the world.
Lee opened his own travel agency, POSH Travel Service, 55 Grant St., San Francisco. When that building was sold, he opened Nob Hill Travel in the world renowned Fairmont Hotel, San Francisco.
He continued to enjoy the travel industry until 1989 when deteriorating health forced him to retire. Lee always remained optimistic, cheerful and retained his sense of humor. His faith brought him serenity and peace. He was a member of Cooks Mills United Methodist Church, Hyndman.
Lee will be deeply missed by his sister, Dolores H. Lowery, Alexandria, Va., along with other family members and by caring friends throughout the world.
Memorial services were held in Half Moon Bay on August 8, 1997.
Graveside services will be conducted at Cooks Mills cemetery, R.D. 1, Hyndman, on Saturday, Aug. 16, 1997, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Julie L. Applegate officiating.
Interment will follow.

GLENN R. HANSROTE
BEDFORD, Pa. - Glenn R. Hansrote, 75, of Bedford, Pa. died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1997 in Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Feb. 19, 1922, he was the son of the late Adam and Jean (Kerr) Hansrote.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Ayers and Elizabeth White; and two brothers Edward Hansrote and Robert Hansrote.
Mr. Hansrote was a retired machinist with the B&O; Railroad and was a World War II veteran, having served with the U.S. Army. He was a member of DAV, and American Legion Post 945.
Survivors include his wife, Verna Ruth (Lewis) Hansrote; two daughters, Glenora Faupel, Bedford, and Penny Schnably, Cumberland; three sisters, Betty Twigg, Cumberland, Jean Cope, Danville, Pa., and Florence Leonard, Sunbury, Pa.; two brothers, Bernard Hansrote and Holbert Hansrote, both of Cumberland; and three grandchildren, Aaron Schnably, Jessica Faupel and Adam Faupel.
The family will receive friends at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Hwy., LaVale, on Thursday, Oct. 9, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Gary W. Barkley officiating.
Interment will follow in Union cemetery, Centerville, Pa.
American Legion Post 113, Bedford, will conduct military services at the graveside.

MICHAEL S. HARBER
PITTSBURGH - Michael Shawn Harber, 25, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Berlin, Pa., died Tuesday, April 1, 1997, in Pittsburgh.
Born March 22, 1972, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of G. Michael and Melody J. (Hast) Harber, Berlin.
Surviving in addition to his parents are sisters, Heather Sue and Nichol Lyn Harber, at home; maternal grandparents, Merwin and Bernadine Hast, Cumberland, Md.; and paternal grandparents, Gilbert and Betty Harber, Keyser, W.Va.
Mr. Harber was a 1990 graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School, and a graduate of Allegany Community College in the nurse's assistant program. He was employed by Forbes Nursing Facility, as a direct care provider.
Friends will be received at Deaner Funeral Home, 705 Main Street, Berlin, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Assumption, Keyser, W.Va., Friday at 10 a.m. with Father Ivan Lebar as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Thomas cemetery, Keyser, W.Va.

BRIAN TODD HARE
MEYERSDALE, Pa. - Brian Todd Hare, 30, of Meyersdale, formerly of Salisbury, Pa., died Sunday, Sept. 21, 1997, at West Virginia University Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born Oct. 4, 1966, in Meyersdale, he was a son of Dorothy E. (Bittinger) Hare, Salisbury, and the late Ray W. Hare.
He is also survived by his wife, the former Brandy Baughman; brother, William R. Hare, Gaithersburg; and maternal grandmother, Ruth Bittinger, Grantsville.
He was a member of the Meyersdale Church of the Brethren.
Friends will be received at the Price Funeral Home, 325 Main St., Meyersdale, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m., with Pastor John Nalley officiating.
Interment will be in Salisbury cemetery.
