CLARK E. GLOTFELTY
BERLIN, Pa. - Clark E. Glotfelty, 67, of Berlin, died Oct. 5, 1997, at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Jean (Sarver) Glotfelty; sons, Timothy and wife, Debra (Ressler), New Alexandria, Pa.; Curtis and wife, Nancy (Deneen), Berlin; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday, Oct. 8, at the Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin. Interment was in the Berlin IOOF cemetery.
ELEANOR H. GILFORD
SHARON, Pa. - Eleanor Harriett Gilford, 83, of 15 W. Connelly Boulevard, Sharon, formerly of Cumberland, Md., passed away on Friday, Nov. 28, 1997, at Sharon Regional Hospital, Sharon.
Born March 1, 1914, in Farrell, she was the daughter of the late Paul William and Clara (Matthews) Gilford. She also was preceded in death by four brothers.
Ms. Gilford was Lutheran by faith, and a former employee of the Celanese Corporation.
Surviving are her only sister, Anna V. Grabenstein and husband Edward, Cumberland; one nephew; and four nieces.
At her request, her body will be cremated.
Memorial services will be held on Monday in Sharon, and at a later date in Cumberland.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
The Merritt-Adams Funeral Home is in charge of the local arrangements.
HARRY E. GARLITZ
SOMERSET, Pa. - Harry Edward Garlitz, 43, of 2177 W. Bakersville-Edie Road, Somerset, died Thursday, April 17, 1997, at Somerset Hospital.
Born Feb. 23, 1954, at Meyersdale, he was a son of Mildred (Miller) Garlitz, Somerset, and the late Herbert Garlitz. He also was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Hauger.
Mr. Garlitz had been employed as a factory worker with Flushing Shirt Mfg. Co., Grantsville, and Fibred, Inc., Cumberland.
Survivors include, in addition to his mother; three daughters, Kathleen, Sarah and Bethany Garlitz, Lonaconing; a brother-in-law, Randy Hauger, Somerset; a niece, Rachel Hauger; and a nephew, Robert Garlitz.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, on Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A prayer service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Paul Byrnes officiating.
Interment will be in St. Ann's cemetery, Avilton.
DOROTHY B. HUMBERTSON
GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Dorothy Beall Humbertson, 82, formerly of Cumberland, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 1997, at Michael Manor Nursing Home, Gettysburg.
Born Nov. 3, 1914, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Richard Beall and Rose Hinkle.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star in Cumberland. She had resided in Gettysburg with her daughter and son-in-law since 1991.
Dorothy, the widow of E.W. "Ace" Humbertson, is survived by her son, Jeffrey; granddaughter, Carrie; grandson, John, all of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; her daughter, Deborah Shaffer, Gettysburg; three sisters, Katherine McKibbon, Westby, Wisc., Louise McWilliams, Rockville, and Barbara Williams, Cumberland.
MARY B. HURT
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Mary Boekhoudt Hurt, 67, of Northside, Pittsburgh, died Saturday, May 10, 1997.
She was the beloved wife of the late Samuel L. Hurt Sr. She also was preceded in death by a son, Reuben N. Hurt.
Mrs. Hurt was the mother of Rabbi Samuel L. Hurt Jr., Roger W. Hurt, Mary L. Thompson, and Lorraine V. Hurt, all of Pittsburgh and Turtle Creek. She is also survived by two brothers, Portsmouth, Va.; nine sisters residing in Virginia, New York, California, Aruba, Bermuda, and Holland; 15 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a host of nephews and nieces, brothers and sisters-in-law.
Friends were received at Stephens Memorial Chapel, Henney Family Services, Inc., 600 Cedar Ave., Northside, Pittsburgh, Pa., on Monday, May 12, 1997.
Interment will be held at Temple Beth-El, Belleville, Va., on Thursday at 7 p.m.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Hospice Foundation.
GRACE E. HYATT
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Grace E. Hyatt, 88, of Hyndman, formerly of First Street, South Connellsville, died Friday, April 25, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born October 27, 1908, in Fayette County, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Josephine (Llewellyn) Keefer. She also was preceded in death by a son, Francis E. Pople; a daughter, Joan L. Schinker; one brother; and two sisters.
Mrs. Hyatt was a member of the Order of Eastern Star No. 56 of Cumberland, and a member of the Southminister Presbyterian Church, Cumberland.
Surviving are her husband, Donald D. Hyatt Sr.; two daughters, Loretta J. Roberts, Pittsburgh, and Kathryn J. O'droneic, Connellsville; three stepsons, Donald D. Hyatt Jr. and his wife Darlene, Portland, Ore., Barry B. Hyatt and wife Judy, South Connellsville, and Robert K. Hyatt, Latrobe; three stepdaughters, Mrs. John (Patricia) Cavalier, Connellsville, Barbara Barcus, Belle Vernon, Mrs. Edward (Joyce) Trump, South Connellsvile; 39 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Brooks Funeral Home, 111 East Green St., Connellsville, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m.
Interment will be in the Jersey cemetery, Turkeyfoot Township, Pa.
ELSIE T. HYRE
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Elsie T. Hyre, 84, of Cooks Mills, R.D. 1, Hyndman, died Monday, Aug. 25, 1997 at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born April 17, 1913 at Mount Savage, she was a daughter of the late Edward E. and Minnie (Faulkner) Lowery. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Lee A. Hyre, on Nov. 5, 1996; and by two brothers and eight sisters, Gilbert, Millard, Annabell, Elizabeth, Effie and Irene Lowery, Margaret Wertz, Teresa See, Thelma Kennell, and Mary Jo Landis.
Surviving are two daughters, Vivian P. Berkheimer and Bonnie L. Bridges and husband Ronald, both of R.D. 1, Hyndman; six grandchildren, Steven Berkheimer, Cindy Yoder, Susan May, Ronald Bridges, Kathy Christner, and Jeff Bridges; six great-grandchildren, Tyler Leap, Jonathan May, Rebecca Yoder, Evan Bridges, Krista Christner, and Hunter Bridges; and a sister, Pauline Lowery, Ellerslie, Md.
Mrs. Hyre attended Cooks Mills United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Julie L. Applegate and the Rev. Bradley E. Reider officiating.
Interment will be in Porter cemetery near Ellerslie.
Grandsons Steven Berkheimer, Ronald Bridges, Jeff Bridges, Gary Christner, Richard Yoder and Todd May will serve as pallbearers.
EVA E. HIGINBOTHAM
MECHANICSBURG, Pa. - Eva Eula Everett Higinbotham, 96, of Mechanicsburg, formerly of Cumberland, died Friday, June 20, 1997, at Mechanicsburg.
Born Sept. 3, 1900, in Romney, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Bertie (Wright) Everett. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Higinbotham; a daughter, Eva Lee Bagdonis; and three brothers, Guy, Melvin and Edgar Everett.
Mrs. Higinbotham was Methodist by faith.
Surviving are a sister, Beatrice Keister, Bladensburg, Md.; three grandchildren, Dr. Anthony Bagdonis, Atlanta, Ga.; Cindy Rudisill, Lykens, and Donna Magnum, Mechanicsburg; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Adam E. Grim officiating.
Interment will be in Greenmount cemetery, Cumberland.
